It used to be difficult to defend Hollywood. Now it may be next to impossible.

Excusing disturbing behavior is what many stars tried to do in recent weeks, after “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn was fired by Disney.

The supposedly family-friendly brand, which owns the Marvel cinematic universe, was forced to disown the star director after tweets joking about child rape and other off-color topics came to light.

While most of Tinseltown and countless liberals jumped to Gunn’s defense, claiming that the posts were over five years old and just poor attempts at humor, it now looks like there may be a shocking trend of excusing pedophilia in the director’s life.

Photos discovered on Gunn’s own website reveal that he attended a twisted pedophilia-themed party.

“One of the photos shows Gunn dressed as a Catholic priest posing with two young women dressed to look like children,” Breitbart News reported.

“One is in pigtails and pouting, another looks like she is about to cry as she holds a juice box and a doll. Father Gunn, who appears to be wearing eye makeup, looms over them,” the outlet continued.

Even the caption accompanying the photos admit that the sexualization of minors was the intended theme of the “party.”

“To Catch a Predator,” Gunn apparently wrote about the party’s images.

That’s the name of a fairly well-known investigative show that ran on NBC a decade ago. “Using hidden cameras, the show would catch alleged sexual predators who had arranged to have sex with children as young as 12,” explained Breitbart.

“The second photo features Gunn, again dressed as a priest, next to a pigtailed young women sucking her thumb. Kneeling on the floor in front of Gunn is a man made up to look like a clown. He has his hands around the throat of the second young woman,” continued that outlet’s report.

Here’s a simple question: Who wakes up in the morning and says, “today I’m going to go to a pedophilia-themed party where adults pretend to be sexually abused girls, and then proudly post photos of it on my public website?”

It’s hard to imagine these photos, clearly making light of the sexual abuse of young girls, coming across as funny to any sane person.

They are absolutely indefensible when added to the other disturbing comments Gunn has made about child sexuality.

The ex-Disney director previously claimed to be sexually aroused by a video of underage girls, then made obscene jokes about minors touching themselves and fantasy trees that sexually assault children.

“Pedo themed costume party. Pedo jokes. Pedo themed humor. Maybe I’m just f—ing paranoid but that looks like a pattern of behavior,” posted The Daily Caller reporter Ian Miles Cheong after the most recent photos were uncovered.

He’s right. It would be one thing if someone went too far during an attempt at humor and then apologized, but it appears very much like excusing pedophilia and joking about child sexuality was routine to Gunn.

Liberals and the media have blocked, banned and ended the careers of many other figures for posting arguably more tame material. The fact that they are instead rushing to defend one of their own reveals deep hypocrisy … and a dark problem in Hollywood that needs to be exposed.

Twenty people were shot in gun-controlled Chicago between Friday morning and Saturday morning. This string of shootings comes one week after 70-plus were shot in the city over a three-day time period.

The Chicago Tribune reports that there was one fatality among the 20 shooting victims. The deceased was 18-year-old male Dylan Zavala, who was shot shortly after 8:00 a.m. Friday morning, Zavala “was found in an alley with a gunshot wound to his head in the 2900 block of West Pershing Road in the Brighton Park neighborhood.”

Later in the day two cousins, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, were walking to a gas station to get something to eat when bullets started flying. A bullet grazed the 15-year-old’s head and the 17-year-old was shot in the abdomen. The teens transported themselves to the hospital and both are expected to survive.

Genice Hines, the mother of the 15-year-old, said, “Chicago is a scary place to be. Even I’m scared to walk to the corner store.”

On August 6, 2018, Breitbart News reported were 70-plus shootings in Chicago over a non-holiday summer weekend. Eleven of the shooting victims died.

On August 8, 2018, Breitbart News reported that Chicago Police had made no arrests regarding the shootings that left behind 70-plus victims. Chicago Police indicate that witnesses have grown increasingly quiet in the wake of such shootings, leaving police with few leads and/or details related to the incidents.

There were nearly 800 murders in Chicago in 2016.

The Boston Globe is organizing a “war of words” against President Donald Trump with “about 70” publications to combat what it describes as the president’s “dirty war against the free press.”

We are not the enemy of the people,’’ said Marjorie Pritchard, deputy managing editor of the Boston Globe editorial page.

