‘More Dead Cops’ Banner Hangs over NY Highway

‘More Dead Cops’ Banner Hangs over NY Highway

Police are investigating a banner found hanging above a New York overpass that reads “More Dead Cops.”  The banner also bears the “circle A” brand used by Antifa activists.

Retired police Capt. John Cooney said whoever hung the sign is “ignorant,” PoliceOne.com reported.

Police found the banner hanging from an overpass on a highway near the state’s capital of Albany, New York. Someone removed the banner shortly after police received a call reporting the offensive slogan.

A “circle A” brand also appeared on the banner, police said. The mark is similar to that used by Antifa activists who carry out acts of violence at various rallies across the country, Fox News Insider reported.

“It’s absolute horror,” community resident Johnathan Falk told the local Fox News reporter. “We’re talking about people who put their lives on the line every day for strangers for not a lot of money, and they’re getting so disrespected. It’s terrible.”

As for a reaction from local police, Retired Captain John Cooney told the reporter, “We will continue to do our job and serve the citizens as we always have.”

Capt. Cooney said the legality of the banner is “murky at best,” News 10 ABC reported. He said trespassing or unlawful use of property are the likely offenses police could pursue if they find the suspects.

“It’s a waste of their time, and to be frank, to worry about the statement made on the banner today would be a waste of our time,” he concluded.

Officially, police say they are “looking into the matter.”

Network Evening Newscasts Ignore First Day of Menendez Trial

All three major network newscasts ignored the first day of Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez’s (N.J.) corruption trial during their Wednesday night airings.

CBS, NBC, and ABC all began their programs discussing Hurricane Irma before reporting on President Donald Trump’s decision to support a short-term debt-ceiling extension or providing an update on the recovery efforts in Texas for Hurricane Harvey victims.

"CBS Evening News" led off with a story about Hurricane Irma, followed by:

  • Houston’s recovery from Hurricane Harvey
  • Trump’s $1 million donation for Harvey relief
  • The latest on Trump’s cancellation of the DACA program
  • Trump’s deal with Democrats on raising the debt ceiling
  • Violence in Chicago
  • Hillary Clinton’s upcoming memoir on her election loss
  • Seattle Seahawks player Michael Bennett’s claim of police misconduct in Las Vegas
  • Safety ratings for pickup trucks
  • Wildfires in the western United States
  • Legos

"NBC Nightly News" also began with Irma, followed by:

  • FEMA’s financial struggles to keep up with Hurricanes Harvey and Irma
  • Republicans blindsided by Trump’s deal with Democrats
  • Western wildfires
  • Michael Bennett
  • A shoplifter in Texas escaping handcuffs and stealing a police car
  • The latest on the U.S. Open
  • A young boy who got a police escort to school after his father, a cop, died
  • A woman making her wedding registry about donations to others

"ABC World News Tonight" began with Irma, followed by:

  • Trump’s deal with Democrats
  • The latest on DACA
  • The Texas shoplifter’s escape
  • Michael Bennett
  • Facebook revealing $100,000 in political ads bought by fake accounts based in Russia during the election
  • A safety recall on dressers
  • Jo Dee Messina revealing her cancer diagnosis
  • A plane flying by Hurricane Irma

NewsBusters noted that the ABC and NBC morning shows also ignored the trial Wednesday morning, while "CBS This Morning" did a brief blurb on it.

Prosecutors allege that Menendez "sold his office" for lavish vacations and gifts in return for political favors on behalf of his friend Dr. Salomon Melgen, a wealthy Florida ophthalmologist. Menendez has professed his innocence and believes he will be vindicated.

While Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) was on hand Wednesday in the courtroom to support his fellow New Jersey lawmaker, other Senate Democrats have showed reticence to comment on the trial.

Fox News, CNN and MSNBC, however, have covered the trial this week. MSNBC’s Ari Melber said Wenesday the case appeared "overwhelming" against Menendez, while CNN’s Jake Tapper previewed the trial on Tuesday’s edition of "The Lead." Fox’s "Special Report" also had a full story on the case on Wednesday evening.

