Losers (Democrats) will tell you the live TV audience numbers were lower than theirs. But who here actually still watches TV? I don’t, I watched it on YouTube on my Apple TV.
C-SPAN’s livestream of the first night of the Republican National Convention has attracted nearly 440,000 views, marking a substantial increase over the start of the Democratic National Convention, which drew 76,000 views.
The numbers for Monday night come ahead of traditional TV ratings from Nielsen Media Research, which will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Nielsen, 18.7 million people tuned in to the first night of the virtual Democratic convention from Milwaukee and Wilmington, Del., on Aug. 17, which featured speeches from former first lady Michelle Obama and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R)
Black Lives Matter protesters in Washington, DC, on Monday harassed diners seated on the patio of a Mexican restaurant and allegedly demanded they raise their fists, according to videos posted on social media.
A video showed one black female protester who entered the patio space of Mezcalero Cocina Mexicana on 14th Street NW and confronted a young white couple.
A video posted by RawsMedia on Twitter captioned: “Protesters says people who don’t raise there fist is a white supremacist.”
The protester can be heard screaming at the couple, “Is that why you don’t want to do it?” and “White supremacy!”
Two other diners are seen with their fists raised.
Cowbells and shouting can also be heard, as the crowd heckled the couple.
A staff member at the restaurant confirmed on Tuesday that about 200 protesters came to their restaurant on 14th Street the day before.
The incident was a part of a protest in D.C. in support of Jacob Blake, a black man in Wisconsin who scuffled with police before he was seen reaching into his car and then fired upon by police. He is reportedly in stable condition.
The shooting, however, has fueled already ongoing protests around the country by BLM and other associated groups.
Protesters in recent weeks have been increasingly targeting restaurant-goers, who now with COVID-19 restrictions, are sitting on patios accessible from the sidewalk.
Over the weekend, BLM protesters targeted Washington diners in other parts of Northwest DC, with one case leading to a physical confrontation.
Metropolitan police arrived shortly after the confrontation, and followed the protesters as they moved on to other restaurants.
Protesters also targeted diners in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Republican National Convention is being held this week.

Maximo Alvarez, an immigrant who escaped communist Cuba, warned Americans during the Republican National Convention on Monday night that he sees in the Democratic Party many of the things he saw in Cuba.
“I know all about the past. I’ll never forget my own. My family has fled totalitarianism and communism. More than once. First my dad from Spain, then from Cuba,” Alvarez said. “I’m speaking to you today because my family is done abandoning what we’ve rightfully earned. There is no place to hide.”
“I’m speaking to you today because I’ve seen people like this before. I’ve seen movements like this before. I’ve seen ideas like this before and I’m here to tell you, we cannot let them take over our country,” he said. “I heard the promises of Fidel Castro. And I can never forget all those who grew up around me, who looked like me, who could have been me, who suffered and starved and died because they believed those empty promises. They swallowed the communist poison pill.”
“Those false promises — spread the wealth, free education, free healthcare, defund the police, trust a socialist state more than your family and community — they don’t sound radical to my ears. They sound familiar,” he said. “When Fidel Castro was asked if he was a communist, he said he was a Roman Catholic. He knew he had to hide the truth.”
“But the country I was born in is gone – destroyed. When I watch the news in Seattle and Chicago and Portland, in other cities, when I see history being rewritten, when I hear the promises, I hear echoes of a former life I never wanted to hear again. I see shadows I thought I had outrun,” he said. “I may be Cuban-born, but I am 100% American. This is the greatest country in the world. I said this before. If I gave away everything I have today, it would not equal 1% of what I was given when I came to this great country of ours: The gift of freedom.”
“Right now it is up to us to decide our fate and to choose freedom over oppression,” he concluded. “President Trump is fighting the forces of anarchy and communism. And I know he will continue to do just that. And what about his opponent? And the rest of the DC swamp? I have no doubt they will hand the country over to those dangerous forces. … And here is what I’ve decided. My decision is very easy. I choose President Trump because I choose America.”

MAXIMO ALVAREZ: I live in Miami, Florida, not far from the Strait of Florida, which is just a 90-mile wide blue strip on a map for me. It divides freedom from fear. It divides the past from the future.
I know all about the past. I’ll never forget my own. My family has fled totalitarianism and communism. More than once. First my dad from Spain, then from Cuba.
