Portsmouth, Virginia, councilman Nathan Clark participated in his city’s Second Amendment Sanctuary vote while carrying an AR-15.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that two liberals, Councilman Shannon Glove and Vice Mayor Lisa Lucas-Burke, were critical of Clark’s decision to bring his gun to the vote and asked him to apologize for doing so.
Councilman Bill Moody defended Clark, saying, “I do not believe that Council(man) Clark needs to apologize for exercising his right as a law enforcement officer to carry his weapon to a public meeting. I can appreciate liberals’ knee jerk reactions but if they have a problem with the law they should use the system they now control to change it.”
The AR-15 a Portsmouth councilman wore to a meeting this week stunned two of his peers.
Clark told WTKR he carried the gun openly to show support for gun rights.
He said, “I had a lot of people come and talk to me after it. No one appeared intimidated. There the police officers that were there; they were aware that I had it.”
The council passed the Second Amendment Sanctuary resolution by a vote of 4-3.

According to French political scientist Jérôme Fourquet, the number of newborn males with Arabic or Muslim first names has increased from just one per cent in 1960, to 19 per cent today.
Fourquet noted that the decline in the French birthrate — there were 70,000 fewer children born in 2019 than in 2014 — has led to the growth of Arabic-Muslim names among newborns. He added that “sustained migratory flows, particularly since the beginning of the 2000s”, has also contributed to the trend, Le Figaroreports.
“The study of the prevalence of types of first names among newborns makes it possible in particular to aggregate the strength of legal and illegal migratory flows, because, with some exceptions, all children born on French soil are registered with INSEE [France’s national statistics bureau], even if their parents are illegal,” he added.
France: As Many Muslims as Practising Catholics in 18-29 Year-Old Demographic https://t.co/KdUU5QUgV4
— Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) May 26, 2019
To combat the declining birthrate, Fourquet did not advocate the German model of mass migration but said that France should not “lock ourselves into a binary alternative between natalist policies or the use of immigration”.
“If Germany has favoured immigration, it is because the retirement age is already very high and the unemployment rate is at its lowest (3.5 per cent). France could play on these two levers and in particular on the unemployment rate to significantly increase the number of contributors, before resorting to additional immigration,” he said.
Demographic shifts have also been observed among religious groups in France, with a report released last year showing that there were now as many practising Muslims in the 18- to 29-year-old demographic as practising Roman Catholics.
The demographic changes in France have led to several theories regarding the phenomenon including the theory of the “Great Replacement” by French author Renaud Camus.
A Quarter of French Believe ‘Elites’ Using Mass Migration to ‘Replace’ Native Europeans https://t.co/dr2IQVqPQf
Often dismissed as a conspiracy theory, Camus has claimed that Western elites — the “Davocracy”, named after the participants of World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland — view people as interchangeable things, rather than human beings, for the sake of profit and ideology.
A survey released in February of last year suggested that as many as one-quarter of the French population subscribed to the theory that “elites” were using mass migration to replace European populations.

“Let them talk,” Kimberly Guilfoyle said about Saturday’s “Women’s March,” describing the left-wing and partisan Democrat event as unappealing to Americans and offering her comments in an interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Matt Boyle.
Boyle said, “The other thing we’re going to see later today — and it’s ongoing right now, around D.C. and around the country — is these anti-Trump women’s marches. We’ve seen them every year since he’s been president. It’s orchestrated by the radical left. But it seems like they’re kind of losing support as each year goes by that they do them.”
Guilfoyle replied, “Let them talk. Let the leftist activists [and] the Hollywood crazies talk. Remember that? Madonna and all the rest of them carrying on? The more they talk and say things like that, the more it turns off the American people. You’re always going to have these marches. Let them go out. It’s their constitutional right to be able to go and march and express themselves, but let’s see how many of them actually turn up at the polls. It really seems to be losing steam. It’s more a little bit of show and not any substance.”
LISTEN:
Guilfoyle continued, “When you think about it, what do they have to say? They talk about burning down the White House and how they’re going to leave the country. Well, tick-tock; we’re waiting. It’s not relatable to the hard-working men and women in this country, the people who are actually seeing a benefit in their pocketbook, in their paycheck, [and] in their discretionary spending.”
Democrats’ impeachment push against President Donald Trump has bolstered fundraising for the president’s reelection campaign, said Guilfoyle, who chairs Trump Victory Finance Committee 2020.
“It has been, really, a boon for us in terms of the fundraising that we’ve been able to do–because the American people are tired of it,” Guilfoyle said. “They’re tired of the nonsense.”
“We’re doing call days with Don Jr., with Eric and Lara,” added Guilfoyle, “a bunch of people coming together to make calls across the country — and those are always tremendously successful. The last one we did raised $25 million at the launch when the president announced his kickoff.”
“My new mantra is A-B-B, ‘Always Be Bundling,’” quipped Guilfoyle.
