Starbucks Trainers Sends Shock Message to Jewish Group — You’re Gone

Starbucks recently came under heavy fire from the left for its allegedly racist behavior after two black men in a Philadelphia store were arrested after they took up a table and refused to order any drinks while waiting on a friend, all of which was caught on a viral video.

That led Starbucks to announce it would close all of its stores for one day so every employee and manager could receive anti-bias and anti-discrimination “diversity” training. However, in the company’s zeal to prove how unbiased and non-discriminatory it is in its treatment of blacks, Starbucks managed to show bias and discrimination toward another minority group.

According to Politico, Starbucks appears to have caved to pressure from progressive black activists and removed the predominately Jewish Anti-Defamation League — which has long led the fight against anti-Semitic discrimination against Jews — from the top tier of the company’s lineup of anti-discrimination trainers for its upcoming “diversity” sessions.

Instead, the ADL has been demoted to a lower tier of advisers to the training and will be excluded from assisting in developing the curriculum that will be used to train Starbucks employees on how not to discriminate against members of the liberal base.

Initially, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt had been invited by the coffee chain to be one of four leaders of the diversity training sessions, but Greenblatt’s name was conspicuously absent in an April 24 press release about the training event, which only mentioned in passing that Starbucks would “consult with” the ADL on anti-discrimination training, among an array of other advisory groups.

“When Starbucks asked for assistance, we agreed to help,” said ADL spokesman Todd Gutnick. “As to whether Starbucks may or may not now want to utilize our expertise, you should ask them.”

For its part, Starbucks insisted it didn’t bow to any sort of political pressure campaign. It was merely constructing a “multi-phase approach” to combating bias and discrimination and that the ADL would be included in that effort, albeit in a reduced role.

However, that denial rings hollow when viewed against comments made against the ADL by other organizations that will play a role in the diversity training, particularly those groups focused on black Americans who happen to hold their own anti-Semitic biases.

Did Starbucks cave to anti-Semitic liberal black groups in its treatment of the ADL?

Tamika Mallory — an organizer of the Women’s March movement who has ties to the anti-Semitic Nation of Islam and its leader, Louis Farrakhan — posted to Twitter upon learning of the ADL’s participation in the training, “The ADL is CONSTANTLY attacking black and brown people. This is a sign that (Starbucks) are tone deaf and not committed to addressing the concerns of black folk.”

Her sentiment was echoed by Anti Police-Terror Project co-founder Cat Brooks, who told ABC News, “You can’t be a piece of an anti-bias training when you openly support a racist, oppressive and brutal colonization of Palestine.”

Then there were the complaints via a Twitter rant by the Washington D.C. chapter of the Black Lives Matter movement, which accused the ADL of being “ultra pro-cop” and covering for racist police behavior while also facilitating the training of D.C. officers by Israeli Defense Force trainers, as well as not sufficiently supporting the BLM movement to its liking.

While Starbucks may claim that those loud voices caustically criticizing the ADL played no role in the decision to demote the Jewish group from a lead role in their anti-discrimination training, Liel Leibovitz of Tablet Mag saw things quite differently.

He noted how beholden the Starbucks corporation — particularly CEO Howard Schultz — was to the Democrat Party and noted quite cynically that the Democratic Party seemed more interested in cozying up to the likes of Farrakhan and other Jew-haters more than the Jews who have long voted for liberals and filled the party coffers with donations.

“Under this new lunatic vision — expressed by Mallory and her fellow Women’s March leader Linda Sarsour and increasingly endorsed by the party’s mainstream — Jews, long the party’s staunch supporters, are rapidly becoming second-class citizens, the sort of folks who can still give money but not expect to have their voices heard,” wrote Liebovitz.

“Considering the fact that Jews are, by far, the most prominent targets of hate crimes in America these days, giving in to anti-Semites and removing the ADL from a diversity training initiative of a major American corporation is particularly heinous,” he added. “Shame on Starbucks for giving in to bigotry.”

We couldn’t agree more with that assessment, and can’t help but notice that racism and bigotry are only bad in the eyes of the left when non-leftists are accused of it.

So much for being the party of open-minded tolerance and love for all.

WaPo Website: Trump’s Defeated Left on Russia Collusion Allegations

For Democrats in the Trump years, desperation is getting to be part of daily life.

