Gov Cuomo Gives 35,000 Felons Right to Vote in New York Mere Months Before Election

When the felon vote is crucial, it’s got to be a Democrat primary.

Showing he knows where the real power rests in his party, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week opened the door to tens of thousands of ex-cons on parole in the Empire State to vote despite a state law that forbids it.

And he did it in pure Obama-Democrat style.

According to the Democrat & Chronicle of Rochester, Cuomo signed an executive order Wednesday that would grant conditional pardons to felons who’ve been released from prison but still are under court supervision through the parole system. New York law doesn’t allow felons to vote until their parole has been served, but Cuomo’s pardon would get criminals around that.

Naturally, Cuomo made the announcement at the annual convention of the “Rev.” Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, a radical-left group that this year, according to New York’s Amsterdam News, attracted liberal luminaries like former Attorney General Eric Holder, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and California Sen. Kamala Harris.

“In this state, when you’re released from prison and you’re on parole, you still don’t have the right to vote,” Cuomo told Sharpton’s following (which probably has more first-hand experience with felony conviction law than most political gatherings).

“Now how can that be? You did your time. You paid your debt. You’re released, but you still don’t have a right to vote.”

It might sound odd that a man who’s been governor for four years doesn’t seem to have already realized what the state’s laws said about voting until now, but it’s a good bet it’s got a lot to do with the “battle of the lefties” primary challenge he’s facing from former “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon.

Do you think released felons should be able to vote when they’re still on parole?

Being an Obama-style Democrat, Cuomo made the move after New York’s state Senate blocked a similar bill, according to Fox News.

New York state Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox called Cuomo’s order a “power grab,” according to The New York Times.

New York’s Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan, a Republican, was disgusted.

“This will give rapists and murderers voting privileges that they shouldn’t have and they don’t deserve,” Flanagan said, according to the Democrat & Chronicle.

Mike Long, chairman of the state’s Conservative Party called out Cuomo for running roughshod over the law just to win an election.

“I think what he is doing is unconstitutional, number one,” Long said. “Number two, I think he’s pandering to the extreme left-wing elements of our nation.”

Notice that Long didn’t say “left-wing elements of our state.” This story is bigger than that. Cuomo is widely thought to have national ambitions and is a potential contender for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2020.

But first, Cuomo needs to win another term in office, and to do that, he needs to first beat a former TV actress in his party’s June 26 primary. And to do that, he needs to pander to convicted criminals with an Obama-style executive order that makes legitimate lawmakers disgusted.

Whoa: DOJ Inspector General sends criminal referral for Andrew McCabe to U.S. Attorney

You know who you can thank for this? James Comey! He’s the one who initiated the IG investigation into leaks to the WSJ in October 2016 about the FBI’s investigation of the Clinton Foundation, or so he claimed to the Daily Beast. Which makes this tweet from January seem … awkward now:

Comey will be on Jake Tapper’s show for an interview within the hour. I wonder what the first question will be.

The Justice Department inspector general referred its finding that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe repeatedly misled investigators who were examining a media disclosure to the top federal prosecutor in D.C. to determine whether McCabe should be charged with a crime, according to people familiar with the matter…

Lying to federal investigators is a crime punishable by up to five years in prison, and some legal analysts speculated in the wake of the report that the inspector general seemed to be laying out a case for accusing McCabe of such conduct. The report alleged that one of McCabe’s lies “was done knowingly and intentionally” — which is a key aspect of the federal crime

Ironically, Comey — who appointed McCabe to his post as the No. 2 official in the FBI — stressed in his book released this week the importance of telling the truth to federal investigators and holding accountable those who do not.

“People must fear the consequences of lying in the justice system or the system can’t work,” wrote Comey in his new book, per WaPo, and how here we are. Will the next McCabe fundraising webathon be for bail money?

Comey reiterated yesterday on “The View” when asked about McCabe that lying to the feds isn’t okay. McCabe and his lawyer didn’t like that:

“In his comments this week about the McCabe matter, former FBI Director James Comey has relied on the accuracy and the soundness of the Office of the Inspector General’s (OIG) conclusions in their report on Mr. McCabe. In fact, the report fails to adequately address the evidence (including sworn testimony) and documents that prove that Mr. McCabe advised Director Comey repeatedly that he was working with the Wall Street Journal on the stories in question prior to publication. Neither Mr. Comey nor the OIG is infallible, and in this case neither of them has it right.”

