During a discussion Thursday evening about Macy’s recent decision to launch a Muslim-centric clothing line featuring hijabs, Fox News host Tucker Carlson grilled a feminist guest over her belief that hijabs and other modest items of apparel are somehow “empowering” to women.

“The point of Islamic clothing is to promote modesty among women … it’s a central part of Islamic culture. So are you for that? Do you think women should be coerced to dress modestly? Is that a feminist goal?” Carlson asked point-blank.

His guest, feminist Sonia Ossorio of the National Organization for Women, tried to deflect by arguing women should be permitted the right to wear anything they desire, according to the Independent Journal Review.

“I think what a feminist goal is is for women to be in control of their lives and their destinies and to have choices, so whether a woman wants to wear a hijab or she doesn’t is really not the point,” she replied.

Just to be clear, women in the United States already enjoy this right — as well as many others — because Americans believe in “liberty and justice for all.” Moreover, no reasonable conservative opposes Macy’s decision to sell hijabs.

What concerns conservatives such as Carlson is the lack of women’s rights in Islamic countries, where for the record women must dress modestly lest they be raped, imprisoned or even stoned to death.

But even more appalling is how Western feminists such as Ossorio have gleefully adopted hijabs “as a symbol of resistance.”

“Here you have in the United States, women who had never donned a hijab in their entire life, and marched over to JFK airport at the time of the Trump travel ban and started wearing hijabs as a symbol of resistance, in protest to that, and at the same time, so they’re wearing them as a symbol of empowerment,” Ossorio explained.

In rebuttal, Carlson asked whether it would be equally “empowering” were Macy’s to sell a line of “Chinese foot-binding shoes” like those forced upon young Chinese girls up until the early 20th century.

“Is there anything that’s not empowering?” he added.

How about female genital mutilation? Is there anything empowering about that, Carlson asked.

Again, there’s nothing wrong with women wearing hijabs of their own volition. It’s just odd to see spoiled and entitled Western feminists donning hijabs as symbols of “resistance,” all while they ignore the genuine hell being experienced by their counterparts in the Islamic world.

Counterparts such as the Iranian woman in the video below “who threw off her veil in front of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and stood defiantly as freedom fighters massed around her,” as reported by The Daily Wire in December:

Instead of highlighting this woman’s struggle (FYI, she was later arrested for this stunt) feminists were busy “gearing up for a repeat of last year’s ‘Women’s March’” against President Donald Trump — a man whom countless American women helped elect into office in 2016.

Yet feminists like Ossorio find it hard to understand why so few people take them seriously anymore. Gee, what could it possible be!?

In what could be a sign of an impending shakeup at the Justice Department, the number three official has announced her resignation for a corporate job at Walmart.

On Friday it was reported that Rachel Brand who was next in line behind slippery Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein – the man who unleashed dirty cop “Bob” Mueller on Trump – is leaving to accept her “dream job” at the global retail goliath’s corporate HQ where she will become the top legal official.

Ms. Brand has only been on the job since last May and some of the Never Trumpers are already panicking that her departure may be a signal that Mueller and his hit team may be on borrowed time.

Like William Kristol, a venomous pit viper who was the co-founder of the infamous neocon think tank The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and now at the Russian conspiracy mill The Alliance for Securing Democracy.

It’s unusual for serious and capable people to leave a senior government position after 9 months. Rachel Brand is a serious and capable person. She surely found working in the Trump DOJ trying. But the question is whether she knew or expected something worse to be coming.

The New York Times broke the news of Brand’s new gig in the story “No. 3 Official at the Justice Department Is Stepping Down”:

Rachel L. Brand, the No. 3 official at the Justice Department, plans to step down after nine months on the job as the country’s top law enforcement agency has been under attack by President Trump, according to two people briefed on her decision.

Ms. Brand’s profile had risen in part because she is next in the line of succession behind the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, who is overseeing the special counsel’s inquiry into Russian influence in the 2016 election. Mr. Trump, who has called the investigation a witch hunt, has considered firing Mr. Rosenstein.

Such a move could have put her in charge of the special counsel and, by extension, left her in the cross hairs of the president.

Ms. Brand, who became the associate attorney general in May, will become the global governance director at Walmart, the company’s top legal position, according to people briefed on her move. She has held politically appointed positions in the past three presidential administrations.

In her current job, she reports directly to Mr. Rosenstein and Jeff Sessions, the attorney general, who has recused himself from the Russia investigation.

It is entirely possible that Brand really is just moving onto to a better paying corporate gig but if you can read the tea leaves it is possible that she is getting the hell out of Dodge before the shit hits the fan.

The massive and likely incendiary DOJ Inspector General’s report is set to be out in March and could lead to a thorough housecleaning at both the Justice Department and the FBI.

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was mocked and scorned over his suggestion that illegal aliens “self-deport” but he may have really been onto something.

In a pity play of the sort that the media just eats up, some DREAMers are threatening to leave the United States if the Democrats aren’t able to extort the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress to grant them and millions of other illegal aliens amnesty through extending DACA.

The Democrats are gambling that their liberal flunkies in the press will be able to put enough of a guilt trip on all of the Americans who live here legally to manufacture consent for blanket amnesty without any meaningful concessions on immigration policies and border security.