But my family is done leaving. By the grace of God, I have lived the American dream, the greatest blessing I’ve ever had. My dad, who only had a sixth-grade education told me, “Don’t lose this place. You’ll never be as lucky as me.”
I’m speaking to you today because my family is done abandoning what we’ve rightfully earned. There is no place to hide.
I’m speaking to you today because President Trump may not always be politically correct. He is, in fact, a successful businessman, not your average career politicians. Our president is just another family man, a friend, and most importantly, our elected commander-in-chief who puts America first.
Keep in mind, the other guy running for president is mostly concerned about power. Yes. Yes, power for them, but not for the benefit of all other Americans.
I’m speaking to you today because I’ve seen people like this before. I’ve seen movements like this before. I’ve seen ideas like this before and I’m here to tell you, we cannot let them take over our country.
I heard the promises of Fidel Castro. And I can never forget all those who grew up around me, who looked like me, who could have been me, who suffered and starved and died because they believed those empty promises. They swallowed the communist poison pill.
If you have a chance, go to Freedom Tower in Miami. Stop to listen and you can still hear the sounds of those broken those promises being broken. It is the sound of waves in the ocean, carrying families clinging to pieces of wood, families with children who can’t swim, but willing to risk everything to reach this blessed land. It is the sound of tears hitting the paper of an application to become an American citizen. Most heard unlike the promises, but soon after they experienced the reality. Look at them. Listen to them. Learn the truth.
Those false promises — spread the wealth, free education, free healthcare, defund the police, trust a socialist state more than your family and community — they don’t sound radical to my ears. They sound familiar.
When Fidel Castro was asked if he was a communist, he said he was a Roman Catholic. He knew he had to hide the truth.
But the country I was born in is gone – destroyed. When I watch the news in Seattle and Chicago and Portland, in other cities, when I see history being rewritten, when I hear the promises, I hear echoes of a former life I never wanted to hear again. I see shadows I thought I had outrun.
My parents only wanted one person to decide my fate: me. Not some party member, not some government official, not some bureaucrat. In America, I would decide my own future.
I am so grateful to America, the place where I was able to build my American dream through hard work and determination. President Trump knows that the American story was written by people just like you and I, who love our country and take risks to build a future for our families and neighbors.
I may be Cuban-born, but I am 100% American. This is the greatest country in the world. I said this before. I gave away everything I have today, it would not equal 1% of what I was given when I came to this great country of ours: The gift of Freedom.
Right now it is up to us to decide our fate and to choose freedom over oppression.
President Trump is fighting the forces of anarchy and communism. And I know he will continue to do just that. And what about his opponent? And the rest of the DC swamp? I have no doubt they will hand the country over to those dangerous forces.
You and I will decide.
And here is what I’ve decided. My decision is very easy. I choose President Trump because I choose America.

Night one of the Democratic National Convention saw only two interruptions from CNN, both of which were commercial breaks. But come Monday, night one of the Republican National Convention, CNN suddenly had a lot more to say; disrupting that convention a total of six times. Two of them were for commercial breaks and the rest featured their Zuckerville collective whining about the speakers; not even fact-checking just complaining.
Following the first commercial break, the first interruption to feature any so-called “analysis” saw chief political correspondent Dana Bash whining about a video of Trump speaking with health care professionals about the coronavirus. “Well, first of all, Wolf, they were really not socially distant, not wearing masks, standing there talking,” she nitpicked, ignoring the fact they were all tested.
She further complained (click “expand”):
Still, it is pretty telling that the focus for the President’s very first appearance at this convention was the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more people in America than in any other country in the world.
Now, we’ve heard President Trump say the virus will disappear, and we have it under control. Well, tonight it was really clear that they’re acknowledging what sources have told me for some time that allies have been pushing the President to recognize, this coronavirus is where he is the most vulnerable and it is the dominant issue in this race. Wolf.
CNN then went to a commercial break.
After the speech from former prosecutor and Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, then interrupted again to have shoddy CNN host Jake Tapper mock the speech. He also lied about the tone of the evening, suggesting there was nothing positive or optimistic about it so far and it was only for the base (Click “expand”):
You know, I can’t help but think that so much of this convention so far is great for Donald Trump’s base. And yet with a couple of exceptions is not even remotely reaching out to any voters in the middle.
