WALSH: Before You Honor Jacob Blake As A Martyr, Read The Criminal Complaint Against Him

The reporting on Jacob Blake has sometimes mentioned in passing that there was a warrant for Blake’s arrest stemming from a domestic violence incident. The actual crime that Blake is accused of committing isn’t often described in any detail, despite the fact that the alleged crime may be relevant to the shooting on Sunday. It potentially speaks to Blake’s state of mind, his character, and his propensity for violence, and it explains why the cops were called in the first place.

According to the criminal complaint, which can be found here, Blake’s ex-girlfriend says that he entered her house uninvited early in the morning on Sunday, May 3, 2020. She reports that she woke to find him in her room, standing over her. What happened next, by the woman’s account, is downright chilling:

LNB stated at about 6AM she was woken up by the father of her children, Jacob Blake, herein known as the defendant, standing over her saying, “I want my shit.” As LNB lay there, on her back, the defendant, suddenly and without warning, reached his hand between her legs, penetrated her vaginally with a finger, pull it out and sniffed it, and said, “Smells like you’ve been with other men.”

The complaint says that Blake, after allegedly committing this violent and degrading act against the victim, immediately left the room, took her key and her debit card, and drove away in her vehicle. She says he made two withdrawals with the stolen card. The complaint then provides some background insight into the relationship between the victim and Blake:

LNB stated she and the defendant have three children together but have never resided together in the eight years they have been on and off. LNB stated the defendant is unemployed, has no vehicle, and would not tell LNB where he was currently living. LNB stated over the past eight years the defendant has physically assaulted her around twice a year when he drinks heavily.

As a result of this complaint, Blake was charged on July 6 with felony third-degree sexual assault, misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct connected to domestic abuse.

If these accusations are true, then Blake is a serial abuser and a violent man who tried to control women through violence and fear. Does the fact that he is possibly a dirtbag mean that police could randomly pull up and shoot him in the back? No, of course not. Which is why it is good that they did not randomly pull up and shoot him in the back.

They came because his ex-girlfriend called 911. She reported that Blake wasn’t supposed to be there and had taken her keys. Now we potentially understand the context of why he was not supposed to be there, and why she said she was afraid of him, and what he may have been planning to do with her keys. When officers attempted to arrest the fugitive, he allegedly fought back, though his lawyer disputes the claim. At some point he appears to have either grabbed a knife or potentially reached for one in the car.

It is possible that some additional detail will rise to the surface which implicates the officer in an unlawful shooting. But everything we have seen so far seems to paint a picture that puts the blame on the shoulders of Jacob Blake. And it also raises questions about why businesses like the NBA and the NFL have come out so firmly in support of a man who is accused of committing such horrible crimes against a woman. These organizations in particular have a long and sordid history of supporting, and covering for, abusive men. And it appears they may be doing it again.

Minnesota Democrat Mayors Endorse Donald Trump: Biden Did ‘Nothing’ for Working Class

DULUTH, Minnesota — Six Democrat Minnesota mayors endorsed President Donald Trump over former Vice President Joe Biden on Friday, asserting that Trump has improved the lives of Minnesotans, while Biden has moved too far to the left.

At a campaign rally for Trump’s reelection, Minnesota Iron Range mayors — Virginia Mayor Larry Cuffe, Chisholm Mayor John Champa, Ely Mayor Chuck Novak, Two Harbors Mayor Chris Swanson, Eveleth Mayor Robert Vlaisavljevich, and Babbitt Mayor Andrea Zupancich — endorsed Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for a second term in office.

The Democrat mayors charged that Minnesota had remained a Democrat stronghold for decades; however, they noted that Biden had done “nothing” for the working class as jobs left the Iron Range. The Minnesota Democrat mayors wrote:

Like many in our region, we have voted for Democrats over many decades. We have watched as our constituents’ jobs left not only the Iron Range, but our country. By putting tariffs on our products and supporting bad trade deals, politicians like Joe Biden did nothing to help the working class. We lost thousands of jobs, and generations of young people have left the Iron Range in order to provide for their families with good paying jobs elsewhere. Today, we don’t recognize the Democratic Party. It has been moved so far to the left it can no longer claim to be advocates of the working class. The hard-working Minnesotans that built their lives and supported their families here on the Range have been abandoned by radical Democrats. We didn’t choose to leave the Democratic Party, the party left us.

In contrast, they wrote that the Trump-Pence administration has cut taxes and pursued other policies that have brought the Iron Range “roaring back to life.”

