In politics, intellectual candle power (brains) has no direct relation to reality.  Some of the brainiest people who ever lived were (and are) flaming idiot leftists.

A natural sentimentality once inclined me toward leftist thinking.  That got checked at age 15, when I read what Einstein said about his famous theory: “If it doesn’t match reality [I think he said ‘experiment’], it’s wrong.”

That hit me square between the eyes.  I’d been thinking you stuck by what “felt right,” no matter what.  Trust your instincts, trust yourself, if it feels good it’s right, loyalty, never give up, never give in.  Like that.

An uncle once confided that his mom (my gramma) was fiercely protective.  ”If told one of her boys was guilty of a heinous crime, she would never believe it.  But if she had to believe it, she’d know there was a good reason.”  That kind of thinking can go down dark, dark roads.  Fact is, you can love someone you don’t much like, or whom you don’t like at all.  That’s the way of some people in some families.

It’s also the way of socialism.  You can love the idea, but you must be wedded, always, to reality.  Reality, not wishful thinking, must guide your actions.  There are no good reasons for bad or destructive actions.

This is why it matters to know that socialism always fails, always ratchets up to tyranny that delivers stacks of bodies, murderous famines, dreary lives.  It fails not for lack of the right people in charge, but because socialism is just a bad idea.  It’s meant for families, not for societies.  Its sentimental beauty doesn’t matter.  The bodies do.  The famines do.  The dreary lives do.  They are reality.

Knowing that history, we cannot yield to it.

Today’s left is wedded to the idea that black people in America have no chance to live normal, fun, rewarding, successful lives.  This idea is so compelling to them that the thought expressed in the Netflix movie American Son, that blacks can’t have the American Dream, leaves them anguished.  Yet blacks in the millions live the American Dream every day, the Horatio Alger story of a poor kid from nowhere making a good life.

It happens routinely in America.  Not the exception.  The rule.

Sadly, the failures of socialism often, if not usually, lead people to make excuses for it.  The excuses turn to pretense that the negative things aren’t real.  Then to lies about how wonderful things really are.  That happened in the thirties about Stalin’s Russia, in the forties about Hitler’s Germany, in the fifties about Mao’s China, in the sixties about Castro’s Cuba, in the seventies about Sandinista Nicaragua.  It got turned back for a while, during and after Reagan, but it’s happening all over again today about Maduro’s Venezuela, etc., etc.

That’s where socialism unfailingly leads.  Denials, pretenses, lies.  Bodies, famines, dreariness.

People who are naturally leftists can wean themselves away from pretense and lies with practice in looking at what’s actually going on.  But they have to accept that the ultimate arbiter is reality, not some theory or notion that starts out, “If everyone would just…”  Today’s left in America burns and bombs and kills.  It was the same in the sixties, when I began thinking about all this.  Burning and bombing and killing aren’t part of any dream I ever had about social justice.

Perhaps curiously, America as founded was.

Two weeks ago, we learned that Sandia National Laboratories, one of only three National Nuclear Security Administration research and development laboratories in the United States, was mandating that its white, male executives attend anti-white training sessions. Since then, a whistleblower has emerged, describing in detail the anti-white “critical race theory” that Sandia’s management is foisting on employees at all levels, even though this racial attacks in the material manifestly violate federal law.

In mid-August, Christopher Rufo published a Twitter thread about a blatantly anti-white seminar at Sandia. To understand how wrong that seminar was, you need to know that Sandia, as a taxpayer-funded contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration, must comply with federal anti-discrimination regulations. Thus, Executive Order 11246 Subpart B, sec. 202 states in relevant part:

The contractor will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin. The contractor will take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin. 

Last I looked, white employees ticked off two boxes in the protected classes above: race and color.

Casey Peterson, an electrical engineer, has been unhappy about the direction that Sandia is taking. The seminar described in Rufo’s Twitter thread – as well as the fact that it was required only for white men – struck him as discriminatory. Moreover, Peterson believes that critical race theory is a dangerous form of anti-white discrimination premised up false facts and crackpot theories.