We’ve heard a lot of grievance really this evening. Some of them perhaps understandable, but we’ve heard from somebody who hates unions. We’re heard from somebody who hates Democratic leadership in Baltimore. We heard from the McCloskeys in St. Louis who certainly don’t like the ‘Black Lives Matter protesters. But we have yet to really hear much in terms of the positive, optimistic, hopeful message we were told.
After the stunning speech by Cuban immigrant Maximo Alvarez, Tapper broke in not to talk about the man who just spoke but to snipe at upcoming speakers, particularly former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Senator Tim Scott (R-SC).
Speaking of how they could be the future of the Republican Party, Tapper chided: “Senator Scott and Ambassador Haley bring some measure of stature and, of course, diversity that Republicans are so eager to put on display at this and every convention. Both of them defenders of the President who have shown an occasional willingness to call him out politely as they carefully navigate their own political futures.” He also sneered at Donald trump Jr.
And following Trump Jr.’s address, Tapper’s immediate reaction was to criticize:
Yeah. You know, I’m struck by the fact that usually when a family member of the president speaks at a convention, it’s to provide testimony as to how caring and loving that individual is. And certainly President Trump is somebody who is perceived as having a significant empathy gap with Joe Biden. But we really didn’t hear anything along those lines from the President’s oldest son just now about what kind of dad he was, what he’s like behind the scenes.
Tapper also lied and claimed the GOP was not the party of free speech. “We have seen President Trump chase out any number of Republican senators and congressmen, whether Mark Sanford in South Carolina, or Jeff Flake in Arizona, Bob Corker in Tennessee, for offering even vague criticism of the President’s policies and the President’s tone at times,” he claimed.
But back in reality, those men left the party of their own accord. There were plenty of Republican lawmakers who have criticized the President and stay in office and the party. Senator Lindsey Graham had butted heads with the President and still has his ear, that’s not to mention Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).
So far, CNN was off to a terrible start for the week of the Republican National Convention.
CNN’s first two interruptions were made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from ADT Security Services, HomeAdviser, and a Biden campaign ad. The contact information for those companies is linked so you can tell them about what they’re funding.

WOLF BLITZER: The first appearance tonight from President Trump. Dana, your reaction.
DANA BASH: Well, first of all, Wolf, they were really not socially distant, not wearing masks, standing there talking.
Still, it is pretty telling that the focus for the President’s very first appearance at this convention was the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more people in America than in any other country in the world.
Now, we’ve heard President Trump say the virus will disappear, and we have it under control. WOLF: Very, very forceful speech, Jake, from Kimberly Guilfoyle.
JAKE TAPPER: Forceful is one word for it.
[Laughter]
You know, I can’t help but think that so much of this convention so far is great for Donald Trump’s base. And yet with a couple of exceptions is not even remotely reaching out to any voters in the middle.
We’ve heard a lot of grievance really this evening. Some of them perhaps understandable, but we’ve heard from somebody who hates unions. We’re heard from somebody who hates Democratic leadership in Baltimore. We heard from the McCloskey’s in St. Louis who certainly don’t like the ‘Black Lives Matter protesters. But we have yet to really hear much in terms of the positive, optimistic, hopeful message we were told.

TAPPER: An emotional appeal by Cuban immigrant Maximo Alvarez.
We are now just minutes away from the headline speeches of the evening, from the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, from the President’s son Donald Trump Jr., and then Republican Senator Tim Scott.
They could all offer a glimpse of the Republican Party’s future after President Trump, whether that’s in January, 2021, or January 2025. Senator Scott and Ambassador Haley bring some measure of stature and, of course, diversity that Republicans are so eager to put on display at this and every convention. Both of them defenders of the President who have shown an occasional willingness to call him out politely as they carefully navigate their own political futures.
Donald Trump Jr., of course, brings something very different to the mix. While he lacks gravitas, he pulls no punches, he is as eager as his father is, if not more so to spread lies and obscenely false accusations about his opponents. That’s made him something of a rock star among the MAGA crowd.
(…)
10:36:57 p.m. Eastern
WOLF: The President’s son Donald Trump Jr. making a strong case for his dad to get re-elected. Also, Jake, making a very, very strong, very negative argument, very dark vision for America if Biden is elected.
TAPPER: Yeah.
