Palin vs. Murkowski? Former governor issues possible Senate challenge over Kavanaugh vote

Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska was the only Republican to vote "no" in a procedural vote that put Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh one step away from finally being confirmed, which caused former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to issue a veiled threat on Twitter.
Palin, who had been calling for Murkowski to support Kavanaugh, asking the senator to "do the right thing." After the vote, Palin indicated that the decision to oppose Kavanaugh might cost Murkowski her seat.
"Hey @LisaMurkowski – I can see 2022 from my house…" Palin wrote on Twitter. Murkowski’s Senate term ends in 2023, and Palin’s message led some to believe Palin may challenge for the seat. The wording was a reference to a Saturday Night Live skit that made fun of Palin.

Palin wasn’t the only one to question whether Murkowski’s run as Alaska senator needed to end. Fox News host Laura Ingraham tweeted: "I like Alaska…a lot. Maybe it’s time to run for Senate after all. @lisamurkowski has abandoned all principles of due process and fairness. Disgraceful. #ConfirmKavanaugh."

A politically unique state

Murkowski has an interesting history with Palin. Murkowski’s father, former Gov. Frank Murkowski, appointed his daughter to the Senate in 2002 — picking her over Palin.
Palin was governor of Alaska from December 2006 until July 2009, having defeated Murkowski’s father in the primary. Palin supported Republican candidate Joe Miller in the 2010 Senate race, and Miller beat Murkowksi in the primary — but Murkowski defied party leaders to win as a write-in candidate.
In 2016, Murkowski won the Republican Primary, but Miller still ran against her as a Libertarian candidate.
In short, the politics in Alaska are not like the politics in most states, and Murkowski’s relationship with the Republican Party is such that she is less likely than most to feel obligated to vote the party line.
Additionally, the issue of sexual violence is of particular sensitivity in Alaska, which has the highest rate of sexual assault in the country, and is especially high among Native women — a key coalition of support for Murkowski.
Murkowski’s against-the-grain vote on Kavanaugh, combined with her contentious history with Palin, means that in the coming years she may find herself in a somewhat familiar position — battling against the Republican establishment.
"There will be long-term resentment among Republican voters due to Sen. Murkowski’s lack of courage today," said Penny Nance, president of Concerned Women for America, according to The New York Times. "Conservative women never forget."

Scalia’s Daughter-in-Law Goes Nuclear on Democrats over Kavanaugh

Democrats desperately hoped that their antics surrounding the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh would keep him off the Supreme Court … but their actions seem to have seriously backfired.

Instead of stopping the conservative judge, liberals appear to have unified the right.

Recent polls show that voters are re-energized to support Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections, and a majority of citizens of all backgrounds disapprove of how Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, in particular, handled the unproven accusations against Kavanaugh.

Now, it looks like the left’s treatment of Kavanaugh may be repelling political moderates and independents. That’s the message of Adele Scalia, the daughter-in-law of late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in early 2016.

The former justice may have been known as a conservative, but Adele Scalia is not.

TRENDING: Limbaugh Notices ‘Professional’ Voice Technique During Ford Testimony

“I’ve always considered myself politically moderate: I am unapologetically pro-life, but my views on affirmative action, Black Lives Matter, and gun control made me sympathize strongly with Democratic perspectives and occasionally led to arguments with my husband and father-in-law,” she wrote in an Op-Ed piece published by The Federalist.

Scalia checks many of the identity politics boxes revered by modern liberals. She’s a female, of course, and is also a “person of color” who immigrated from Trinidad and Tobago. As she pointed out herself in her article, she was never completely comfortable with the Republican party for a variety of reasons.

All that changed thanks to the appalling treatment of Kavanaugh by Democrats, and their rejection of evidence or presumption of innocence in favor of a political witch hunt.

“I have become a unicorn,” Scalia wrote.

Will the Kavanaugh process drive more voters away from Democrats?

