CBS Poll on Armed Teachers Will Send Chill Down Democrats’ Spines

If you have been seeing a mass of videos and memes created with the sole intent of getting you to believe you’re the only one who thinks it might be a good idea to allow teachers to be responsibly-armed on school grounds, you are not alone.

You are being misinformed.

A recent CBS News poll revealed that a surprising 44 percent of Americans support the idea of more teachers being allowed to carry in schools.

It’s not a majority of Americans, but it’s a far larger portion than liberals are willing to admit.

That’s from a mainstream media group, too — the true percentage may well be higher than that.

The study further reported that 53 percent of those surveyed support the ban of the AR-15, 56 percent support a ban on bump stocks, and 75 percent support a ban on bump stocks, which further indicates to me that the results may be skewed a bit left of the political aisle.

In the wake of the Florida school shooting on Feb. 14 Democrats slammed current gun laws with demands ranging from stronger background checks to the repealing of the Second Amendment.

They were more than happy to weaponize victims of the school shooting to push their point across, as well.

I mean after all, the Second Amendment was conjured by a bunch of racist white men with a couple good ideas, right?

Should teachers be allowed to be armed in the classroom?

Now, let’s talk about this for a minute.

The Second Amendment is in place for a multitude of reasons — none of which are hunting. It allows for the defense against foreign enemies, either from a foreign government or assailants.

It also — and just as importantly — guarantees our God-given right to defend ourselves against a tyrannical government.

Liberals insist that the United States without a Second Amendment would be a death-free utopia, but we already know what a Second Amendment-less United States would look like.

Just take a look at how many crimes occur in gun-free zones.

President Donald Trump will push for armed teachers, and the media will tie themselves into knots. He very likely will beat the leftists in this conflict, ramping up public support for the idea in the process, but at the end of the day we have to remember that our right to remain armed doesn’t come from the government.

It comes from up above.

Lib Reporter Scared That NRA Wants to Arm Women, Jews

In the wake of the Parkland, Florida high school mass shooting, the gun-hating liberal media went overboard, as they tend to do, with their all-out assault on the Second Amendment, the National Rifle Association, Republican politicians, gun owners and all who support any of them.

It has been made abundantly clear in recent days that plenty of liberals want to ban virtually all guns — yes, all of them — as they don’t believe anyone truly needs a gun, nor do they buy into the provable notion that bad guys with guns are typically  stopped by good guys with guns.

As such, they balk at the idea of regular American citizens being armed for their own protection, and mock the strawman argument that the NRA is trying to force a gun into the hands of every single person, particularly those from especially vulnerable societal groups, like women and minorities and those who work in certain professions.

Case in point is this tweet and linked article from Vice News which fretted that the NRA wants to arm schoolteachers, preachers and women … yes, Vice apparently stands against women being allowed to possess firearms.

Conservative Tribune Daily Email

Thanks For Subscribing!

As an aside, the sarcastic comments in response to that tweet are pure gold. What with women now owning guns (the horror!), they’ll also now expect to be able to buy property, drive cars or even vote as well!

But back to the Vice article by Harry Cheadle, which listed out some of the various societal sub-groups and professions that he apparently doesn’t believe need to be, or perhaps shouldn’t even be allowed to be, armed for the protection of themselves and others.

That “very incomplete list” included the aforementioned schoolteachers, preachers and women, as well as nightclub attendees, gay and transgender people, black people, Jews, holocaust survivors, college students, movie theater attendees, or pilots and passengers on planes.

Do you think women and other vulnerable groups in society have a right to be armed?

He also doesn’t believe that truckers, firefighters, paramedics, judges and legislators, doctors and nurses or anyone with an office job should have a gun either, among many others.

To be sure, the article was a tongue-in-cheek attack on the left’s strawman argument that the NRA wants to place a gun in every single American citizens’ hands, which simply isn’t the case. The NRA merely thinks every single American citizen has the right to possess a firearm, if they so choose.

Breitbart‘s AWR Hawkins noted that many of those contained on the Vice News list were some of the most vulnerable in our society, who most certainly should be permitted to possess the best tool for defending themselves, a firearm.

