First Lady Melania Trump Visits Children at Alaskan Military Base on Veterans Day

First lady Melania Trump stopped at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska to visit children in a pre-school during a refueling stop on her trip back to Washington, D.C. on Friday.

The Alaska Dispatch News reported:

A security-screened crowd packed into Arctic Oasis Community Center, which serves the base as a family gym, indoor playground, hair salon, arcade and more. Trump arrived with a traveling team that included step son-in-law Jared Kushner on an Air Force jet from Beijing on their way back to Washington, D.C., after touring Asia with President Donald Trump.

The first lady spent less than an hour at a preplanned event to celebrate families of active-duty members that included arts and crafts, stories and games. It occurred on the observed holiday for Veterans Day, which falls on Saturday this year.

People held their phones over their heads and crushed up against barricades to document the moment. Some were trying for good shots of their children, handpicked to show the first lady activities including making rainbows in jars and creating decorative fish from plastic jewels, CDs and glitter.

The first lady’s visit was to highlight educational opportunities at the base in preschool, child care, and after-school programs.

“And to literally honor our military families,” Tammy De Benedetto, head of JBER child and youth services, said.

Air Force Master Sgt. David Jennings brought his wife, Lindsay, and their two daughters, Abigail and Annabelle, to see Trump, the Associated Press reported.

“A great family memory here,” Jennings said.

“What a genuine lady,” De Benedetto said. “Very humble.”

“With every child, with every student, with every staff – she interacted,” De Benedetto said. “Just a wonderful lady.”

The base is home to 14,000 soldiers, airmen, and civilian contractors and 15,000 family members.

ESPN to Lay Off 100 After Thanksgiving, Could Cuts Include Jemele Hill?

About 100 employees of sports/liberal political network ESPN can expect to find pink slips in their Christmas stockings this year.

The network continues to lose subscribers in droves thanks to a departure from being primarily about sports coverage and the broadcasting of games into radical racial and leftist politics.

It makes little sense from a business standpoint to alienate a considerable chunk of the audience due to on-air personalities using their positions to preach politics.

The ongoing string of controversies that have plagued the network were never more apparent than when an African-American host of SportsCenter created a firestorm by using her Twitter account to accuse President Trump of being a white supremacist.

She managed to avoid disciplinary action for violating social media policy and only weeks later, took to Twitter again to blast Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and call for a boycott of the team.

That earned her a two week suspension. Could a more permanent solution to the problem be in the offing?

Via Sports Illustrated “ESPN layoffs: 100-plus staffers, on-air talent cuts near”:

ESPN will lay off more than 100 staffers after the Thanksgiving holidays, multiple sources tell Sports Illustrated. The layoffs, which were described by a person briefed on the plans, will hit positions across ESPN including front-facing talent on the television side, producers, executives, and digital and technology staffers. The SportsCenter franchise is expected to be hit hard—including on-air people—given the frequency of the show has lessened considerably on main network ESPN.

The network declined comment to SI on Thursday afternoon.

It remains to be seen as to whether Ms. Hill and her fellow SJW travelers will be cut loose but doing so would kill two birds with one stone.

As the NFL is now learning, sports and racial grievance politics are a bad mix, the same is true at ESPN and a layoff provides a perfect opportunity for a holiday housecleaning.

REPORT: Hero Dad Uses Gun To Stop Multiple Armed Assailants From Kidnapping Daughter, Robbing Home

Police in Florida arrested four teens on Tuesday who had allegedly attempted to kidnap and rob a local family but had their plans ruined when the father of the family opened fire on them.

“The 51-year old homeowner says his 17-year old daughter had called him to tell him that someone had blocked the road to their house with barrels,” the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

A short time after receiving the phone call, the father heard his dogs barking and saw his security lights turn on outside, at which point he went and grabbed his gun.

He opened fire on the teens when he noticed they were trying to break into his garage.

A neighbor who heard the gunfire noticed a vehicle she didn’t recognize parked near her house and called the police to give a description of the suspicious vehicle. Police later caught up with the teens as they drove off and made a felony traffic stop.

“The OCSO investigation revealed the teens had concocted a plan to kidnap the teenage daughter,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a statement. “The goal was to first force her out of her car by blocking the road with barrels and garbage cans. (However their intended victim drove around the barrels and kept going.) They then planned to head to her house, confront and subdue her father – who they believed to be wealthy – and rob the home.”

Police arrested and charged Keilon Johnson, 19, Austin French, 17, Tyree Johnson, 16, and Kamauri Horn, 15, with attempted kidnapping and attempted home invasion robbery.

Leftists Upset That Dating Has Changed. Guess Who’s To Blame.

Mashable used to be a place I liked going to for quirky YouTube videos that made me smile, or trending topics on social media, and occasionally opinions on a new blockbuster movie or tech release. But, like many things that went downhill in 2016, Mashable soon became an anti-GOP, anti-Trump, blithering whiny place of leftists.

So, for months I have stayed away. This morning I found myself perusing their pages and came upon a hidden gem of a piece that made me chuckle in my coffee: “Trump has changed dating forever. Ugh.”