It was really a political speech that could have been given by anybody in the Trump administration. And it was also odd, I felt, because he talked about how anybody is welcome in the Republican Party, the Republican Party is the party of free speech, but anybody who has been following the Trump administration knows that critics of President Trump’s, Dana, are not particularly welcome in the Republican Party.
We have seen President Trump chase out any number of Republican senators and congressmen, whether Mark Sanford in South Carolina, or Jeff Flake in Arizona, Bob Corker in Tennessee, for offering even vague criticism of the President’s policies and the President’s tone at times. So, it is not the free speech party.

This is how you KNOW night one of the Republican National Convention was a GREAT SUCCESS!
Former DNC Chair Donna Brazile absolutely lost it this morning on FOX and Friends during her interview with conservative talker Tammy Bruce.
After Tammy Bruce described the clear difference in the two parties in America — DNC Convention focus on American sins versus RNC focus on hope, gratitude and growth — Donna Brazile LOST IT!
Brazile went straight to “400 years of slavery” after Tammy spoke of the Democrat Party refusal to condemn the young Democrats rioting and looting in the streets.
Brazile then went on to say Joe Biden was speaking to everyday Americans during the DNC convention. When?
Brazile lost it.
This must be how most Democrats are feeling today.
Day One was a HUGE success!
A video published to social media on Tuesday appears to show Black Lives Matter (BLM) rioters attacking a man in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as he tried to defend a charitable association with a fire extinguisher.
“Looters assault an older business owner trying to defend his business in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 24, 2020,” read the caption of the video posted to Twitter on Tuesday.
In the video, the man can be seen at the entrance to Danish Brotherhood Lodge 14 — a charitable society that was set on fire by rioters on Monday — with a fire extinguisher, which he then uses to spray at rioters in an attempt to drive them away from the building.
Watch below:
The Danish Brotherhood Lodge can be identified by the archway of the building in the video, which matches photos of the lodge on Google.
“Dude I’m gonna help this guy, I don’t give a fuck if I get beat up,” says the individual who is records the incident.
As the man sprays rioters — who are actively looting — with the fire extinguisher, he is then punched in the head from behind from another individual, causing him to fall to the ground, bleeding from the head.
In the next clip, it appears that Good Samaritans have arrived on the scene to assist the man while a crowd has formed around them.
“We are trying to protect ourselves,” argues one apparent Black Lives Matter protester in the video, as the Good Samaritans assists the injured man.
“You don’t understand what terrifies these black men out here, they not making it home to their families,” the protester adds. “Understand, respect, how about that? It’s called respect.”
During the last few days, rioters have taken to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where they looted the city’s businesses as gunshots rang out across the city. Rioters also shot industrial-strength fireworks and hurled dozens of bottles and other objects at National Guard troops who were stationed in front of a courthouse.
The violence that ensued across Kenosha was triggered by an incident on Sunday in which police officers shot a black man seven times from behind as he allegedly refused a lawful order to stop and allegedly attempted to gain entry to a vehicle.
Breitbart News has reached out to the Danish Brotherhood Lodge 14 for comment.
Amazon Prime Video did not offer a live stream of the Republican National Convention during primetime on Monday after it livestreamed all four nights of the Democratic National Convention last week.
The RNC blackout meant that Amazon Prime subscribers couldn’t watch the first night of the convention through the Prime Video mobile app or through Fire TV devices. Breitbart News made multiple attempts to search for a primetime RNC livestream on Amazon but only found archived RNC footage from earlier in the day.
Multiple Amazon Prime subscribers took to social media to complain about the RNC blackout Monday evening. Amazon’s official customer service Twitter account said that its RNC livestream for Monday covered the period from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Searching for RNC coverage on Amazon also proved to be more difficult than searching for DNC footage. A search for the term “DNC” brought up Amazon’s livestreams from all four days of the Democratic National Convention last week, while an “RNC” search failed to return anything related to Monday’s convention.
Users had to use the full search term “Republican National Convention” to find anything RNC-related.
Amazon, which did not respond to a request for comment from Breitbart News, has had a long-standing feud with President Donald Trump over issues including taxes and the U.S. Postal Service. The commander in chief is currently warring with Amazon, accusing Jeff Bezos’ company of using the U.S. Postal Service as a cheap delivery mechanism for its packages.
Last week, President Trump tore into Amazon in an interview on Fox News.
