Trump tweets that he will end aid to Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador over migrant caravan

On Monday, President Donald Trump tweeted that he would be ending or “substantially reducing” foreign aid to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. These three countries combined got more than $400 million from the U.S. in 2016, the most recent year for which complete data are available.

What did Trump say?

Trump tweeted Monday that he had alerted the U.S. Border Patrol and the military “that this is a National Emergency.”
He  said that the United States would "begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them.”
While the president can freeze foreign aid payments for 45 days, ultimately the authority to cancel them rests with Congress. One exception to this rule would be if the president could prove that the nations in question violated conditions that were placed on the aid. However, it is unclear if such a situation exists in this case.
He also claimed that "unknown Middle Easterners" were "mixed in" with the Central American migrants. He has not clarified how he knows that Middle Easterners were part of this migrant caravan.

On Oct. 16, Trump had threatened in a tweet to stop sending money to Honduras “if the large Caravan of people heading to the U.S. is not stopped and brought back to Honduras.”
At the time of this tweet, the migrant caravan numbered roughly 1,600. It has now estimated to have swelled to more than 7,000.
The migrants say that they are trying to escape violence and poverty.  In 2017, Honduras was ranked the most dangerous travel destination in the world.

How much aid is the U.S. sending to these nations?

Speaking to media at the White House on Tuesday, Trump said that the U.S. was giving "hundreds of millions of dollars" to these three nations. In 2016, which was a record year for Guatemala and Honduras, the total number for the three nations was $419,068,700.
According to USAID, in 2016 (the most recent year for which complete data are available), the United States gave Honduras $152,015,404. The numbers for 2017 show that the U.S. has given Honduras at least $144 million, and that number will likely rise as final reports are compiled.
Guatemala received $176,928,403 from the U.S. in 2016. In 2017, that number rose to roughly $229 million.
El Salvador got the least amount of foreign aid out of these three nations, with $90,125,230 in 2016 and a tentative total of $91 million in 2017.

Illegal Aliens Chant “Si Se Puede!” as Caravan of Invaders Swells to 14,000

Illegal Aliens Chant “Si Se Puede!” as Caravan of Invaders Swells to 14,000

The illegal aliens were chanting, “Se se puede!” (Yes we can!) as they lurched closer to the United States on Monday. The number of illegals in the first “caravan” has swelled to 14,000 members.

President Trump tweeted out against the massive army of illegals marching towards the US southern border.

The Washington Times reported:

Members of the illegal immigrant caravan chanted “si se pudo!” as they made their way north through Mexico Monday, having defied the will of one country and vowing to test the spine of another, the U.S., very soon.

The chant, which translates roughly as “Yes we could,” is a takeoff on the “Si se puede” — Yes we can! — cheer that immigrant-rights activists have used for years, and which the Obama campaign co-opted in 2008.

Mexican police, who failed to stop them at that country’s border with Guatemala, now serve as escorts for the caravan as it barrels north, its members clear that they have no intention of staying in Mexico, and have eyes only for the U.S..

New estimates cited by El Universal, a Mexican newspaper, say the caravan now has 14,000 people, many of them already in Mexico while others still wait.

Previously Deported Illegal Aliens Join Caravan: ‘It’s Time for Me to Go Back’

Previously deported illegal aliens are joining the now 7,000-strong migrant caravan headed to the United States-Mexico border, to inundate and overwhelm the country’s asylum and immigration system.

A new report by the Washington Post reveals that the migrant caravan now includes illegal aliens who have already been deported from the U.S., but who are looking to illegally re-enter through the southern border with the caravan.

As noted by the Post, illegal aliens who have been deported multiple times are now a part of the caravan, including 29-year-old Imner Anthony Fuentes, who has been deported from the U.S. six times.

“That’s just how it is,” Fuentes told the Post. “They catch you, and you try to get back.”

Fuentes was most recently deported five months ago for the sixth time out of Birmingham, Alabama. Another previously deported illegal alien, 36-year-old Job Reyes, has joined the caravan.

