An activist accused people upset over the recent looting in downtown Chicago of being upset about the wrong thing during a recent press conference.
“People are worried about looting and there are literal lives being taken away? There are people who are dying and y’all are mad about looting Mag Mile? Get over it!” Alycia Moaton said at the event hosted by the group GoodKids MadCity.
She continued:
These buildings are insured. Materials will come back, but we will not come back if they kill us. What do y’all not get about that? Gucci, Apple store, whatever it is, that stuff can be replaced. But we won’t be replaced. We lose our lives every single day for this cause, and y’all are mad about the wrong shit.
On what appeared to be her Twitter profile, Moaton described herself as a “mad abolitionist” and a member of GoodKids MadCity.
The looting and rioting in downtown Chicago on August 10 lasted nearly five hours, according to Breitbart News.
At the press conference, Moaton also referenced a protest on August 15 when police arrested multiple individuals and several officers were injured once the event turned violent, according to Fox 32.
“Y’all want to know what makes a protest not peaceful? Police officers. Y’all want to know what makes a protest not peaceful? Pepper spray, batons, tear gas,” Moaton said, then accused officers of pushing people off bikes and hitting them in the head.
She stated:
I was arrested and I wasn’t told what I was arrested for until five hours later in the holding cell. I was not given my rights. I was not able to talk to anybody for almost eight hours. They put 16 people in one cell during a pandemic. These officers are not wearing masks inside of this police station. I was touched inappropriately before my arrest, after, in this station. And other people can attest to that statement. Also, all of my friends were also locked up last night trying to protect me.
Moaton then accused police of “misgendering people” and claimed that “Sexual violence happened in this station last fucking night.”
She also claimed Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) sent Chicago police officers to protests and rallies to “attack us and pepper spray and do all this extra stuff to youth.”
“This is a fight that’s never-ending. It’s a fight that’s been going on way before anybody who’s been here, so that means it’s not gonna stop. We’re gonna keep it going,” she concluded.
An innocent bystander is paralyzed and may never walk again after being struck by a stray bullet Wednesday during a New York City shooting in broad daylight.
The Daily Mailreports that 33-year-old Sam Metcalfe was shot and is paralyzed as a result.
Metcalfe was not the the intended target, and he was only out near the street because he wanted to hold an umbrella for his wife, Sabrina. Gunfire erupted as Metcalfe and Sabrina walked across the street, leaving him with one kidney so damaged that it had to be removed.
The New York Postquoted Metcalfe’s sister in law, Krista Zigorski, saying, “Almost immediately, [he] couldn’t feel his legs. We now know that the bullet hit his kidney and stopped when it hit his spine.”
The intended target in the shooting, 18-year-old Malcolm Amede, was struck by at least two bullets and killed.
Mayor Bill de Blasio’s (D) New York City has witnessed surging gun violence this year, with over 50 shot, seven fatally, between last Thursday and the end of Sunday in the city.

The primary in Detroit, Michigan, was so poorly counted that one member of the State Board of Canvassers even asked whether Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson should get involved in November. The board also suggested an investigation into what went wrong.
The Detroit News reported that all “four members of the State Board of Canvassers on Friday blasted problems with counting ballots in Detroit’s primary election as ‘alarming’ and ‘concerning.” Two of the board members are Republicans, one of whom, Norm Shinkle, called for an investigation into the problems the city had counting ballots in the primary.
“I think we need an investigation with a conclusion that somebody else is going to run that election or not,” Shinkle told the outlet.
The Detroit News reported Thursday that Wayne County election data “showed 72% of the absentee voting precincts in Michigan’s largest city had ballot counts that were out of balance by at least one vote for the Aug. 4. primary.” As the outlet explained, this “means the number of voters tracked in precinct poll books did not match the number of ballots counted.”
The outlet further reported that 46% of Detroit’s precincts were out of balance when counting absentee and Election Day votes. The problem is nothing new, as the city also failed to accurately count vote totals in 2015, with 59% of precincts showing out-of-balance totals.

In 2017, then-Secretary of State Ruth Johnson ordered that the state help retrain election workers and provide other assistance to correct what a Michigan Bureau of Elections audit of 136 Detroit precincts called “significant discrepancies” in votes and “an abundance of human errors.”
Having balanced precincts is particularly important in Michigan because precincts whose poll books don’t match with ballots can’t be recounted, according to state law.
The Board of State Canvassers was scheduled to certify the statewide results of the Aug. 4 primary on Friday but the virtual meeting stopped after about 30 minutes because of technical issues. The board scheduled a new meeting for 10 a.m. Monday.
Julie Matuzak, a Democrat on the board, called the problems in Detroit “appalling” and suggested a call to the community to recruit new precinct workers.
Detroit Clerk Janice Winfrey blamed the primary issues on the fact that there weren’t enough election workers on primary day, forcing some to work more than 20 hours. She also asked the state legislature to allow absentee ballots to be processed before election day to cut down on the number of ballots needed to be counted after the election.
Winfrey also noted, The Detroit News reported, that the ballot totals were three or fewer ballots off.
President Donald Trump has warned of dangers involved with widespread mail-in ballots. Some Democrats have called for increased absentee ballots, while some have suggested simply mailing ballots to all homes, which would allow for significant fraud and uncertainty.
Trump won Michigan by less than 10,000 votes.