“After unarmed teachers have been killed in gun-free school zone after gun-free school zone, VICE’s criticism is aimed at the NRA for wanting teachers to be able to defend themselves,” Hawkins wrote. “After armed attacks on numerous churches, VICE is bothered that the NRA wants ‘preachers’ and other church members to be able to defend the congregation. And after 49 were killed in the gun-free Orlando Pulse nightclub, VICE is bothered that the NRA wants to allow club goers with concealed permits to carry in order to defend themselves and others.”

RELATED: School Shooting Victims Praise Trump — You Won’t See This in the MSM

We suspect that all of the women who have ever used a firearm to defend themselves from assault or rape would beg to differ with Vice as to whether they “need” a gun or not, and we suspect we’d find a similar reaction from most of the other victimized groups on the list as well, such as Jews and holocaust survivors and members of the LGBTQ community.

Really what this boils down to is that the left doesn’t think anybody should be allowed to own firearms, no matter how vulnerable or defenseless they are without them, and would repeal the Second Amendment and confiscate all privately owned guns in a heartbeat if they could.

We wholeheartedly disagree with that tyrannical sentiment and support the natural right of all law-abiding citizens, regardless of race, gender, class or profession to be armed if they so desire, as was intended by our nation’s Founding Fathers.

Please share this on social media so everyone can see that the leftists at Vice News don’t think women, Jews or other minorities or those in vulnerable professions should be allowed to possess a gun.

What do you think of this liberal reporter expressing fear that the NRA dares to suggest vulnerable women and minorities should be armed? Scroll down to comment below!

Trump Defies Left, Issues Huge NRA Endorsement

The Second Amendment is currently under all-out assault… but President Donald Trump isn’t caving in.

After the tragic school shooting by a mentally deranged young man in Florida, liberals and the media have pointed the finger at a group that had no connection to the crime: The National Rifle Association.

First, a CNN-organized “town hall” event became a clearly biased chance to bash gun owners and essentially accuse the NRA and its spokesperson Dana Loesch of having blood on their hands.

Then, companies including Enterprise Rent-a-Car which had discount programs for NRA members began tearing up their agreements, and made it obvious that any member of the gun safety and firearm ownership group was unwelcome in their locations.

With all of this hysterical pressure on an organization made up of some five million law-abiding gun owners, it would have been easy for Donald Trump to distance himself from the NRA. Instead he did the opposite.

During a quick chat with reporters while leaving the White House to attend a conservative conference, Trump actually defended the NRA and took a stand for its many members.

“These are good people, in many cases great people, they are patriots, they love our country,” the president said. “The NRA wants to do the right thing, I’ve been speaking to them.”

At the same time, Trump acknowledged that there were problems within the country that needed to be addressed, particularly with mental health and school security.

“Trump said that he would fix the issue of mass shootings in schools, even though it had been a problem for years. He called for the end of gun-free zones at schools,” reported Breitbart News.

Do you support the NRA after the Florida incident?

“You have to have a certain degree of offensive power within the school, it can’t always be defense,” the president stated.

While he had respectful words for the millions of Americans who make up the NRA, Trump also took a very critical tone when talking about one of the sheriff’s deputies who reportedly waited for four minutes, armed but doing nothing, while children were murdered inside the school.

“He didn’t have the courage or something happened, he certainly did a poor job,” the president said of Scot Peterson, the school resource officer who has now resigned in disgrace.

Even Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel could not hide his disappointment in the behavior of the sworn deputy during the tragedy.

RELATED: CBS Poll on Armed Teachers Will Send Chill Down Democrats’ Spines

“What matters is that when we, in law enforcement, arrive at an active shooter, we go in and address the target,” the sheriff said, according to Fox News. “And that’s what should’ve been done.”

Israel elaborated that he expected Deputy Peterson or any law enforcement official to have “went in, addressed the killer, killed the killer.”

In fact, it looks like officials at almost every level dropped the ball when it came to taking the threat seriously. The sheriff’s office and the FBI reportedly received dozens of warnings that Nikolas Cruz was planning on attacking the school, but either ignored or brushed off the clues.