“It’s time for me to go back to the United States. It’s a country where I can live my life, unlike Guatemala,” Reyes told the Post. Reyes was deported after over-staying his visa for 14 years.

“When I heard about the caravan, I knew it was my chance,” Reyes told the Post.

Another previously deported illegal alien, 32-year-old Juan Jimenez, told the Post he joined the caravan as well in an effort to go back to working in the country.

President Trump on Monday announced that he would begin the process of cutting off foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador for their inability to stop the migrant caravan from marching up to the U.S.-Mexico border. The president also called the caravan a “national emergency.”

“Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador were not able to do the job of stopping people from leaving their country and coming illegally to the U.S.,” President Trump tweeted. “We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them.”

The Central American countries receive more than $500 million in federal aid from the U.S. every year. Trump has not yet indicated how much of that federal aid will be cut.

As Breitbart News‘s Neil Munro reported, migrants with the caravan profiled by the New York Times and the Associated Press have all noted that their main goal once arriving in the U.S. is looking for a job — which is not an eligible claim for asylum.

Breitbart Texas reported that the migrant caravan stormed through Mexico last week, tearing down a border barrier in the process as they cross from Guatemala to Mexico.

Less than six months ago, a similar migrant caravan was allowed to cross into the U.S. with weak asylum claims despite threats from President Trump of closing down the border. Many migrants from that caravan are now illegal aliens living in the U.S. as they await their asylum hearings.

Currently, the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million legal and illegal immigrants every year, with more than 70 percent coming to the country through the process known as “chain migration,” whereby newly naturalized citizens are allowed to bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country.

The mass illegal and legal importation of mostly low-skilled foreign workers is a boon to big business and Wall Street, but results in decades of poor job growth, stagnant wages, and increased public costs for working and middle-class Americans.

Spanish-language network reporter reveals who is ‘infiltrating’ migrant caravan heading to US

A reporter for the Spanish-language network Univision revealed that he had met people from a Muslim-majority country were infiltrating the migrant caravan from Honduras headed towards the U.S. border. “They infiltrated themselves in this caravan"
Univision correspondent Francisco Santa Anna was reporting from a bridge in Guatemala where the migrant caravan was attempting to cross into Mexico on their way to the United States. Santa Anna said he had himself met people from Bangladesh. The Daily Caller reported a translation of Santa Anna’s claims as he reported from Mexico. “The borders in Central American are not as strong as the U.S., which makes it possible for people from Panama and Ecuador to cross easily,” Santa Anna explained. “They cross from Costa Rica, then later go through Guatemala and eventually make it into our country.”
“Yesterday when we were traveling through Guatemala, we noticed people from El Salvador and even people from Bangladesh,” he continued. “Can you imagine what they had to do to get here?" he said. "They infiltrated themselves in this caravan and tried to cross with the crowd. That would have benefited them greatly.”
Santa Anna continued to say that they were identified and detained by immigration officials. Here’s the video of the report in Spanish from the Daily Caller:

Mexican officials appeared to listen to President Donald Trump’s demands to stop the caravan from arriving at the U.S. border, but recent reports indicate that some officials are aiding the migrants on their trek. The Mexican ambassador to the U.S. admitted Thursday on Fox News that they believed the caravan to be at least in part politically motivated.
“We have evidence that this caravan is also very much politically motivated,” ambassador Gutierrez said. “We’re obviously sensitive to the humanitarian situation that we encounter, and we’re acting precisely.
“But we have also made very clear that there’s no legal ground on which Mexico can issue a permit by which people can just go through Mexico toward the United States,” he concluded.

Caravan migrant army attacks Mexican cops, provisions itself robbing Mexican markets

To hear the left tell it, the vast Honduran migrant caravan, as many as 10,000-strong now, crawling up to the U.S. border to illegally enter the U.S. couldn’t possibly have criminals in its ranks.

