Super. Three quarters of young Americans couldn’t join the military if they wanted to

With all that’s going on in this report from the Free Beacon, it’s amazing that our military is still hitting all of its recruiting goals. But somehow they are.

They don’t have all that many people to pick from, however. Just as the military is entering into a period of renewed expansion, there are fewer qualified candidates and even fewer expressing an interest. According to the Pentagon, if every person in the country age 18 to 24 showed up to apply, roughly three out of four would have to be turned away because they simply couldn’t qualify.

Nearly three-quarters of young Americans are ineligible to serve in the United States military due to obesity, criminal record, or lack of education, according to a new report by the Heritage Foundation.

The contracted pool of Americans aged 17 to 24 who are fit to enlist in the armed services poses an “alarming” threat to national security and risks derailing the Trump administration’s path to rebuilding a depleted military, the report found, citing Pentagon data.

The Pentagon estimates that 24 million of the 34 million Americans between 17 and 24 years old, or 71 percent, are unable to serve.

Health problems are the greatest obstacle to military service, with more than half of the young people who are ineligible for service suffering from a health issue.

This is particularly bad news at the moment because the Army is getting ready to recruit up to 80,000 new soldiers in the coming two years. The Navy isn’t quite as hard up, but they’re going to need 30,000 more sailors. All of this recruiting will be required to expand the service in line with the plans put in place by President Trump.

So what is disqualifying so many of them? For the majority, it’s health issues. Of those, more than half are too obese to be accepted. (The Army is saying they’ll take you if you’re “a little chubby” but if you’re seriously obese there won’t be time in basic training to whip you into shape.) Others are showing up with joint problems, respiratory ailments and related issues. Others failed to graduate high school or get an equivalent degree and are refused entry until they can meet the educational standards.

Other people hoping to enlist have criminal records. If it’s a couple of minor items you can sometimes get a waiver, but if you’ve run up any sort of serious criminal background they have to reject you. (As they should.) This is a big change from the bad old days of the Vietnam War when it was still not all that uncommon for a judge at sentencing to offer a defendant a choice of jail or boot camp.

The other problem the military is facing is a rather ironic one. Unemployment is nearing historic lows at the moment and that’s traditionally when fewer people turn to the military for a career. If better paying (and, frankly, less dangerous) jobs are plentiful, fewer young people are looking to the armed services as a better and more secure alternative to stocking shelves at Walmart. But with luck, enough of the truly dedicated and patriotic ones will keep their noses clean, work themselves into shape and volunteer to serve their nation.

2nd Amendment Win: Trump Unveils Brand New Plan to Combat School Shootings

During a Wednesday listening session at the White House with survivors of mass shootings, including the one last week in Parkland, Florida, President Trump threw his support behind a tentative plan which could lead to one out of every five teachers in U.S. classrooms being armed and trained to combat school shootings.

According to the Boston Globe, Trump made the statement in response to a participant who said that “schools are soft targets” and that “we need to harden the targets by … increasing our deterrence capabilities so that a potential murderer knows that that’s not going to happen; that there’s going to be people there ready to respond.”

The president responded that he supported concealed carry on school campuses, while noting that “this would only be, obviously, for people that are very adept at handling a gun.”

The teachers involved would “go for special training. And they would be there, and you would no longer have a gun-free zone. A gun-free zone to a maniac — because they’re all cowards — a gun-free zone is, let’s go in and let’s attack, because bullets aren’t coming back at us.

“And if you do this — and a lot of people are talking about it, and it’s certainly a point that we’ll discuss — but concealed carry for teachers and for people of talent — of that type of talent. So let’s say you had 20 percent of your teaching force, because that’s pretty much the number … If you had a teacher with — who was adept at firearms, they could very well end the attack very quickly.”

The president’s comments are a major win for Second Amendment supporters, many of whom expressed concern after Trump’s decision on Tuesday to direct the Department of Justice to ban bump stocks for rifles, even though bump stocks weren’t used in the Parkland shooting.

The president did add that “we’re going to be very strong on background checks. We’re going to be doing very strong background checks. Very strong emphasis on the mental health of somebody. And we are going to do plenty of other things.”

Do you think concealed carry on school campuses is a good idea?

On the mental health aspect, the president seemed to intimate that he would look into significant improvements when it came to the mental hospital system.

“You know, years ago, we had mental hospitals — mental institutions,” Trump said.

“We had a lot of them, and a lot of them have closed. They’ve closed. Some people thought it was a stigma. Some people thought, frankly, it was a — the legislators thought it was too expensive.

