NY Democrat Escalates ‘Abolish ICE!’ Wants to ‘Prosecute ICE!’

The ICE immigration-enforcement agency must be abolished and prosecuted, says the far-left progressive running for Attorney General of New York state.

“ICE has to be abolished, and I say that as somebody who is running for one of the top law-enforcement jobs in the country,” said Zephyr Teachout, a law professor and an ally of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic candidate for a House seat in New York who jump-started the Abolish ICE! campaign.

Teachout is using the issue to win votes from progressive groups and from immigrant and migrant communities:

ICE was born in xenophobia, in a time after 9/11 and has grown up to become a tool of fear and illegality. And as Attorney General, I will continue to speak out against ICE, I will prosecute ICE for their criminal acts.

“In the race for the Democratic nomination for Attorney General, New York City Public Advocate Letitia James has the support of 25 percent of likely voters, compared to 16 percent for Representative Sean Patrick Maloney [and] 13 percent for Zephyr Teachout,” says a July 31 poll and statement from Siena College.

The poll shows she has 27 percent favorability among Democrats, while 61 percent say they are undecided about her.

Her call for the prosecution and abolishment of ICE comes just seventeen years after 3,000 Americans were murdered by terrorists who smashed the Twin Towers in Teachout’s home city of New York. The 19 terrorists included several who eluded deportation because of very weak immigration-law enforcement.

Teachout is a law lecturer at Fordham Law School in New York, where the huge population of illegal-immigrant service-workers has forced down wages for the ordinary Americans who make her takeout coffee and bus her restaurant tables.

White House officials are touting ICE’s accomplishments amid the “Abolish ICE” push by open-borders advocates.

Teachout echoes the open-borders claims, saying “the idea that we should see people as illegal, the idea that we should see immigrants as a national security threat … just does not make any sense.”

“Abolishing ICE Would Mean Abolishing America’s Borders— and Opening the Floodgates to Crime, Drugs, and Terrorism,” says a July 16 statement from the White House.

The campaign-style statement echoes the White House’s political push to persuade voters that Democrats are pro-migration extremists. That task is fairly straightforward because multiple polls show that a large slice of the party’s base strongly supports the exemption of most migrants from the nation’s popular immigration laws.

Democrats are using videos and sympathetic media coverage of migrant children to persuade suburban voters — especially among women — to cast voters against President Donald Trump in the November election. The strategy makes sense, partly because many well-off suburban voters are squeamish about the immigration policies which protect blue-collar neighborhoods from cheap-labor migration, MS-13 recruits, and a flood of children who require expensive specialized help in schools.

However, the White House has not championed immigration enforcement as an economic benefit to white-collar suburbanites, despite the widespread use of cheap-labor, white-collar foreign workers.

This isn’t culture war. It’s worse.

Progressives continue to astonish normal people with their complete incomprehension of normals as human beings.  Perhaps that’s because they don’t see us as human beings.  They call us unsavory names – deplorables, bitter clingers, toothless, plus every dirty word they can think of.  They throw nasty, biological things.  They spit on people.  They shove people, break windows, start fights, and go out of their way to ensure that everybody has a bad day.

Today’s normal was a fifties liberal and, in many cases, a sixties liberal.  In those days, you could be a conservative Democrat or a liberal Republican, and it raised no eyebrows.  Today’s prog, or extremist lefty, thinks all normals are extras from the movie Deliverance.  Yet most of the time we dress about as they do, take the same public transportation, shop in the same supermarkets, and live in the same neighborhoods.  If we really were toothless and illiterate, it would immediately stand out.  It doesn’t.

In the almost 70 years since 1950, normals haven’t changed much.  We still believe in God, pay taxes, get up and go to work, and keep to ourselves.  We’re raising families, after all, and that matters more than anything else.  Unlike the prog caricature of us, we’re responsible people.  When we gather in large numbers, you almost can’t tell we were ever there because we clean up behind ourselves.  We speak quietly and respectfully, treat our women like ladies, and control our kids.  Nobody fears normals because nobody has any reason to.

This contrasts starkly with progs, who gather in large numbers to riot, scream obscenities, carry signs, and trash the place.  They get up in others’ faces and scream and rage as if out of control, sometimes putting a normal person in fear for his life.  All this is intended to communicate public unhappiness over this issue or that, but all it really puts across is that a bunch of wilding lunatics are loose again.