Get a load of this exchange between President Trump and a mainstream media minion, as reported by the Daily Mail:

At one point during the briefing, Emily Cochrane, a reporter for The New York Times, asked Trump: ‘What evidence do you have that these are hardened criminals that are coming to the United States?’

Trump appeared agitated.

‘Oh please. Please, don’t be a baby, OK,’ the president said. ‘Take a look, just take a look, look at what’s happening, look at the Mexican soldiers that are laying on the ground.

‘Take a look. These are hardened – I didn’t say in all cases but in many cases these are hardened criminals.

‘These are tough, tough people.

‘And I don’t want them in our country and neither does our country want them in our country.’

Maybe it was a sincere, if naive, question. But Trump doesn’t have to really prove anything, given that the migrants seem to be hellbent on breaking immigration law even if they really are just the sweet little daisies portrayed by the press. However, on Twitter, the evidence is mounting that Trump is right because we are already seeing evidence that the marching group is acting like an invading army, with crimes such as assault and robbery as the horde snakes through Mexico northward:

For starters, the migrants threw rocks and beat up Mexican cops as they busted their way through its southern border. Here’s an irate Twitter users tweet with a photo:

Now we have reports of robbery of Mexican shops, along with a video, posted for all to see by other Twitterers. The report looks fairly credible:

The reality is, people who leave their homes often have very good reasons for leaving and those reasons are not always pretty ones. Crooks often are the first people to leave home for a fresh start, and they’re actually a vanguard of sorts in mass migrations. Read anything by Eric Hoffer to understand the key role of the misfit in mass movements and migrations, and this Honduran long march looks like both. Hoffer understood the dynamic perfectly.

But such realities do spoil the media’s “narrative” which has been to focus solely on pictures of the few toddlers being subject to marching in that rabble, (which looks like child abuse, the more we see of this bunch) and reporting immigration issues solely in terms of sob stories, massaged for maximum pity-party effect. Fact is, most migrants are not the poorest of the poor as depicted, but the lower middle classes of these countries, and people with savings and cash to pay smugglers, in search of bigger benefit packages.

For real refugees, you have to look south to the horrors of Venezuela, where migrants don’t march in organized groups with paychecks to boot, let alone wave the Venezuelan banner, burn the flag of the country they claim to be desperate to live in, or break down borders by beating up cops. Some among them, for sure, are robbers, as happens in all mass migrations – the Brazil border incident revealed that for certain. But they’re also people like this, desperate to escape socialism, running to first and second countries of refuge such as Peru, and not waving or burning any flags. Nor are they looking to vote more socialism in.

Somehow, there seem to be more criminals among the less-desperate populations of military-aged young men from Honduras heading northward on the logic that they have a right to enter.

And make no mistake, if they get in, the crime that makes their countries so miserable in the first place, will flow here from it.

Migrant Caravan Points Way to GOP Midterm Success

The current caravan is a group of four- to seven-thousand Hondurans, traveling from Honduras to the United States. Google Maps shows the distance between San Pedro Sula, the large city in Honduras where the march started, and Brownsville, Texas, the most logical border city, as about 1,408 miles, a 500-hour trek on foot.

Fox News screenshot

Assuming generously that the caravan walks 10 hours a day, it will take the group 46 days to reach the U.S., long after the upcoming midterm election. It’s also safe to assume that they are riding most of the way, on trucks or busses.

Interestingly, the caravan consists primarily of military-aged men, as opposed to women and children, as this photo from the Daily Mail demonstrates. Women and children are few, and mainly being used as photo props. The migrant hordes entering Europe from the Middle East were also primarily young men.

Screenshot from Fox News

What the media is surprisingly incurious about is who is paying for this journey. Thousands of adults and children on a 45-day trek, need food, water, bathroom facilities, first aid, and other services that all cost money. The New York Times was all over the false story of United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley ordering extravagant new drapes, but they are uninterested in funding of this enormously costly caravan.

