Arrogant David Hogg Comes Back Out in Public, Instantly Proves Own Ignorance Again

Anti-gun activist David Hogg, who hasn’t been much in the public eye lately, recently came out of the woodwork to embarrass himself once again with more ignorant comments.

Previously on Hogg’s greatest hits, he made extremely embarrassing comments after a screening of left-wing activist Michael Moore’s new movie.

After Hogg suggested that Canadians should break U.S. campaign finance laws, Moore had to snatch the mic from him.

Hogg is at it again with more laughably ignorant comments to scoff at after an interview he did with Chicago’s Windy City Live published on YouTube on Oct. 14.

Mere seconds into the interview, Hogg was already making ridiculous statements.

“We have to develop this courage when our political leaders refuse to have it. When politicians say, ‘Now is not the time to talk about this,’ they were right, the time to talk about this was decades and centuries ago,” Hogg said.

Presumably, Hogg was referring to the reaction of politicians when shootings are fresh.

Is Hogg an embarrassment to the anti-gun crowd?

Out of respect for victims and their families, some politicians try not to politicize tragedies right away and often say it’s not the right time to have discussions relating to gun legislation.

However, after a Texas school shooting in May, Hogg himself didn’t waste even a single day before making noises for gun control laws.

If it were up to Hogg, the decision on guns would have been made “centuries ago.” Note that Hogg didn’t say one century. He meant multiple centuries — apparently referring to the birth of the United States itself.

Possibly, Hogg doesn’t realize that guns actually were discussed “centuries ago.” In fact, fights about gun control are a basic part of American history, as Townhall editor Katie Pavlich pointed out on Twitter.

“It was: July 4, 1776,” Pavlich tweeted.

RELATED: Liberal Campaign Looks To Silence Gun Owners at Voting Booth

The first battles of the American Revolution — Lexington and Concord in 1775 — were fights about gun control, since the British troops were on a mission to confiscate firearms when the colonial militiamen confronted them.

That led to the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and eventually the Constitution of the United States.

It was in 1791, a little over two centuries ago, the first 10 amendments to the Constitution were ratified.

One of those amendments, the Second Amendment, guaranteed Americans the right to bear arms.

Contrary to Hogg’s ignorant comments, the discussion about guns did happen centuries ago — and the side that believed that Americans to have the right to bear arms won.

I hope Hogg never leaves the public eye. It’s hilarious watching his comments backfire after being so arrogant.

Armies Of Lawyers Are Mobilizing To Keep An Eye On Chaos At The Polls

One side is looking for voting fraud.

Washington Fearing massive voter fraud and questionable vote counting, Republicans, Democrats and interest groups are all taking the unusual step of dispatching armies of lawyers in this non-presidential election year to ward off potential trouble at the polls.

“I’ve never seen anything like it for a midterm,” said Hilary Shelton, director of the NAACP’s Washington bureau. “It does look much more consistent with issues that we address in (presidential) elections. For a midterm election, it’s extraordinary. But this is an extraordinary time.”

Attorneys and poll watchers will be at voting sites and manning war rooms in nearly every state, looking at almost every aspect of the voting process and prepared act if they see something that they feel could hurt their candidate or cause.

The federal government also plans to be watching, as the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division will send lawyers to several states. For the 2016 election, the department dispatched more than 500 employees to 67 jurisdictions in 28 states. The department has not detailed specific plans for this year.

Massive displays of legal force are common in presidential election years, but the large presence of attorneys in this year’s midterm election effort is unprecedented, several experts said.

The legal maneuvering is already underway. Voting rights and civil rights groups have filed lawsuits in the past week charging Georgia authorities with rejecting a disproportionate number of absentee ballots and with discrimination in verifying new voter registrations.

A second dispute centers on nearly 53,000 voter registrations that have been placed on a pending list because they do not satisfy an “exact match” requirement with a person’s Georgia driver license or Social Security card. The state’s Republican-controlled general assembly last year approved the exact match requirement.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, a Republican who is running against Democrat Stacey Abrams for governor, has defended his stewardship of the election. He says the voting issue is a manufactured crisis created by Abrams.

National Democratic and Republican Party officials declined to comment on their Election Day legal strategies other than to say they will be ready for whatever happens.

But some numbers show the emphasis that the parties and outside groups are putting on potential legal action this election cycle.