Liberals, similar to but reputedly more reasonable than progs, always notice the single MAGA hat in a crowd but never the destructive prog behavior raging all around them.  And it’s liberals who write the columns and tweets next day, dripping venom about the hateful normals.  Yet any objective, disinterested observer would notice that it’s progressives who regularly run out of control in angry, violent spasms of incivility and ugliness.

This isn’t “culture war.”  Culture has nothing to do with it.  It’s war on normality by Brownshirts, paid for by the likes of George Soros and Tom Steyer.  It has now graduated from street-fighting to trying to take down the U.S. government.

I will never understand these people’s hatred of America.  They are unreachable by reason.  It seems clear that they are trying to provoke a heavy, violent reaction from us so they can then haul out the artillery.  They missed their big chance with Barama in the saddle but had been biding their time right along.  They’ll just continue that until their next big chance.  They need to be able to declare martial law.

Be ready.

Democratic New York Attorney General Candidate Vows to ‘Prosecute ICE’

A Democratic candidate for Attorney General of New York promised in a video message to prosecute U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if elected.

In an interview with NowThis, former Democratic congressional candidate and Fordham Law professor Zephyr Teachout outlined her support for the "Abolish ICE" movement, citing what she characterized as unconstitutional and cruel actions taken by the federal agency.

"ICE has to be abolished, " Teachout said. "And I say that as somebody who is running for one of the top law enforcement jobs in the country."

"There is so much wrong with ICE that goes to it’s very structure," she continued. "The idea that people are ‘illegal,’ the idea that we should see immigrants as a national security threat, and that ICE should be placed under the Department of Homeland Security – by the way, the area where the president has the greatest authority to do the most damage – just doesn’t make any sense."

Teachout promised that if elected, "I’ll continue to speak out against ICE, I will prosecute ICE for the criminal acts."

The constitutional law professor’s promise comes despite the fact that the U.S. Constitution makes federal law "the supreme Law of the Land" over state laws and judges. Supreme Court precedent dating back a century holds that federal law officers cannot be prosecuted by states for conduct carried out in the course of their official duties. That immunity was later codified by Congress.

In 2012 for example, California criminal charges against an ICE agent accused of running a stop sign and killing three people were dismissed in federal court. "U.S. District Judge Anthony Battaglia said long-standing federal law gives immunity from state prosecution to federal law enforcement officers accused of crimes committed in the course of their duties," noted The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Judge Napolitano Doubles Down: Says Paul Manafort was Exonerated 8 Years Ago — May Call Rosenstein as First Witness (VIDEO)

Judge Napolitano dropped a bomb Tuesday on FOX and Friends.

The FOX News legal analyst told the audience that Paul Manafort was already exonerated eight years ago on these same charges and… Rod Rosenstein was the lawyer who exonerated him!

Here’s the Transcript via Bizzy Blog:

ANDREW NAPOLITANO: Here’s Manafort’s defense: I was investigated for all this by the government eight years ago, and I was exonerated. And I’m going to put on the stand as my first witness the young lawyer who exonerated me.

You know who that young lawyer is? Rod Rosenstein.

STEVE DDOCY: What?

NAPOLITANO: Yes! So this is going to be quite a show if they succeed in getting Rosenstein, who now runs the Justice Department —

DOOCY: So why was I innocent then and guilty now?

NAPOLITANO: There you go.

That’s correct!
Manafort was “exonerated” by federal prosecutors led by Rod Rosenstein.

Judge Napolitano made the same points again on Tuesday afternoon.

And, once again, Judge Napolitano says that the Manafort team may call Rod Rosenstein in for their first witness.

Congressman and Gubernatorial Candidate Polis Doubled His Wealth While in Congress

Jared Polis, one of the 10 richest members of Congress and the Democratic nominee for governor of Colorado, saw his wealth double during his 10-year run in the House of Representatives according to one benchmark estimation, and the congressman had the ability to actively manage the vast majority of his wealth in that time despite boasting about creating a blind trust "to avoid even the appearance of impropriety."

The congressman’s net worth hovered around $140 to $170 million dollars between 2007 to 2010, according to an analysis of financial disclosures by the Center for Responsive Politics. By 2014, his wealth spiked to about $387 million.