“Amazon and other companies like it, they come and they drop all of their mail into a post office,” the president said in an interview on Fox News’ Fox & Friends. “They drop packages into the post office by the thousands and then they say, ‘Here, you deliver them.’ We lose $3 and $4 a package on average. We lose massive amounts of money.”
The company is also fighting the Trump administration over a $10 billion cloud computing Pentagon contract that the White House awarded to competitor Microsoft.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos also owns the far-left Washington Post, which has positioned itself as an anti-Trump outlet.
CNN’s Sunday Show host Brian Stelter attacked Republicans before their convention even started.
Stelter, a committed CNN liberal, praised the DNC Convention last week where speakers were “largely accurate.” This was after an entire week of deluded people who believe Europe is to blame for the China virus, the Black Lives Matter riots are “mostly peaceful” and Governor Andrew Cuomo is a hero for his handling of the coronavirus!
Brian Stelter: At the RNC Convention starting Monday we can expect a grievance convention where speakers will rant and rave against the media. We know that there are going to be right-wing celebrities, speaking at this virtual or partially in person convention. I think we can expect sadly misinformation about voting which is going to put news outlets in tough positions about when to interrupt, when to fact-check and how. There’s also going to probably be headlines about COVID-19 and safety concerns… There are discussions in news rooms about how to handle what is likely to be a stream of lying.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) approved a resolution repudiating the disgraced Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the purported “anti-hate” organization that has become a vehicle for smearing conservatives and critics of radical leftism.
The resolution commits the RNC to officially “Refuting the legitimacy of the Southern Poverty Law Center to identify hate groups.”
The SPLC bills itself as an expert on “hate groups,” maintaining a “hate map” that tracks them around the country. However, the SPLC has repeatedly added mainstream conservative organizations to its list, smearing their reputation and allowing violent far-left criminals to locate and target them.
The RNC resolution notes that the SPLC’s smears “puts conservative groups or voices at risk of attack.”
Conservatives and critics of progressivism that have been smeared by the SPLC include the Family Research Council (which is currently part of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom), the Alliance Defending Freedom, White House speechwriter Stephen Miller, One America News reporter Jack Posobiec, moderate Muslim Maajid Nawaz, and Islam critic Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
In 2012, far-left radical Floyd Corkins used the SPLC’s “hate map” to locate the offices of the Family Research Council.
He proceeded to the FRC’s offices with a loaded pistol, and opened fire on the office’s security staff before being stopped by an armed guard.
He later told authorities that he planned to kill “as many people as he could” at the FRC, and explained that his crime was politically motivated — he had seen the FRC on the SPLC’s list of “anti-gay” organizations.
Court records submitted by the FBI confirmed that Corkins, a former far-left activist, had indeed checked the SPLC website prior to his attack:
Corkins left and returned the next day, Friday, August 10th, to pick up the pistol. The selection and surveillance of the FRC and other targets. Consistent with his statement to the FBI, a subsequent search of Corkins’s family computer revealed that on the afternoon of Sunday, August 12th, Corkins used the computer to visit the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Website, as well as the Websites for the FRC and the second organization on his handwritten list.
Despite the fact that the SPLC has lost defamation lawsuits and has served as an inspiration for acts of domestic terror, major corporations continue to rely on it to identify “hate groups” and “hate speech.” In 2018, the Daily Caller revealed that Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Twitter all work with the discredited far-left organization.
The full text of the RNC’s resolution can be found here, and is copied below:
WHEREAS, The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a far-left organization with an obvious
bias;
WHEREAS, The SPLC makes a practice of incorrectly labeling persons and organizations as
“hate groups”;
WHEREAS, The actions of the SPLC have served to mobilize persons to act in hate and violence
towards those on its “hate group” list;
WHEREAS, The Family Research Council suffered a violent attack due to its support of the
traditional family, which the SPLC has deemed as hateful;
WHEREAS, The Obama Administration legitimized the SPLC and acted upon their request that
the federal government formally identify individuals and organizations as “hate groups;”;
WHEREAS, The SPLC was further legitimized when the Obama-Biden Administration gave
them the ability to provide input to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS); and
WHEREAS, Legitimizing the SPLC puts conservative groups or voices at risk of attack;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the SPLC is a radical organization, and that the federal government should
not view this organization as a legitimate foundation equipped to provide actionable information
to DHS or any other government agency
