MSNBC’s Mitchell Invites Chicago Mayor to Blame Trump for City’s Soaring Gun Violence

The media continues to tread lightly around Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, carefully avoiding putting any blame on the Democrat for her city’s soaring gun violence. Tuesday afternoon Lightfoot appeared on Andrea Mitchell Reports, where she was not only given a pass, but encouraged to pin the blame on President Trump instead.
“I want to also ask you about the violence this past weekend in Chicago, at least 60 shootings,” host Andrea Mitchell began.
Demonstrating how professional she is, the MSNBC journalist rolled her eyes as she whined that President Trump had compared the murder-torn city to a war-zone:
“The president jumped all over this, comparing it to — saying the city is worse than Afghanistan,” she complained. The journalist notably didn’t put ANY blame or pressure on Lightfoot, as the leader of her city. Instead she asked sympathetically what her “reaction” was to Trump’s tweet, as she’s “trying to come to grips with all of this.”
Even without being prompted by the media, a Democrat politician’s knee-jerk reaction to any problem they face is to blame the President. So of course Lightfoot took the easy way out that Mitchell so helpfully offered.
To nicely round out her blame-game, Lightfoot even got to make a pitch for Joe Biden:
LIGHTFOOT: Well, look, if you go back over many years, President Trump has said a lot of disparaging things about the city of Chicago. He likes to use us as a political punching bag. But if the president was really committed to helping us deal with our violence, he would do some easy things. One is, he would push for universal background checks. He would push for an assault weapons ban. He would push to make sure that people who were banned from getting on airplanes can’t get guns. This is the kind of thing that federal leadership can do. But as long as we are challenged with having states surrounding us, notably Indiana, that has very lax gun laws, where somebody can drive across the border and literally load up a vehicle with military grade weapons and bring them back to the city of Chicago, we’re going to continue to be challenged. We’re doing an all-hands-on-deck strategy. We’re focusing on the root causes of the violence. But fundamentally we have too many illegal guns on our street and that is a direct result of a failure of federal leadership, which is why we need change in November. We need the kind of leadership that Joe Biden is going to bring to our country.
After this, no pushback from Mitchell. “Mayor Lightfoot, thank you very much, thank you, in the midst of everything that’s happening there, to be with us today. We really appreciate it,” she said to close the interview.
Lightfoot was allowed to deflect blame on CNN last week too. As was New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, whose city saw the worst gun violence in 25 years, the July 4 weekend.