The NAACP, the Brennan Center of Justice at New York University School of Law, and Common Cause are partnering with the liberal-leaning Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which says it has 4,000 attorneys who have volunteered to work the elections.

Some of those lawyers will man a nationwide voter hotline and local call centers on Election Day in key states like Florida, Georgia and Texas, said Marcia Johnson-Blanco, co-director of the committee’s Voting Rights Project.

Migrant Caravan Marching To U.S. Borders Swells To 14,000 As Trump Readies Federal Response

The migrant caravan marching through Mexico to the U.S. border has grown to more than 14,000, one Mexican news outlet reports, and President Trump is readying a federal response if needed.

Although the group of migrants that set off from Honduras two weeks ago numbered about 2,000, the number has been growing in the last weeks, topping 14,000 now, El Universal reported.

The news outlet said that the new estimate of marchers comes from “municipal authorities,” the Catholic Diocese in the Mexican city of Tapachula, and the Mexican National Migration Institute.

“The first group walked for 37 kilometers from Ciudad Hidalgo to Tapachula on Sunday afternoon and was comprised by 5,333 children, women and men,” El Universal reported. Then 3,000 more men, women and children started “to walk under the rain.”

“Meanwhile, there are 3,000 children, women and men in the Ciudad Hidalgo International bridge, shared by Mexico and Guatemala, who are looking to enter Mexico with documents provided by the INM,” the news outlet said.

The caravan is still more than 1,000 miles away but there are reports that it is receiving aid and transportation from unknown sources.

Trump has warned that there will be consequences.

“Sadly, it looks like Mexico’s Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy. Must change laws!” he wrote on Twitter.

And on Wednesday, he tweeted: “We are a great Sovereign Nation. We have Strong Borders and will never accept people coming into our Country illegally!”

Bloomberg: Democrats should tell the caravan to turn back

Bloomberg News’ Editorial Board has published a piece arguing that Democrats need to stop avoiding discussion of the migrant caravan and start reassuring voters they side with Trump on the need for a secure border. Bloomberg suggests the best thing Democrats could do right now is to tell the migrants to turn back:

In response to the march, President Donald Trump has tweeted his intention to deploy the U.S. military to “close our Southern border.” He’s also threatened to halt U.S. aid to the governments concerned as punishment for failing to block the caravan.

And in response to the president? Well, Democrats have been ominously silent. This is a mistake — and an abdication of responsibility. Democrats, who are trying to make the case for their ascension in the midterm elections, need to make clear that they agree with Trump on the need for a secure border and that they are prepared to work with him to ensure that it remains so.

The first step ought to be straightforward. Democrats should call on the marchers to turn back, far and away the best solution. In this, they ought not to shrink from saying they agree with the president…

Democrats are right to demand compassion for the migrants. But they will be failing the test of leadership if they seem to say the border doesn’t matter or if they cede the governing to Trump. The caravan is coming, and they’ve given no sign that they know what to do.

Also today, the Chicago Tribune’s John Kass notes that Democrats’ response to the caravan has been a “dumb, shocked silence.” He goes on to say that in this case their silence should be taken as consent.

Depending on your politics, you’ve probably already called it something. Or, you may have followed the example of Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer, who’ve found a nice pile of warm sand and stuck their heads in there.

Wasn’t it just months ago that leading Democratic presidential contenders were demanding to abolish the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that deports people here illegally?

Those were the days when the hard left that now controls the Democratic Party made it clear that border enforcement, by its nature, was racist and lacked compassion.

And their allies in the Democratic Media Complex waxed on endlessly about families being separated at the borders, even though they were separated by law after they insisted on crossing the border illegally.

But now, it’s crickets from the Democrats, a dumb, shocked silence.

I wrote about this topic yesterday based on two different opinion pieces, both of which argued Democrats were making a mistake by refusing to find some middle ground on this issue rather than rushing to say the opposite of whatever Trump is saying. But I think Kass is correct in his diagnosis of the reason for the left’s silence. First, they can’t believe this is happening in the midst of their blue wave. For example, here’s how Vox’s story about the caravan opens:

If the migrant caravan didn’t exist, President Donald Trump might have needed to invent it.