In light of those many failures by trained and armed government officials, the fact that so much outrage is being aimed at the National Rifle Association is simply bizarre.

There is no indication whatsoever that Cruz had even the vaguest connection to the NRA, yet all of its law-abiding members have been grouped in with a demented killer by the media and liberals.

Trump is right: NRA members are people who love America and believe in responsible gun ownership, a right guaranteed in the Constitution. Pretending that this makes them fanatics is insane, and it is refreshing that at least one leader is refusing to turn their back on the law-abiding citizens of this country.

The NRA has a message for Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel — and they’re holding nothing back

The National Rifle Association has been the target of much scrutiny since a 19-year-old deranged shooter opened fire at a Florida high school on Feb. 14. Many Americans place blame for the shooting on the NRA because the organization supports the Second Amendment.

But with all of the new information coming out about how the Broward County Sheriff’s Office botched a response to the active shooter and the investigations leading up to the shooting, the NRA took aim at the law enforcement agency for its apparent carelessness.

What did they say?

The organization tweeted Friday:

The NRA’s tweet came in response to a tweet from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The organization tweeted a statement its leader, Sheriff Scott Israel, made at a CNN town hall Wednesday night.

That night, Israel accused the NRA of not “standing up” for students nationwide because they advocate for the Second Amendment and oppose new gun restrictions arguing that increased gun regulations won’t prevent the next mass shooting. Israel directed his comments at NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch, who attended the town hall.

What new information has come out?

In addition to the report that the school resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school — who was a Broward County Sheriff’s deputy — didn’t confront the shooter, attempt to save any lives during the shooting and only took cover outside, a new report came out Friday that really placed the sheriff agency under the microscope.

That report said that three other Broward County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the school during the shooting but also didn’t act and only stood outside with their colleague.

Instead, officers from the Coral Springs police department entered the school first. They arrived to MSD and discovered the Broward County sheriff deputies with their weapons drawn but not inside the school.

Former Air Marshal: Arming Pilots Post-9/11 Worked, So Will Arming Teachers

Former Air Marshal: Arming Pilots Post-9/11 Worked, So Will Arming Teachers

Proposals to arm teachers and other staffers to better secure schools against mass shooters are worthwhile, just as arming pilots was following 9/11, said Chad Robichaux on Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight in an interview with hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak.

Robichaux is a former Special Agent with the U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS). His work with the FAMS included the development and implementation of the Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) program — including training the first wave of armed pilots following 9/11 — after the Islamic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, which screened, trained, and armed pilots.

Just as arming pilots following 9/11 has been successful in deterring hijackings and other terrorist operations, said Robichaux, so would arming teachers and school staffers be.

Armed personnel on site offer a quicker response time than law enforcement can typically provide to mass shooting scenarios, said Robichaux: “These shootings go down at these schools in an average of three minutes, and it takes up to eight minutes for law enforcement to respond, and that’s eight minutes too late.”

Left-wing resistance to defending school children via the arming of teachers and school staff resembles similar hostility toward the FFDO program’s arming of pilots, said Robichaux.

“There was a lot of pushback [to the FFDO],” said Robichaux. “People said, ‘You can’t trust these pilots with firearms.’ Well, you trust them flying your airplane. So now people are saying, ‘We can’t trust teachers with firearms.’ We trust them with our children.”

Proposals to arm teachers and school staffers “shouldn’t be written off as a ridiculous idea,” said Robichaux. “Some schools in Texas and Colorado are already doing this [with] teachers having concealed carry in their classrooms.”

Robichaux favorably recalled Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr.’s support for concealed carrying of firearms on the university’s campus.

The FFDO “extremely” screens and vets pilots, including 6-month intervals for retraining with firearms and scenarios. “We don’t arm every pilot. We wouldn’t arm every teacher, but the right ones,” said Robichaux.

Schools would cease being “soft targets” via the arming of teachers and school staffers, said Robichaux.

Knowledge of armed personnel on school campuses would dissuade prospective mass shooters from targeting said schools, said Robichaux: “Even if someone is willing to die for their cause, no one wants to be shot back at,” said Robichaux. “No one wants to get shot back at.”