Peterson did something audacious in today’s environment: He pushed back hard, creating a lengthy, detailed, factually-supported video challenging the critical race theory that forms the basis of Sandia’s undoubtedly illegally and contractually-violative race-based discrimination. Christopher Rufo picks up the story:

Following my investigation, a dissident electrical engineer named Casey Peterson emailed all 16,000 employees denouncing critical race theory in the lab and hoping to spark a rebellion against Sandia executives.

On Tuesday, Peterson made a YouTube video “pushing back back on the narrative of modern systemic racism and white privilege.” 

The video quickly hit 10,000 views within the labs and dozens of Sandia employees contacted Peterson to express support.

Within hours, Sandia executives dispatched a counterintelligence team to lock Peterson out of the network and scrub his communications from internal servers—which, via the Streisand Effect, made the video even more viral and sparked widespread unrest against Sandia executives.

By the afternoon, executives were panicking about the brewing rebellion, placed Peterson on paid administrative leave, and established a “security review board” to “evaluate whether [his] actions have comprised or posed a threat to Sandia computing and security systems.”

Peterson—who took a stand at grave risk to his career—says he is speaking on behalf of all of Sandia employees who are “scared to speak out” because of the lab’s repressive culture. “If I get fired because of this,” Peterson says, “the fight does not end, it only intensifies.”

This is the first explicit rebellion against critical race theory in the federal government—and the coalition is growing. “We need to completely rip [critical race theory] out of Sandia root and stem,” Peterson says. “It is cancer and we need to get it out of the labs right now.”

Sandia executives have made it clear: they want to force critical race theory, race-segregated trainings, and white male reeducation camps on their employees—and all dissent will be severely punished. Progressive employees will be rewarded; conservative employees will be purged.

Keep this in mind: Sandia Labs is a federally-funded research agency and designs America’s nuclear weapons. Senator @HawleyMO and @SecBrouillette have launched an inspector general investigation, but Sandia executives have only accelerated their purge against conservatives.

Sandia executives face a decision-point: they can back down and Peterson’s rebellion will notch an internal victory; or they can fire him and Peterson will become further evidence of Sandia’s corrupt and repressive culture. In a sense, Peterson cannot lose.

According to multiple sources, the executives who have pushed the most toxic elements of critical race theory and race-segregated trainings are James Peerey, Dori Ellis, David White (he/him), and Mark Sellers. They must be investigated by the Inspector General.

Here’s the bottom line: this is the first shot in the rebellion against critical race theory in the federal government. Casey Peterson has taken a courageous stand and the Inspector General must conduct a full investigation of Sandia Labs—and hold executives accountable.

We are opening up a multi-front war against critical race theory in the federal government: (1) investigative reporting to expose the truth; (2) internal rebellions to increase the pressure; (3) inspector general investigations; (4) laying the groundwork for an executive order.

It might take time, there might be losses, but we will achieve victory! Swords up!⚔️ Prayers up! 🙏

Everyone, even Democrats, can agree that the DNC convention was an embarrassing bust, a poorly produced concoction of vapidity, anger and wrath.  They overdid the “let’s make everyone afraid of covid” bit, no audiences, masks on everyone even when alone on a stage.  It was a joke perpetrated by people who, to the core of their beings, think the American people are really stupid.  

This core belief, that they can stupefy and manipulate us all, is why they produced a ridiculous covid-fearful four-night convention so boring no one watched it… because it was unwatchable.  John Kerry? Bill Clinton?  John Kasich?  Bernie Sanders?   Who on this planet cares about anything these corruptocrats have to say?  No one, not even the current crop of apoplectic Trump haters, especially those among the media.  The entire endeavor was a joke born of the left’s contempt for middle America.  They actually think that by making common cause with Antifa and Black Lives Matter, they can win.  