“Every man is a consumer, and ought to be a producer,” observed 19th century philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson.
“He is by constitution expensive, and needs to be rich.”
These days Emerson’s critical insight is being taken to its extreme. Consumers, many whom lost their jobs due to government lockdown orders, no longer produce. Yet they still consume. They’re expensive. Not rich.
What’s more, this consumption is not funded through personal savings. Nor is it funded through government transfer payments. Rather, it’s funded via the printing press.
Emerson, no doubt, was lacking in the unique perspective we’re presently granted. He didn’t have the special opportunity to watch his government destroy the economy in short order. Perhaps if he had, he would have penned a neat axiom to distill the essence of what has happened.
The world today looks nothing like Emerson’s day. The 19th century was an age of honest money. Central bankers did not roam the land.
Printing money to buy bonds and stocks, and to sprinkle on people, would have been quickly dismissed. The experience of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution, and their over issuance of paper “continentals”, had shown that resorting to the printing press was an act of suicide.
Currently, printing press money is considered enlightened central banking policy. Inflation targets, zero interest rate policy (ZIRP), direct bond purchases, twisting the yield curve, unlimited credit. This is merely a partial list of the trouble central bankers are up to.
Despite all the well-meaning intentions they may have, the efforts of central bankers in 2020, let alone the 21st century, have been a disaster. Where to begin…
Pure Arrogance
During the Great Recession, money supply expansion was mainly restricted to financial markets via ZIRP and Treasury purchases. Stocks, bonds, and real estate prices increased much faster than worker incomes. Financial assets holders, mainly the rich, got the nirvana of Fed inflated wealth. Wage earners and savers got exactly squat.
Money supply expansion for the 2020 bailouts, as initiated by the Fed’s Primary and Secondary Market Corporate Credit Facilities (PMCCF and SMCCF), also puffed up financial assets. However, in addition to financial markets, the 2020 bailouts, as initiated under the CARES Act, directed bailout funds into the real economy through stimulus and unemployment checks. The intent of this money served to compensate for spending lost from mass unemployment and business closures.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the consumer price index (CPI) increased 1 percent over the last 12 months. Here at the Economic Prism we’d prefer a stable money supply and no price inflation. But what do we know. We don’t think like central planners.
Central planners, of just the right academic pedigree, want an expanding money supply. They also want moderate price inflation – 1 percent per year is not nearly enough – to ease an ever expanding debt burden. These are things they want. And they think they know just how to get them.
These smart and clever fellows think that with the right market interventions, programs, and policies, they can target just the right price inflation. This line of thinking, while it may make for interesting academic fodder, is pure arrogance.
Your Figuring Central Planners At Work
The central planners never hit their inflation targets. But, in spraying the economy with birdshot, they cause massive disruption. This aside, assuming the central planners at the Fed could target price inflation, what rate of inflation would they precisely pinpoint?
This exact question is what the spoon benders at the Fed have spent the better part of the past year figuring. In fact, they are currently working overtime so they can provide their answer in a forthcoming policy initiative. Fed Chair Powell said they’d have it all wrapped up “in the near future.” From what we gather, it’ll be hitting the press sometime in September.
What in the world will this new policy initiative include? Will it be something radical? Will a new era of dollar debasement be upon us?
We’ll have to wait and see. But in the interim, several hints have been offered. Here’s Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan, after consulting the person in the mirror:
“I would be willing to see inflation run moderately above 2 percent in the aftermath of periods where we’ve been running persistently below.”
Prior to joining the Dallas Fed, Kaplan was a Senior Associate Dean and the Martin Marshall Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business School. Before that he spent over 20 years at Goldman Sachs – doing God’s work.
Between 2011 and 2015, Kaplan wrote a series of books titled: What to Ask the Person in the Mirror. What You’re Really Meant to Do. What You Really Need to Lead.
It really is too bad he never wrote a book titled: How to Not Be a Moron. He may have found the endeavor helpful. Because just after revealing his willingness “to see inflation run moderately above 2 percent,” Kaplan, a moron, wafted this sulfurous equivocation:
“I’m not making a commitment of what we’re going to do, I’m basically suggesting a tendency or likelihood, but it’s going to be subject to conditions we find and we’re going to have to adapt to those conditions.”
There you have it, folks. Your figuring central planners at work.