Since November 2016, they’ve believed rumors about Russian prostitutes, embellishments about the Constitution’s “emoluments clause” and, of course, that the mighty Robert Mueller would somehow bring about the end of an administration they despise.

But a Republican writer on The Washington Post’s website is making the case that the left should finally admit defeat on the “Russian collusion” story.

In a piece published Monday on the “PostPartisan” blog, a roundup of opinions from across the political spectrum, Republican political consultant Ed Rogers is calling out the national media’s latest attempt to damage President Donald Trump by reviving the collusion narrative.

Last week, The New York Times published the “news” that Natalia Veselnitskaya, one of the Russian who participated in a controversial meeting in June 2016 with the president’s son, Don Jr., was also associated with Russian government authorities.

The headline was ominous: “Lawyer Who Was Said to Have Dirt on Clinton Had Closer Ties to Kremlin Than She Let On.”

And the story’s nut graph sounded nefarious enough:

“But newly released emails show that in at least one instance two years earlier, the lawyer, Natalia V. Veselnitskaya, worked hand in glove with Russia’s chief legal office to thwart a Justice Department civil fraud case against a well-connected Russian firm.”

Do you think the Russia investigation will end soon?

But the reality was a lot more prosaic. As Rogers pointed out, The Wall Street Journal had reported the “news” about Veselnitskaya more than nine months ago — on July 14, 2017.

So, while The Times story did provide some new information about the details of Veselnitskaya’s work with Russian authorities — “informant” was a word she used herself — it didn’t really break any new ground, Rogers wrote. What it did do was give the media another reason to breathe life into a narrative that’s on life support.

And that, Roger said is the only point of media coverage anymore when it comes to matters affecting the “Russia collusion” investigation.

“Democrats and their media allies tried to seize on the word ‘informant’ to breathe some life into the fading collusion story,” Rogers wrote. “But the defibrillator paddles failed to resuscitate. Veselnitskaya had already admitted in a July 2017 Wall Street Journal interview to sharing information with the Russian prosecutor general while developing her client’s legal defense. It wasn’t an ‘aha’ moment after all.”

But hope springs eternal for the fevered #Resistance.

They have stalwarts like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi trying to advance the cause on Capitol Hill. They have the allied might of The New York Times and most of the American liberal media on their side.

And they have Mueller’s special investigation, which despite almost a year of work has produced not a shred of public evidence of any “collusion” the investigation was originally appointed to probe.

That probe isn’t finished (and might never be as long as Trump is president). However, according to Business Insider and other news outlets, Mueller is preparing an interim report on the question of whether Trump engaged in obstruction of justice regarding the “collusion” investigation.

No matter what that report says, Democrats are likely to claim it meets their standard for impeaching Trump.

If that’s the case, Rogers wrote, the midterm elections are likely to pivot on it.

“The result could be a nationalized election that largely comes down to impeachment vs. a good economy,” he wrote.

If the economy keeps going strong, and the “collusion” probe keeps coming up empty, that kind of matchup should suit Republicans just fine.

Trump has already defeated the left in every meaningful sense when it comes to the Russian “collusion” allegations.

If Republicans can hold the line on the November midterms too, this will be all over but the shouting.

And Democrats will really have to get used to desperation.

Vote Wars: Facebook to Add ‘Upvote’ and ‘Downvote’ Comment System

Vote Wars: Facebook to Add ‘Upvote’ and ‘Downvote’ Comment System

Taking a page from Reddit’s book, Facebook reportedly has plans to introduce a new voting system on comments across the platform including both upvotes and downvotes.

Facebook is beginning to roll out a new “upvote” and “downvote” comment voting system in New Zealand and Australia, according to the Guardian. The new voting system will display a vote count beside user comments — exactly as popular website Reddit does — which will indicate how many upvotes and downvotes a comment has received. A spokesman told the Guardian: “Facebook is a place for free expression, but we also recognise that there should be a way for people tell us and each other which comments are most thoughtful and useful. To that end, we’re running a test that introduces an upvote and downvote action for comments on large public page posts.”

When a user with access to the trial places their mouse cursor over a public comment on Facebook, a small box appears which reads “support better comments,” and provides a tutorial on how to give a comment an “upvote.” The box states “Press the comment up if you think the comment is helpful or insightful.” Another box titled “stop bad comments” explains how users should deal with comments they dislike. “Press the down button if a comment has bad intentions or is disrespectful. It’s still ok to disagree in a respectful way,” the instructions read.