Boyle said, “They have wasted away millions and millions of dollars on the Democrat side. I think Cory Booker wasted something like $14 million on his presidential campaign. Kamala Harris was up there, too.”

The U.S. Navy is planning to name an aircraft carrier after Mess Attendant 2nd Class Doris Miller, the first black man to receive the Navy cross for valor.
The Navy expects to make the announcement on Monday at Pearl Harbor, the Honolulu Star-Advertiserreported.
Miller was honored for using a machine gun on the USS West Virginia to return fire against airplanes during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
The 22-year-old Miller was collecting laundry when the attack alarm went off. A torpedo destroyed his usual battle station so he went on deck to carry wounded sailors to safety before he received orders to aid the severely wounded captain.
“He subsequently manned a 50-cal. Browning anti-aircraft machine gun until he ran out of ammunition and was ordered to abandon ship,” the Navy said, adding that Miller was not trained to use the gun.
Adm. Chester W. Nimitz, the head of the Pacific Fleet, gave the Navy cross to Miller in May 1942 in Pearl Harbor.
Miller died after a Japanese submarine torpedoed the ship he was serving on in November 1943.
The USS Miller, a destroyer escort, has also been named in his honor.
“I think that Doris Miller is an American hero simply because of what he represents as a young man going beyond the call of what’s expected,” said Doreen Ravenscroft, a team leader for the Doris Miller Memorial.
Ravenscroft said Miller’s story was so extraordinary because a black man was not allowed to use a gun in the military in 1941.
“Without him really knowing, he actually was a part of the Civil Rights movement because he changed the thinking in the Navy,” Ravenscroft said.
Two of Miller’s nieces will be on hand to hear the announcement on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this Monday.
Naming an aircraft carrier after an enlisted sailor is a departure from the trend of naming aircraft carriers after U.S. presidents and members of Congress.
“Aircraft carriers are generally named for past U.S. presidents. Of the past 14, 10 were named for past U.S. presidents, and two for members of Congress,” according to a report from the Congressional Research Service.
The Israel boycott-promoting and anti-police Dream Defenders organization has announced it is all in for Sen. Bernie Sanders and will organize across Florida in a bid to help the socialist politician secure the Democratic nomination for president.
Dream Defenders was previously a largely unknown radical Florida group. It received widespread news media attention during the 2018 Florida Gubernatorial race after Breitbart News released a series of exposes about Dream Defenders’ anti-police and anti-Israel activism and its deep ties to failed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum.
Gillum himself is currently engaging in an effort to register 1 million new voters in Florida ahead of the 2020 presidential election in a bid to turn Florida blue. He is working alongside an effort by progressive organizations, many financed by billionaire activist George Soros, to restore voting rights for Florida’s nearly 1.4 million ex-felons as the nation’s biggest swing state seems poised to play a pivotal electoral role in the 2020 presidential race.
The Florida-based Dream Defenders announced it is not only endorsing Sanders but will “be working tirelessly to mobilize young people to the polls this primary” to ensure Sanders is victorious.
Dream Defenders co-founder Philip Agnew stepped away from the organization and is serving as an official national surrogate for Sanders’ presidential campaign.
Dream Defenders set up a “For Bernie” section on its website and is calling for volunteers to help its ground game effort to elect Sanders, exclaiming, “We need all hands on deck.”
Dream Defenders said that Sanders’ “political agenda most aligns with our own,” including the group’s following extreme positions (quoted exactly from their Sanders endorsement page):
Medicare for All.
Guaranteed jobs and housing for anyone who needs it.
A moratorium on all deportations and reuniting of all families who have been separated.
Re-shaping our current immigration system, dismantling ICE and creating a welcoming immigration system for refugees, including those displaced by climate change.
Cutting our military budget (The US currently spends $700 billion/year).
No sanctions on Iran, no war with Iran or US intervention abroad.
Withholding funding to Israel unless it changes its treatment of Palestinians.
The organization’s “For Bernie” mission page went on to attack capitalism. It claimed that “under capitalism, the needs of people and the planet are always secondary to the profit motive. Other candidates are offering BandAid solutions to problems that, without deep economic transformation, will only persist.”
Dream Defenders has engaged in activism to promote the boycott of Israel and espouses anti-patriotic, anti-capitalism, anti-military, and anti-police ideology.
Dream Defenders’ website refers to the entire state of Israel as the “site of a continued settler colonial project,” and laments U.S. military aid to the Jewish state. A large section of the site promotes the group’s anti-Israel activism.
Breitbart News reported Dream Defenders compiled an education tool for U.S. teachers about “liberation” movements that glorifies the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a deadly terrorist organization.
Breitbart News also reported that Dream Defenders organized a flash mob in Israel to officially endorse the anti-Semitic BDS movement targeting the Jewish state.
The organization’s “Freedom Papers” exclaim that “police and prisons have no place in ‘justice.’”
The Dream Defenders “Freedom Papers” also advocate textbook socialist principals such as claiming that “by virtue of being born each of us has the absolute right to adequate food, shelter, clothing, water, healthcare, effective public transportation, dignified work, living wages.”