Now that we’ve seen and reveled in the joyous tone of the RNC convention, the abyss between the two parties is writ gloriously large.  The left is angry and rattled because they’ve lost their grip on the power that they’ve always taken for granted, even when there was a Republican in the White House.  

They are not running the show, Trump is, and his attempt to drain the swamp is making inroads, despite all their treasonous efforts to destroy the man and his presidency.  The ferocity of their hate for Trump has led them to reveal their inner souls and it is not a pretty picture.  They are an ugly bunch. The termagant Nancy Pelosi charges that Trump and his supporters are “enemies of the state”!  How is that for projection?  

Now she is advising Biden not to debate Trump.  Of course, she is; like everyone else, she knows Biden is cognitively unable to debate the President.  Pelosi and her partners in crimes against America have done incalculable damage to this country, to their own cities, and to the Constitution itself.  If Biden were to win, who would be running the country?  Certainly not no-show-Joe.  Joe is done, over.  He belongs at home with a caregiver.  

But Biden will not be the face of the presidency; he is going to lose, probably badly.  The magnificence of the RNC convention, the overpowering profundity of each and every speaker, exposed the sheer vacuity of the Democrat party as currently constituted.  It is not only vacuous but thoroughly deranged.  For months they have actually believed that the riots in the streets would help them defeat Trump!  So besotted by Antifa and Black Lives Matter, both violent Marxist organizations, they forgot to remember the precise meaning of the word “civilization.”  

This kind of violent protest got Nixon elected in a landslide.  Perhaps they counted on two generations of leftist indoctrination to serve them well, but no, it won’t.  Most Americans still favor law and order over barbarity and bloodshed.  They do not look kindly on their small businesses being destroyed by thugs in the euphemistic name of “peaceful protests” and “systemic racism.”  

Just who are the racists?  The oh-so-intolerant left and the Democrats who refuse to condemn their monstrous behavior.  Consider the cruel attacks on those leaving the White House after the final convention event.  The inept mayor of DC allowed this; she loves it.  She thinks it will reverberate in her favor.  Like the mayors of Seattle, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, the governors of New Jersey, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, California and New York, DC mayor Muriel Bowser is a fool, willing to sacrifice the safety of her citizens for dangerous political purposes.

What is most distressing are the painfully sophomoric responses by adult leftists.  Bette Midler posted vile comments about Melania’s lovely and gracious speech.  She insulted her accent, forgetting apparently that she speaks five languages fluently.  The always execrable Joe Lockhart of Clinton administration infamy (the Obamas bought his DC Kalorama mansion) stupidly went after Nick Sandmann, the eighteen-year-old our disgusting media unfairly eviscerated in 2018.  He has had the last laugh.  Lockhart is a childish, smug bully in adult clothing, and he is one of many such jerks on the left. Rob Reiner, Rosie O’Donnell, Stephen King, Kathy Griffin and their lot all exposed themselves for being the ill-mannered, malicious people they are.  Yamiche Alcindor of PBS tweeted an attack on the young, wheelchair-bound Madison Cawthorn for standing up at the end of his short speech.  She said his standing was an insult to social justice warriors!  Jake Tapper melted down, calling the last night of the convention a “super-spreader event.”  Rachel Maddow and Joy Reid cannot bear to hear good words about our nation.  They and their media clones hate this country and are severely triggered by those of us who love it.  The loathsome Joe and Mika?  Well, there are really no words to adequately describe their mendacity.  Do any of these people have children?  I hope not for they are all extremely poor role models.  

Kamala Harris delivered a spiteful prebuttal speech that was an embarrassment.  She blamed the President for Covid, as though he himself created it.  She blamed him for all the deaths despite his very early grasp of the potential seriousness of the virus.  She blamed him for the shock to our economy rather than all the Democrat governors who locked down their states in the hope it would hurt Trump.  They destroyed the economies of their own states to take out a president they hate!  