The wrinkle here is that the IG’s recommendation is based partly on a test of credibility between McCabe and Comey himself. McCabe claims that when Comey asked him in October 2016 whether he had authorized any info on the Clinton Foundation probe to be released to the WSJ, McCabe told him yes, that he was working with the paper to correct inaccuracies in the story. Comey, however, told the IG that McCabe told him he didn’t know who’d been talking to the paper. Upon further investigation, the IG agreed with Comey. Which is to say, if this turns into a prosecution — and there’s no guarantee that it will — the star witness against Andrew McCabe might be … James Comey.

The statute here, by the way, is the same statute that Mike Flynn pleaded guilty to violating: 18 U.S.C. 1001, which makes it a crime to lie to federal officials. The U.S. Attorney will be under heavy political pressure to indict McCabe in order to show that the “no lying” rule applies to its own officers just as much as it does to Trump’s aides. Although I wonder if Trump might inadvertently let them off the hook by tweeting something celebratory about the McCabe referral, leaving the U.S. Attorney to argue that the president’s endless Twitter attacks on McCabe have made it impossible for him to get a fair trial. As such, he might not be charged or, if he’s amenable, he may be allowed to cop a plea with a wrist-slap penalty. If anything is capable of driving home the lesson to Trump that he shouldn’t be tweeting about pending legal matters, watching McCabe walk free because of his big mouth might be it.

Nah, who are we kidding. Nothing will drive that lesson home. Exit question: What if McCabe and Michael Cohen end up as cellmates in the federal pen? I smell sitcom.

Illegal Aliens Caught Near Border With ‘Assault-Style Firearms,’ Says Border Patrol

Reverse operation fast and furious.

Via Breitbart:

Border Patrol agents arrested a group of heavily armed Mexican nationals who illegally crossed the border into southern Arizona. The agents found three Mexican nationals who were carrying multiple weapons–including “assault-style firearms.”

Tucson Sector agents teamed up with air support from U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations (CBP-AMO) to locate the group of men after camera surveillance detected them walking north about 17 miles from the Arizona-Mexico Border, according to information provided to Breitbart Texas from CBP in Tuscon.

Helicopters from the Yuma and Tucson Air Branches were dispatched with Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) agents to make contact with the heavily armed group.

After arriving on the scene, the BORSTAR agents utilized a K-9 to locate an 18-year-old Mexican national hiding in the brush. The K-9 also discovered “multiple assault-style firearms” and additional ammunition.

Agents arrested the Mexican national and transported him to the Ajo Station for processing and questioning, officials said.

Breitbart Texas spoke with CBP officials Wednesday afternoon and learned the men were openly carrying weapons as they marched north from the border in a remote area with added survival supplies befitting a long trek. Officials could not say why they were carrying such a large number of firearms at this time.

Twitter Suspends Conservative Filmmaker Who Dared Imply Transgenderism Is a Mental Illness

Social media has greatly advanced our ability to freely exchange ideas … but what happens when it turns ugly?

Simply having an “unapproved” opinion is now enough for people to be silenced, at least if a troubling claim by conservative pundit Mark Dice is accurate.

Last week, the author, filmmaker and commentator stated a view that millions of Americans likely agree with, but found himself in a chilling situation that can only be compared to George Orwell’s “1984.”

“Right-wing commentator Mark Dice, famous for YouTube video interviews with random passers-by in public spaces, says that his Twitter account was suspended Thursday of last week after he implied that transgenderism is a mental illness,” explained Lifesite News.

The incident began when Dice voiced his opinion that Facebook letting users choose literally any description they wanted as their “gender” was a bit over the top.

“58 different genders wasn’t ‘inclusive’ enough for Facebook, so now instead of picking from a list of options, that section is a ‘fill in the blank.’  The company is embracing mental illness on a massive scale. #Zuckerberg,” Mark Dice posted.

Is social media enforcement being used as a new form of censorship?

It was a simple and not particularly outlandish opinion: People cannot invent new genders out of thin air. Whether or not you agree with Dice on gender identity is beside the point, however. What happened next should raise serious questions about free speech and platforms like Twitter.

An angry user responded to Dice, and demanded to know if he thought “fill in the blank” gender identity was a mental illness.

“All of them but two, yes,” Mark Dice replied.

That simple answer was apparently enough to put his Twitter on lockdown. “Soon after the exchange, Dice’s response disappeared from his Twitter feed, and Dice announced via Facebook that Twitter had suspended his account until he agreed to delete the tweet,” reported Lifesite.

The pundit included a screenshot of his Twitter account, which showed the social media platform literally demanding that he delete his last tweet if he wanted to continue using the service.