The existence of a massive group of Central Americans pushing toward the US without papers — even if they are still hundreds of miles away — seems like something Trump’s GOP might create in a lab to unleash on the eve of the midterms.

But the caravan is real.

Secondly, beyond being stunned, I think Kass is right that the silence from the left is also prompted by the fact that the left doesn’t really believe in the middle-ground position. That may be partly because Trump owns the issue making even a modestly positive comment about the border verboten for Democrats. The left-wing base would not tolerate it because it would sound Trumpian.

But I suspect Trump has actually moved more than a few Democrats leftward on this issue, to the point that they aren’t quite sure borders themselves are a good idea. Some Democrats are probably quietly cheering on the caravan, but they are smart enough to realize that a lot of their constituents aren’t ready for that. It puts them in a tough spot. If you can’t say what you believe and you can’t say what the other guy believes, the only option that remains is silence. And that’s where Democrats are right now, silently consenting because it’s a smarter play than vocally consenting.

Sure, I know the official explanation here is that Democrats have made a strategic decision not to get pulled into Trump’s game. They claim this is about staying focused on winning issues like health care. But that only reinforces the point that this is not a winning issue for the left. They can’t find middle-ground because they don’t believe in it or because they know their constituents don’t.

Report: Snapchat Encouraged More Than 400,000 Users to Register to Vote in ‘Key Battleground States’

Snapchat reportedly encouraged more than 400,000 users to register to vote for the upcoming midterm elections, with “much of the activity” in “key battleground states.”

According to the New York Times, Snap, the company behind Snapchat, “helped more than 400,000 users register to vote during a recent two-week period,” proving even more influential than musician Taylor Swift, who also prompted over 166,000 people to register.

“Much of the activity, the company said, was in key battleground states like Texas, Florida and Georgia,” the Times reported, explaining that Snapchat “pushed people 18 and over to register by adding a button about doing so on each user’s profile page,” and “sent video messages to all of those users urging them to register.”

In a statement, Snap’s Global Head of Public Policy, Jennifer Stout, declared, “There is no more powerful form of self-expression than the ability to vote… The numbers we’ve seen have been fantastic and have shown us that our users have been some of the most engaged communities out there.”

Snapchat, which employs former CNN correspondent Peter Hamby as its head of news, has previously proven very popular with Democratic party candidates for advertising to a younger audience, with Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley all utilizing the platform in 2016.

Most major Big Tech companies launched initiatives to encourage their users to register to vote for the midterms, including Google, Facebook, and Twitter.

Right on Cue… In NYT Op-Ed, Soros’ Son Blames Trump and “Demonization of Political Opponents” For Bomb Packages

Right on Cue… In NYT Op-Ed, Soros’ Son Blames Trump and “Demonization of Political Opponents” For Bomb Packages

Cristina Laila

October 24, 2018

George Soros, Alexander Soros

Several mail bombs were sent to Democrat leaders Wednesday–none of which detonated.

The Secret Service announced that suspicious packages were sent to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

George Soros, NY Governor Cuomo, former AG Eric Holder, Rep. Maxine Waters were also sent suspicious packages.

Right on cue, George Soros’ son, Alexander Soros penned a New York Times op-ed blaming President Trump for the mail bombs.

Alexander Soros sure is a fast writer and the editorial board over at the New York Times also worked at lightning speed!

Soros penned a NY Times op-ed titled, “The Hate That is Consuming Us” – “Bombs sent to my father, George Soros, and to former President Obama and Hillary Clinton are a result of our politics of demonizing opponents.”

Alexander Soros via the New York Times:

On Monday afternoon an explosive device was delivered to my father’s home north of New York City. An alert member of our staff recognized the threat and called the police. Fortunately, the authorities were able to detonate the device safely. On Wednesday, the Secret Service said it had intercepted similar devices sent to the offices of former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

We are all grateful that no one was injured, and grateful to those who kept us safe. But the incident was profoundly disturbing — as a threat not just to the safety of our family, neighbors, colleagues and friends, but also to the future of American democracy.

My family is no stranger to the hostilities of those who reject our philosophy, our politics and our very identity. My father grew up in the shadow of the Nazi regime in Hungary. My grandfather secured papers with false names so that they could survive the onslaught against Budapest’s Jews; he helped many others do the same. After the war, as the Communists took power, my father escaped to London, where he studied at the London School of Economics before embarking on what ultimately became a hugely successful career in finance.