“All it took was Democrats’ treatment of Brett Kavanaugh over the last few weeks to turn me into that elusive creature: a minority, immigrant woman who supports Republicans,” the former attorney and stay-at-home mother said.

Mincing no words, Scalia declared that what she saw happen over the last few weeks “convinced me that Democrats are not who they claim to be.”

“The party that established itself as a champion for the voiceless, powerless, and wrongfully accused, betrayed its values and launched a vicious attack on Kavanaugh that left him voiceless, powerless, and completely incapable of defending himself,” she wrote.

Scalia pointed out something that a few others have also noticed: Despite constantly pretending to stand for the rights of the accused when it comes to urban minorities, the left betrayed those principles when it came to a conservative white male.

“Against all logic and good faith, they released uncorroborated allegations of sexual misconduct to the public, counting on the backdrop of the ‘Me Too’ movement to make them that much harder to criticize or ignore. I still cannot reconcile these actions with the social and criminal justice reform platforms that Democrats campaign on,” she wrote.

RELATED: Watchdog Group Obtains Shock Docs on What Happened Day Scalia Died

Then she revealed something that should be a red alert to Democrats: For the first time since legally entering the country, Scalia feels compelled to officially become a full citizen so she can vote … for Republicans.

“These events opened my eyes to the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party,” Scalia declared, summarizing the problem.

The left just created a new minority, female immigrant conservative voter — and there could be many more previously undecided voters who have been motivated by the kangaroo court of last two weeks.

Well done, Democrats.

Donald Trump: Alaska ‘Will Never Forgive’ Lisa Murkowski for Opposing Brett Kavanaugh

President Donald Trump warned Sen. Lisa Murkowski that she might face political retribution for her decision to oppose his nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

“I think she will never recover from this,” Trump said. “I think the people from Alaska will never forgive her for what she did.”

The president commented about the process in an interview with the Washington Post that was published on Saturday.

Murkowski voted against cloture for Kavanaugh’s confirmation on Friday. (On Saturday, Murkowski voted “no” on confirmation and later withdrew her vote to be marked “present” so that her Republican colleague in the Senate could attend his daughter’s wedding.)

The Senate confirmed Kavanaugh on Saturday afternoon with a final vote of 50-48.

Trump noted that he won Alaska easily over his failed challenger, Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, which might make it hard for Murkowski to remain in the Senate. He also reminded readers that he helped Alaska immensely by opening up drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The president had nothing but praise for Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who faced heavy pressure to vote against Kavanaugh but delivered a widely-praised speech in the Senate to explain why she would vote to confirm Kavanaugh.

“I think what Susan Collins did for herself was incredibly positive,” Trump said in the interview. “It showed her to be an honorable, incredible woman. I think she’s got a level of respect that’s unbelievable. I really mean it.”

Hollywood Unhinged After Brett Kavanuagh Confirmation: ‘F*ck Kavanaugh F*ck Trump’ ‘Electoral Rampage Is Underway’

Hollywood A-listers and power players melted down on social media Saturday after Judge Brett Kavanaugh officially became the 114th justice to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court.

“Another gross day in the history of our country, but the midterms are coming. We are stronger than this bullshit. We can fight and fight and we may not see the results right away, but we will see them. Our daughters will see them. Don’t give up. Fight harder,” former Netflix host Chelsea Handler fumed on Twitter.

“The fury now commences. An electoral rampage is underway. November 6th is the day of reckoning. I’m in,” warned left-wing documentary filmmaker Michael Moore tweeted.

Kavanaugh was confirmed Saturday — by a simple majority vote of 50-48 — after a contentious confirmation process that saw the longtime judge accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct.

It was, however, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)’s emotional speech on the Senate floor Friday that experts say sealed the deal for Judge Kavanaugh.

“This tweet is for Dr. Ford. You put yourself through so much and I want you to know it wasn’t in vain. You started a movement and we’ll see it through. If they won’t listen to our voices, then they’ll listen to our vote,” talk show host Ellen DeGeneres tweeted of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford who lodged a still-unsubstantiated claim that Brett Kavanaugh attempted to rape her in the 1980s when they were both in high school.

