Thanks to racism, we can’t have nice things. Or in this case, safe things. Following the Florida school shooting conservatives (sane people) have suggested arming and training teachers as a commonsense way of keeping students safe. The Florida State Legislature just passed a law allowing for this, but wouldn’t you know it, liberals (insane people) say that arming teachers is racist. Why? Because everything is racist. Duh.

KMIZ reports:

Florida lawmakers celebrated the passage of a school safety bill on Wednesday in response to last month’s shooting in Parkland. But the bill left some with a new concern.

Parents, civil rights groups and some Democratic lawmakers warn that part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act could have deadly unintended consequences for students of color.

The measure in question establishes a voluntary “guardian” program that allows personnel who meet certain criteria to carry firearms in schools‎.

As you’ve probably guessed, “unintended consequences for students of color” spells racism with a capital “R.”

Democrats in the Republican-controlled House and Senate fought unsuccessfully to remove the controversial provision from the legislation. They argued that minority students — who are often subject to disproportionate levels of punishment compared to their white counterparts and are more likely to be mistaken for perpetrators — could become targets.

Here’s a fun quote from one black mom:

“They’re going to be targeted. It’s going to be target practice,” said mother of three Sulaya Williams.

I’m not sure this woman understands what target practice is, but that’s unimportant now because of this:

“We’ve already been traumatized and looking over our shoulder after everything that happened with Trayvon Martin and what happened in Ferguson and everywhere else and now we’re going to be sitting here wondering are our kids going to be targets while going to school?” Williams continued.

I guess she could teach her children not to assault armed citizens and police officers to avoid getting shot, but that’s probably racist too.

Rep. Tracie Davis, a Democrat who represents part of Duval County in northeastern Florida, said the issue of gun violence “affects our communities in a way that some in this chamber will never understand.”

Rep. Cynthia Stafford, another Miami-area Democrat, called it a “dangerous policy.” She said she heard from parents and students who do not want more guns in schools, “So why are we doing this?” she asked.

Stafford cited the impact of implicit bias — a term that refers to unconscious attitudes that impact our actions and decisions — on people of color as another factor that makes the program dangerous.

“I’m worried a black or brown boy running down the hall like anybody else to get to safety reaches in his pocket to pull out his cell phone could be mistaken for [a] shooter,” said Stafford.

But wait, this racism is so bad it attacks the plan to arm teachers from every angle:

She also expressed concern that a minority school staffer serving as guardian with a gun would be seen not as protector, but as a perpetrator.

The basic gist is that white people shouldn’t have guns because they will use them to kill minorities and minorities can’t have guns because white people will kill them too. Also that guns are so freakin’ evil that if that if white people have them they won’t be able to resist their racist urges to shoot innocent black children.

There is one silver lining in this story: I finally found something that isn’t racist in a world where everything is racist. Apparently keeping schools as “gun-free” zones and mass shooter magnets is not racist. Ensuring that students are not safe from mass slaughter is the one thing that doesn’t qualify as racism.

The dumbest guy in Congress is trying to out-dumb himself with this one. California democrat Ted Lieu, who can’t seem to prove that Trump/Russia collusion nonsense, has added the NRA to the list of evil entities that helped steal the 2016 election away from Hillary Clinton. Now all he has to do is link Jesus to the conspiracy it it will represent everything democrats hate in one unified insanity theory.

Terrible Ted sent this thing out today:

With a link to his unhinged letter. It’s way too long to reprint here, but he opens the letter addressed to NRA VP Wayne LaPierre by accusing the organization of working with the Russians to influence the 2016 election. His proof? The NRA reportedly spent $30 million dollars supporting Trump’s campaign and Lieu can’t imagine they could come up with that kind of dough without Russia’s help. He should look into how much Planned Parenthood dropped on Hillary Clinton’s campaign if he wants to be astounded by insane political spending.

Another reason why Lieu thinks the NRA helped Russia steal the election is because the NRA endorsed Donald Trump earlier than Lieu thought was appropriate. He doesn’t explain how this proves collusion, but he’s Ted Lieu damn it, he doesn’t owe you anything.