Alexander Soros blamed the mail bombs on political demonization.

Now we have attempted bomb attacks. While the responsibility lies with the individual or individuals who sent these lethal devices to my family home and Mr. Obama’s and Ms. Clinton’s offices, I cannot see it divorced from the new normal of political demonization that plagues us today.

Soros then told the readers to go vote in order to stop the politicians (Republicans) who are responsible for undermining our democracy–HOW CONVENIENT!

We must find our way to a new political discourse that shuns the demonization of all political opponents. A first step would be to cast our ballots to reject those politicians cynically responsible for undermining the institutions of our democracy. And we must do it now, before it is too late.

Klavan: Democrats Say Trump Is Making Caravan About Race And Fear. It’s The Other Way Around.

The Left is making a big deal about President Trump’s vow to not let the migrant caravan into the United States, saying the President is using it as a way to make the midterm elections about race and fear. But is he really? Or is the left-wing media actually doing that? The Daily Wire’s own Andrew Klavan broke it down on Tuesday’s episode of “The Andrew Klavan Show.”

“This narrative about race, it’s all the Democrats have,” he said. “The economy is doing great, our foreign policy is really working, good judges who will obey the law are being appointed. Trump is doing a fantastic job as President of the United States – no matter what his personal flaws – he’s doing a good job.”

He continued: “The only thing they’ve got is this narrative about race, and the effect that it has is really pernicious, it really shapes people’s minds in ugly ways and it does it even if you fight back. Especially if you fight back by calling them hypocrites, because then you’re buying into the narrative. If they say ‘oh you’re a racist you white man!’ and you say ‘what? You called me a white man, you’re a racist!’ That’s buying into the narrative that we should be looking at each other in terms of the color of our skin, it’s like looking at the world through a pane of glass, it’s pointing out that only allows you to see people by the color of their skin. But what if we take that pane of glass away, what do we see then?”

Klavan explained, “I want to talk about this in terms of this ‘caravan’ they call it, or ‘invasion’ if you will, of migrants coming our way. A lot of them from Honduras, now they say it’s almost 7000 strong, they say people are joining this. I don’t want to join in in the kind of nasty right-wing tone where we talk about ‘oh I hate these people.’”

He added, “A lot of them are probably refugees, a lot of them are probably running away. But the rule about a refugee is the first free country you come to is the one you have to apply for refugee status, you can’t walk through Mexico and come to the United States and say ‘oh I’m desperate to get out,’ because if you were desperate you would have applied for refugee status in Mexico. So none of this stuff is legitimate, it was arranged.”

Video and transcript below:

This narrative about race, it’s all the Democrats have. The economy is doing great, our foreign policy is really working, good judges who will obey the law are being appointed, Trump is doing a fantastic job as President of the United States – no matter what his personal flaws – he’s doing a good job. The only thing they’ve got is this narrative about race, and the effect that it has is really pernicious, it really shapes people’s minds in ugly ways and it does it even if you fight back. Especially if you fight back by calling them hypocrites, because then you’re buying into the narrative. If they say “oh you’re a racist you white man!” and you say “what? But what if we take that pane of glass away, what do we see then?

I want to talk about this in terms of this “caravan” they call it, or “invasion” if you will, of migrants coming our way. A lot of them from Honduras, now they say it’s almost 7000 strong, they say people are joining this. I don’t want to join in in the kind of nasty right-wing tone where we talk about “oh I hate these people.” A lot of them are probably refugees, a lot of them are probably running away. But the rule about a refugee is the first free country you come to is the one you have to apply for refugee status, you can’t walk through Mexico and come to the United States and say “oh I’m desperate to get out”, because if you were desperate you would have applied for refugee status in Mexico. So none of this stuff is legitimate, it was arranged. There’s a piece in The Wall Street Journal comparing it to the Mariel boatlift that was in 1980, if you ever saw the movie “Scarface” with Al Pacino, that’s about the Mariel boatlift. Essentially Castro emptied his prisons and poured these people into boats, and they all came over and we wanted to take them in, we wound up with all these people, some of whom were really bad guys, and Miami paid the price. If you watch that movie “Scarface” that’s what it’s about, with the usual Oliver Stone left-wing nonsense thrown in.