A lot of us carry a handgun every day. We do it to protect ourselves and our family against the small chance that things go wrong.
Part of carrying a weapon is getting over that initial fear of the weapon. Another fear we have is whether we’ll be able to perform in that split second. That’s why we train and train — and train some more.
Once you get over those fears, there’s another fear a lot of us have: The legal side of using our weapon.
Sometimes, the legal system doesn’t work the way it should. Some people even say the legal system is biased against responsible gun owners.
If there’s a mistake and you get arrested, you’ll be taken to jail while they figure things out. The wheels of justice turn slow. If you don’t have a defense attorney and bail money ready, you could sit in jail for a long time.
And then, there’s the risk you’ll be criminally charged by a corrupt prosecutor. Prosecutors could bring charges that would cost you as much as $100,000 or more to defend against. Even if you’d win, you’d have to pay those legal fees. Sometimes, people can’t afford it – they’ll take a plea bargain and go to jail instead.
But it can get even worse because there’s also civil liability – a bleeding heart jury that doesn’t like guns could decide to give $200,000 of your money to the mother of a thug.
Thankfully, there are now a handful of groups that offer gun owners financial protection. The USCCA is one that does a great job for minimal cost. It’s been growing because of its great service and now has over 400,000 members.
“I was forced to shoot a man in self-defense. I did everything right…and was charged with first-degree murder. I called the USCCA and they went right to work. Since then, my case has been dismissed and labeled as self-defense. My advice: Don’t carry a firearm without protection from the aftermath of possibly having to use it. Thanks, USCCA!”

Actor and climate change alarmist Harrison Ford flew his 19-year-old son off to college on a carbon emissions-pumping private jet this week, according to a report by Just Jared, which says the Indiana Jones actor, his son, and wife Calista Flockhart were seen exiting the jet in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Harrison Ford flying hundreds of miles on greenhouse gas-spewing jet flies in the face of his constant climate change alarmism. Earlier this year — while in in Mexico City to promote his latest film — Ford praised teenage climate worrier Greta Thunberg and trashed the United States, claiming that the nation has lost its “moral leadership” on issues such as improving the environment and immigration policy.

“We need moral leadership,” Ford told reporters. “We’ve lost some of our credibility and we are anxious to regain it.”
Last year, the Star Wars star demanded that the world “get the hell out” of Thunberg’s way, stating that saving the Amazon rainforest is crucial to any climate change solution and that young climate activists represent the “moral army” who will make a difference.
Ford has also lectured to “people who who don’t believe in science or, worse than that, pretend they don’t believe in science,” claiming that we have run out of time to save the planet from global warming. “We are shit out of time,” said Ford, who himself flies around on his own private jet, emitting carbon dioxide.
Ford, who is a licensed pilot, was recently the subject of an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for making an error while operating an aircraft at a Los Angeles airport a few months ago. Ford cause panic after a tower operator’s instruction to “hold short” went unnoticed on the runway due to oncoming traffic as Ford continued to move his aircraft onto the taxiway.
New evidence has emerged which shows that UK hospital admissions for COVID-19 were ‘over-reported’ during the height of the crisis back in April. It seems that patients who were being taken in for other common illnesses were in fact being counted as ‘COVID’ in the government’s statistical totals.
This latest embarrassing admission comes on the heels of other similar revelations of dubious record-keeping by the government – all of which have been pivotal in giving the false impression to the public that there were more COVID deaths than actually took place. Back in July, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock was forced to admit how data from Public Health England regarding coronavirus fatalities were being fraudulently recorded – effectively ‘double counting’ their deaths, forcing the government officials to revise their totals downwards to reflect more realist numbers.
This latest ‘COVID counting’ scandal in the area of hospital admissions shows why the these numbers are crucial in how government policies are sold to the public. Professor Carl Heneghan, director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine (CEBM) at Oxford University said, “The admissions data is a crucial point. I’d say it is more important than the death data because it is the best marker of the impact of the disease.”
This widespread practice of exaggerating COVID casualty numbers appears to have aided the government in justifying its shaky position on to imposing draconian ‘lockdown’ measures and school closures, as well as to hype the imminent release of a COVID ‘miracle’ vaccine which the UK government has been developing in partnership with pharmaceutical firms like AstaZeneca and its vaccine financiers at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Hospital admissions for Covid-19 were over-reported at the peak of the pandemic, with patients who were taken in for other illnesses being included in outbreak statistics, it has emerged.
An investigation for the Government’s Science Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) found that people were being counted as Covid hospital admissions if they had ever had the virus, and were added to those being admitted directly due to it.
Government figures show that, at the peak of the pandemic in early April, nearly 20,000 people a week were being admitted to hospital with coronavirus (see graph below), but the true figure is unknown because of the problem with over-counting.
Professor Graham Medley, of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, asked by Sage to look into the situation, told The Telegraph: “By June, it was becoming clear that people were being admitted to hospital for non-Covid reasons who had tested positive many weeks before…