The timing is also suspicious. This caravan is making its move in October, the month of “surprises” ahead of a major election. Two years ago, it was the Access Hollywood tapes. This October brought us last-minute Justice Kavanaugh accusations, Senator Elizabeth Warren unsuccessfully attempting to prove herself Native American, a suspicious murder in Turkey implicating the Saudi royal family, and now this supposedly spontaneous migrant caravan.

The only common denominator is an upcoming election, one of the utmost importance to Democrats, on political life support, desperately trying to regain power and relevance. These events are not coincidental, instead all are preplanned and part of an electoral strategy.

The migrant horde, at least 4,000 in number, seek better socio-economic opportunity in the United States, something lacking in their home country. They are not alone. Some 150 million adults worldwide would migrate to the U.S. if they could. Bringing their children, parents, and extended families could double this number, and double the U.S. population if they all actually came here. That would fulfill Barack Obama’s dream of “fundamentally transforming America” although not in a good way.

Without language or other skills necessary to be productive in the U.S. (and Central American nations rank the lowest in the hemisphere for English), most would be enjoying the health, education, and welfare benefits of the U.S. courtesy of already overtaxed US citizens. What else might they be bringing?

How about diseases, particularly those common in their home countries, but not in the U.S.? I’ve written about drug-resistant TB, scabies, chicken pox and hepatitis crossing the border with these migrants. Chagas disease is the latest regional scourge turning up in the U.S. Terrorists could also easily join the caravan, bringing in weapons and ideologies of mass destruction to the U.S. Already, the president of Guatemala has stated he’s found such terrorists in his country. This, in addition to run of the mill criminals – thieves, murderers, rapists, gang members, and the like. Remember Kate Steinle?

Interesting that 100 ISIS terrorists were caught in Guatemala at the same time the caravan moved toward the U.S. How many were not caught and remain within the caravan? Democrats and the media seem non-plussed about this clear and present threat to America.

Recently there has been an uptick in acute flaccid myelitis, a polio-like neurologic illness affecting mostly children, untreatable, and often leading to permanent paralysis. Polio has been mostly eradicated but is still prevalent in Nigeria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.  It has also returned to Venezuela, a side benefit of their full-on socialism.

Could any of these caravan migrants be from these countries and carrying a polio-like illness? Does everyone entering the U.S. receive a physical exam? Is the recent outbreak of acute flaccid myelitis a coincidence or is it related? The CDC is mum on the subject, so we can only speculate and try to connect the dots.

Democrats hope the caravan will hurt President Trump. Images of the U.S. military turning away migrants from the border will dominate the news cycle. All that’s necessary is for a Democrat brown-shirt activist, inserted into the caravan, attempting to trigger a violent response from the military or an ICE agent, captured and edited by preplaced media operatives, all to damage Trump and Republicans ahead of the midterms.

Trump is wisely encouraging Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico to stop the caravan, wielding a big economic stick as he makes these countries an offer they can’t refuse. After two years, they already know not to cross Trump, especially on his signature issue of border security. So far, Mexico is listening to Trump, attempting to stop the caravan on their southern border.

I have a better idea. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell should call their respective houses of Congress into emergency session to vote on completely funding the wall on the U.S. southern border. After all, this is a matter of national security and urgency.

Let every member of Congress go on record as for or against border and national security. Then load up all illegal immigrants currently in U.S. detention centers into busses and send them to the local campaign offices of all members of Congress, regardless of party, who voted against protecting and securing our borders.

Drop them off in San Francisco, Manhattan, Portland, and Seattle, at the district offices of those voting ‘no’ on the wall. Let these Representatives and Senators contend with illegal immigrants in their neighborhoods and districts. How will the voters like a small migrant caravan in their towns? Perhaps they can then ask their elected officials why they refuse to do anything to stop or prevent this? What a good question to ask a few days before an election.

