Dem Candidates Embrace Gun Control In Campaign For House Takeover

For the people.

As the Democrats shift to the left on a number of issues from health care to immigration, they’ve already gone all in on one of the most contentious issues around — gun control

A study by The Wall Street Journal found that of the 63 candidates on the House Democrats’ campaign arm’s list of seats to flip in November, 62 support expanded background checks for gun purchases.

While Dems have long pushed for gun control, there was a time when some candidates ignored the issue, included gun rights as part of their platform or even allied with the National Rifle Association. But support for gun control among candidates has hardened in recent years after a rash of high-profile mass shootings including at schools — most recently the February shooting in Parkland, Florida.

That shift is being reflected in activity on the campaign trail, with more Democrats being more vocal on gun control and their advocacy of proposals such as background checks.

There has been a spike in spending on ads by Democrats that focus on gun control across gubernatorial, Senate and House races, according to USA Today. In 2014, there were 558 pro-gun control spots, mostly from Democrats. In 2018, that number had rocketed to 18,416, in comparison to 8,897 anti-gun control spots by mostly Republicans.

In the House races, pro-gun control ads represented about 67 percent of those with explicit messages on guns, compared to just six percent in 2014.

That has in turn led to some significant about-faces on the issue from long-time lawmakers. The Journal points to Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz. In a 2010 ad, she bragged about her “A” rating from the NRA, but last month she said she would ban “assault weapons” and was given an “F’ by the pro-gun rights group. She said her position changed after the shooting of former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in 2011.

But while the move may rally the Democratic Party base, it may also give the Republican base a boost — which has repeatedly shown itself more motivated on Second Amendment issues.

The National Republican Congressional Committee suggested that the move was the latest example of the Democratic Party catering to its left-wing base rather than everyday Americans.

Judge Says Government Doesn’t Have To Accept New DACA Applications

But he’s still considering the ‘temporary’ illegal program a ‘right’ for illegal aliens.

Via Daily Caller:

U.S. District Judge John Bates said the government does not have to accept new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) requests, on Friday, going back on his initial order from Aug. 3.

Illegal immigrants who were brought over as children, known as “Dreamers,” can renew their DACA applications, but no new requests will be processed, The Associated Press reported.

Bates initially ordered U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to restart DACA by Aug. 23. USCIS warned restarting the program would force the agency to look at the uptick of roughly 50,000 new DACA applications instead of focusing on legal immigrant and guest worker applications, The Washington Times reported on Aug. 15.

On Sunday, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said John Brennan’s rhetoric is becoming an issue.

“John and his rhetoric have become an issue in and of itself,” Clapper said in an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

James Clapper was responding to a NYT op-ed former CIA Director John Brennan penned a few days ago wherein he claimed Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia.

Brennan isn’t handling his security clearance being revoked by President Trump too well–he’s fuming!

Brennan’s op-ed drew a huge backlash even from people who aren’t supporters of President Trump.

Surprisingly, Senate Intel Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) released a statement slamming John Brennan’s claims in his NYT op-ed that President Trump’s campaign colluded with a foreign power.

“Director Brennan’s recent statements purport to know as fact that the Trump campaign colluded with a foreign power. If Director Brennan’s statement is based on intelligence he received while still leading the CIA, why didn’t he include it in the Intelligence Community Assessment released in 2017?” Senator Burr said in a statement.

Senator Burr continued, “If his statement is based on intelligence he has seen since leaving office, it constitutes an intelligence breach. If he has some other personal knowledge of or evidence of collusion, it should be disclosed to the Special Counsel, not The New York Times.”

“If, however, Director Brennan’s statement is purely political and based on conjecture, the president has full authority to revoke his security clearance as head of the Executive Branch,” Mr. Burr concluded.

Brennan also routinely attacks President Trump from his Twitter account, at one point claiming President Trump’s Helsinki Summit with Putin was “treasonous.”

Brennan is completely unhinged and his nonstop attacks and anti-Trump bias further prove he weaponized the intel agencies to target Donald Trump.

Both Clapper and Brennan have perjured themselves; they both promoted Hillary’s phony dossier and are panicking as the truth slowly comes out.

Twitter is targeting pro-Trump Republican lawmakers Matt Gaetz, Devin Nunes, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan and John Ratcliffe with the same shadowbanning technique.

Twitter is also censoring prominent pro-Trump accounts including: Mike Cernovich, Jack Posobiec, Paul Joseph Watson, TGP’s Jim Hoft, TGP’s Cassandra Fairbanks, TGP’s Lucian Wintrich, TGP’s Cristina Laila and Laura Loomer among others.