Basically Lieu has put together this insanity because someone from the NRA was at a 2015 dinner hosted by Russia Today and attended by Russian president Vladimir Putin and former national security advisor Micheal Flynn. For the record, Jill Stein was also at this dinner. How did the NRA know in 2015 that Trump would be the GOP nominee for president? Again, Lieu doesn’t have to make sense out of this.

I once had dinner at the Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank, CA while comedian George Lopez was there. It doesn’t mean I colluded to be Mexican and unfunny.

Lieu calls this a “complex web of Russian officials, NRA officials, and Trump campaign associates.” He also shakes his fist at the NRA with this line:

“It is deeply disturbing that an organization like the NRA, whose stated purpose and objective is to “protect and defend the Constitution,” would meet with sanctioned individuals connected to a foreign adversary that seems determined to undermine our elections,” wrote Lieu.

No, what is deeply disturbing is that someone as dense as Ted Lieu is both a US Congressman and a member of the House Judiciary Committee. He belongs in a straight jacket in a padded cell. People who spew conspiracy theories like this are a danger to themselves and others.

As far as I can tell, Lieu was sitting around with his tinfoil hat on trying to come up with a way to attack Trump and the NRA, without needing two separate lines of bullshit. Not only is he dumb and crazy, he’s also a lazy sack of crap.

Because you can’t spell U LIE without L-I-E-U, Ted ends the letter by stating that it is a fact that Russian influenced the 2016 election. A more accurate statement would be that some Russian companies placed bizarre non-candidate-specific ads on social media that had no bearing on the outcome of the 2016 election.

I know Ted isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, so to help him out: Hillary lost fair and square because she ran a lousy campaign and people hate her.

If you listen to mainstream media narratives, the United States is apparently the only place where crime happens, and if we could just get rid of guns and be more like Europe, everything would be perfect.

That viewpoint was just hit with a cold dose of reality after a supposedly “secure” embassy in London was attacked on Friday in that time zone.

All of the details of the incident are not yet known, but the Fars News Agency reported that a small mob of armed men breached the perimeter of the Iranian embassy in London, taunting police and causing a standoff that may have lasted for hours. And though they were armed, guns weren’t the issue.

“Early reports said the raiders are four men who have opened their way into the embassy premises, while threatening people on the scene with machetes and baseball bats,” Fars, the Iranian government’s semi-official news agency, stated.

“The London Police have reportedly deployed around the embassy but took no action in the first couple of hours after the attack,” the Iranian news agency continued.

Journalists from several other outlets confirmed the incident. “Iranian Embassy in London has been attacked by supporters of Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Shirazi,” tweeted Hossein Aghaie, a Persian expert and contributor for the BBC.

“The masked assailants touting machetes dragged down Iranian flag, chanted slogans,” he stated.

IFP News, another Iran-based agency, reported that four supporters of a “radical group” had finally been arrested after entering the embassy grounds and climbing onto a balcony of the building.

“Immediately after the incident was reported, Dr. Araqchi, the (Iranian) deputy foreign minister for political affairs, expressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strong protest to the British ambassador to Tehran and demanded that the U.K. police fully protect our diplomats in London and immediately deal with the assailants,” explained Bahram Qassemi, a spokesman from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

The Iranian representative also scolded the government for failing to adequately protect the supposedly “secure” location. Sound familiar?

“The British government is duty-bound to seriously and decisively fulfill its responsibility to protect the Islamic Republic of Iran’s diplomats and diplomatic centers and immediately arrest and prosecute those who have trespassed the diplomatic sanctuary,” Qassemi declared.

Qassemi told IFP News that the British ambassador to Tehran had officially apologized on behalf of the U.K. government for the security breach, and assured diplomats that British riot police finally had the situation under control.

Although this incident thankfully ended without bloodshed, it echoed a much more dramatic attack that took place at the Iranian embassy in London in the spring of 1980. During that breach, six armed men entered the embassy and took 26 people hostage. The six-day crisis only ended after British SAS operatives raided the building.

There are a few takeaways from this most recent incident. Perhaps the most important is that even at a “secure” diplomatic location, those who seek to break the law and cause havoc will find a way.

Pretending that bad men will act rationally is a fool’s errand; it’s better to recognize that laws and signs cannot stop attacks, and to prepare people and possible targets to defend themselves.

Another point is that assurances of protection from the government are often hollow. As we’ve seen time and again, police and government authorities are sometimes too slow to stop an incident before it begins. There must be other contingency plans in place besides trusting the “cavalry” to save the day.