RELATED: Late Night Writer’s Sick ‘Joke’ About Barbara Bush Backfires Big Time

“This is the tweet Twitter is trying to force me to delete, for ‘violating’ their terms of service,” wrote Dice. “They locked me out of my account until I ‘agree’ that what I said was wrong!”

Remember, Mark Dice didn’t personally attack anyone. He didn’t hurl curse words. He didn’t threaten violence. What he did was answer another person’s question about unlimited genders, based on his own views on the issue.

Actually, it turns out that Dice is not the only one who sees some gender identity claims as a mental disorder. The American Psychiatric Association recognizes Gender Dysphoria — previously called Gender Identity Disorder — as a psychiatric condition.

“Gender dysphoria diagnosis involves … a marked incongruence between one’s experienced/expressed gender and primary and/or secondary sex characteristics,” states the APA’s “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

If somebody identified as a gender so obscure that they had to write it in on a profile by hand, it’s a reasonable conclusion that they might have gender identity disorder or “gender dysphoria.” Even if you disagree with this conclusion, the point is that Mark Dice was stating his opinion on the matter.

Keep in mind that liberal commentators constantly imply or openly state that President Trump is mentally unstable. That opinion is allowed without question, but if you happen to think that 58 genders are a bit much, it’s into Twitter jail for you.

After sharing a screenshot of the Orwellian demand that he delete his tweet and essentially change his views or be banned, Dice pointed out the absurdity of the situation.

“My reply was to a question someone tweeted to me asking if the countless gender expressions were a mental illness. It’s time Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey gets grilled by Congress about the censorship of Conservatives. Unbelievable,” he ranted.

“Peanut butter isn’t a gender, you lunatics! Neither are the dozens of others that Cultural Marxists have concocted, and that Twitter, Facebook and YouTube embrace. The Left needs to stop this mass-mental illness,” the pundit declared.

There is some speech that doesn’t belong online. Open threats of violence, pornography, and gore are all examples of content that platforms like Twitter might understandably ban. Stating a fairly common opinion, however, shouldn’t be on that blacklist.

There comes a point when trying to police the internet becomes an excuse to censor speech. Like a 17th Century witch-hunt, forcing people to recant their diverse views or burn at the proverbial stake is getting out of hand.

Situation Involving Fresno State Professor Gets Significantly Worse

Via Daily Wire:

The situation involving a professor at Fresno State University who rejoiced over the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush got a whole lot worse for the university after new tweets were discovered.

Professor Randa Jarrar ignited controversy with a series of offensive tweets celebrating the death of Bush and the pain that the family is experiencing as a result of her death. Jarrar even bragged about how much money she made as a tenured professor, saying, “I will never be fired.”

Jarrar has since locked her account after racist and anti-Semitic tweets were discovered.

“I can’t wait for the old white guard of literary writers and “critics” to die. Their time is f**king up, too,” Jararr wrote.

Women’s March Leader Proves Once Again That Intersectionality Doesn’t Care About Jews

First, Farrakhan. Then backing sex trafficking. Now this.

Via Daily Wire:

In yet another piece of evidence for the idea that the brand of intersectionality pushed by the Women’s March excludes Jews, co-president Tamika Mallory called for a national boycott against Starbucks thanks to the company’s relationship with . . . the Anti-Defamation League. The ADL is one of the more left-leaning organizations in America, but Mallory hates them because they had the temerity to call out her association with anti-Semite extraordinaire Louis Farrakhan.

On Tuesday, as reported by The Daily Caller, she issued a statement explaining, “So you are aware, Starbucks was on a decent track until they enlisted the Anti-Defamation League to build their anti-bias training. The ADL is CONSTANTLY attacking black and brown people. This is a sign that they are tone deaf and not committed to addressing the concerns of black folks. Be clear what’s happening here!”

Glenn Beck Selling His Private Jet as His Media Empire Crumbles

Glenn Beck Selling His Private Jet as His Media Empire Crumbles

Glenn Beck is reportedly downsizing his assets as his media empire dwindles, posting his private jet for sale for an undisclosed amount on a site that sells used aircraft.

The Daily Beast reported that Beck listed his 1966 DC9-15 aircraft–which he purchased for $1 million in 2015–for sale on Controller, a online retailer for used aircraft.

The jet’s registration number listed on the website, N8860, is the same Federal Aviation Administration registration number given to a jet belonging to Mercury Radio Arts—Beck’s radio production company.

The 12-passenger luxury jet includes a convection oven, bar with marble countertops, and a fold-out table in the dining area.

Mercury Radio Arts purchased the jet in 2015 for $1 million from right-wing billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife. Even though Beck’s conservative media empire struggled financially, he held onto the jet.