As for their citizens, their constituents and their small businesses?  Too bad.  Their sacrifice is the cost of doing the left’s bidding.  Every word out of Harris’s mouth was a lie, every single word.  She is a very nasty piece of work and a phony.  She will do and/or say whatever it takes to promote herself.  She initially encouraged the riots and has even been raising money to bail out the vandals and looters across the nation.  One can see that she is dying to cut Biden off at the knees, the sooner the better.   He should probably hire a food taster.

These hate-filled people also prove what all conservatives already know, that the Democrat party is viciously intolerant of people with views in opposition to their own.  They call black conservatives “Uncle Toms” thinking that is a slur.  Clearly, they’ve not read Beecher Stowe’s book Uncle Toms Cabin, for Uncle Tom is the finest character in the novel.  

Bottom line?  The Democrat party has devolved into a gang of hoodlums.  They taunt and demean anyone with whom they disagree, and they enable the violence and the looting in the streets of Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver, et. al.  or at least they did until Thursday when new talking points were distributed.  The polls that show Americans revere their police and expect law and order to be enforced by their elected officials must have come as a shock. 

Are they that clueless, that deluded?  Indeed, they are.  They prove it each and every day since President Trump was elected.  They’ve been infantilized by their own rage and they increasingly behave like despicably mean middle school bullies.  Vernon Jones, the Georgia  state rep and  former Democrat who supports Trump aptly described the democrat party in his speech on the first night of the RNC convention:  

“The Democrat party has become infected with a pandemic of intolerance, bigotry, socialism,  anti-law enforcement bias, and a dangerous tolerance for people who attack others, destroy their property and terrorize their own communities.”  

Sad but true.  This election actually is the most important since Lincoln’s;  the choice is between freedom and the soul-numbing imposition of tyrannical socialism.

What is most distressing are the painfully sophomoric responses by adult leftists.  Bette Midler posted vile comments about Melania’s lovely and gracious speech.  She insulted her accent, forgetting apparently that she speaks five languages fluently.  The always execrable Joe Lockhart of Clinton administration infamy (the Obamas bought his DC Kalorama mansion) stupidly went after Nick Sandmann, the eighteen-year-old our disgusting media unfairly eviscerated in 2018.  He has had the last laugh.  Lockhart is a childish, smug bully in adult clothing, and he is one of many such jerks on the left. Rob Reiner, Rosie O’Donnell, Stephen King, Kathy Griffin and their lot all exposed themselves for being the ill-mannered, malicious people they are.  Yamiche Alcindor of PBS tweeted an attack on the young, wheelchair-bound Madison Cawthorn for standing up at the end of his short speech.  She said his standing was an insult to social justice warriors!  Jake Tapper melted down, calling the last night of the convention a “super-spreader event.”  Rachel Maddow and Joy Reid cannot bear to hear good words about our nation.  They and their media clones hate this country and are severely triggered by those of us who love it.  The loathsome Joe and Mika?  Well, there are really no words to adequately describe their mendacity.  Do any of these people have children?  I hope not for they are all extremely poor role models.  

Kamala Harris delivered a spiteful prebuttal speech that was an embarrassment.  She blamed the President for Covid, as though he himself created it.  She blamed him for all the deaths despite his very early grasp of the potential seriousness of the virus.  She blamed him for the shock to our economy rather than all the Democrat governors who locked down their states in the hope it would hurt Trump.  They destroyed the economies of their own states to take out a president they hate!  

As for their citizens, their constituents and their small businesses?  Too bad.  Their sacrifice is the cost of doing the left’s bidding.  Every word out of Harris’s mouth was a lie, every single word.  She is a very nasty piece of work and a phony.  She will do and/or say whatever it takes to promote herself.  She initially encouraged the riots and has even been raising money to bail out the vandals and looters across the nation.  One can see that she is dying to cut Biden off at the knees, the sooner the better.   He should probably hire a food taster.

These hate-filled people also prove what all conservatives already know, that the Democrat party is viciously intolerant of people with views in opposition to their own.  They call black conservatives “Uncle Toms” thinking that is a slur.  Clearly, they’ve not read Beecher Stowe’s book Uncle Toms Cabin, for Uncle Tom is the finest character in the novel.  