“Today, if you catch somebody, they don’t know what to do with them. He hasn’t committed the crime, but he may (not be) very well. And there’s no mental institution, there’s no place to bring them. And we have that a lot.”

RELATED: Downfall: “The View” Continues to Plummet… Invites Disgraced ESPN Journalist to Bash Trump

The president’s comments, to that end, seemed to reference several red flags raised about previous mass shooters in regard to their mental health. In the case of the Parkland shooter, tips to the FBI and more than 30 visits to the home of the shooter by police, many involving violence against his adopted mother, apparently didn’t worry officials enough to act.

There are plenty of things that need to be done in the wake of the Parkland shooting, of course. However, campus carry initiatives have been a long time in coming, particularly when you consider the fact that schools have been soft targets even almost 20 years after Columbine.

It’s time for that to change, and it looks like President Trump is heading in that direction.

Loesch Goes to CNN Anti-Gun Event.. Brutally Shuts Down Network for Not Covering the Truth

Conservative commentator and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch came prepared for CNN’s anti-gun event and brutally shut down the liberal network with facts on the NRA.

On Wednesday night, CNN held a town hall in Florida to push for gun control measures in the wake of the mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The town hall reportedly had 7,000 attendees and featured Florida Sens. Marco Rubio, Democrat Bill Nelson, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and Dana Loesch.

As noted by the International Business Times, Loesch took every single question she was asked by the students who survived the shooting despite the raucous crowd yelling and trying to scream her down the every time she defended the Second Amendment.

In one exchange, Loesch was asked by student Emma Gonzalez if she believes it should be more difficult for individuals to own semi-automatic weapons and bump stocks.

“I don’t believe that this insane monster should have ever been able to obtain a firearm, ever. … I do not think that he should have gotten his hands on any kind of weapon,” Loesch said.

She was referring to confessed gunman Nikolas Cruz, the clearly disturbed 19-year-old who killed 17 people at the Florida high school.

“This individual was nuts, and I — nor the millions of people that I represent as a part of this organization that I’m here speaking for — none of us support people who are crazy, who are a danger to themselves, who are a danger to others, getting their hands on a firearm,” Loesch continued.

She added: “How was he able to pass a background check? He was able to pass a background check because we have a system that’s flawed.”

Do you agree with Dana Loesch’s position on protecting the Second Amendment?

Amid the growing yelling over the slightest mention that the tragic shooting wasn’t the NRA’s fault, Loesch said states have largely failed to submit court convictions to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which has made it more difficult to ensure those that are mentally ill and/or violent individuals can’t gain access to firearms.

The yelling got so bad that Gonzalez had to ask the crowd to allow Loesch to answer her question so she could offer a rebuttal.

Loesch also reminded the boisterous crowd that the NRA has made it clear it supports the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and a ban on bump stocks.

Check out the exchange below, where Loesch handled herself very well and scorched CNN for not reporting that the NRA supports important gun safety measures:

RELATED: CNN’s Scripted Anti-Gun Debate Goes Off the Rails After Student Calls Out “Bloody Politicians”

Not only did Loesch hold her composure while in hostile territory, she slammed CNN for failing to accurately cover the NRA’s positions on supporting a ban on bump stocks and finding a solution to prevent individuals with a mental illness from legally purchasing a firearm.

The leftist network refuses to make that clear to its audience, as they are determined to exploit the tragic shooting and use the students as pawns to push for gun control measures.

Loesch stood her ground and made it clear the NRA has supported measures to make it more difficult for a psycho to legally purchase a firearm.

CNN Under Siege: Florida Shooting Survivor Calls Out Disgraced Network for Scripted Questions

A survivor of last week’s mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, suggested in a stunning interview Wednesday that the gun control-themed town hall event CNN hosted that evening between survivors of the shooting and various political figures was totally scripted.

Speaking with Fort Lauderdale station WPLG, survivor Colton Haab explained that though “CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions,” the network never intended to let him actually ask those questions.

As a result, Haab opted to not attend the event.

“Colton wrote questions about school safety, suggested using veterans as armed school security guards, but claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead. So he decided not to go,” WPLG explained.

Conservative Tribune Daily Email

“I don’t think that it’s going to get anything accomplished. It’s not going to ask the true questions that all the parents and teachers and students have,” Haab added.

Titled “Stand Up: The Students of Stoneman Douglas Demand Action,” the CNN-hosted event wound up being what renowned conservative commentator Ben Shapiro described as a “special One Hour Hate” fest.