UPDATE: 2:52 P.M.: This story was updated with information about Fox News, CNN and MSNBC’s coverage of the trial.

THE LEAKING OF CLASSIFIED INFORMATION TO THE NATIONAL NEWS MEDIA

The criminal leaking of classified information to the news media is continuing unabated.

In 05/2017, in his testimony before Congress, James Comey, former FBI Director, revealed that he asked a close friend to leak private memos he had kept recounting his interactions with Trump to the news media.

Hiding in plain sight: New Hampshire mosque preaches terrorism

A concerned New Englander recently arranged for the assessment of the Islamic Society of New Hampshire’s (ISoNH) mosque in Manchester in that state. He had noticed a disproportionate number of military-age males visiting the mosque and heard from many local women who said they were frightened by the attitudes some of these men expressed toward them. The results of the man’s research were more frightening.

Anyone enforcing Virgin Islands governor’s gun-grabbing order should be sued into poverty

Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp issued a tyrannical order giving his territory’s National Guard broad authority to seize guns and ammunition in anticipation of the arrival of Category 5 Hurricane Irma.

The National Rifle Association is quite properly threatening a lawsuit to restore the civil rights of the people of the Virgin Islands. “People need the ability to protect themselves during times of natural disaster,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’S Institute for Legislative Action. “This dangerous order violates the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens and puts their lives at risk.”

Top Bill Clinton Campaign Strategist Breaks Down Why “Trump’s DACA Move Is Brilliant”

While large swathes of both the liberal and conservative media denounce President Trump’s decision to work with Democrat members of Congress to pass a solution to DACA, former top campaign strategist Dick Morris believes the move was “brilliant.”

Dick Morris writes:

By now, it evidently has occurred to President Donald Trump that if he lets Congress do what it wants, it will do nothing. Any legislation he proposes will end up DOA, a casualty of gridlock.

Hence the brilliance of his DACA decision.

If the Democrats don’t work constructively with the GOP to produce a real piece of legislation, the deadline of an expiring DACA program will force them into line. Facing the possible deportation of 800,000 of their constituents because of Democratic intransigence, the party — from Schumer on down — will have to pull in its horns so as not to impale a divided Republican party.

Instead, the entire Senate — all one hundred members — will have to work together with stellar bi-partisanship to craft a solution. The Senate will function as it is supposed to.

The probable solution will be very similar, in all likelihood, to the Gang of Eight proposal that was such a hot potato during the 2016 election. Dreamers will have to show that they have no criminal record, have not been on welfare, and have learned English to be able to stay.

If the Democrats balk at any of the GOP conditions, the default solution is 800,000 deportations, an unacceptable alternative to their party. All the leverage will be on the side of the Republicans.

On Tuesday morning, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the Trump administration will end DACA. A source close to the White House reveals Sessions’ announcement shook the establishment to its core. This is the type of thing Trump supporters voted for.

Axios reports:

Key excerpts from his statement:

  • “The executive branch, through DACA, deliberately sought to achieve what the legislative branch specifically refused to authorize… such an open-ended circumvention of immigration laws was an unconstitutional exercise of authority.”
  • “The nation must set and enforce a limit on how many immigrants we admit each year and that means all can not be accepted.
The reaction, per a source close to the White House: “In one amazing press conference, Jeff Sessions lit up the entire institutional left, the mainstream media and probably caused a couple tears to hit the floor from some West Wing Democrats.”

On Tuesday President Trump announced an end the Obama-era program that grants work permits to illegal immigrants who arrived in this country illegally with their lawbreaking parents or guardians.

Attorney General Sessions: Ending the previous administration’s disrespect for the legislative process is an important first step. All immigration policies should serve the interest of the people of the United States, lawful immigrant and native born alike… We are people of compassion and we are people of law. There is nothing compassionate about the failure to enforce immigration law. Enforcing the law saves lives, protects communities and tax payers, and prevents human suffering.

The compassionate thing to do is to end DACA and enforce the law.