Report: Ex-Editor Calls Out Wikipedia for Its War Against Mark Levin

A former Wikipedia editor blasted Wikipedia for not being neutral, and slammed the platform for a multi-year scorched-earth campaign against popular conservative talk radio host Mark Levin.
A massive exposé accusing Wikipedia of having biased editors was put out by Breitbart News. “Localemediamonitor” and “Snooganssnoogans,” according to Breitbart, have been allowed to run rampant on conservative Wikipedia entries. That included their jihad against Levin.
The banned Wikipedia editor wrote at Breitbart under the alias T.D. Adler. He noted Wikipedia’s failure to stop this had massive consequences. “Negative material added by both editors eventually found its way to news coverage of Levin, particularly around the time his show at Fox News was announced and premiered,” wrote Adler. A staff writer from the Forward, Nathan Guttman, admitted to Adler that he “probably uses Wikipedia when researching articles.”
The Breitbart article asserted that “editors on Wikipedia began to attack Levin’s credibility through edits to his page on the site.” That happened after he had criticized the “police-state tactics” of the Obama administration for using intercepts and FISA warrants. The article summarized how this had consequences which even now are shaking up politics:
The criticism, which allegedly prompted President Donald Trump’s controversial wire-tapping allegations, has since been vindicated by revelations about widespread falsehoods in FISA warrants issued against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, seen now as part of a broader Obamagate scandal. A number of attacks on Levin eventually ended up in news articles shortly before and after the premiere of his show on Fox News.
Levin has squared off against Wikipedia before. Breitbart recounted that in 2018 Levin broadcasted an entire segment reading from his slanted Wikipedia entry and lamenting how Wikipedia is a place “where people who hate you … can go into your page and poison it.”
One of the Wikipedia editors, Localemediamonitor, was criticized by Levin for adding two parts to Levin’s Wikipedia page. According to Breitbart, those included: “a paragraph about a hoax caller to Levin’s show and a line about Levin characterizing Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) as a ‘radical Marxist who believes in violence.’” Levin noted on his show that this particular remark was in the context of the Alexandria terrorist shooting targeting Republican congressmen by a former Sanders campaign volunteer.
Adler highlighted how editors like “Localemediamonitor" are still allowed on the platform, despite a history of biased edits and occasional slaps on the wrist such as having edits removed:
Localemediamonitor, the most active in adding negative content to Levin’s page, has made only about 500 edits. Most of those edits are about radio personalities, particularly conservatives such as Dennis Prager of PragerU, and are overwhelmingly negative.
Another far-left Wikipedia editor “Snooganssnoogans” has reportedly “been sanctioned previously for his editing of pages on conservatives.” Yet even so, he has been allowed to keep making edits on the platform. Far from being a politically neutral platform, it can only be so fairly sourced when left-wing ideologues take it upon themselves to undo vast amounts of edits they appear to personally disagree with. Adler noted:
Later in 2018, when an editor tried to remove some of the smears on Levin’s page, Snooganssnoogans repeatedly undid the user’s edits well in excess of what is allowed by Wikipedia policy in order to keep the material in the article, but faced no sanctions for his behavior.
The Breitbart article described a massive argument where Snooganssnoogans actively stopped other editors from showing positive reviews that a book by Levin received:
i’ve removed these reviews. the other editor refuses to accurately describe these reviews, thus misleading readers into thinking this book has received mixed reviews when in fact it’s been panned by nonpartisan reviewers at RS but lauded by partisans for non-RS.
Snooganssnoogans also tried to accuse Levin, who is Jewish, of enabling anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. He intimated that a critique of liberal billionaire mega-donor George Soros was a statement of anti-Semitic hatred of Jewish people:
Levin falsely claimed that the Hungarian-American philantrophist [[George Soros]], who is the subject of a wide range of right-wing and anti-Semitic conspiracies, was involved in funding the whistleblower and the whistleblower’s lawyers.
Adler painted a grim picture of why the media, academia, and Big Tech are so wildly biased today. He suggested that “Reliance on Wikipedia by news outlets, scientific literature, and Big Tech, has made it a popular target for editors looking to push an agenda.”
Even Wikipedia founder Larry Sanger has lamented how far the platform has fallen in recent years due to radical leftist political bias. In his personal blog, he commented that “Wikipedia no longer has an effective neutrality policy.”
Levin quickly acknowledged Breitbart’s piece on his Twitter account “for spending a great deal of time analyzing Wikipedia’s years’ long smears, lies, and spin campaign against my character and career. Thank you!”

Ilhan Omar’s Payments to Husband’s Firm Hit $1 Million in 2020 Cycle

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) continues to dish out six-figure payments to her husband’s firm, which has now received more than $1 million from her campaign this cycle.

Federal Election Commission records released Tuesday afternoon show that Omar’s campaign funneled $228,384.93 last quarter to the E Street Group, a D.C.-based consulting firm run by the congresswoman’s husband, Tim Mynett. The payments, predominantly for digital and fundraising services, bring the total that Omar’s campaign has sent to Mynett’s firm to just over $1 million for the 2020 cycle.

Omar, a freshmen congresswoman, has faced scrutiny over numerous financial and personal issues since she was elected in 2018. She has drawn criticism for a lack of transparency about her previous marriages, over campaign finance violations, and for a potential violation of House ethics rules pertaining to the advance she received on a recently published memoir. Pressed for answers, she has routinely dismissed the inquiries as "smears" and "conspiracy theories."

Mynett’s firm is the top vendor for Omar’s campaign, which doled out $521,000 between April 1 and June 30 with Mynett’s share accounting for 44 percent of that total.