From deriding National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch as a bad mother and “murderer” to demonizing the NRA, the event was a completely one-sided affair that did indeed seem scripted.

Just to be clear, though, CNN has denied Haab’s allegation with a statement published via Twitter.

“There is absolutely no truth in this,” the network claimed. “CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night’s town hall, nor have we ever.”

Should we believe the network? Many would resoundingly argue “no,” as CNN has repeatedly proven itself incapable of telling the truth. In fact, even the network’s defensive contains a glaring lie.

We know for a fact that during the last presidential election, then-CNN contributor Donna Brazille fed town hall questions to then-Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton prior to a CNN-hosted town hall.

Similarly, CNN likewise only recently accused Sen. Ted Cruz for being too afraid to appear on the network for an interview. But then after the senator did in fact speak with its contributors, CNN chose to pretend like the interview never even happened.

Add the many, many, many examples together, and it becomes clear why “CNN has long ago forfeited any right to” the benefit of the doubt, as noted by RedState contributor “Streiff.” CNN is, after all, “very fake news.”

As for Haab, on the other hand, he’s a great, great, kid, not to mention a hero. And truth be told, he’s too good for CNN anyway.

Please share this story on Facebook and Twitter and let us know what you think about Colton Haab’s accusation against CNN.

Billy Graham’s Response to His Biggest Surprise in Life Holds True in the Hearts of Every Christian

Iconic evangelist Billy Graham passed from this world and into the next on Feb. 21, 2018. His passing has inspired thousands to share their favorite memories of Graham’s thoughts, remarks and sayings.

One of the very best is the beloved reverend’s response to what he considered to be the biggest surprise in life — he was utterly floored by how short life is.

“There may not be a tomorrow for you,” he said lovingly, but bluntly.

Grahams’ remarks were made in 1982 at the Southern Seminary Chapel, according to a video shared by the Southern Seminary’s Twitter account, but they hold perhaps even more meaning today than they did then.

“If someone had told me when I was 20 years old that life was very short and that it would past just like ‘that,’ I wouldn’t have believed it,” he said. “And if I don’t tell you that, you don’t believe it either.”

“I cannot get young people to understand how brief life is — how quickly it passes! It seems like yesterday I was in school,” he recalled.

“The fact that time is short calls for something now,” he insisted.

Did Billy Graham have an effect on your life?

We have to be men and women of action to further Christ’s kingdom, he said.

“The things we ought to do, the classes we ought to take, the books we ought to read — do it now!” he urged.

“The family that needs you, spend more time with them now! Write that letter home now!… The money you ought to give, give now!… The people you ought to witness to, do it now!”

“There may not be a tomorrow for you and for me,” he said, and then nailed his point home:

RELATED: Man Goes Viral After “Destroying” AR-15, But Gun Expert Notices Something

“Time is too short for indecision.”

He may have delivered the message nearly four decades ago, but he was already finishing off his early sixties.

That man went on to touch untold lives through his loving-kindness and passion for Jesus.

You are welcome to believe whatever you want, but I tell you — this really is a powerful testament to the fact that the Lord rewards people of God who live each day for Him as though it was his or her last.

Let’s see if we can emulate a little bit of Graham’s love for Christ today.

Downfall: “The View” Continues to Plummet…Invites Disgraced ESPN Journalist to Bash Trump

I’ve always personally felt that the title of ABC’s gabfest “The View” was missing something. I’m not personally opposed to calling it “The View,” per se. I just think the three words “… from the left” ought to be appended to it.

Every morning at roughly 11 a.m. (or thereabouts, depending on your local affiliate), the American Broadcasting Company airs what amounts to a paid political advertisement for the Democrat Party, in which a gaggle of female liberal celebrities vigorously lambaste anything and everything to the right of Hillary Clinton’s campaign platform, along with the token conservative allowed to be in their midst. (That “conservative” is currently Meghan McCain, proof positive that actual conservatives were a bit much for their taste.)

The show has come under fire in recent weeks, particularly after Joy Behar essentially called praying Christians — or at least Christians who pray like Mike Pence — mentally ill. Now, the show is back in the spotlight after an appearance by Jemele Hill, the ESPN journalist who called Donald Trump a white supremacist and was later disgraced with a suspension due to a tweet urging the boycott of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Five months after she tweeted that “Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists,” she appeared on the liberal talk show where she defended her statement against what amounted to cursory opposition (it might be better to simply call it curiosity) from the aforementioned Ms. McCain.