This caravan was organized by a guy named Bartolo Fuentes who is a communist, he’s from the Libre party. Libre is the party of the former President Manuel Zelaya who was an ally of Venezuela and Cuba, and is basically a red, and he tried to stay in office to override the Honduran constitution to remain in office despite a term limit, the Honduran Congress, his own party, the Supreme Court and the Catholic Church all opposed him, and he finally was removed by the military and never returned to power in spite of the fact that someone tried to keep him in power, namely the Barack Obama administration, but he didn’t make it so he organized this stuff as a way of getting at us, as a way of getting at America. It then got out of control, it got bigger than he thought it was, he was just bringing together disparate people who wanted to get out, but that means that someone is funding this. We don’t know who it was, we don’t know who is paying for these people to come together but someone is. Here’s what our evil President is saying about people who try to get into this country illegally:

Barack Obama: “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked, and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently, and lawfully to become immigrants in this country.”

Okay, that was actually the evil President, what I meant was Trump, I can understand I confused you on that one, but let’s get Trump on the caravan:

Donald Trump: “We have been giving so much money, but when we asked them to keep their people in their country they’re unable to do it, it’s called make America great again…Take your camera, go into the middle and search, you’re gonna find MS-13, you’re gonna find Middle Eastern, you’re gonna find everything, and guess what? We’re not allowing them in our country. We want safety.”

Here is the New York Times, a former newspaper, reporting on what Trump is doing – and this is indicative of all reporting, it’s not just the Times, it is all the left-wing reporters that are doing this: “Trump and GOP candidates escalate race and fear as election ploys”. Now did you hear him mention race in there? Did he say a word about the race of the people coming over? No, he didn’t. More from the article: “President Trump on Monday sharply intensified a Republican campaign to frame the midterm elections as a battle over immigration and race, issuing a dark and factually baseless warning that unknown Middle Easterners were marching toward the American border with Mexico.”

First of all, Sarah Sanders said that at least 10 Middle Easterners come in almost every day or every week, I can’t remember which she said, but that’s not the point. Obviously this has been a worry ever since 9/11, that terrorists would use our open borders, our unprotected borders, to slip people in. There has never been a terrorist attack committed by an illegal immigrant, one guy who came in I think from Somalia did go up to Canada and try something, but that has not been a thing, but that doesn’t mean that that’s not something we should worry about. So when they say it’s factually baseless, they should take Trump’s advice and go down there – they’re a newspaper, go down and find out if what he’s telling is the truth. If they’re gonna tell us there are no criminals – if they come across the border they are criminals, so that’s ridiculous, we know that criminals come in. For research on writing my crime novels I have visited the federal prison here and state prisons, and let me tell you something, a lot of the people in those prisons are illegal. The fact that there’s no factual basis is just nonsense, and what has it got to do with race?

So Venezuela was behind the great Honduras migrant caravan all along?

According to Vice President Mike Pence, Honduras’s president, Juan Orlando Hernández, told him that the illegal migrant caravan heading from his country through Mexico on to the U.S. is the work of Chavista Venezuela, with that country’s oil cash being employed to destabilize both countries.

Here’s what Breitbart reported, citing an interview with the Washington Post’s Bob Costa:

Vice President Mike Pence on Tuesday said Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández told him that the migrant caravan marching toward the U.S.-Mexico border is “financed by Venezuela.” …

The Vice President then revealed that Hernández told him that “leftist groups” from the Central American country organized the caravan, “financed by Venezuela” to “challenge our sovereignty, challenge our border.”

That’s quite an equation-changer, and it squares with what I argued yesterday, here and here:

Who is it?  Is it Soros, the hedge fund leftist billionaire of chaos who vowed to shell out $500 million for migrants a few years back?  Democrats, the same people who had tens of millions to pay for a fake dossier in a bid to win an election and who have lately been struggling to win the Latino vote?  Or is it, as I suspect, Chavista Venezuelan oil money, given the Chavistas’ stated desire to flood America with indigent migrants (which has been around as a threat ever since Hugo Chávez taunted the U.S. over is border in the 2000s) as a means of spreading its revolution northward?  The Chavista ties of the caravan’s front-group organizers, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, as well as its known Chavez-supporting Honduran ringleaders, are rather obvious.