Mansour described “gun-free zones” as magnets for those who wish to murder others en masse: “It just seems to make perfect sense. If you make someplace a ‘gun-free zone,’ that is automatically a target for people that want to do evil and start killing people. You’re basically announcing that we are not armed and taking away any element of surprise that a place might have if the shooter goes in.”

Robichaux is also a decorated United States Marine Corps’ Force Reconnaissance veteran as well as president and founder of the Mighty Oaks Foundation, an organization providing assistance to veterans. It describes itself as “committed to serving brokenhearted [warriors] by providing intensive peer-based discipleship through a series of programs, outpost meetings, and speaking events.”

Here’s all of the companies boycotting the NRA — and why you should boycott them back

In the days following the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, millions of Americans have placed blame on the National Rifle Association because the organization advocates for the Second Amendment and against firearm restrictions.

Now, companies who previously had relationships with the NRA are ending them after strong backlash from anti-NRA advocates who are placing pressure on the companies by threatening to boycott them if they don’t comply.

What companies have severed ties with the NRA?

The list is long and continues to grow:

  • Delta Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • Enterprise Holdings, which is the parent company of Enterprise rent-a-car, Alamo and National
  • Symantec, a cybersecurity company
  • SimpliSafe, a home-monitoring company
  • First National Bank of Omaha, which issued the NRA Visa credit card
  • MetLife
  • Wyndam Hotel Group
  • Avis
  • Hertz
  • Best Western hotel group

Writer’s perspective: Why NRA members should boycott back

While the companies have been quick to sever ties with the NRA, they have not provided NRA members with detailed reasons why. The companies have simply caved to fact-free mob outrage.

And that’s exactly why NRA members should boycott the companies boycotting or severing ties with the NRA.

The NRA had absolutely nothing to do with the tragic shooting at MSD, yet the media have given the biggest platforms to people who somehow put responsibility for the shooting on the NRA. For the average American who doesn’t follow the news or isn’t familiar with the NRA, the media has built a perception that the NRA is actually culpable for the shooting.

Again, this couldn’t be farther from the truth.

The NRA has millions of law-abiding members who lawfully and faithfully exercise their Second Amendment rights. The NRA is interested in not only spreading firearm enthusiasm, but the organization works to teach and train Americans to be highly competent in firearm usage and safety. Nothing the organization does could ever be confused for training mass killers or encouraging illegal firearm use in any way, shape or form.

To be sure, most NRA members carry guns so they can protect innocent people from the dangers of deranged people like the Florida shooter. They, and the organization they fund with annual dues, do the opposite of encourage mass shooters.

Until these companies, many of which had long-standing relationships with the NRA, offer NRA members reasons for the severed ties, the NRA’s millions of members should take their business elsewhere — to companies with backbone.

These Companies Cut Ties With NRA… Time to Boycott Them All

If you support the Second Amendment and firearms safety classes, a number of companies no longer want your business.

A handful of well-known brands are severing business agreements with the National Rifle Association after being pressured by anti-gun voices in the wake of the Florida school shooting… but they may have under-estimated the number of law-abiding gun owners in the United States.

“Several social media users pressured companies listed as working with the NRA on discounts and other programs to drop their affiliation,” reported Fox News.

“Initially, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and First National Bank of Omaha – which sponsored an NRA-related credit card – cut ties with the Virginia-based gun rights and safety organization,” Fox continued.

But it didn’t stop there. As corporations caved to hysterical anti-Second Amendment voices, the list of brands that purposely ended their programs for NRA members grew.

Conservative Tribune Daily Email

Thanks For Subscribing!

As of Feb. 24, 2018, those companies are:

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, First National Bank of Omaha, Avis Car Rental, Allied Van Lines, Budget Rent-A-Car, Chubb, Delta Airlines, Hertz Rent-A-Car, MetLife, North American Van Lines, TrueCar, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Symantec and United Airlines.

Conservative commentators quickly pointed out that those businesses are essentially giving millions of lawful gun owners the middle finger, and shooting themselves in the foot — if you’ll pardon the expression.