As Breitbart News reported, a simple perusal of the website of Dream Defenders evidences the group’s open radicalism. The organization calls for an “end” to “disaster capitalism,” rants against Independence Day and spreads anti-Israel charges.

The liberal Guardian covered VaughnGate, arguably the most important news story of the last 48 hours. Actor Vince Vaughn was caught, on camera, meeting President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. That wasn’t all. Vaughn appeared friendly with the Trumps, going so far as to exchange pleasantries during the meeting.
The Supreme Court said Friday it will hear a case over whether presidential electors have to vote in accordance with their states’ popular vote in the Electoral College.
The court said it would take up the case of Chiafalo v. State of Washington, where three so-called “faithless electors” who were fined after voting in 2016 for Colin Powell are challenging whether a state can bind an elector to select the state’s popular vote winner.
In the faithless elector case, advocates for the court’s intervention say the issue needs urgent resolution in an era of intense political polarization and the prospect of a razor-thin margin in a presidential election, although so-called faithless electors have been a footnote so far in American history.
The justices will hear arguments in April and should issue a decision by late June.
Dennis Lemma, who is the Sheriff in Central Florida’s Seminole County, told a group of 2nd Amendment activists recently that he would not enforce an assault weapons ban that could soon become Florida law if the “Ban Assault Weapons Now” amendment passes in the Sunshine State.
According to News965, the ban has the following specifications.
The amendment proposed in the state legislature would ban possession of assault weapons, which are defined as “semiautomatic rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition at once, either in fixed or detachable magazine, or any other ammunition feeding device.”
“It’s not only that I wouldn’t, the majority of sheriffs across the state would not do it,” Lemma said in the video. It’s up to the sheriffs what they are willing to enforce.”
A suspect accused of beating his girlfriend in Harriman, New York, was released on an appearance ticket Tuesday.
Surveillance footage showed Jay Vazquez-Paulino as he confronted the young woman inside the Superior Package Company, where he worked, and allegedly began to hit her, according to Mid Hudson News.
At one point in the video, Vazquez-Paulino went outside the facility and appeared to hide a large knife in his shirt sleeve. Once he reentered the building, he allegedly threw something at the victim and punched her several times.
Moments later, the suspect tried to kick the woman as she talked on the phone. He then appeared to throw the knife onto the roof after he exited the building.
Following the incident, Harriman Village Police Chief Dan Henderson expressed his concern that New York’s criminal justice laws were protecting defendants and not the victims.
“My fear is there will be a lot of recidivism and that the victims will no longer be protected if we are not able to not only arraign, but to get bail on these subjects and put them in jail right after the incident happens,” Henderson said.
Thanks to the state’s bail reform laws that provide immediate release from jail without posting bond, suspect Tiffany Harris was freed right after she allegedly attacked three Orthodox Jewish women in December.
“Yes, I was there. Yes, I slapped them. I cursed them out. I said ‘F-U, Jews,’” she reportedly told New York police officers following her arrest.
However, Harris was charged with 21 counts of attempted assault and harassment, according to Breitbart News.
December 28, a convicted bank robber was arrested after he allegedly robbed a fourth bank in Colonie, New York.
“Then, on New Year’s Eve, Seamans was released from jail without bail thanks to New York’s newest bail reform laws,” the report said.
Tuesday, Vazquez-Paulino was charged with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, attempted assault, and harassment.
“The fact that it is captured on video goes further showing the strength of the case and the fact that he did have an intention to do harm here,” said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler, adding that the suspect should have been put in jail.
“The real issue here is that this gentleman was released with a ticket and given an order of protection and again is free to terrorize this woman, which in domestic cases there should be bail and situations are often used for a cooling off period to allow parties to cool off,” he concluded.
A 16-year-old student at an Alabama high school said she started a “prayer locker” at her local high school to help her classmates out in time of need.
Brianna Farris, who attends Pell City High School, said she heard about the concept from other high schools and wanted to start a prayer locker at her own high school, the Dothan Eaglereported.
WBRC reported that the administration had no problem with her request because it was a student-initiated activity.
“Within the first week, I probably got ten prayers in the locker, which is more than I expected,” Farris said. “So, I take them home and I’d pray for them and then on Sundays, my church also has a prayer request thing. So I write the prayer requests down and put them in the basket at church.”
The locker is located outside the library, and instructions by the locker state that students can submit prayer requests anonymously.
“I keep all the prayers that I get in a little bag. So I’ll just like have them with me at all times so if it hasn’t happened yet, I can still be praying for it,” according to Farris.
Farris said school administrators were worried that people would submit mean notes in the locker instead of prayer requests, but Farris reassured them that she would pray for them anyway.
“So if someone were to write a bad note, I would still be praying for them even if they were to do something mean towards me about the prayer locker or something like that,” said Farris.
Farris said the one regret she had was that she wished she had started the prayer locker idea sooner so that she could help more people.