The one clue we have starts with the two governments of Guatemala and Honduras, both of which have conservative, anti-Chavista governments.  They also have disgustingly rabid left-wing oppositions, the kind of people who openly admire Hugo Chávez and his utterly failed socialist revolution.  They like Cuba’s government, too.  They are rabid left-wingers, and they seek above all to destabilize and topple the countries of their origin in order to see those countries join their heroes.  They can’t get elected anymore, so this is what they do.

Remember Honduras in 2009?  The good Honduran people and their legislators rose up to throw out a Chavista pawn, Manuel Zelaya, who wanted to make himself dictator for life, as Chávez did.  That was the guy who got thrown out of the presidency by troops in his pajamas (actually, he was naked when he was rousted for bed, but the press liked the pajama story) and wore a cowboy hat.  He then got the whole hemisphere, via the Organization of American States, to condemn the Hondurans and sanction their country (making Chávez very empowered), just because they refused to be ruled forever by a communist.  ”Better a year of sanctions than 20 years of Chávez,” as one of the freedom-loving Hondurans said.  The Hondurans, led by the honorable Roberto Micheletti, toughed it out, suffering Obama administration sanctions so their country could be free.

There are still all kinds of problems left in Honduras, but the big one is the presence of radical Chavista leftists and their liberation theology church- and NGO-connected sidekicks who are still stirring the pot, offering free stuff as a substitute for an economy and making things ungovernable.  Their ultimate aim, now that their name stinks with voters after the 2009 fiasco, is to destabilize what little is left of battered Honduras in the name of la revolución by force or chaos or whateversince they can’t get elected.  What better way than to launch an unpopular migrant march to put pressure from President Trump on their governments as well as teach gringo a lesson that his borders mean nothing?

We do have a concrete clue in how the caravan was set up: with an offer of free stuff on the television and by, sure enough, one Bartolo Fuentes, an out-of-work politician and “journalist” known for being a left-wing supporter of Zelaya and Chávez.

According to the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page:

A Mariel replay now seems to be coming from Honduras.  Though the details are murky, we do know that former Honduran congressman Bartolo Fuentes of the left-wing Libre Party has admitted to organizing this caravan.

Libre is the party of former president Manuel Zelaya, an ally of Venezuela and Cuba who in 2009 tried to override the Honduran constitution to remain in office despite a term limit.  The Honduran congress, his own party, the Supreme Court, the national ombudsman and the Catholic Church opposed his power grab.  He was removed by the military and never returned to power despite the efforts of the Obama Administration.

But Mr. Zelaya remains active in politics.  While center-right President Juan Orlando Hernández has encouraged Hondurans on the journey to return home and even has offered them assistance, Mr. Zelaya is egging them on.

In a press release last week, he accused Mr. Hernández of a “submissive and lackey attitude” toward “the arrogant position of the empire” and criticized Mr. Hernández’s efforts to “deepen failed economic policies” like privatization.  The opposition is now calling for street protests with a threat that if Mr. Hernández does not step down, the migration wave will continue.

Under pressure, he now denies that he offered any free stuff and says he has no Venezuela ties, but that seems to be belied by the television reporting.  Note also his marked use of Chavista buzzwords in his speech – calling the U.S. “the empire.”  Only Hugo Chávez used to do that.

The president of Honduras knew what the game was, which is why he called up the president of Guatemala and asked him to remove the guy.  The president of Guatemala, Jimmy Morales, believed him; busted the guy; and shipped him back home to Honduras, where he promptly initiated U.S. flag-burning at the U.S. embassy.

The claims of Fuentes that he offered no support to would-be migrants are rather belied by the fact that migrants were first filmed taking paychecks, as seen on Twitter.  Then there’s the fact that trucks are taking the migrants northward, and trucks are expensive.  Someone is paying for that.  What’s more, migrants are abandoning expensive baby strollers to get on those trucks.  Very poor people tend to be reluctant to abandon expensive things without compensation.

Meanwhile, let’s go take a look at the U.S. leftists, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, who are on this side of things, and who have a base in Tijuana, on the border with San Diego, which is where the migrants are now heading, despite the fact that it greatly increases the length of their journey.  The base is there, so that’s where they are going.  PSF has done previous stunts of this kind, notably last April, and its website is loaded with Chavista propaganda, as I noted earlier.  It’s certainly tied to this effort.

