The optics for the latest caravan don’t get much worse than this: Honduran border police arrested a 26-year-old fugitive they said was leading it and hauled him off to prison to serve the 15-year term that came of his 2015 conviction. 

Caravan leader Juan Carlos Molina’s crime?  Raping a younger than 12-year-old, his own little cousin, sneaking into her home as she awaited her mother’s return from a late-working job with the door to her home ajar to let her back in, according to Honduras’s Diario La Tribuna (story in Spanish).  If she had to leave the door open, it’s quite likely it’s because she had to go to sleep, meaning the rape was a bedroom invasion rape of a young girl, which is every girl’s (and woman’s) worst nightmare.

The raped girl then got pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy.  Cops matched Molina’s DNA to that of the infant, and that secured his conviction.

Having skipped his court dates, he became a fugitive, and now he’s out leading caravans these days, undoubtedly with women and children to head into the U.S.  Putting him in with women and children anywhere is revolting in the extreme, but here he was, expecting to get away with it because it was the media-untouchable caravan.  Some of caravaners he led may have valid asylum claims, but it’s a hard fact that he was running from his crimes and ready to file an asylum claim for free entry into the U.S.

Sound like the kind of people we should be letting in, for even two seconds?  These are the very people whose sob stories the media lap up as they report on caravaners as merely asylum-seekers running from crime.  Nobody ever mentions that some of them are the crime, other than angry Mexican residents who experience it firsthand and who are lashing out now.  According to the open borders crowd, and according to our laws, it’s all good if a guy like Molina gets in, because, well, he has a “right” to file an asylum case, and if he sneaks in to do it, he has a “right” to stay here for the duration.

Good luck to all the little 12-year-olds in whatever vicinity he planned to wait out his asylum claim in. 

Fortunately, the Honduran cops got him.

The whole sickening spectacle highlights that migrant caravans really are loaded with criminals, and if the leader is a criminal, criminals have a “safe space.”

U.S. Homeland Security surveillance identified about 600 criminals from the last caravan as the media pooh-poohed the reports, and those were the ones the U.S. knew about.  The ones they didn’t know about are people who would have been let in, or else would have broken in (something that comes natural to criminals) and then been allowed to stay by legal default.

It defies belief to think there are no criminals in this group hell-bent on getting into the States by extra-legal means.  And for every criminal, you can bet there were quite a few female enablers from that single-mom-with-kids community the press is so anxious to promote as the harmless face of the caravan.

Now the Mexican government is warning that the caravans have become magnets for criminals, because they’re now a money-making opportunity.

In a jaw-dropping news item utterly ignored by the mainstream press here, a top Mexican migration official told La Razón, a left-leaning Mexican newspaper, that criminals were coming to dominate the caravans now, with open borders activists agreeing.

Via Google Translate (which came out pretty good this time), La Razón reported: 

The Undersecretary of Human Rights, Migration and Population of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), Alejandro Encinas, said he did not doubt that some organizations profit economically from migrant caravans, but also said that there are some criminal groups that want to get involved in the Exodus.

“I do not doubt it, and not only that (profit), there are some criminal groups that want to get involved unduly in these marches,” he said.

The official told La Razón that the Mexican government is following up on the new caravan that left early yesterday morning in Honduras. “Already left today (yesterday) in the early morning a contingent of slightly more than 500 people, right now (noon yesterday) amount to just over a thousand and we are monitoring,” he said.

In this regard, Jorge Andrade, founder of the migrant group You Are Us, said that what the official said “is an open secret”.

“What Alejandro Encinas says is an open secret, because these groups have been identified for seven years; Even the National Commission of Human Rights (CNDH) has conducted studies on migrant violence, “he said.

In an interview with this newspaper, the anthropologist also said that for organized crime the Central American migrant represents large amounts of money.

Somewhere, somehow, this truth has got to eventually get out.  The press isn’t reporting it.  But the fact remains: the caravan problem is becoming a criminal enterprise, and criminals, extremely violent ones, are among its leaders.

If that, and this arrest, is not a case for a wall, what is it going to take?

You’d never know it from media coverage of the climate change issue, but over the past year, several “facts” about global warming have been debunked entirely or were radically altered.

Almost all Democratic candidates who ran in the midterm elections tried to push climate change as a major issue.  It didn’t work, but time after time, Democrats repeated the same half-truths and myths that have been used for years to push a radical global warming agenda. 

The Global Warming Policy Forum, a London-based think-tank, supports “open and skeptical” science and policy research, as well as a balanced approach to the question of climate change.  This kind of hardheaded realism is badly needed to counter the outright hysteria of climate alarmists.  The GWPF came up with a list of the 12 debunked climate scares of 2018.  Here are a few:

PARIS (AFP) – Earth’s surface will almost certainly not warm up four or five degrees Celsius by 2100, according to a study released Wednesday (Jan 17) which, if correct, voids worst-case UN climate change predictions.

A revised calculation of how greenhouse gases drive up the planet’s temperature reduces the range of possible end-of-century outcomes by more than half, researchers said in the report, published in the journal Nature.

This is the most persistent myth advanced by climate change hysterics – that unless we do something now about global warming, we’ll all be dead by 2100.  That may have been the prediction a decade ago, but gradually, over the years, even the IPCC predictions have become less dire.