In July Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-CA) announced he was filing a FEC complaint against Twitter after he discovered his account was being throttled by the social media company.

And now this…
Twitter is also censoring the accounts for Republican candidates.

President Trump endorsed “star” Republican John James in the Republican primary for US Senator from Michigan.

But you may not find John James on Twitter because he is being shadow-banned because he is the Republican candidate.

But Ron’s Twitter page is also being censored.

These are just the Republican candidates we know about.
There are likely dozens if not hundreds more being censored by Twitter.

Radical Leftists Cause Trouble At Gun Rights Rally, Attack Trump Supporter

Free speech and the Second Amendment not allowed by leftists.

A demonstration in support of Second Amendment gun rights drew left-wing counter-protesters Saturday in Seattle, forcing dozens of police to keep the two sides separated.

Conservative groups Washington 3 Percenters and Patriot Prayer held their “Liberty or Death” rally outside Seattle City Hall, to oppose a city gun-control initiative, while a group of left-wing organizations rallied nearby.

The left-wingers — including members of Organized Workers for Labor Solidarity, Radical Women and the Freedom Socialist Party — yelled and used cow bells and sirens in an attempt to drown out speeches from the other side.

One person on the gun-rights side, sporting a Donald Trump hat, was treated for an injury at the scene. A police spokesman told the Seattle Times that a total of three men were arrested for misdemeanor assault.

Study: Demand for concealed carry weapons permits skyrocketing despite anti-gun campaigning

The number of concealed carry weapons permits is skyrocketing, despite aggressive anti-gun campaigns, a new study shows.

How much is it growing?

Issued CCW permits have increased about 275 percent over a 10-year period, from 4.6 million permits in 2007 to more than 17.25 million permits in 2018, according to a study released Friday by Crime Prevention Research Center.

The figure has increased every year and is expected to continue increasing.

From 2007 through 2018, women and minorities represent the largest demographic increase. When compared to white individuals, permits for Asian and black individuals spiked 29 percent and 20 percent faster, respectively.

“That increase in women and minorities mirrors their changing views on guns,” John Lott, the founder of the CPRC, told Fox News.

“A poll by [the] Pew [Research Center] helps to explain why there has been such a large increase in concealed handgun permits among blacks and women,” he said. “The poll shows a 25 percentage point increase in the proportion of blacks with a favorable view of gun ownership. This is the largest increase of any group.”

Among all women the increase was 11 percent, and the increase among men was 8 percent.

The study also showed that CCW permit holders are “extremely” law-abiding citizens.

Which states have the most?

In Florida and Texas, states with the largest number of permit issued, permit holders are convicted of misdemeanor and felony crimes at about one-sixth of the rate that law enforcement officers are convicted, according to reports.

“The states that we have seen a slowing of permits have primarily been these ‘constitutional carry’ states where a permit is no longer required,” Lott told the Fox News.

“Indeed, some of those states have even seen a drop in the number of permits even though the number of people carrying in those places has undoubtedly gone up,” he added.

Al Sharpton Tries Spelling ‘Respect’ to Honor Aretha, Just Can’t Get It Right

Shortly after it was announced that the “Queen of Soul,” singer Aretha Franklin, had entered hospice, word followed that the powerhouse performer had passed away. Many public figures paid tribute, but the Rev. Al Sharpton just ended up embarrassing himself with one of his.

Franklin’s official website noted that not only was she often known just by her first name, but that she was “both a 20th and 21st century musical and cultural icon.” For at least six decades she entertained the world with such iconic songs as “Think” and “Natural Woman.”

Her astonishing career earned her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005 from then-President George W. Bush, and  a whopping 18 Grammy awards. She is also credited with “saving” the 1998 Grammy Awards, as the New York Post recounted.

One of her most famous tunes is “Respect,” in which she spells out the word, “R-E-S-P-E-C-T,” twice. That particular part of the song has been widely used across pop culture, including in movies and television commercials.

The star-studded deluge of tributes to her often referenced her amazing career and many famous songs. A few, shared here, illustrate the deep respect so many had for Franklin and her contributions to the music world.

Singer Janet Jackson sent out a tweet with a video clip talking about how she grew up with Franklin as a neighbor, playing with her kids. She honored the legacy Franklin created:

Actress and businesswoman Priscilla Presley paid tribute with a simple RIP message. She made no mention of whether she’d ever met the singer, via her late ex-husband, Elvis.

TMZ and others reported that both Elvis and Franklin died on the same day, Aug. 16. Elvis passed away 41 years before Franklin.