Let the Democrats defend opening our country to those disrespecting America, as this photo of two migrants burning the American flag on the Guatemala-Mexico border illustrates.

Those virtue signaling over the plight of illegal immigrants can live with the consequences of their virtue. If the immigrants are all law-abiding, hard-working, productive members of society, then these communities should be delighted with their new residents. If they are something else, then too bad.

Elections have consequences. Vote for a party that wants open borders and unlimited immigration, then live with the results of that decision, but at home, in their backyard, not somewhere else. It’s only when voters and legislators have to live with the consequences of their votes do the votes seem to matter.

How would that be for an October surprise, this time for the Democrats.

Caravan refers to, “A group of travelers, as merchants or pilgrims, journeying together for safety in passing through deserts or hostile territory.” Conjuring up images dating back to biblical days of people braving hardship during their travels, the media has coopted the term for political benefit to describe a horde of illegal immigrants heading to the U.S. just ahead of a major election.

They are neither merchants nor pilgrims. I doubt they are facing severe hardship during their journey as most of their basic needs are being met courtesy of wealthy benefactors.

‘Religious Bigots’ Are Right: Virginity Before Marriage Makes Women Happier

Much to the chagrin of those on the Left who routinely mock genuinely religious people as closed-minded bigots and prudes who hinder others from pursuing their hedonistic predilections, a new study has bolstered the case for people abstaining from sex until marriage.

As The Atlantic reluctantly reports, at the Institute for Family Studies, Nicholas Wolfinger, a sociologist at the University of Utah, concluded in his study that Americans who remained celibate until they were married were quite likely to say they were in a “very happy” marriage. Conversely, women with the lowest odds of marital happiness were those with six to 10 sexual partners in their lives. Men with various sexual partners before they were married were also less happy than those who had only slept with their wives, although the plunge in marital satisfaction was less steep than it was for women who had numerous sexual partners.

The study found that women who had only slept with their spouses were roughly five percentage points happier in their marriages. The Atlantic, apparently disturbed by that supposition, quickly added, “This analysis merely suggests that sleeping with fewer people is correlated with marital happiness; it doesn’t say one thing predicts the other. Even people who have slept with the entire Polyphonic Spree could go on to live in blissful matrimony.”

The Atlantic quoted an earlier analysis from Wolfinger, which found that women who had only slept with their husbands or at most one other man were least likely to divorce, while those with 10 or more were most likely. Wolfinger added that by the 2010s, only 5% of new brides were virgins, and only 6% of them went through a divorce within five years. Most other new brides suffered a 20% rate of divorce.

A 2003 study published in the Journal of Marriage and Family buttressed the claim that abstinence before marriage bodes well for marriages; it stated:

Marriages preceded by a spell of cohabitation are as much as 50% more likely to end in divorce at any marital duration than marriages not preceded by cohabitation … premarital sex and, increasingly, premarital cohabitation have become a normal and accepted part of the courtship process in the contemporary United States, for at least some couples, one might expect little association between the risk of subsequent marital dissolution if it is limited to one’s eventual marital partner. However, an intimate premarital relationship with someone other than one’s marital partner may indicate increased risk to subsequent marital disruption. Multiple premarital sexual partners may indicate less commitment to the idea of a permanent relationship with one individual. Multiple sexual partners may also weaken the marital bond by heightening awareness of alternatives to one’s marital partner as sources of sexual intimacy and fulfillment.

Another study, this one sponsored by The National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia, stated, “In our sample, only 23 percent of the individuals who got married over the course of the study had had sex solely with the person they married. That minority of men and women reported higher marital quality than those who had had sex with other partners prior to marriage. We further found that the more sexual partners a woman had had before marriage, the less happy she reported her marriage to be.”

After offering a multitude of other reasons why women who abstained from sex before marriage might be happier than other married women (perish the thought that virginity might have something to do with it), The Atlantic offered this comfort for sexually profligate women:

Of course, all these data points might also start to imply that a happy marriage is life’s ultimate goal for everyone, which it might not be. Perhaps all the premarital sex you had was satisfying enough to make up for even the dreariest of unions. Maybe for you, it’s all about the journey, not the destination, bro.