Trump previously derided news media outlets such as the New York Times, NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN — all of which present themselves as politically objective and non-partisan — as “fake news media” and “the enemy of the American people”:

The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!

The Boston Globe‘s effort calls on participating editorial boards to coordinate criticisms of Trump’s critiques of news media outlets. Approximately 70 publications have committed to the effort so far.

Pritchard described the president’s criticisms of various news media outlets and figures as an undermining of the First Amendment.

“I hope it would educate readers to realize that an attack on the First Amendment is unacceptable,’’ said Pritchard. “We are a free and independent press, it is one of the most sacred principles enshrined in the Constitution.’’

In April 2017, CNN’s Jim Acosta similarly framed Trump’s criticisms of his employer as a subversion of the First Amendment:

As much as people wanna beat up on CNN and go after CNN and “CNN sucks” and that sort of thing, what [Breitbart News] does, I was with Steve Bannon the other day where he referred to us as the opposition party, once again. We’re not the opposition party. We are just trying to get at the truth.

He went on to say that “the president has to understand that he is doing real damage to what we do. He is doing real damage to the First Amendment in this country when he refers to the news media as the enemies of the people,” Acosta said, adding, “We need people to trust us. And I believe that [CNN and the broader news media have] been acting in a way that garners that trust.”

Rapper-producer Ice Cube did not join the chorus of black celebrities critical of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott for his patriotic stance in favor of the national anthem, instead urging the third year NFL veteran to stand firm on his position.

Coming to Prescott’s defense, the rapper and actor refused to criticize Prescott for turning his back on black victimology and group-think.

“You should do what you feel. That’s whats supposed to be great about being in America, you do what you feel,” Cube said according to Deadline Hollywood. “You don’t have to be in lockstep with anybody. Not the community, not with the coach, not the owner. You do what you feel. And when you do that, sometimes you gotta let the chips fall where they may and live with your decision.”

“What I think he’s doing is what everybody should probably do, is make a decision and live with that and roll with that,” the rapper added. “At a certain point, it becomes everybody else’s problem. Not his. It’s only his problem if he allows it to be; if he allows somebody to change his position. You gotta live with the decision.”

It appears that the NFL player is following that logic whether Ice Cube supports him or not.

In multiple interviews over the last year or so Prescott has repeatedly said that he is “not at all tempted” to protest against the country during the playing of the national anthem. In no uncertain terms, Prescott has said that protesting during the song is “not the right time” for such actions.

“[I]t’s bigger than I think some of us think,” Prescott recently explained. “It’s just important for me to go out there, hand over my heart, represent our country and just be thankful and not take anything I’ve been given and my freedom for granted.”

But Prescott’s patriotic feelings about the anthem have made him a target from many black celebrities. Actor D.L. Hughley, for one, used the racial epithet of “boy” to attack Prescott for refusing to kneel against the country during the anthem. And in another case, B-list rapper The Game called Prescott a “coon” and said he should put on a MAGA hat for his position against protesting.

The indictment of Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY-27) on insider trading charges by the Department of Justice on Wednesday put a “Safe Republican” seat into play and increased the number of GOP-held seats Republicans must win in November to maintain a majority in the House of Representatives to 62.

Collins’ announcement on Saturday that he will suspend his campaign and fill out the remaining few months of his term in Congress suggests that he will shortly withdraw from the race and a new GOP candidate will be named to run in November for the seat he currently holds.

The Cook Political Report downgraded the race in New York’s 27th Congressional District to “Likely Republican,” and Collins’ initial refusal to withdraw from the race gave Democrats an opportunity for several days to nationalize attacks against all Republicans in competitive House races as a simple choice of “right vs. wrong.”

The potential withdrawal of Collins from the race, however, removes that line of attack by Democrats.

The fact that Collins has been indicted, however, increases the number of competitive House races by one, and also increases the number of currently GOP-held seats Republicans must win to maintain a majority in the House from 61, as Breitbart News identified last month, to 62, with less than 90 days to go until the election.

Given the uncertainty as to the mechanics by which Collins withdraws and is replaced by another GOP candidate, and the uncertainty over the strength of that candidate, New York’s 27th Congressional District will may well remain a “competitive” race up until election day in November, even though President Trump won the district by 24 points in 2016 and Collins easily won re-election by a two to one margin.