Reality doesn’t care about narratives or slick-sounding slogans. Europe may be slowly realizing that, and so should America.

For liberals, it’s getting harder and harder to blame gun laws.

As the story surrounding the Feb. 14 campus shooting in Florida changes with every passing day, the original narrative that gave arrogant teenagers and opportunistic gun-grabbers license to attack Second Amendment supporters keeps crumbling.

And the latest revelations are just one more chip in the wall of deception that’s grown up around the atrocity.

Recently released records of radio traffic between the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and the deputy stationed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School destroy Deputy Scot Peterson’s excuse for not engaging the gunman as soon as the shooting began.

An attorney for Peterson told reporters after the shooting that the deputy did not enter the building where the incident was taking place because he thought the shots were coming from outside the school, according to CNN.

But, according to a report published by the Miami Herald this week, records of Peterson’s radio exchanges with the sheriff’s office show the deputy knew full well where the carnage was taking place – and even directed other deputies responding to the scene not to go inside the campus building designated Building 12.

“Do not approach the 12 or 1300 building, stay at least 500 feet away,” Peterson told fellow deputies, shortly after the shooting started about 2:20 p.m., according to the Herald.

Meanwhile, the gunman was completing his deadly work – killing a total of 17 people. According to the Herald, no law enforcement officers entered the building until the gunman had thrown down his weapon and mingled among students escaping the violence. (The suspected killer, a 19-year-old ex-Douglas student Nikolas Cruz, was captured off-campus at about 3:40 p.m.)

The Herald’s new account not only destroys the original story Peterson’s attorney gave, it pulls the rug out from a defense of the deputy offered by Douglas student David Hogg, who became an omnipresent media personality in the days after the shooting.

The media loved interviewing Hogg because he demanded the same things the media does – more gun laws, more gun laws and more gun laws. (Though he might have jumped the shark when he went on CNN to proposing that spring breakers boycott Florida until it passes more gun laws. That’s an arrogance his youth can barely excuse.)

In one of seemingly countless interviews, Hogg opined that Peterson’s inability to confront the gunman wasn’t an act of cowardice, just the choice of a man who knew he was outgunned.

“Who wants to go down the barrel of an AR-15, even with a Glock?” Hogg told MSNBC. “And I know that’s what these police officers are supposed to do, but they’re people too.”

Well, the recordings published by the Herald don’t contain any mention of an AR-15, just an apparently panicked sheriff’s deputy confronting the test of a lifetime — and failing.

The latest revelation is just another in a series of facts that have come out since the shooting that show the tragedy could have been prevented at any number of levels if the Broward sheriff’s office had done its job in handling previous calls about the gunman.

It could have been prevented if the FBI had done its job, and performed any kind of follow-up to tips it received about Cruz’s expressed desire to kill.

And there’s no way of knowing for sure, of course, but there’s a good chance the death toll would would have been at least reduced if Peterson had done his job and responded to the gunshots immediately instead of hanging outside the building where the slaughter was taking place. (He has since resigned.)

The dead of Parkland have caused a nationwide discussion about gun control laws. On Friday, Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed a new law in the Sunshine State that, among other things, raises the legal age to buy a gun from 18 to 21 and gives the state’s law enforcement officers greater freedom to seize firearms from those considered “mentally unfit,” according to CNN.

The same law also allows some teachers to be armed on school grounds, if the local school districts and sheriff’s offices agree.

That’s one possible solution to school shootings that might actually work, and naturally it’s the one liberals oppose (along with their puppets like David Hogg).

But as the recordings published by the Herald show, the only one on the campus that day who had a gun to stop the killing spree failed to do it — then apparently lied about why he failed to do it (that he thought the shots were coming from outside).

The recordings also show the defense offered by that deputy’s supporters was also based on a lie (that he didn’t want to go up against an AR-15).

As the country is finding out, the Parkland killings came at the end of a long, long trail of official incompetence, by the same government liberals trust so deeply. Yet gun-grabbers have focused on nothing but more gun laws in its wake.

But thanks to revelations like the Herald’s report, it’s getting harder and harder to blame gun laws.

That won’t stop liberals from trying, but it’s up to Second Amendment supporters to make sure they don’t succeed.