PHOTO: Caravan Protesters Paint Swastika on American Flag, Burn It in the Street

A photo from the Associated Press shows protesters burning an American flag with a swastika painted on it in support of the migrant caravan heading through Central America for the United States.

“Two people burn a United States flag during a protest in favor of the caravan of migrants that is currently stuck on the Guatemala-Mexico border, in front of the American embassy, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Friday, Oct. 19, 2018,” the AP Images description reads in part.

President Trump expressed in a series of tweets Monday morning that the caravan is a national emergency and warned that “criminals and unknown Middle Easterners” could be in the caravan as well.

“Sadly, it looks like Mexico’s Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy. Must change laws!” Trump tweeted.

“Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change our pathetic Immigration Laws! Remember the Midterms! So unfair to those who come in legally,” Trump wrote.

The president also said that Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras will have their “massive” foreign aid reduced.

Donald Trump Alerts Military: Migrant Caravan Now a National Emergency

President Donald Trump alerted the military on Monday, as the caravan of migrants crossed into Mexico.

“I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy (sic),” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Must change laws!”

The president announced the news after the caravan that originated in Honduras swarmed over the southern Mexico border over the weekend, increasing to 7,000 people.

“Sadly, it looks like Mexico’s Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in.”

The president has repeatedly vowed to stop the caravan from crossing into the United States, urging his supporters to support Republicans in the midterms.

“Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change our pathetic Immigration Laws!” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Remember the Midterms! So unfair to those who come in legally.”

Trump also said he would start cutting off federal aid to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.

“We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them,” he wrote.

Pope Francis Calls Catholics to ‘Global Solidarity Walk’ for Migrants

Pope Francis plugged the one-million-kilometer “Global Solidarity Walk” for migrants and refugees Sunday, urging all Catholics to participate in the pro-immigration event.

The walk, organized by international Catholic relief service Caritas Internationalis, involves walking “side by side with migrants and refugees” but also has an explicitly political purpose. By walking together, we “send a strong message of unity to political leaders,” organizers declare.

The pope tweeted Sunday that the pro-immigration walk was like the journey of two disciples on the road to Emmaus after Christ’s resurrection, where they were joined by Jesus as they traveled.

In September 2017, the pope said that it is Jesus Christ himself who asks us to welcome migrants “with arms wide open,” whereas a failure to do so stems from xenophobia.

Opposition to immigration “finds its explanation in an innate fear of the ‘foreigner,’ a fear exacerbated by the wounds caused by the economic crisis, the unpreparedness of the local communities, and the inadequacy of many measures taken in an emergency atmosphere,” Francis said.

That same month, Francis launched a two-year pro-immigration campaign to encourage a more welcoming attitude toward migrants around the world.

The campaign is run by Caritas Internationalis and was launched as a response to Pope Francis’ frequent summons for a “culture of encounter” with immigrants.

Our world “faces not a migration crisis, but a crisis of global solidarity,” Caritas says on its website. “Be part of a worldwide campaign to reach out to migrants, change perceptions, open hearts and minds, and strengthen the bonds that unite us all.”

The project hopes to provoke a “shift in thinking” on the issue of immigration by dispelling common “myths about migration,” the organization states.

On their website, the organization said that popular myths about migration include the idea that there are more migrants than ever before, that migrants live off welfare benefits and steal jobs from citizens, that closing borders will curb migrant flows, and that “people from poor countries migrate to rich ones.”

At a Vatican press conference, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of Manila, president of Caritas Internationalis, said that world leaders should remember that “we are all migrants. Nobody can claim to be a non-migrant, we are all passing in this world.”

“Nobody is a permanent resident,” and no one can claim to “own the space they occupy,” he said, voicing his hope that there would be a universal “conversion of mind” on the issue.