There is no such thing as a “deserving DREAMer”

There is no such thing as a “deserving DREAMer”
by Michelle Malkin
Creators Syndicate
Copyright 2017

Over and over again, from the mouths of politicians in both parties, identity politics purveyors and cheap labor lobbyists, we hear the same refrains about President Obama’s 800,000 amnestied illegal alien youths:

“They don’t deserve to be punished.”

“They deserve protection.”

“They deserve the American dream.”

Deserve, deserve, deserve.

Over and over again, in countless cookie-cutter op-ed pieces published over the past month, so-called DREAMers have vociferously lamented President Donald Trump’s push to eventually undo their unconstitutional five-year reprieves from deportation plus coveted work permits:

“DREAMers like me have flourished under DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). Trump might take it all away.”

“If Trump ends DACA, DREAMers like me will return to a life of anxiety and doubt.”

I feel exhausted, I feel frustrated, I feel angry, and in the worst moments, I feel helpless. I feel terrified that at any moment this program is going to be taken away and once again I won’t be able to work — how will I pay my bills? … What is going to happen to me if I get stopped on the street and I no longer have DACA? What’s going to happen to me if I get put into deportation proceedings and I don’t have thousands of dollars to hire an attorney to stay in this country?”

I will lose my job, my ability to finish college, my driver’s license, and will be subject to deportation. I am not alone either. Almost one million young immigrants like myself will be affected in the same way and possibly even worse.”

I, I, I. Me, me, me. My bills. My ego. My education. My job. My anxiety.

Since when did DACA become the Depression and Anxiety Cure for Amnesty-seekers?

It’s this insatiable appetite for collective entitlement that demonstrates the perils of blanket amnesty. Give a privileged political class an inch and they’ll take, take, take until feckless public servants give away their country.

The proper response to illegal alien activists demanding that Washington act “NOW!” to preserve their comfort, allay their anxieties and extend their unconstitutional protections indefinitely is this:

Why?

Americans in uniform who’ve dedicated their lives to defending our nation are struggling to gain access to quality health care they’ve earned by action, not by accident or circumstance. Imagine their stress.

Five million American young people between 16-34 were unemployed last year and 50 million more are not even in the labor force. Imagine their anxiety.

Hundreds of thousands of law-abiding people from around the world are waiting patiently for their backlogged visa and green card applications to be reviewed. Imagine their frustration.

Why don’t their dreams come first?

Nancy Pelosi called on House Republicans to help her “safeguard our young DREAMers from the senseless cruelty of deportation and shield families from separation and heartbreak.”

Never has this Bay Area elitist called on House Republicans to join her in shielding native-born and law-abiding immigrant families from the senseless and preventable violence committed by criminals in this country illegally who’ve caused immeasurable heartbreak for decades in her overrun California sanctuary.

Jamiel Shaw Sr., whose son was mercilessly shot to death by a sanctuary-protected gang member living in outlaw-coddling Los Angeles illegally, administered a bracing reality check:

“You want to talk about families being separated? Try spending your holidays talking to a grave!”

The left-wing DREAM racket is a self-perpetuating political marketing machine. Its primary contribution to American society? Lashing out at how cruel, racist, ignorant and ungrateful the rest of us are for not bowing down before the hallowed angel children of the Obama administration’s amnesty program. It’s no coincidence that the publicity-hungry leaders of the DREAMer movement are full-time fulminators in government-funded academia, community organizing outfits, immigration law foundations and the grievance-nursing media.

A deserving DREAMer would respect the sovereign right of an independent nation to determine who stays and who goes based on its national interest and constitutional obligations to put its citizenry first.

The deserving DREAMer, in other words, would admit he or she is owed nothing and deserves nothing.

There is no such thing as a “deserving DREAMer.”

Ray Lewis Says Ravens Were About To Sign Kaepernick Before His Girlfriend Sent This Racist Tweet

Cop-hating, Castro-loving QB Colin Kaepernick has yet to be signed to an NFL team for the 2017 season after he opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers. The narrative on the Left goes something like this: the NFL is a deeply racist organization actively black-listing Kap.