“In conclusion: People should be fucking terrified and outraged. I sure as hell am,” Actress Alyssa Milano tweeted, echoing many Hollywood celebrities’ sentiment that they can get “revenge” for Kavanaugh’s confirmation in next month’s election. “We need to take back our power by taking back the Senate and the House in November. It is the only way out of this mess.”

Below is a roundup of the Hollywood meltdown in reaction to today’s confirmation vote.

Sarah Palin Fires Warning Shot: Strongly Hints at Senate Run Against Lisa Murkowski

Sarah Palin Fires Warning Shot: Strongly Hints at Senate Run Against Lisa Murkowski

by Kristinn Taylor
October 5, 2018

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin strongly hinted at a challenge to Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) when Murkowski is next up for reelection in 2022. Murkowski, a three term incumbent, is undecided on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, but gave several indications Friday that she will vote no.

Sarah Palin was the vice presidential running mate for Sen.John McCain’s presidential campaign in 2008.

Palin wrote on Twitter Friday afternoon,”Hey – I can see 2022 from my house…”

Palin and Murkowski are longtime political foes. Plain defeated her father Gov. Frank Murkowski in 2006 in the GOP primary, thwarting his reelection bid. Palin successfully endorsed GOP challenger Joe Miller who defeated incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the 2010 primary. Murkowski then controversially ran as a write-in candidate, winning reelection over Miller in the general election.

Wikipedia notes Murkowski, who initially was appointed to the Senate in 2002 by her father Frank Murkowski when he left the Senate after being elected Alaska governor, has never won a majority of the vote in the general election.

“Although Murkowski has won three full terms to the Senate, she has never won a majority of the vote; she won pluralities in each of her three races, with 48.6% of the vote in 2004, 39.5% in 2010, and 44.4% in 2016.”

Minutes before Palin tweeted to Murkowski about 2022, she retweeted former aide Rebecca Mansour speaking about Palin and Murkowski, “2/2 And I defended that fact that a brave woman whistleblower was the only person to ever defeat the crony corruption of the Murkowski family. That woman was , and I’m sure you have plenty of misogynist attacks to throw her way, just as you’ve thrown them at me.”

Moonbat Bette Midler Tweets ‘Women Are The N-Word Of The World’

Bette won’t work in Hollywood after this.

Via Daily Mail:

Bette Midler caused uproar on Thursday with a 49-year-old Yoko Ono quote.

The actress tweeted that ‘women are the n-word of the world’ — and the internet was not happy about it.

The 72-year-old was attempting to make a point about the oppression of women, just like the originator.

‘Raped, beaten, enslaved, married off, worked like dumb animals; denied education and inheritance; enduring the pain and danger of childbirth and life IN SILENCE for THOUSANDS of years,’ she wrote. ‘They are the most disrespected creatures on earth.’

The post was met with fury, with many attacking her use of the racist term, however censored or derived.

Many more slammed the Hocus Pocus star for comparing the plight of women to the mistreatment of black people.

‘It’s time to retire that quote. It minimizes racism and is counterproductive to intersectional feminism. The shock value is in NO WAY worth the harm to Black people,’ one Twitter user wrote.

There is no reason to use this quote,’ another added. ‘Among MANY problems with it, it erases black women and this is unacceptable at any time, but especially now when we as white women are in such debt to black women and should be using our privilege to elevate, not eliminate, their voices.’

MAGA: US Unemployment Hits 49-Year Low…

Via Daily Caller:

The U.S. economy added 134,000 jobs in September, falling under experts’ expectations by 46,000, according to Friday’s jobs numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The unemployment rate fell 0.2 points to 3.7 percent, matching the lowest rate since 1969. Economists expected the rate to drop slightly to 3.8 percent, according to The Wall Street Journal. August’s jobs numbers were revised upward from 201,000 to 270,000.