“People should study that list,” radio host Tony Katz declared during a Fox News appearance. “This is the list of companies that don’t believe in freedom of thought… or freedom of expression.”

Will you stop doing business with these anti-NRA companies?

“This is a list of people who haven’t thought through what it is they’re actually saying, and what they’re saying is: How dare you think differently, we punish you for it.”

Leland Vittert, the Fox anchor speaking to Katz, pointed out that companies like MetLife give discounts to other politically active organizations besides the NRA, including members of the Teamsters. Yet NRA members have been singled out to be excluded from those discount programs.

“Now they’re basing business practice on thought policing,” Katz responded. “And that has to be dealt with.” He then called on NRA members to think twice about whether they wanted to continue giving money to brands that apparently didn’t want their business.

“You have to make them hurt to make them understand that they can’t thought-police America,” the conservative host explained.

RELATED: CNN Analyst Reveals That Gun Control Isn’t the Goal… Total Removal of 2nd Amendment Is Their Wish

Katz is right: Companies are now going after people not for anything they’ve done — the criminal in Florida was not an NRA member by any stretch of the imagination — but rather merely because of what they think.

Even more appalling, they are shunning millions of Americans for believing in something that is enshrined in the Constitution.

NRA members are responsible gun owners who pass background checks, want to reduce crime, and support gun safety classes that train kids and adults to prevent accidents. These are the kind of customers the corporations want to exclude?

It’s virtue signalling, plain and simple. Cutting off discount programs for an NRA member who wants to rent a car will do nothing, absolutely zilch, to stop the next school shooter, but these companies want to pretend that they’re “helping.”

Politicians, the media, and companies all seem to forget that the National Rifle Association is not a rogue group that came out of nowhere, but is made up of everyday Americans who simply share common interests and views. Those people’s voices count, and their dollars do, too.

There are about five million official NRA members, and according to a Pew study, nearly 10 million additional people identify as supporters of the NRA although their membership has lapsed or they are part of a household that has a membership.

That’s close to 15 million people who belong to the NRA, with uncounted millions more who support gun rights but don’t join membership organizations. The number of Americans who hold concealed pistol licenses is similar.

Every company can make its own decisions about how to run their business, but they may have miscalculated the blow-back from this short sighted decision. The American people are watching.

Seven Companies That Caved to Anti-NRA Pressure

Seven Companies That Caved to Anti-NRA Pressure

Seven companies caved to anti-NRA pressure this week and cut ties with the organization, ending discounts for the NRA’s five million members.

First National Bank of Omaha, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Symantec, Metlife, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, and Best Western severed ties following the launch of a PR campaign which made the NRA its focal point following the February 14 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

Ironically, the PR campaign targeted the NRA even though the NRA is one of the few entities talking specifics about school safety and promoting grants to economically challenged schools to be sure they get the same quality of safety that wealthier schools enjoy.

On February 22, First National Bank of Omaha tweeted it was ending its partnership with the NRA:

On that same day, Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced it would discontinue offering discounts to NRA members:

The next day, February 23, Symantec, a cyber-security company, and Metlife both announced they were terminating their relationship with the NRA.

On February 24 ABC News reported that Delta Airlines, United, and Best Western were breaking with the NRA, too.

This push to drive a wedge between businesses and the NRA began with a Think Progress report suggesting there are “at least 22 corporations that the NRA says offer incentives to NRA members.” That report was followed by an Ed Krassentein tweet listing the Twitter handles of many of the companies and urging anti-Second Amendment activists to put pressure on them and “demand change.”

Report: John McCain Associate Invokes the Fifth to Avoid Testifying on Trump Hoax Dossier

NEW YORK — David J. Kramer, a former State Department official and longtime associate of John McCain, reportedly invoked the Fifth Amendment to get out of testifying before the House Intelligence Committee regarding the infamous, largely discredited 35-page dossier on President Donald Trump.

FoxNews.com reported:

Kramer, who is a central player in how the unverified Trump dossier made its way to the FBI in late 2016, testified before the committee in December in a closed-door session, indicating he had information about the dossier’s sources. A subpoena was issued for mid-January, as first reported by the Washington Examiner.