But that narrative is not being bought by some in the league. Earlier this month, Buffalo Bills LeSean McCoy explained that Kaepernick’s play simply isn’t good enough for a team to sign him considering all the “chaos” he brings; which McCoy said can tear apart a team.

And now former Baltimore Raven linebacker Ray Lewis is blowing a hole in the narrative, too.

According to Lewis, the Ravens were going to sign the controversial quarterback until his girlfriend, radio host Ness Diab, decided to tweet a horrible racist meme of Lewis on August 3; Diab compared the football legend to Samuel L. Jackson’s character in Django Unchained hugging owner Steve Bisciotti, compared to Leonardo Dicaprio’s character in the film.

“We were going to close the deal to sign him,” Lewis said on Tuesday’s Inside the NFL. “Steve Bisciotti said, ‘I want to hear Colin Kaepernick speak to let me know that he wants to play football.'”

“And it never happens because that picture comes up the next day,” added the former NFL star.

“[Kaepernick’s] girl goes out and put out this racist gesture and doesn’t know we are in the back office about to try to get this guy signed,” Lewis explained. “Steve Bisciotti has said it himself: ‘How can you crucify Ray Lewis when Ray Lewis is the one calling for Colin Kaepernick?'”

When asked if Kaepernick would have been signed if Diab hadn’t sent the racist tweet, Lewis replied:

“Then he’s flying him to Baltimore. … I am sitting with all three of them and we are all having a conversation about bringing Colin Kaepernick in.”

In other words, it was Kaepernick’s girlfriend’s racism that lost him a job opportunity, not the “racist” NFL.

Two days before Diab sent out the racist meme, Lewis posted an emotional video on Twitter telling Kaepernick that he respects him and prays for him often.

“I wish you the best in life; I hope you chase whatever God got for you to chase. And once again, I applaud what you stood up for,” said Lewis.

“And if people really wanna help you, if they really wanna help you, man, they’ll pray for you, brother,” he said. “They will lead you the right way and stop encouraging you to be caught up in some of this nonsense.”

Yawn: ABC, NBC Skip Start of Bribery Trial for Democratic Senator

While ABC and NBC on Wednesday continued their silence on the bribery trial of Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, CBS This Morning allowed a scant 22 seconds. This was the first time all year CBS even mentioned the scandal swirling around the New Jersey politician. ABC and NBC haven’t touched the trial, which gets underway today.

This Morning co-host Gayle King briefly explained, “The New Jersey Democrat is accused of doing political favors for a Florida eye doctor in exchange for campaign donations and very lavish gifts. Both Menendez and the doctor denied the allegations and both have pleaded not guilty.”

She added, “Menendez is the first sitting senator to stand trial for bribery in 40 years.” One would think that fact alone would garner some attention, but not on ABC and NBC. And it’s not as though these two morning shows were only focused on hurricanes.

ABC’s Good Morning America devoted an eye-popping 22 minutes and 39 seconds to promoting the new season of Dancing With the Stars. Think the show’s “journalists” could manage a few seconds on Menendez?

After all, this has a real impact beyond the alleged corruption of a powerful politician. If the Democrat is convicted and forced to resign in 2017, his successor would be appointed by Republican Governor Chris Christie. This could increase the ability of Republicans to push through Donald Trump’s agenda.

Over on NBC’s Today, the four-hour-long program devoted 4 minutes and 18 seconds to “fall fashion bargains.” But nothing to Menendez. CBS This Morning deserves credit for touching the story at all, but not too much. It was only 22 seconds. As a comparison, the show allowed 5 minutes and 5 seconds on the Broadway play Hamilton

In 2014, when the Bridgegate allegations exploded around another New Jersey politician, Republican Christie, the three networks devoted 88 minutes in less than 48 hours. On December 4, 2014, when a Democrat-led investigation failed to find any evidence conclusively linking Christie to Bridgegate, ABC, CBS and NBC managed just 32 seconds.