“Lifelong politicians like Joe Biden are out of touch with the working class, out of touch with what the country needs, and out of touch with those of us here on the Iron Range and in small towns like ours across our nation,” they added.

Pence said at the campaign event that as mining was shut down in the Iron Range, Biden told miners to “learn to code.”

Pence added that Trump “always stands up for the Iron Range.”

Arrests Made After ‘Suspicious Vehicles With Out-Of-State Plates’ Stopped In Kenosha

Arrests Made After ‘Suspicious Vehicles With Out-Of-State Plates’ Stopped In Kenosha

Tyler Durden

Thu, 08/27/2020 – 18:05

Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin arrested nine individuals on Wednesday evening on charges of disorderly conduct after stopping several ‘suspicious vehicles with out-of-state plates’ and suspecting the occupants of "preparing for criminal activity related to the civil unrest," according to Fox29 Philadelphia.

Several other charges are pending, according to the Kenosha County DA.

The suspects were driving three vehicles; a black school bus, a bread truck and a tan minivan.

Police said this began with a citizen tip that the vehicles planned to meet in a remote lot near State Highway 50 and Green Bay Road,

Officers began surveilling the vehicles after locating them, assisted by U.S. Marshals — and confirmed the out-of-state plates.

Police said officers followed them to a gas station near Washington Road and 30th Avenue, where officers observed the occupants of the bus and bread truck exit and attempt to fill multiple fuel cans. –Fox29

Understandably, officers then suspected "that the occupants of these vehicles were preparing for criminal activity related to the civil unrest," after which they attempted to make contact and investigate the incident.

The police noted that "the officers exited their vehicles, identified themselves, were wearing appropriate identification and then detained the occupants of the bus and bread truck."

As officers closed in, the driver of the minivan attempted to pull away, but was stopped by police who forced an entry into the vehicle and arrested the occupants.

The vehicles contained helmets, gas masks, protective vests, illegal fireworks and suspected controlled substances, according to the report.

Do Reporters CARE That a BLM Protester Attacked a Journalist?

File this under something you think journalists would care about. A violent Black Live Matter member has attacked a journalist.
On Tuesday, Alpha News, a Minneapolis-based company “that covers stories the local press would rather ignore,” learned one of its journalists had been “accosted and assaulted” by “a vicious group of BLM zealots.”
According to an article posted on Tuesday by reporter John Hinderaker on the Powerline blog, Rebecca Brannon was covering a protest in downtown Minneapolis when she was attacked by several “protesters” he also described as “thugs.”
One woman struck Brannon repeatedly and attacked her with a construction cone. Ultimately, the BLM thugs stole Brannon’s phone, with which she had been videoing them, and threw it into a fountain.
The phone was destroyed, but Brannon was later able to recover video of the incident from the phone’s SD (Secure Digital) card. The video abruptly ends when the phone was ripped from her hands.
“It is easy to understand why Black Lives Matter activists do not want to be filmed by an independent journalist,” Hinderaker noted. “If more people understood that BLM is a violent, Marxist organization, its support would evaporate quickly.”
The demonstration was a response to a police officer shooting a black man in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin, that turned destructive and led to 11 people being arrested late Monday and early Tuesday outside the Hennepin County jail.
The arrests came after some of the roughly 100 demonstrators broke windows at the jail and threatened to breach its security, according to a report from the local sheriff’s office.
The city police made five arrests of their own, those occurring near the downtown precinct headquarters, noted department spokesman John Elder. One was for suspicion of property damage and the others for various misdemeanor offenses, Elder stated.
After the shooting took place, police deployed tear gas, flash bangs and rubber bullets upon protesters and erected a fence around the local courthouse. Hinderaker concluded: “I suppose the thugs who attacked Rebecca Brannon did not want their criminal activities to be exposed.”
Shouldn’t journalists care about other journalists getting attacked?

Over 100 Former John McCain Staffers Endorse Biden, Explicitly Because He’s Worse On War

Over 100 Former John McCain Staffers Endorse Biden, Explicitly Because He’s Worse On War

Tyler Durden

Thu, 08/27/2020 – 18:45

You can’t make this stuff up. The New York Times presents us with the only "respectable" option, given it’s all about "character" that can supposedly measure up to the national security state’s late great patriotic icon:

More than 100 former staff members for Senator John McCain are supporting Joseph R. Biden Jr., a show of support across the political divide that they hope amplifies the “Country First” credo of the former Arizona senator.