In April 2016, not too long after Beck purchased the jet, he laid off 40 staffers from his news site the Blaze to “satisfy the requirements of a multi-million-dollar bank loan” Beck took out to keep his struggling media enterprise afloat.

A report from October 2016 noted that the Blaze’s editorial department dropped from 25 employees to six employees during the height of election season.

The woes for the Blaze continued when Beck laid off 30 percent of the Blaze’s staff in September 2017—although he managed to keep his personal chef on the payroll.

Beck’s once-successful media enterprise has had issues over the past few years due to declining ad revenue, a sharp drop in web traffic and subscribers, less reach for the television network as cable distributors dropped the subscription-only channel from their lineups, and management troubles.

Part of the reason for the slump in business for the outlet was due to Beck’s failure to embrace President Trump in the primaries and the general election. He emerged as one of the leading voices in the “Never Trump” movement, putting him at odds with much of his conservative audience.

Pennsylvania Sheriff Bars His Office from Conducting Business with Any Company Boycotting NRA

Pennsylvania Sheriff Bars His Office from Conducting Business with Any Company Boycotting NRA

Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe has banned his office from conducting business with any company involved in a boycott of the NRA.

He enacted the prohibition earlier this month but news surrounding it just became public this week.

The Washington Examiner reports Slupe sent everyone in his office an order which said, “Though I cannot dictate which companies you utilize in your personal life, I can and am going to dictate which companies the Butler County Sheriff’s Office will not use.” He stressed that companies boycotting the NRA are not to be used “when making arrangements for any extradition or stay over [being scheduled].”

On February 24, 2018, Breitbart News reported that over a dozen companies cut ties with the NRA in reaction to post-Parkland gun control campaigns.  Those companies included:

  • First National Bank of Omaha
  • Enterprise Rent-A-Car
  • Symantec
  • Metlife
  • Delta Airlines
  • United
  • Best Western

Sheriff Slupe reacted to the boycotts by saying, “These companies made the choice to boycott the NRA for whatever their reason(s) are, so, I am making the choice not to support them. I believe it is important to send a message as a department that we support the members of our community that are members of the NRA that have had nothing to do with any of the shootings, yet they are the face of the blame in the eyes of corporate America.”

Liberal professor dances ‘happily on the grave’ of Barbara Bush. The college responds.

An author and English professor at Fresno State is under fire by many on social media after mocking the death of former first lady Barbara Bush — and now it appears that she’s on leave.

What did she say?

Randa Jarrar celebrated Barbara Bush’s death on Twitter Tuesday night.

In a series of tweets that are no longer public, Jarrar wrote, “Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal. F*** outta here with your nice words.”

She added, “PSA: either you are against these pieces of s**t and their genocidal ways or you’re part of the problem. That’s actually how simple this is. I’m happy the witch is dead. Can’t wait for the rest of her family to fall to their demise the way 1.5 million Iraqis have.”

After receiving tons of blowback on Twitter, Jarrar wrote, “All the hate I’m getting ALMOST made me forget how happy I am that George W Bush is probably really sad right now.”

She added, “I’m using [woke points] to dance happily on the grave of someone I despise.”

The liberal professor added that she didn’t even care about the criticism, because she couldn’t lose her job at Fresno State.

“I work as a tenured professor,” she boasted. “I make 100K a year doing that. I will never be fired. I will always have people wanting to hear what I have to say.”

As of the time of this writing, Jarrar’s Twitter account remains set to private.

What did the college say?

In response to the outcry against Jarrar, Fresno State President Joseph Castro issued a statement.

“On behalf of Fresno State, I extend my deepest condolences to the Bush family on the loss of our former First Lady, Barbara Bush,” Castro said in the statement, which was shared on Twitter. “We share the deep concerns expressed by others over the personal comments made today by professor Randa Jarrar, a professor in the English Department at Fresno State.”

“Her statements were made as a private citizen, not as a representative of Fresno State,” the statement continued. “Professor Jarrar’s expressed personal views and commentary are obviously contrary to the core values of our University, which include respect and empathy for individuals with divergent points of view, and a sincere commitment to mutual understanding and progress.”

So what about her being on leave?

A previously cached version of her Twitter page describes Jarrar as an author and professor and boasts of her essays published on the internet.

“Books: A MAP OF HOME & HIM, ME, MUHAMMAD ALI. Professor. Essays in @salon, @nytmag, @buzzfeed, @the_rumpus, @thesunmagazine etc Muslim & Arab AF,” the “about me” portion reads.

However, Jarrar’s page, at the time of this writing, reads, “Currently on leave from Fresno State. this is my private account and represents my opinions.”