Conservative Tribune Daily Email

“I still stand by what I said,” Hill told McCain when asked whether she was still willing to stand by her statement, according to The Daily Beast.

She added that “I don’t think that his supporters are white supremacists.” They do, however, suffer from something just as bad: the dreaded disease privilegeitis whiteus.

Do you think Jemele Hill should have been fired for her remarks on President Trump?

“What I would say, though, is that they have the benefit and privilege to be able to distance and disassociate themselves from certain issues,” Hill said.

“Me, as a woman of color, I feel vulnerable to certain behaviors, certain policies, certain things that he’s said and done. And so all of that was part of that response, feeling that vulnerability. If it doesn’t impact you directly or if you don’t feel that, it’s probably harder for you to understand it.”

Hilariously, Hill didn’t think calling the president a white supremacist surrounded by white supremacists — and not being particularly eager to clarify at the time that she didn’t think it applied to his “privileged” supporters — would amount to much.

“I did not expect in that moment that it was going to become what it became,” Hill said.

RELATED: 2nd Amendment Win: Trump Unveils Brand New Plan to Combat School Shootings

Really, now.

Let’s be clear here: white supremacist is a rhetorical hand grenade that isn’t to be tossed around lightly. It is someone who literally believes in a master race, believes it is white and, in an American context, is usually willing to use violent means to defend it and to target members of other races.

A white supremacist is not, I repeat, is not someone you believe to be insufficiently supportive of causes and positions that you associate with people of color. It is not someone who doesn’t ascribe to postcolonialist dogma. It isn’t someone who didn’t like President Obama, or who thinks that the Black Lives Matter movement has been prone to excess, or who supports their local police, or who thinks that illegal immigration is, well, illegal and ought to be punished as such.

None of these things are white supremacist. None of these things have ever been white supremacist. Labeling them as such does not, alas, change that salient fact. If Hill has information that the president is himself or is surrounding himself with “American History X” types, she as a journalist has the obligation to come forward with this information for the good of the country. Until that time, it’s fair to say her statement is objectively false.

As for her thoughts that white people who support Donald Trump are privileged and just don’t get it, I would propose that it might be the other way around.

Let’s not forget that Hill has gone further than simply calling Trump’s supporters privileged. In an appearance on Al Sharpton’s MSNBC show, Hill compared the president’s State of the Union speech to “racial pornography,” ostensibly painting them as mindless, lustful consumers of bigotry.

Hill has ensconced herself deep within the insulating bubble of the political media — which ESPN, a former sports network, is now a member in good standing of. These are the people who thought Donald Trump could never win and then failed to understand the reasons why, simply labeling it either bigotry or a hitherto unknown darkness of the heart that had affected Americans.

The idea that blue-collar, middle-income Americans, who often have their acceptable range of opinions dictated to them by the American media, are privileged beyond opinion-makers like Hill simply because of the color of their skin would be funny were it not so pernicious.

Her clarifying statements on those individuals since the tweet — that anyone who voted for or supports the president is a vicious automaton, blinded by their privilege and nourished on “racial pornography” — are reprehensible. The fact that she wasn’t given anything resembling a grilling on them by the women of “The View” is equally sickening.

But hey, it’s all good to call Christians mentally ill. Right, Joy Behar?

Please like and share on Facebook and Twitter if you agree this is another low for “The View.”

Sheriff’s Deputy Resigns to Avoid Suspension After Failing to Engage Florida School Gunman

Sheriff’s Deputy Resigns to Avoid Suspension After Failing to Engage Florida School Gunman

The sheriff’s deputy who was on duty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School but failed to go in and confront the gunman has resigned to avoid being suspended.

On February 22 the AP tweeted:

ABC 13 reports that Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel confirmed the deputy, Scott Peterson, was no longer with the Sheriff’s department.

Israel said he viewed video of the incident, saw Peterson “arrive at the west side of Building 12, take a position” but never go in. As a result, the sheriff’s office moved to suspend Peterson, who resigned before the suspension could take place.

School Shooting Survivor Says He Was Given Scripted Questions for CNN Town Hall

As could have been expected the big CNN town hall featuring survivors of the mass shooting at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was a rousing success in terms of propaganda.

From the moment that it was announced that the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news” would be featuring students who survived that killing spree of a deranged individual, teachers, and parents it was clear that the event would be a one-sided chance for anti-gun activists to draw a national TV audience by exploiting kids to do so.