Writer Cassie Murdoch writes: “Trump’s chaotic reign has forced us all to think about politics morning and night …” She claims there was no escape even when trying to find someone with whom to binge watch television.

Where was she during the Obama administration when they were targeting nuns, Tea Party groups and refusing to assist homeschool families fleeing persecution? Also, if we’re talking binge watching TV being affected by politics, she’s obviously oblivious to the subliminal and even blatant political notes from Hollywood that conservatives have been dealing with for YEARS. The latest episode of This is Us featured at least 4 “Obama/Biden” signs, magnets and pins in the first 60 seconds. Let alone the garbage Shonda Rhimes has been writing into her shows for the last decade.

Further proving that the author has never encountered a real conservative, she continues that how you view Trump will solely depend on your party affiliation. This is obviously not true. She should listen to Ben Shapiro’s podcast sometime.

The author does break into some recent data that is rather fascinating, though. There seems to be a growth of interest regarding the intersection of politics and dating. As someone who takes Jesus’ “don’t be unequally yoked” motto very seriously (and tells her single friends to apply this to dating someone of their own political affiliation and core beliefs), I can see the appeal of wanting to know someone’s political stance before going on that potentially awkward first date.

Women will receive 23% “more requests” when they mention Donald J. Trump “in any context” in their profiles and men see 8% more messages from women when they mention politics. This data came from a recent eHarmony study of their constituents.

The Mashable author notes:

This isn’t totally representative of the dating world at large, since eHarmony’s users lean slightly to the conservative side of the spectrum. But there’s plenty of evidence that vocally liberal ladies are getting noticed too on sites like OKCupid.

Murdoch continues:

It seems the uncertainty brought on by the election and Trump’s time in office have increased people’s desire for companionship, Gotta find someone to hang out with in your nuclear bunker.

There goes that nuclear line again. And, let’s be honest folks, liberals don’t prep for Armageddon; conservative Americans do.

Yes, it’s easy to explain why mass shootings are happening so often, but most don’t want to hear it

Yes, it's easy to explain why mass shootings are happening so often, but most don't want to hear it
God is the source of all goodness. You can refuse to believe that if you want. That doesn’t make it any less true.

God is also the source of all understanding of right and wrong, and contrary to some who inexplicably insist we can’t really know the mind of God, He has revealed to us in His Word exactly what He needs us to understand.

How many more elections will the Democrats be allowed to steal?

How many more elections will the Democrats be allowed to steal?
Last week, the Nevada Secretary of State, Republican Barbara Cegavsky, announced that she had cleaned the state voting rolls as “routine maintenance” for the month of October. This routine maintenance removed 36,090 actively registered voters from the voting rolls and of this total, 17,616 were actively registered Democrats voters.  These may not seem like large numbers, however, the state of Nevada is not a densely populated state and only two counties in the state drive our representation: Clark County (Las Vegas) and Washoe County (Carson City) where many districts can be decided by a handful of votes.  President Donald Trump only lost Nevada by 27,000 votes and many of our incumbent Republican legislators lost by less than 1,000 votes.

Wind Energy Issues

Wind Energy Issues

The drumbeat for a fossil fuel free energy utopia continues. But few have pondered how we will supposedly generate 25 billion megawatts of total current global electricity demand using just renewable energy,  wind turbines, for instance. For starters, we’re talking about some 830 million gigantic 500 foot tall turbines requiring a land area of some 12.5 billion acres. That’s more than twice the size of North America, all the way through Central America reports Paul Driessen. 1

‘USA Today’ Claims ‘Chainsaw Bayonets’ Are Widely Available for Your AR-15

In a tweet that expertly demonstrated why the media’s credibility was in the toilet, the gun-phobic USA Today claimed on Wednesday that an optional attachment for the Texas mass shooter’s Ruger AR-556 was a “chainsaw bayonet.” And while the internet processed to mock them mercilessly, they were 100 percent serious and stood by their ridiculous claim of “chainsaw bayonets” being widely available for gun owners.

In a tweet that read “A look at the gun used in the Texas church shooting,” the paper posted a video saying it was “What we know about the Ruger AR-556.” The video was primarily about stirring up fear for all the scary attachments that were available for the rifle and others like it, a liberal staple following a mass shooting.

Some of the attachments they noted for what they dubbed as the “base model” included a buttstock, rear and front sights, the handguard, and … the TRIGGER. From there they delved into the more exotic options, reporting that “AR-15 style rifles have many aftermarket options – some common, some rare.” Those attachments included a 100 drum magazine, an underbarrel 12-gauge shotgun, a six-position telescoping buttstock, and the mystical “chainsaw bayonet.”

But where would USA Today get the idea that such an attachment was widely available and widely used? Trying to find such a device on the internet leads to results largely made up of the popular video game series Gears of War, where the super-muscular heroes use rifles with chainsaws to slay subterranean terrors. There were also plenty of DIY projects for such devices and there was a small company that claimed to sell them, but they’re marketed as a way to kill zombies.