A screenshot of the rating system can be seen below:

It would seem that this is an effort by Facebook to further expand the moderation of content on their platform by having users bring attention to content they don’t like. Facebook was criticised by the Myanmar civil society organizations last month for failure to police “hate speech” on their platform, Facebook commented on the issue saying: “We should have been faster and are working hard to improve our technology and tools to detect and prevent abusive, hateful or false content.”

While The Nazis Exterminated Jews, FDR Wanted The Jews Anywhere But Here

There have been numerous questions about why Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn’t do more to help the endangered Jews of Europe escape the inferno of the Nazi Holocaust and help them flee to the United States, but now evidence has arisen with one salient answer: Roosevelt wanted the Jews to go anywhere but the United States.

Huckabee Sanders: We ‘Try Never to Be Concerned With Anything Dealing With Adam Schiff’

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that the administration makes a habit of not being concerned about anything the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee does or says.

Asked about special counsel Robert Mueller’s questions for President Donald Trump that leaked Tuesday, Sanders said she was not able to comment on the matter. Daily Mail reporter Francesca Chambers specifically asked about a charge that the White House was behind the leak, and Sanders referred her to Trump’s outside counsel for anything involving the investigation.

"I can’t comment on anything regarding those questions, and I would refer you to the president’s outside counsel," Sanders said.

Chambers specified she was asking about the possibility of White House involvement, but Sanders said the matter was specific to the president and again referred her to the president’s counsel. Chambers then asked whether the White House was concerned about Rep. Adam Schiff’s (D., Calif.) opinion that Mueller’s leaked questions indicate a focus on obstruction of justice.

"Is the White House concerned, as Congressman Adam Schiff has said, that so many of the questions point to obstruction of justice?" Chambers asked.

"We here at the White House try never to be concerned with anything dealing with Adam Schiff," Sanders replied, moving on to another reporter’s question.

Schiff has for months alleged there is "damning" evidence of Trump campaign collusion with Russia and obstruction of justice, despite the lack of proof. He claims Republicans are preventing the matter from being investigated fully.

Former teacher sentenced to just 30 days in county jail for child pornography charges

A California judge sentenced a former school teacher on Monday to 30 days in county jail for using his cellphone to take inappropriate photos of a student and an adult co-worker for sexual purposes, KOVR-TV reported.

Police arrested Scott MacMillan, who taught K-6 science and engineering, following an investigation into the allegations made against him in 2016.

In October, the 44-year-old MacMillan pleaded no contest to charges that included attempted possession of child porn, attempted use of a concealed camera to take photos a child for sexual purposes and attempted use of a concealed camera to take photos of an adult victim for sexual purposes.

In addition to jail time, MacMillan will also serve three years’ probation and must register as a sex offender.

What happened?

Students at Heron School  in Sacramento captured video of the teacher using his cellphone to take pictures of a 12-year-old student under her desk, The Sacramento Bee reported.

A staff member at the kindergarten through eighth-grade school also reported that MacMillan tried to take a photo under her skirt.

School officials contacted Sacramento Police Department, which launched an investigation.

What did the police find?

Investigators found multiple images of girls’ chest and genital areas on his cellphone that were taken without their knowledge.

What’s the reaction to his sentence?

Some parents said they were disappointed in the sentence.

“I think it’s horrible. I think it’s ridiculous and I think you should do a lot more time for that,” one parent with two students in the district told KOVR.

A law professor at McGeorge School of Law said MacMillan’s sentence might sound light but there’s more to it than meets the eye.

“Spending 30 days in jail is not inconsequential. It’s not 30 years, which if I was a parent I might think was appropriate, but the judge made a judgment call,” John Myers told the outlet. “His career is over, he’s registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life, he’ll never teach again and he has to go to jail for 30 days.”

The Natomas Unified School District said in a statement that it placed MacMillan on leave during the initial investigation. He resigned when termination proceedings began.

“The sentencing of Scott MacMillan supports the actions we took when allegations were raised. Safety of our students and staff is our top priority, so we initially placed Mr. MacMillan on leave while we and law enforcement investigated,” the statement said.

What else?

MacMillan, who taught school for 18 years, was a finalist for California’s Presidential Award of Excellence in 2016. The award is the nation’s highest honor for science teachers.