The financial relationship between Mynett and Omar began before the two announced they were married this March, but it is unclear how long the two were romantically linked before they tied the knot. Omar denied the two were romantically involved, but Mynett’s then-wife alleged in divorce papers that the two were having an affair.

Omar refused to answer questions about her relationship with her campaign’s top vendor. "I have no interest in allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it," she said last year. Her earliest payment to Mynett’s firm came in August 2018, during her first run for federal office.

The newly released filings also show that Omar’s Democratic primary opponent, Antone Melton-Meaux, drastically outraised her in the second quarter, bringing in $3.2 million to Omar’s $471,000.

Omar’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the payments.

Lincoln Surrenders: Anti-GOP Group Caves to Woke Mob in Bid to Avoid Getting Canceled by Left-Wing Allies

The Lincoln Project, a super PAC founded by failed Republican operatives whose support for Democratic candidates in 2020 has made them darlings of the #Resistance, is trying to avoid getting canceled by its liberal allies.

These anti-cancellation efforts involve cutting ties with affiliates who dare to behave too much like the group’s founder, adorably indecent Twitter personality Rick Wilson, whose list of political clients includes police advocate Rudy Giuliani, immigration opponent Kris Kobach, and investment banker Evan McMullin.

The pro-Democrat group cut ties with Sophia Nelson, a woman of color, for calling President Trump a "retarded ass." On Tuesday, video editor Ben Howe was excommunicated for old tweets in which he "deployed female anatomy as an insult." The Lincoln Project immediately ended Howe’s affiliation with the group "based on these unacceptable and offensive posts," according to a statement provided to the Washington Post.

Howe used words such as "vagina" and "twat" to attack his critics and once dropped the c-word in what appears to have been an ill-advised joke about feminism. He apologized for the "inexcusable" tweets that had so offended his former employer.

The Lincoln Project’s decision to sever its relationship with Howe is a curious one given its founder’s own history of vulgar tweets. Wilson has routinely "deployed female anatomy" to attack his critics, using terms such as "humorless twat," "anonymous pussy," and "s— talking pussy," among others, often accompanied by a menacing meme or GIF.

Wilson also posted photos on Instagram of a cooler featuring the words, "The South Will Rise Again," along with the Confederate flag, which he described last month as "the traitor’s flag of the loser confederacy." He has not been fired, obviously. Wilson is perhaps best known for a CNN appearance earlier this year in which he made Don Lemon laugh by mocking Republican voters using a thick Southern accent.

Howe’s ouster from the Lincoln Project runs counter to Wilson’s own philosophy on old tweets. During an utterly humiliating appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Wilson was confronted with a tweet he wrote in 2010 about attendees of the left-wing Netroots Nation conference, describing them as "Barack Obama’s bitch" and "pathetic little whores."

Wilson defended himself, in marked contrast with the Lincoln Project’s reaction to Howe’s old tweets. "The fact of the matter is, everyone on Twitter lives in a culture where there’s a lot of fronting and a lot of s— talk," he said. "And not every quote that you have on Twitter from the past is something that you’re going to live with forever."

If you’re struggling to pinpoint a consistent philosophy here, it’s because there is none—apart from the fact that founders are simply less likely to be canceled than video editors. Democratic governors of states such as Virginia, for example, are less likely to suffer consequences for wearing blackface than, say, a random middle-aged woman at a Washington Post party.

The Late Show appearance was a disaster for Wilson, not least because he had presumably anticipated a softball interview that would applaud him for "owning" Donald Trump so hard. Instead, the Lincoln Project was ruthlessly mocked for its founders’ affiliations with the George W. Bush administration and for how much money the group was spending on overhead costs as opposed to political activity.

In any event, it suggests that the Lincoln Project’s mainstream liberal allies aren’t so smitten anymore, and they might not object when the woke mob comes to cancel the group and its anti-Trump associates. It’s only a matter of time, now that Lincoln himself is on the cancellation block.