Freelance journalist Yashar Ali shared a star-studded story about Franklin. Apparently, legendary singers Etta James and Sarah Vaughn discussed the rising star’s vocal talent.

According to the story, reportedly told by James, both were impressed, and at least one, perhaps a little intimidated. The charming story added to the lovely way in which so many opted to honor Franklin.

Then we come to Sharpton, who interviewed Franklin in 2014, and featured at least part of that during a tribute segment in his “PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton” show on MSNBC. However, in relation to a segment with fired White House staffer Omarosa Maniqault Newman, he attempted to reference his “late friend Aretha Franklin” and honor her while also slapping down President Trump.

It didn’t go well, at all:

Twitter user “Matt’s Idea Shop” created a tweet featuring the train wreck.

Does this kind of incompetence from Shaprton surprise you?

Some might say that a number of the comments attached to his tweet were just as entertaining.

Many were dumbfounded that such an iconic part of the song, in which the word is clearly spelled out, somehow eluded the show host. He misspelled “respect” as “R-E-S-P-I-C-T.” And didn’t catch his error.

Later, in celebrating Harlem Week’s Harlem Day, Sharpton tried to get the rain-soaked crowd to chant Franklin’s name. Fortunately, he didn’t try to spell it:

Since Sharpton is so often, correctly, “race-baiter” or a political con man, it may be difficult to say which was more disappointing. Was it that he misspelled a word that is so clearly spelled out in Franklin’s song, or that he seemingly kept trying to use tributes to her in order to gain political points for himself and his own agenda?

MSM Flips Out Over ICE Arresting Father-to-Be, Conveniently Forget He’s Wanted For Murder

There’s a reason people swear to tell “the whole truth” when they take the witness stand: Leaving important pieces out of a story may not exactly be lying, but it is a blatant form of dishonesty.

It seems much of the mainstream media still hasn’t accepted that elementary lesson.

A recent story about a man who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement quickly went viral online … but the way the story was presented demonstrates exactly why fewer people trust the news these days.

As a story by The Daily Caller News Foundation reported on Saturday, Joel Arrona Lara — an illegal immigrant — was stopped by federal officers while he was taking his pregnant wife to the hospital for a Cesarean section.

“(Lara’s wife) told CBS 2 in Spanish that Arrona Lara had never been stopped by police and didn’t have a criminal record of any kind, including traffic violations,” Western Journal reported.

What an outrage! How inhumane and unhinged do the Trump administration’s goons need to be to harass an innocent man and his expectant wife like that?

That, at least, was the general response from most of the left-leaning media. A quick glance at the tear-jerking headlines shared by outlets like The Hill, CBS News, and The Washington Post confirm that they pushed the emotional angle hard.

There’s just one pesky problem: Those outlets all neglected to include the fact that the illegal immigrant was wanted for murder at the time.

“This is a great example of why the media has lost credibility,” pointed out the Twitter account AG Conservative, which also provided several screenshots to back up the point.

“What possible justification can there be for multiple news organization omitting that the person ICE arrested was wanted for murder?” that user asked.

Good question. As The Los Angeles Times and other outlets finally reported, there was much more to the story than the “innocent man harassed by ICE” angle.

Do you think the mainstream media purposely covered up the facts in this case?

“Mr. Arrona-Lara was brought to ICE’s attention due to an outstanding warrant issued for his arrest in Mexico on homicide charges,” ICE said in a statement obtained by The Times.

Apparently “Illegal Alien Wanted For Murder Arrested” just doesn’t have the same ring to it as “Innocent Man Pulled From Pregnant Wife’s Side.”

The fact that law enforcement officers were doing their jobs and detaining a likely violent criminal who is accused of murder — and may even have fled his country to escape the charges — seems like a pretty big part of the story. Yet headlines from the mainstream media appeared to purposely cover this up.

“(R)ead this thread and tell me there’s not a concentrated effort by the media to spread misinformation on behalf of the Leftists,” challenged Twitter user Jesse Kelly.

“Is it a massive conspiracy? Almost certainly not,” he acknowledged. “Does the 90% Democrat media who constantly lectures about public about ‘diversity’ suffer from a serious echo chamber issue? Absolutely.”

That is perhaps the most important point. There comes a time when widespread rejection of reality becomes indistinguishable from purposeful deception.

The media’s blatant biases may not be a back-room conspiracy, but the effect is the same. They are no longer telling the whole truth, but instead push everything through a skewed filter so that headlines match a one-sided world view.

No wonder so many people just don’t trust establishment news sources any more.