Bottom line?  The Democrat party has devolved into a gang of hoodlums.  They taunt and demean anyone with whom they disagree, and they enable the violence and the looting in the streets of Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver, et. al.  or at least they did until Thursday when new talking points were distributed.  The polls that show Americans revere their police and expect law and order to be enforced by their elected officials must have come as a shock. 

Are they that clueless, that deluded?  Indeed, they are.  They prove it each and every day since President Trump was elected.  They’ve been infantilized by their own rage and they increasingly behave like despicably mean middle school bullies.  Vernon Jones, the Georgia  state rep and  former Democrat who supports Trump aptly described the democrat party in his speech on the first night of the RNC convention:  

“The Democrat party has become infected with a pandemic of intolerance, bigotry, socialism,  anti-law enforcement bias, and a dangerous tolerance for people who attack others, destroy their property and terrorize their own communities.”  

Sad but true.  This election actually is the most important since Lincoln’s;  the choice is between freedom and the soul-numbing imposition of tyrannical socialism.

Portland’s mayor, Ted Wheeler, has already made his city a punchline internationally, vacuously mouthing the platitudes of Black Lives Matter, and watching mobs riot and burn his city for 92 days straight, with no effort to contain it. Democrats bristle at Republican efforts to pin rioting on poor Democrat rule, but are cut off at the pass when Portland is brought up. Nobody can argue about the incompetence there. Even the people in Minneapolis console themselves with the thought that as bad as their city is, at least it’s not Portland.

President Trump brought up his city by name in his widely watched Republican convention speech, because it’s such a killshot.

Make no mistake, if you give power to Joe Biden, the radical left will defund police departments all across America. They will pass federal legislation to reduce law enforcement nationwide. They will make every city look like Democrat-run Portland, Oregon.

Yet to paraphrase Chelsea Clinton: He persists.

On night 92 of the sacking of his city, Wheeler loudly turned down an offer of federal aid to stop the rioting, and put out a loud “stay away” press release, fully expecting some lefty clapping. 

One problem: The rioters he was standing up for read that as a signal to invade his apartment lobby:

And they did. As Matt Vespa notes over at Townhall:

Wheeler literally told the president to “stay away.” And now, leftists have reportedly stormed the apartment complex where he lives, and they will not leave until he abolishes the police department by 2022 and resigns from office. It wasn’t a massive horde, but now that these folks know where he lives—expect more of these shenanigans. 

Wenosha didn’t do that – all it took was a few nights of rioting and they were all in for some federal help because there was some understanding about how bad it was going to get for their city — it takes decades for cities to recover from rioting, sadly enough.

Wenosha wasn’t the only place, either. Back when Chicago’s mayor got the protestors-at-the-doorstep moment, she suddenly snapped to her senses and accepted federal aid for the purpose of cracking down on the violence-minded invaders, apparently recognizing that this being Chicago, it could well have been the doing of political opponents. Everyone’s a conservative about things they know best, and in this case, the point was literally driven home.

Not so Portland. Wheeler continues thus far with the naive view that if he can just protest hard enough, just show he hates Trump hard enough, the protestors will come to love him. 

Trump’s thrown out a warning to Wheeler in recent hours about what’s next:

Yet Wheeler hasn’t a clue. He remains a babe in the woods about what these “fiery but peaceful” rioters’ aims are – to create chaos and make Portland unliveable. And yes, they’d like him out and one of their warlords in. That’s reality and the longer he takes to recognize this, the worse it’s going to get. He’s convinced the voters will support him no matter what, Because Trump, and he’s convinced the protestors are less a threat than Trump’s offer to help restore order through troops.

Now they’re after him, he still thinks he’s mayor of Portland, rather than the protestor’s kick-around toy. One way or another, he’s likely to find himself finished. If the protestors don’t get him, the voters might.