The September jobs report was released the day after new jobless claims fell back near a five-decade low despite destruction from Hurricane Florence putting many people out of work in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Watch: Normally Mild-Mannered Orrin Hatch Mocks, Enrages Anti-Kavanaugh Protesters

Over the past few weeks — and over the last week and a half in particular — we’ve seen a flowering of anti-Kavanaugh protesters in the Capitol Building using moral blackmail as a tool to bludgeon anyone who might dare support the Supreme Court nominee.

The most infamous case, of course, involved Sen. Jeff Flake being harangued by liberal protesters in an elevator, but we’ve seen plenty of other instances. What always amazes me (and what never seems to be of interest to the media) is the fact that these protesters seem to be omnipresent in the Capitol — regardless of security issues — and that there are always cameras present wherever they are.

But I digress. The point is that the media expects these Republican senators to stand there and take it. If they don’t, stop the presses — it’s time for a meltdown.

Most of the media meltdowns thus far have involved Lindsey Graham, who’s suddenly transformed from a professional milquetoast into a paladin of full-contact conservatism.

However, Utah’s Orrin Hatch also managed to get some attention for his response, with the normally mild-mannered Republican telling protesters to “grow up.”

TRENDING: Anti-Kavanaugh Protester Makes Mistake of Following GOP Sen., Gets Taken Apart

Check it out:

The protest was the usual affair: Sound and fury, along with the usual stridency we’ve become accustomed to.

“Why aren’t you brave enough to talk to us and exchange with us?” one protester screamed, apparently under the impression that bravery is talking with an activist who’s screaming “Why aren’t you brave enough to talk to us and exchange with us?” at you.

Do you think Brett Kavanaugh should be confirmed to the Supreme Court?

When Hatch waves his hand at the demonstrator, she shouts back, “Don’t you wave your hand at me!” Yes, because that’s clearly the kind of person you want to “exchange with.”

As for that prospect, Hatch pretty much told them that the answer was never.

“When you grow up I’ll be glad to,” Hatch said.

“How dare you talk to women that way?” one of the protesters said.

Yes, because women are every bit the equal of men. Unless, of course, the chivalric code works out to their favor, then how dare you talk to women that way?

RELATED: Orrin Hatch and Lindsey Graham Deliver Proof That Dems Orchestrated Kavanaugh Hit Job

According to The Hill, the protest came right after Hatch said there was no corroboration of any of the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh contained in the new FBI report and that the Senate should vote to confirm him.

“After investigations from both the committee and FBI, we have found nothing to corroborate accusations against him and we need to confirm him right away,” Hatch said.

“His confirmation will be a victory for the Senate as an institution.”

Not only that, but it will be a victory for reason over the cacophony of media-approved dissidence. Thank God for that.

Watch: CNN Hack Implies Kanye May Be Mentally Unstable After He Publicly Supported Trump

The season opener of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” was politically balanced, and by that I mean the cast engaged in a series of groan-worthy sketches about how evil President Donald Trump and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh are and Kanye West wore a “Make America Great Again” cap while performing onstage. In other words, it…

Punk Who Kicked Pro-Life Woman Pays the Price After Cops, Employer, and Victim Learn His ID

A pro-life woman was roundhouse kicked in the shoulder on Sunday while at an annual peaceful protest against abortion, Life Chain, in Toronto.

Marie-Claire Bissonnette, 27, the youth coordinator with Campaign Life Coalition, says she was leading a group of 76 pro-life activists in silent protest when around 2:30 p.m a man approached the group and started harassing them, according to the Toronto Sun.

“This guy comes and I guess he saw what was happening — he was really angry about it, and so he takes out permanent markers and he starts scribbling on two of the signs,” she said in an interview with the online news talk show Two Way Radio.

“And so I warned people to shield their signs, and then he got the brilliant idea of scribbling on people’s backs. So he started vandalizing the jackets of people, five people, including a ten-year old girl,” she added.