Many of the onetime McCain aides who signed the letter share his hawkish foreign policy views and recoil from Mr. Trump’s “America First” politics, which Mr. Salter called his “coddling of dictators or disinterest in our alliances.”

We should interject that in the late Senator McCain’s twisted Manichean worldview it was not at all "Country First" to begin with, more like "Which country to invade first?"

Here’s more from The Times:

The list of signatories includes a range of people — from chiefs of staff in Mr. McCain’s Senate office to junior aides on his campaigns — who worked for him over his 35 years in Congress and during two presidential bids.

Mark Salter, Mr. McCain’s longtime chief aide and speechwriter, helped organize the letter.

“We have different views of Joe Biden and the Democratic Party platform — most of us will disagree with a fair amount of it — but we all agree that getting Donald Trump out of office is clearly in the national interest,” Salter said.

The Libertarian Institute’s Scott Horton summed it up best by noting sarcastically, John McCain’s staff just endorsed Biden, "explicitly because he’s worse on war" – meaning that the very thing that most common sense people long considered to be the worst thing about McCain and his legacy becomes a "virtue" in the eyes of his former staff and writers at the NY Times.

Look who’s glowingly proud:

And Horton underscores further:

Got that? “Country First” means world empire and endless war; while on the contrary, “America First” means world empire and endless war at the hands of someone who whines about it sometimes.

Tragically, as Bonnie Kristan in The Week recently observed, the anti-war wing of both parties is effectively dead.

Walter Williams: Institutional Racism

Institutional racism and systemic racism are terms bandied about these days without much clarity. Being 84 years of age, I have seen and lived through what might be called institutional racism or systemic racism. Both operate under the assumption that one race is superior to another. It involves the practice of treating a person or group of people differently based on their race. Negroes, as we proudly called ourselves back then, were denied entry to hotels, restaurants and other establishments all over the nation, including the north. Certain jobs were entirely off-limits to Negroes. What school a child attended was determined by his race. In motion pictures, Negroes were portrayed as being unintelligent, such as the roles played by Stepin Fetchit and Mantan Moreland in the Charlie Chan movies. Fortunately, those aspects of racism are a part of our history. By the way, Fetchit, whose real name was Lincoln Perry, was the first black actor to become a millionaire, and he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and, in 1976, the Hollywood chapter of the NAACP awarded Perry a Special NAACP Image Award.
Despite the nation’s great achievements in race relations, there remains institutional racism, namely the widespread practice of treating a person or group of people differently based on their race. Most institutional racism is practiced by the nation’s institutions of higher learning. Eric Dreiband, an assistant attorney general in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, recently wrote that Yale University “grants substantial, and often determinative, preferences based on race.” The four-page letter said, “Yale’s race discrimination imposes undue and unlawful penalties on racially-disfavored applicants, including in particular Asian American and White applicants.”
Yale University is by no means alone in the practice of institutional racism. Last year, Asian students brought a discrimination lawsuit against Harvard University and lost. The judge held that the plaintiffs could not prove that the lower personal ratings assigned to Asian applicants are the result of “animus” or ill-motivated racial hostility towards Asian Americans by Harvard admissions officials. However, no one offered an explanation as to why Asian American applicants were deemed to have, on average, poorer personal qualities than white applicants. An explanation may be that Asian students party less, study more and get higher test scores than white students.
In court filings, Students for Fair Admissions argued that the University of North Carolina’s admissions practices are unconstitutional. Their brief stated: “UNC’s use of race is the opposite of individualized; UNC uses race mechanically to ensure the admission of the vast majority of underrepresented minorities.” Edward Blum, president of Students for Fair Admissions, said in a news release that the court filing “exposes the startling magnitude of the University of North Carolina’s racial preferences.” Blum said that their filing contains statistical evidence that shows that an Asian American male applicant from North Carolina with a 25% chance of getting into UNC would see his acceptance probability increase to about 67% if he were Latino and to more than 90% if he were African American.
In 1996, California voters passed Proposition 209 (also known as the California Civil Rights Initiative) that read: “The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.” California legislators voted earlier this summer to put the question to voters to repeal the state’s ban on the use of race as a criterion in the hiring, awarding public contracts and admissions to public universities and restore the practice of institutional racism under the euphemistic title “affirmative action.”
When social justice warriors use the terms “institutional racism” or “systemic racism,” I suspect it means that they cannot identify the actual person or entities engaged in the practice. However, most of what might be called institutional or systemic racism is practiced by the nation’s institutions of higher learning. And it is seen by many, particularly the intellectual elite, as a desirable form of determining who gets what.