If Republicans hold those 62 seats and flip three Democrat held seats, they will retain the majority in the House of Representatives when the 116th Congress convenes in Washington, D.C. in January 2019 with a narrow one vote margin over the Democrats, 218 to 217.

Currently, Republicans hold a 240 to 195 advantage in the House (Republicans currently hold 236 seats, with four previously GOP-held seats up in special elections on election day in November, and Democrats currently hold 193 seats, with two previously Democrat-held seats up in special elections on election day in November). With a net gain of 23 seats in November, Democrats would take a slim one vote margin majority, 218 to 217.

Of these 65 races, 27 are “looking good” for Republicans, while 38 are “hanging in the balance,” according to the latest Breitbart News rating of competitive House races.

In addition, Breitbart News has identified 24 competitive House races for seats currently held by Republicans that the GOP could win and four competitive House races in seats currently held by Democrats that the GOP could win in November to increase their potential majority in the 116th Congress beyond the slim one vote margin victories in the 65 Must Win races would give them.

The bottom line is this: Republicans need to run the table in all 65 MUST WIN seats to maintain a slim one vote majority in the House of Representatives.

And, if Republicans also run the table in the 28 COULD WIN seats, they will also increase their majority in the House by five seats, ending up with a 245 to 190 advantage over the Democrats.

The current Real Clear Politics Average of Polls gives Democrats just a 3.9 point advantage over Republicans in the generic Congressional ballot.

A Florida Democratic state senator called in the police to handle a reporter who made “threats” against her at a debate.

Miami Herald reporter Sarah Blaskey declared that the only thing she was guilty of committing was “an act of journalism” after she questioned Florida state Sen. Daphne Campbell following a public candidates forum at a Duffy’s in North Miami Beach.

According to the Miami Herald:

Campbell, a Democrat who is running for reelection this month in Senate District 38, called police at 1:24 p.m. after participating in a debate with her Democratic opponent, Jason Pizzo. A responding North Miami Beach officer who declined to give his name explained that police had been called by Campbell about threats made by a woman in a floral dress — a clear reference to the attire of Herald reporter Sarah Blaskey.

Police left without arresting anyone. But their appearance flustered attendees and the Social Citizens of Southeast Florida, which hosted the event in order to allow members to query the candidates on the issues.

Revolving door without the wall.

A 37-year-old Mexican man convicted of indecency with a child in Dallas was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents after he tried to illegally enter the U.S. this week, the agency said.

Juan Murillo-Gomez was detained Wednesday by Eagle Pass Border Patrol agents near downtown Eagle Pass, the agency said in a news release.

“The security of our border is our primary mission, and apprehensions like this help to keep our communities safe,” Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Felix Chavez said. “Our agents will remain vigilant and alert to protect the American society against dangerous criminals.”

Dallas County court records show Murillo-Gomez was convicted of indecency with a child by contact under the name Juan Gomez Aquirre.

He was initially given probation but was sentenced to two years in prison in 2010 after he didn’t pay fines and fees, didn’t perform community service and failed to be evaluated for alcohol and drug addiction, as well as take English as a second language classes.

He was deported in 2013 after finishing his prison sentence.

The victim was 13 years old.

Murillo-Gomez was previously detained in Houston in 2009 and charged with re-entering the country illegally, the news release said.

This time, Murillo-Gomez faces a charge of re-entering the country illegally after being deported. If convicted, he could spend up to 10 years in prison.

Stop giving police escorts to the stadiums.

A Florida labor union representing police officers in Broward County is calling on its members to send the Miami Dolphins a powerful message.

The Broward County Police Benevolent Association cancelled participation in a discount ticket program with the NFL franchise after some players refused to stand for the national anthem at a preseason game.

The Broward County PBA recently offered our members discounts to a Miami Dolphins game because that franchise said they were going to honor all First Responders,” a statement posted on Facebook read.

We entered into this partnership with the understanding that the Dolphins organization would require their players to stand for the National Anthem. This did not happen at last night’s preseason game against Tampa Bay,” it continued.

The Broward County PBA announced it would no longer take part in the program and asked its members to follow suit.

“We are asking all of our members, as well as members of the Dade County PBA and Palm Beach County PBA, not to participate either,” the statement read.