It was after this that Bissonnette took out her phone to record him should he continue to vandalize. But what she captured was even more appalling.

TRENDING: Huge Development: Feinstein Moves To Seal FBI Investigation as Case Collapses

Her video shows the man, who wore a pentagram necklace, briefly arguing with her about abortion before he roundhouse kicks her, knocking the phone to the ground.

“He kicked me in the shoulder, my phone went flying,” Bissonnette told the Sun on Thursday.

“I start shouting for someone to call police and before he runs away, he goes up to me and I had a ribbon on my jacket indicating the leader, he tore it off my chest.”

Do you think the left stokes violence?

Bissonnette, said that she was shaken up but lucky to experience only minor pain.  She added that she doesn’t think most of her group saw what occurred but that those who did witness it “were in shock.”

“When he began to pose, and you can see in the video that he positions himself for this, I guess it didn’t register because it was very sudden,” she told the Sun.

“You would expect someone to start yelling in a loud voice or be very aggressive before they would go and physically assault someone.”

The shocking video circulated quickly the internet, allowing the man to be identified as Jordan Hunt, a Toronto hairstylist who has since been fired from his job.

His previous employers put out this statement: “It has been brought to our attention that Jordan has been caught on camera assaulting an innocent bystander at a pro life rally. We don’t condone his actions and he has been let go. We believe that everyone has a right to an opinion and the right to voice their opinion without fear of physical violence.”

RELATED: ‘Man’ Who Got PTSD by Firing AR-15 Says Kavanaugh Daughter ‘Fair Game’

Hunt has since deleted all his social media profiles. In a now-deleted post, he stated that he was “working on my book The Hippy Swamp Witch, a guide to natural living.”

Possibly he’s drafting a chapter on how to physically assault women who have different beliefs from you.

So far Toronto police are investigating but no arrest has been made since the lionhearted man fled from the scene of the crime, according to the Sun.

Bissonnette will press charges if an arrest is made, saying, “I don’t think it’s acceptable to show any physical violence to anyone who disagrees with you. The perpetrator should know that.”

She wrote in an article for LifeSiteNews that this was hardly the first time she’s experienced violence from pro-abortion activists.

“This sort of assault is neither a single nor a rare occurrence,” she wrote.

“I’ve participated in many public pro-life activities throughout my life. This isn’t the first time I’ve been attacked. Rocks have been thrown at me. I’ve been spat upon multiple times and pushed. Men have aggressively asked how I would like it if they raped me and forced me to have an abortion.”

“There is a media-driven narrative that pro-life activists are violent and a danger to women,” she continued. “This is a bald-faced lie. The only violence or aggression I’ve witnessed in my many years in the pro-life movement comes entirely from pro-abortion activists, and yet it’s rarely, if ever, reported.”

She mentioned other assaults, like one that she claimed also happened on Sunday when a woman poured paint all over an pro-life activist’s jacket and pants.

Then she brought up another instance of violence enacted by the same people who proclaim that they advocate for women.

“In 2014 Michael Panagapko of Toronto was convicted of assaulting a woman during the 2013 Life Chain with a knife,” she recounted. “He poured water on her, threw the bottle in her face, pulled her to the ground by her hair and beat her by punching and kicking her, before pulling out his knife.”

So the same tolerant, accepting people who advocate killing babies are also the ones committing violence against women? Color me surprised.

But the media and leftist leaders still get away with painting the ludicrous portrait that somehow they are on the side of peaceful — or “hippy” to use Hunt’s term — acceptance of everyone’s diverse beliefs. In reality, they stoke violence and glorify celebrities who encourage it. How can they claim to support women while attacking pro-life women?

Unfortunately, many in the liberal media are too far removed from reality to see their own dangerous hypocrisy.  Hopefully, however, some will learn from this incident and take a good look at what they are actually defending.

Until then, let’s follow Bissonnette’s brave example and try to encourage a truly liberal society where people can disagree with each peacefully.