Chávez himself, when he was alive, had a thing for using migrants to destabilize the U.S. and once said he wanted to head for the U.S. border to encourage just that.  Now, it appears, la lucha se continúa with his remaining minions, and their animating motives are to destabilize Central American countries, not just the U.S.  Venezuela is in bad shape, and it seems likely that those in power there would not have that much money to throw around at international adventurism, but they’ve also got quite a bit of malice toward the U.S. for its sanctions on Venezuela’s top officials and a desperate desire to seem relevant, what with all the news about the country’s own migrant outpouring.  Could the Venezuelan honchos cook something like this up and finance it?  Motive-wise, they could; infrastructure-wise, with all the lefty activists out there, they could; and money-wise, it’s not out of the question.  Let’s just remind ourselves that the presidents of Honduras and Guatemala have reason to believe it.

Texas Democrats still mailing voter registration forms to people who died in the 1980s

Bring out yer dead! And get them registered to vote. Or at least that seems to be the message coming from Texas Democrats this month. The Dallas CBS outlet reported this week that Texas Democrats have been aggressively mailing out voter registration forms to people all across the state. Nothing wrong with that, of course, except that some of the intended recipients are not actually eligible to vote because their current status includes the phrase “six feet under.” One woman named Ola Allen was the unfortunate recipient of no less than three of these forms, leaving her in an emotionally distressed state.

Allen received a voter registration application in the mail addressed to her husband, Eroy. He died nearly three years ago. She also received an application for her mother who died two years ago.

Allen initially chalked it up to an honest mistake, but then she received another voter registration application. This one Allen said was inexcusable and hurtful. It was addressed to her daughter Karen.

“I just set it down because I lost it. I really lost it,” Allen explained.

Karen is Allen’s youngest daughter. She died when she was 21 years old in 1989.

We should be clear in pointing out that simply sending out a voter registration form isn’t illegal, even if it “accidentally” goes to a dead person. Both parties do this, though the batch examined for this article was sent out by the state Democratic Party. But if someone else takes any of those forms, fills them out and sends them in then there is a crime taking place. We already covered the ring of voter fraud recently exposed in Texas where people were filling out ballots for people, tricking them into signing them and sending them in. This little glitch probably makes that job a lot easier.

A spokesperson for the Democratic Party told CBS that the mailing of all these registration forms was part of an “unprecedented investment to provide eligible Texans with the opportunity to vote.“ I agree. If you’re sending out registration forms to three dead people in a single household, that’s pretty unprecedented, alright.

The Texas Secretary of State’s office claims that there’s little danger of voter fraud from this mess because they take steps to prevent it. The only “step” they specify is cross-referencing the returned registration forms with the Social Security Administration’s list of people who have died. That’s a sensible precaution and it no doubt weeds out some of the errors, but it’s not an acceptable level of real security.

We’ve covered this here before, but the database they’re relying on is the Social Security Death Index (SSDI). The problem is that their Full Death Master File (yes, that’s a creepy name) is in no way comprehensive. Submissions of death records to the file come from a mixed bag of sources and it’s totally voluntary. As of a couple of years ago, the index contained the names of 89 million people who have died since 1936. That’s not even remotely close to the actual total. Plus, they have problems with accuracy. An audit conducted in 2011 found that the file incorrectly listed 23,000 people as dead in a two-year period.

If you want to get this aspect of clean voter roles and suppression of potential voter fraud under control we have a larger problem to address. We’re very good at recording births in the United States, but we are abysmal at recording when they die. This leads to fraud problems in Social Security and other entitlement programs, but now we see how it can affect voting as well. Until we find a better way to track who is dead and who is alive at any given time we’ll be chasing our tails on this subject.

Return Address Found On Suspicious Packages Belongs To Well-Known Democrat

Criminal with a bad sense of humor? Or loony toon who actually things police would believe that?

Via Daily Wire:

Four suspicious packages sent to prominent Democrats – and CNN – all contained the same return address, law enforcement officials said.

Suspicious packages were intercepted before they reached former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Another package was discovered in CNN’s New York City bureau mailroom. A fourth package was discovered at Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL) Sunrise, FL, office.

The packages all had one odd thing in common: The return addresses belonged to Wasserman Schultz, law enforcement officials told NBC.