CNN is something that has never been seen in the domestic media and is more in line with state-run television in an authoritarian country like North Korea or out of a dystopian George Orwell novel. So intense is the propaganda, so prevalent the lies and so despicable the anchors that it wouldn’t be a reach to say that it is decidedly un-American.

But millions of people still believe what they are seeing from a network that established its brand in the 1980s and no longer resembles that network, not even remotely.

While he will be smeared or ignored by the rest of the media echo chamber today, one survivor of the Parkland massacre went to local media with his not so shocking revelation that instead of his own material which he had prepared for the show that CNN had given him scripted questions to ask.

Via Real Clear Politics “Shooting Survivor: CNN Gave Me “Scripted Question” After Denying Question About Armed Guards”:

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night’s town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a “scripted question,” quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards.

“CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted,” Haab told WPLG-TV.

CNN aired a town hall on the Florida school shooting with Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) that included NRA’s Dana Loesch and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel that was moderated by Jake Tapper. Students and parents asked questions about gun control and school safety.

“I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions,” Haab said.

“Colton Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC who shielded classmates in the midst of terror says he did not get to share his experience,” WPLG’s Janine Stanwood explained.

“Colton wrote questions about school safety, suggested using veterans as armed school security guards but claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead so he decided not to go,” Stanwood reported.

Haab was one of the heroes of that day so his story should be taken seriously. CNN itself was promoting him along with the others but unlike the students who advance the agenda, he was left out.

UPDATE: CNN released the following statement Thursday morning:

CNN did not, and does not, script any questions for town hall meetings, ever.

Haab was one of the heroes of that day so his story should be taken seriously.

CNN itself was promoting him along with the others but unlike the students who advance the agenda, he was left out because he refused to participate in what was nothing more than a psyops campaign to use children as the spearhead for the ultimate disarmament of law-abiding Americans.

It was a farce but what else can be expected from CNN?

School deputy was just fired over what he did during the Florida shooting, and it’s terrible

A deputy admitted that he didn’t enter the Florida school during the time that Nikolas Cruz was murdering 17 people, and he was suspended without pay pending an investigation.

Here’s what he did

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said Thursday that the school resource deputy, Scot Peterson, resigned after the action was taken against him.

Cruz’s attack on his fellow students lasted about four minutes, and the deputy didn’t do anything to stop him during that time.

Sheriff Israel said that the deputy was interviewed about his lack of action, and that video surveillance was taken into account when he made the decision to suspend him.

Peterson was on campus, responded to the shooting, but never went inside to accost the shooter, and instead took up a position outside.

Sheriff Israel said that the deputy should have “went in, addressed the killer, killed the killer.”

“He was armed,” Israel said, “he was in uniform, after seeing video, witness statements, and Scot Peterson’s very own statement, I decided, this morning, to suspend Scot Peterson without pay, pending an internal investigation.”

“As is his right, Scot Peterson chose to resign,” he continued, “because he has the necessary time with the agency and meets the requirements of retirement, he resigned and slash retired.”

“The investigation will continue,” he explained. “We’re not going to disclose the video at this time, and we may never disclose the video depending on the prosecution and the criminal case.”

“But what I saw was, a deputy arrive at the west side of building 12, take up a position, and he never went in,” he concluded.

Shooting Survivor Quit CNN Town Hall After Refusing to Ask ‘Scripted’ Question

Shooting Survivor Quit CNN Town Hall After Refusing to Ask ‘Scripted’ Question

Colton Haab, a student who survived last week’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, refused to participate in a CNN Town Hall on Wednesday night after he was told to ask a “scripted” question.

Haab, a junior at the high school, told Fort Lauderdale ABC affiliate WPLG that CNN invited him to speak at the televised town hall in nearby Sunrise, Florida, and that he and his parents had dressed up for the occasion.

But CNN then told Haab he would have to read a question that CNN had prepared for him:

Haab: I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions.

Reporter Janine Stanwood: But Colton Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC, who shielded classmates in the midst of terror, says he did not get to share his experience.

Haab: CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions, and it ended up being all scripted.

Stanwood: Colton wrote questions about school safety, suggested using veterans as armed school security guards, but claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead. So he decided not to go.

Haab: I don’t think that it’s going to get anything accomplished. It’s not going to ask the true questions that all the parents and teachers and students have.

The town hall was overwhelmingly stacked in favor of gun control. Two students whom CNN chose to ask questions attacked National Rifle Association spokesperson Dana Loesch as a bad mother. CNN’s Jake Tapper, who moderated the event, did not defend Loesch.