Those figures are only an estimate, however, as congressional disclosure forms only require the elected official to list an asset within specified ranges of value. However, because the CRP is a clearinghouse for all kinds of public information on members of Congress, which includes parsing and estimating financial data from disclosures, and because their methodology is applied consistently, their estimates are often used as a baseline standard by politicians, candidates, and journalists.

Disclosures from the earliest years after Polis took office created controversy in 2012 when conservative political author Peter Schweizer published a book that included a section critical of some of Polis’s health care investments, given that the congressman ultimately voted "yes" for the Affordable Care Act despite initially casting a "no" vote in committee when the bill was in its earliest forms.

Polis co-founded the private company BridgeHealth Medical in Colorado, which in its early days was a pioneer in what’s known as "medical tourism," whereby patients—with the help of a company like BridgeHealth—could find lower surgery costs in places such as India or Costa Rica.

Because much of Polis’s activity with BridgeHealth came in the years leading up to the passage of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, Schweizer called it "[o]ne of the more creative and cynical plays on health care reform." He wrote:

In other words, Polis was betting that there would be more, not less, medical tourism after the passage of health care reform. Companies in the medical tourism industry generally agreed, and favored Obamacare. They did not believe the bill would actually contain costs, and if anything, they expected overseas medical procedures to become more attractive. Medical Tourism magazine featured an article after the passage of the bill entitled, "Medical Tourism Expands as Alternative to Obama- care." As the article put it, "Interest in medical tourism has expanded rapidly as Americans react to the new federal law."

As the controversy developed, two D.C.-based ethics watchdogs were also critical of the investments.

Polis has fired back after an excerpt of Schweizer’s book was published in the Denver Post.

"The fact is I have not purchased stock in any publicly traded company since entering Congress," he wrote in a rebuttal op-ed. "[Schweizer’s] assertions are blatantly and verifiably false. Additionally, when I was first elected in 2008, I decided to set up a blind trust to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, a step few members take and that is not required."

A summary of the 2015 disclosures shows Polis listing assets for a blind trust in the range of $25 to $50 million. However, based on estimates from the Center for Responsive Politics, Polis had at least four other assets listed in the same monetary range, making it a reasonable estimate that his blind trust only represented between 10 and 30 percent of his overall wealth. And his investments in BridgeHealth, which have continued well into 2015, have never been in the blind trust.

The Washington Free Beacon asked Polis and his campaign if restricting his investments to strictly private companies, which BridgeHealth is, presented a more ethical option than investing in public companies. No comment was provided to that question and several others.

The Boulder-based congressman emphasized in 2012 that his investments into BridgeHealth were loans.

"I have loaned this business money virtually every quarter since its founding in order to sustain its operations and to avoid layoffs," the congressman wrote. "I am not otherwise involved in this company as either an employee or board member."

Many of the BridgeHealth transactions documented by Polis in his disclosures list them as "Convertible Notes Receivable."

"A convertible note is an investment vehicle often used by seed investors investing in startups who wish to delay establishing a valuation for that startup until a later round of funding or milestone," according to FundersClub.com. "Convertible notes are structured as loans with the intention of converting to equity. The outstanding balance of the loan is automatically converted to equity at a specific milestone, often at the valuation of a later funding round. In order to compensate the angel investor for the additional risk of investing in the earlier round, convertible notes will sometimes have additional clauses, such as caps, and or discounts."

According to 2015 disclosures—the last year for which CRP aggregated, estimated, and sorted all of the financial information for the congressman—Polis had an equity position in BridgeHealth somewhere between $5 and $25 million, and he had "note/note receivable" positions in the company for the same asset range.

Polis built his wealth at an early age through entrepreneurial endeavors, most of them technology related, and has used his wealth to self-finance most of his political ambitions. He is currently sponsoring a bill that would reverse the tax cuts from the 2017 bill passed mainly by the GOP in party-line votes.

He’s also well known in Colorado as one of the so-called "Gang of Four"—four multi-millionaires who donated heavily to create a Democrat-based advocacy structure of non-profits and media organizations that remained outside of the reach of the party itself. It’s generally accepted that the results of the "blueprint" by the Gang of Four showed enormous success between the years 2004 and 2006, when Democrats began taking back majorities in the state general assembly and winning back the governor’s chair. After those successes, Democrats at both the national and state levels began duplicating many of the strategies Polis and the others had invented and deployed.