The law enforcement source confirmed, however, that Kramer did not appear and has exercised his Fifth Amendment rights.

In addition to being asked to testify on Capital Hill, Kramer last December gave a videotaped deposition as part of a separate court case against BuzzFeed, which first published the dossier.  According to a characterization of the deposition by Fox News, which viewed British court documents, Kramer discussed his communication with Christopher Steele, the former British spy hired by the controversial Fusion GPS firm to produce the questionable, anti-Trump document. However, Kramer’s attorneys have reportedly requested that the deposition be kept private.

FoxNews.com posed the following four questions to Kramer’s Florida attorney, Marcos Jimenez:

Fox News asked why Kramer took the Fifth; why he’s no longer cooperating with the committee; why they want to keep the BuzzFeed deposition under seal; and whether Kramer helped provide the document to BuzzFeed.

On January 10, CNN was first to report, based on leaked information, that the contents of the dossier were presented during classified briefings one week earlier to then-president Obama and president-elect Trump. Just after CNN’s January 10 report on the classified briefings about the dossier, BuzzFeed published its full unverified contents.

Last October, McCain denied providing the dossier to BuzzFeed and said that he only gave the material to the FBI. “I gave it to no one except for the director of the FBI. I don’t know why you’re digging this up now,” McCain told the Daily Caller during what the news website described as a testy exchange.

Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported that Kramer received a copy of the dossier directly from Fusion GPS after McCain expressed interest in the document. McCain then reportedly passed the dossier directly to FBI Director James Comey.

Those details marked the clearest indication yet that McCain may have known that the dossier originated with Fusion GPS, meaning that he may have knowingly passed on political material to the FBI.

Until now, it has not been clear whether McCain was aware of the origins of the dossier when he hand delivered the unsubstantiated document to Comey.

It is still not clear whether McCain knew that Fusion GPS’s anti-Trump work resulting in the dossier was funded by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) via the Perkins Coie law firm.

McCain has not responded to multiple Breitbart News requests seeking comment on the matter.

The details about McCain’s involvement were buried toward the end of a nearly 4,100-word February 6 Post article titled, “Hero or hired gun? How a British former spy became a flash point in the Russia investigation.”  The article was an extensive report describing the work done by Steele, who was contracted by Fusion GPS to produce the dossier. The Post article followed the release of a four-page House Intelligence Committee memo alleging abuse of surveillance authority allegedly utilizing the questionable dossier.

According to the Post, Steele originally sought out Sir Andrew Wood, a former British ambassador to Moscow and friend of Steele, for advice prior to the election concerning his alleged research into Trump.

In mid-November, following Trump’s victory, Wood reportedly turned to Steele to discuss whether additional steps were necessary to ensure the U.S. government was aware of Steele’s charges about Trump and Russia.

Wood said that he then reached out to Kramer, who was known for his close ties to McCain, according to the Post.

The Post cited Wood explaining that Kramer had arranged for Wood to meet McCain in December 2016 on the sidelines of a security conference in Canada. There, Wood described detailing Steele’s claims at the meeting with McCain, telling the Arizona senator that he could arrange for the politician to review the purported research.

“I told him, ‘I know there’s a document. I haven’t read it, but it seems to me that it’s reliably set up,’” Wood told the Post.

Wood described McCain as being “visibly shocked,” and expressing interest in reading the full report.

Ten days after the Canada meeting, Kramer met Steele at Heathrow Airport in London and then went to Steele’s home, where the McCain associate spent several hours reviewing the dossier claims, according to people familiar with the events who spoke to the Post.

The Post relates that Kramer then received a physical copy of the dossier directly from Fusion GPS Co-Founder Glenn R. Simpson:

Back in Washington, Kramer received a copy of the dossier from Simpson and completed the handoff to McCain. In a private meeting on Dec. 9, McCain gave Comey the dossier — passing along information that Steele had provided to the FBI earlier in the year.

Shortly before Inauguration Day, Comey briefed Trump on the document, alerting him to what the FBI director would later describe to Congress as a report that contained “salacious, unverified” information that was circulating in the media.