You may recall the above report by the BBC, which described how bad last year’s Atlantic hurricane season was, before commenting at the end: “A warmer world is bringing us a greater number of hurricanes and a greater risk of a hurricane becoming the most powerful category 5.”  I fired off a complaint, which at first they did their best to dodge.  After my refusal to accept their reply, they have now been forced to back down.

In fact, no major hurricane made landfall in the U.S. between 2005 and 2017.  And the prediction that storms would become more severe just hasn’t panned out.

NASA glaciologist Jay Zwally says his new study will show, once again, the eastern Antarctic ice sheet is gaining enough ice to offset losses in the west.

The question of polar ice growth or shrinkage – either the North or the South Pole – continues to bedevil scientists.  But climate hysterics have accepted as an article of faith that the ice is disappearing.  And then there are the poor, starving polar bears:

Try, try again, guys.

The issue of “coral bleaching” is a favorite of hysterics.  This issue also can be dropped from the alarmists’ agenda:

What runs through all these myths is the political calculation that people, scared to death, will hand politicians and bureaucrats enormous power to control our lives by controlling energy.  It’s really just a simple power grab played out on a planetwide scale.  But as long as skeptical scientists aren’t put in jail or burned at the stake for their beliefs, that power grab will be stymied.

In a disastrous interview this week, CNN analyst Areva Martin accused Sirius XM and Fox Nation host David Webb of benefiting from “white privilege,” but she failed to realize that he’s black.

Martin and Webb were having a discussion on Webb’s radio show Tuesday about what makes someone qualified for certain jobs.

Webb explained that when applying for jobs, he considered relevant experience more important than his skin color.

“I’ve chosen to cross different parts of the media world, done the work so that I’m qualified to be in each one. I never considered my color the issue, I considered my qualifications the issue,” Webb said.

Martin thought she had Webb cornered. She thought she could simply dismiss Webb’s point because she believed he was a white man benefiting from “white privilege.”

“That’s a whole other long conversation about white privilege, the things that you have the privilege of doing, that people of color don’t have the privilege of,” Martin said smugly.

She failed to address Webb’s point about work experience being more important than skin color.

Instead of making an actual argument, she accused Webb of benefiting from “white privilege.” But that was a mistake.

“How do I have the privilege of white privilege?” Webb asked.

“David, by virtue of being a white male you have white privilege,” Martin said.

Then Webb cleared up Martin’s awkward assumption.

“Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should’ve been better prepped. I’m black,” Webb said.

“I stand corrected,” Martin said.

The CNN analyst silently listened for the next few moments while Webb slammed her for making “insulting” assumptions about him.

“You come with this assumption and go with white privilege, that’s actually insulting,” Webb said.

Martin attempted to apologize, but it’s hard to get past such an offensive accusation.

“The whole white privilege thing is insulting,” Webb reiterated.

If Martin believed Webb received his position in Fox News because he was “white,” I wonder how she would explain how he got the position after finding out he’s black.

Martin apologized profusely for her mistake, but unfortunately, she failed to explain her points about “white privilege.”

When liberals don’t have real arguments, they accuse you of things like benefiting from “white privilege” — even if you’re not white.

Some West Virginia lawmakers want to pitch in millions of dollars for President Donald Trump’s wall-building effort along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The GOP-led House of Delegates issued a statement Monday that a bill planned by three delegates would divert $10 million from West Virginia’s current $186 million budget surplus for wall construction.

Trump’s seeking $5.7 billion overall to fund construction of a wall along about 235 miles of the border. The suggested offer from West Virginia would pay for a tiny fraction of the cost.

Trump carried West Virginia by 42 percent points in the 2016 election, and 63 percent of state voters who cast midterm ballots approved of his job performance.

Last week a Republican lawmaker in Montana proposed giving more than $8 million for the wall.

President Donald Trump pointed Wednesday to modern walls built around the world used successfully to secure borders and protect citizens.

“There are now 77 major or significant Walls built around the world, with 45 countries planning or building Walls,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Over 800 miles of Walls have been built in Europe since only 2015. They have all been recognized as close to 100% successful.”

As Breitbart News reported Monday, both modern and ancient walls work to keep the people inside safe. USA Today reported that at least 77 walls have been built since World War II, including barriers in Spain, Saudi Arabia, France, India, Turkey, and Morocco.

The president commented on Twitter as the partial government shutdown continues into its 26th day. Democrats remain resolved not to make a deal with President Trump, despite efforts to compromise and get Democrats to the negotiation table.

“It is becoming more and more obvious that the Radical Democrats are a Party of open borders and crime,” Trump wrote. “They want nothing to do with the major Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border.”

Trump continues to advocate a wall on the southern border as a common sense solution to keep drugs, crime, and illegal immigrants from coming into the country.

“We got to get the politics out of this and go back to common sense,” Trump said last week. “You know, they say it’s a medieval solution, a wall. That’s true. It’s medieval because it worked then and it works even better now.”

There are now 77 major or significant Walls built around the world, with 45 countries planning or building Walls. Over 800 miles of Walls have been built in Europe since only 2015. They have all been recognized as close to 100% successful. Stop the crime at our Southern Border!