The internet was the internet it and didn’t hold back as the paper was put through the wringer on twitter. #ChainsawBayonet was trending with image after image from people who photoshopping other ridiculous attachments onto USA Today’s AR-15 image. Such attachments included a lightsaber, a taco, a little corgi, (my personal favorite) 10 smaller AR-15s, and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Proving that the criticism went completely over their head, USA Today put out a second tweet to clarify their first one, saying: “To clarify, the video shows both the shooter’s modifications, as well as other possible modifications. The shooter did not use a chainsaw bayonet.”

<<< Please support MRC’s NewsBusters team with a tax-deductible contribution today. >>>

There really was no reason for them to “clarify” that the shooter did not use a “chainsaw bayonet,” because their video actually reviewed what horrific attachments the shooter had on his rifle. Those attachments included an aftermarket sight, a flashlight, and a 2-point suspension sling, among others.

USA Today’s fear-mongering about the widely popular AR-15 (and other guns like it) preys on those who don’t spend time around guns and don’t understand the purpose of some of the attachments. It breeds a misunderstanding about the firearms, those who own them, and the safety benefits provided by some of the attachments. That fear-mongering and misunderstanding were why we had states that banned adjustable stocks, detachable magazines, muzzle breaks, and suppressors.

Nurses Testify on Being Forced to Do Abortions: ‘I Still Have Nightmares’

While many in the liberal media herald abortion as “women’s rights,” they censor how abortion endangers women’s rights in the medical profession — women who are forced to either help perform abortion or risk losing their jobs.

On Wednesday, pro-life leaders and lawmakers attended a Capitol Hill press conference in support of the Conscience Protection Act of 2017. The bill protects the conscience of those in federally-funded healthcare systems who object to performing or participating in abortion. Nurses, whom the legislation would affect, testified at the event.

Sponsored by Rep. Diane Black (R-TN), the bill would would allow healthcare professionals to pursue legal action if they’re discriminated against for refusing to perform abortion and “provide legal recourse for hospitals, health systems, religious charities, churches and insurance companies who are required to participate in or provide coverage for abortion,” The Hill reported Wedenesday.

At the event, three nurses shared personal testimonies in support of the bill: Cathy DeCarlo, a New York nurse forced to help with abortion, Sandra Mendoza, an Illinois nurse who lost her job because she wouldn’t aid in abortion and Fe Vinoya, a New Jersey nurse who risked her job for refusing assist with abortion.

Of the three nurses, DeCarlo spoke first. She began her nursing career in the Philippines to follow her “passion for helping patients” and to serve God.

“My faith in God and the Catholic Church’s teaching about the sanctity of all human life further inspired my career in nursing as it encouraged me to serve all those who are sick with gentleness and respect,” she added. “My faith also informed my conscience to never harm or intentionally take the life of an innocent person.”

After working in the Philippines, she moved to New York in 2001 for new opportunities to grow her career. Three years later, she began working at a New York hospital that “assured” her she would “never have to compromise my conscience and participate in an abortion.”

But in 2009, that changed.

“I was preparing for what I thought was going to be a common procedure following a miscarriage,” she said, tearing up, “only to realize that I was being asked to perform an abortion on a live 22-week-old unborn baby.”

When she asked for a substitute to take her place for the abortion, her supervisor refused.

Instead, her supervisor warned her that “if I didn’t assist, I would be charged with insubordination and abandoning my patient.” DeCarlo added, “My nursing career and ability to care for patients and provide for my family would be over.”

The memory still haunts her.

“I’ll never forget that day as I watched in horror as the doctor dismembered and removed the baby’s bloody limbs, and I had to account for all the pieces,” she confessed. “I still have nightmares about that day.”

Because of that experience, DeCarlo called on Congress to pass the Conscience Protection Act “so that no other nurses or healthcare professionals are ever forced to go through what I did.”

In addition to DeCarlo, Mendoza and Vinoya also cited their religious convictions against abortion.

An award-winning nurse, Mendoza stressed that she lost her job in 2015 at the Winnebago County Health Department because of her “religious convictions that prevent me from taking a person’s life,” including through abortion.

“I’m called to protect life, not destroy it,” she said, citing the Hippocratic Oath. “While we may not all agree on abortion, I’d hope we can all agree that no doctor or nurse should be forced out of employment on account of their faith and commitment to protecting life.”

“If Congress passes the Conscience Protection Act,” she added, “I would have legal recourse to pursue justice in my case to ensure that hospitals receiving federal dollars do not discriminate against or force to lose their jobs healthcare professionals like me who seek to protect all innocent life.”

Like Mendoza, Vinoya urged that “participating in the destruction of human life is not only a violation of my religious convictions, it also conflicts with my calling as a medical professional to protect life.”

“I was asked to choose between following my conscience or keeping my job to sustain my family — a choice no American should ever have to face,” she urged.

While her state, New Jersey, and federal law “prohibited discrimination against” her and 12 nurses who refused to perform abortion, she warned, in a written statement provided after her speech, that “in practice those laws are only as effective as the willingness of government officials willing to enforce them.”

The Conscience Protection Act, her statement concluded, “clarifies existing protectons and provides a private right of action so that healthcare professionals like me do not have to rely upon which ever administration is in power to enforce law.”

Other speakers at the event included Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), Rep. Diane Black (R-TN), Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL), Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-PA) and Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX).