Via the Daily Wire “DREAMers Threaten To Leave The Country If Congress Doesn’t Reach A DACA Deal”:

A group of DREAMers, young illegal immigrants fighting to stay in the country following the Trump Administration’s refusal to extend the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order, say they’ll leave the country if a deal isn’t reached . . . err . . . to keep them in the country.

Speaking to CNN, one of these DREAMers, Alex Velez, said, “I will leave. I will leave America as soon as possible,” claiming that she would prefer to depart the country on her own terms than wait for the United States to collect and deport her.

The theory appears to be that, if DREAMers suddenly disappear, Americans will notice their absence. Velez and her sister claim they own businesses, pay tuition, and hold jobs, and that America has a duty to keep them here in order to maintain their contributions.

CNN which gave the Velez’s a forum provides additional details:

Should Alex, who is 19, find herself unprotected, she said she is clear on what her plan will be. “I will leave. I will leave America as soon as possible,” she said. “I want to be able to leave on my terms. I’m not going to be waiting for anyone to come for me.”

The tradeoffs will be significant: Alex will be abandoning the $10,000 in tuition she’s paid and the two years’ worth of community college credits she’s built up in her pursuit to become a veterinary technician. She will also have to quit her job at clothing store Forever 21, where she was just promoted to a merchandising position four weeks ago.

And she will leave behind friends she has known since middle and high school, invaluable relationships that she says have shaped her life.

“In all honesty, it is scary to think about leaving,” she said. “My mom cried for the first time since we talked about our situation. She’s a positive person and is hoping that something good will happen for us.”

Alex and Daniela came to the U.S. from Venezuela with their parents when they were four and nine years old, respectively.

“When Hugo Chavez became president in the late 1990s, things started to change and become difficult for the middle class,” said Daniela.

Their father wanted the family to escape the situation. The family arrived in the U.S. on visitor visas and then overstayed. They settled into a one-bedroom apartment in Burlington, New Jersey, where they still live today. Alex and Daniella share a pullout sofa bed.

“I only realized I was undocumented when I was in middle school,” said Alex. It happened when the DACA program was enacted in 2012 and Daniela was old enough to apply. “Most of my school friends still don’t know about my situation,” she said.

Is it insensitive to say hasta la vista babies?

The Velez sisters may not find Venezuela to be as hospitable considering that the country is bordering on anarchy, starving people have resorted to eating zoo animals and residents are fleeing the country faster than sensible Americans are getting out of San Francisco but hey, illegal is illegal.

These will the type of stories that you can expect to see more of as the propaganda blitz to save the DREAMers really begins to pick up steam before DACA nears muerte in March.

The Mittster wasn’t right about much but that self-deportation thing seems to be a win-win situation for everyone involved as well as an end to this nonsense.

When democrats aren’t hypocricizing they be conflating. Senator Chris Murphy, one of the biggest BSers in Congress, tried to show that Vice President Mike Pence is a giant hypocrite by comparing him to Colin Kaepernick. More specifically he tried and failed to make this point by comparing Pence’s refusal to stand for North Korea with Kaepernick’s disrespect of our country by taking a knee during the National Anthem.

Mike Pence was representing the US at the Olympic opening ceremony on Friday. When the combined North and South Korean team walked into the stadium both Pence and the Japanese Prime Minister refused to stand or applaud. Because American liberals love North Korea’s brutal dictator Kim Jong Un, there was considerable outrage on the left.

Here’s what Murphy had to say on the subject:

Do you get what this Connecticut democrat is trying to say here? It’s his position that Pence refusing to honor the communist regime of North Korea is the exact same thing as Kaepernick and other black football players extending a giant middle finger to the United States of America. To be clear, these are not the same things.

Mike Pence is not the VP of North Korea. They are our enemy and huge threat to peace worldwide. By refusing to stand in honor for North Korea, Pence was not disrespecting the US in any way.

Colin Kaepernick is a citizen of the United States. He has benefitted greatly from the freedom this country has given and the sacrifice of our soldiers to preserve that freedom. By kneeling during the Nation Anthem he is disrespecting the country that gave him everything and the people who died so he can be free to act like an asshole.

See the difference?

This Chris Murphy tweet actually has addition levels of horribleness to it. He is genuinely angry that a representative of the United States was showing disrespect to a brutal regime that kills it’s own people and threatens us with annihilation. Where have I seen that before? Oh, yeah, that’s a little thing we like to call treason here in the good ole US of A.

Murphy is also acknowledging that he prefers Kim Jong Un to the freely-elected President and Vice President of his own country. You know, that place where he is also an elected representative?

Folks, this is what it means to be part of the Resistance. These liberal kooks have so much blind hatred for the person America chose to be its leader that they are not only siding with a communist dictator, they are actually in love with this madman.

I say these whiny babies should take their temper tantrum and move to North Korea. If Trump is so bad and Kim Jong Un so awesome, go there and live the dream of communist oppression.

And while we are on the subject of sitting and refusing to applaud, remember last week during President Trump’s State of the Union address? Democrats sat on their hands and scowled at America’s greatness. In other words, they actually hate this country, but love North Korea.