The Post’s reporting marks the first public description of McCain’s associate, Kramer, as having received the dossier directly from Fusion GPS.

In a New York Times oped last month, Simpson and fellow GPS Co-Founder Peter Fritch wrote that they helped McCain share their anti-Trump dossier with the Obama-era intelligence community via an unnamed “emissary.”

“After the election, Mr. Steele decided to share his intelligence with Senator John McCain via an emissary,” the Fusion GPS founders related. “We helped him do that. The goal was to alert the United States national security community to an attack on our country by a hostile foreign power.”

Simpson did not write that he directly handed the dossier to any “emissary.” It was not clear from the obscure phraseology in the Times oped whether McCain knew Fusion GPS was behind the dossier or whether the unnamed “emissary” was even aware of Fusion GPS’s connection to the document. The Post’s revelation about Kramer reportedly receiving the dossier from Simpson sheds new light on the topic.

A January 11, 2017 statement from McCain attempted to explain why he provided the Steele dossier to the FBI but did not mention how he came to possess the dossier or whether he knew who funded it.

“Upon examination of the contents, and unable to make a judgment about their accuracy, I delivered the information to the director of the FBI,” McCain said at the time. “That has been the extent of my contact with the FBI or any other government agency regarding this issue.”

Newsweek earlier reported that McCain directly Kramer to meet Steele:

Kramer was reportedly directed to meet with Steele in London by McCain, who then received copies of the Trump-Russia dossier and delivered them to the Arizona senator upon returning home. McCain then gave the dossier to the FBI in December 2016.

Also, Fox News, which saw the British court documents related to a civil lawsuit, reported that Steele testified that an arrangement was made whereby Fusion GPS would use Kramer to deliver hard copies of the dossier to McCain, who in turn gave the dossier to the FBI.

It is still unclear why McCain needed to deliver the dossier to Comey last December. By then, according to the House memo, the FBI had not only already launched an investigation into Trump’s campaign partially utilizing the dossier but Comey himself had two months earlier signed an application using the dossier to obtain a FISA warrant on Carter Page, who briefly served as a volunteer foreign policy adviser to Trump’s campaign.

Shortly after McCain gave Steele’s dossier to Comey, the FBI chief updated then President-Elect Trump and President Obama on the dossier in a classified briefing.

As Breitbart News documented, Comey’s dossier briefing to Trump was subsequently leaked to the news media, setting in motion a flurry of news media attention on the dossier, including the release of the document to the public. The briefing also may have provided the veneer of respectability to a document that had been circulating for months within the news media but widely considered too unverified to publicize.

Trump at CPAC: I Want to Arm Teachers Who Love and Will Protect Their Students

Trump at CPAC: I Want to Arm Teachers Who Love and Will Protect Their Students

President Trump told attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Friday that he would like to arm teachers who love and want to protect their students.

According to the Daily Mail, Trump said, “When we declare our schools to be gun-free zones it just puts our students in far more danger.” His statement comes just over a week after Nikolas Cruz carried a rifle into a gun-free zone and opened fire, killing 17.

Trump said, “Well-trained, gun-adept teachers and coaches and people who work in those buildings” should be allowed to carry guns to quickly end such attacks in the future.

Trump pledged during the 2016 presidential campaign to get rid of gun-free school zones. More than once, he indicated that teachers should be armed to shoot back at attackers and defend children’s lives.

On February 21, Trump began a steady push for armed teachers as part of his response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School attack. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) described the effort as “absolutely abhorrent.” According to the Hill, Blumenthal also described arming teachers as “an anathema.”

But Trump assured the CPAC audience that his push to arm teachers is based on teachers’ love for their students; because they love them, they will also protect them. Trump said, “[Teachers] love their students! They don’t want their students to be killed and to be hurt.” He described teachers as “patriots” who “could become schools’ first line of defense against crazed attackers.”

During his CPAC speech, Trump again mentioned a focus on background checks and mental illness, but he made no mention of raising the minimum purchase age for long rifles.

He did take time to point out that Democrats “will take your Second Amendment” if given control of Congress.
