Tlaib Defends Anti-Israel Activist Who Was Voted Off Women’s March Board

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) on Friday came to the defense of an anti-Israel activist who was voted off the Women’s March board earlier in the week, telling her, "we have the truth on our side."

Tlaib took to Twitter to defend Zahra Billoo, the executive director of the San Francisco Bay area chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Billoo, who was voted off the board after serving for two days, sent out a 25-tweet thread about the vote, where she blamed an "Islamophobic smear campaign" and "right-wingers" for the scrutiny she and her colleagues received.

"#FreePalestine always sis! They won’t silence us for speaking out against human rights violations," Tlaib tweeted. "They will lie, smear our names and call us anti this and that, but we always be pro- humanity & we have the truth on our side. Stay strong @ZahraBilloo."

Billoo, who has been a vocal supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), said the campaign against her was "driven by people who oppose me and my work challenging the occupation of Palestine, our country’s perpetuation of unjust and endless wars, and law enforcement operations targeting the American Muslim community."

She has sent out several controversial tweets over the last decade, including tweets attacking U.S. troops, Memorial Day, and Israel.  Back in 2016, she quote-tweeted a Twitter user asking her whether she believes it’s "wrong" for the United States to honor soldiers on Memorial Day. She replied, "You think we should honor people who commit war crimes?"

She also refers to Israel as "Apartheid Israel" multiple times on her Twitter account and claims Israel "commits war crimes as a hobby" and "kills children as a hobby."

This isn’t the first time Tlaib has sided with someone vehemently opposed to Israel. Tlaib met with anti-Israel activist Joe Catron during American Muslims for Palestine Advocacy Day back in April. Catron and the New Jersey AMP chapter support the the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement which wages economic boycotts on the Jewish state.

The Anti-Defamation League previously stated the BDS movement is "the most prominent effort to undermine Israel’s existence" and has been critical of AMP for helping promote anti-Semitism.

Tlaib also took a picture back in January with Abbas Hamideh, a "Palestinian right of return" activist with a history of calling Israel a "terrorist entity." He attended Tlaib’s swearing-in ceremony and a private dinner afterwards.

Sandy Hook Promise’s Back to school PSA shamefully exploits (and terrifies) kids

“It’s back to school time and you know what that means.” Sandy Hook Promise released a Public Service Announcement (PSA) this week as a back to school message on mass shootings in schools. The purpose is alleged to be to encourage conversation between parents and children.

The problem with the PSA, though, is it is the latest example of exploiting children in order to deliver a political message from adults. It is meant to shock the viewer and uses school kids talking about new school supplies to do so. The title is “Back-to-School Essentials”. It opens with a boy and his new backpack and a girl with new binders.

As you see, by the time the third student is shown with his new earphones, the background action is becoming clear. It begins to get chaotic and the kids start to use their new supplies as tools of survival. It ends with a girl in a bathroom stall texting her mother as the viewer hears the bathroom door open and footsteps of what we are to assume are the shooter.

The PSA ends with “School shootings are preventable when you know the signs.” This is where the video ad fails. A PSA is supposed to educate. The only information delivered here outside of the dramatic use of school supplies is a phone number offered of Sandy Hook Promise and website.

It comes off as child exploitation. Just as the climate change extremists are using children to push their political agenda, the gun grabbers are doing the same with this type of action. Sandy Hook Promise is using child actors to strike fear into parents and students in order to begin conversations about school shootings. It strikes me as being in the vein of shock jock radio – just grab the attention of the audience with crude or exploitive language, or in this case, visuals of children in harm’s way.

Their videos get eyes on them, that’s for sure. The press release for this video states that one video in 2016 received a billion views worldwide. Think how much more effective their PSA would be if it actually delivered information for the parents to give to the kids. How about mentioning “the signs” mentioned at the end of the PSA? It doesn’t have to be detailed but signs in general. For example, in health-related PSAs, signs of diseases are mentioned without going into medical detail.

There is no need to shock people about school shootings or mass shootings in general. Everyone is already well aware of the tragedies and loss of life. I don’t think exploiting children for dramatic effect will move people on either side of the debates going on about Second Amendment rights.

This video plays into the stress of the drills that happen now in many schools. Students are taught what to do if a shooting happens. This is necessary and a sign of the times. It is scary for them and that’s understandable. The only thing I can think of from my school days that might compare is the drills during the Cold War and worries of a nuclear attack. The burden is on parents and teachers, though, to keep students calm and don’t overreach to the point of adding to the stress of an event that statistically likely won’t happen.

The environmental alarmists have freaked out kids at such young ages that they are suffering emotional distress and this is child abuse, in my opinion. Next thing you know, kids are skipping school and marching in the streets with their parents and teachers. The Parkland students were exploited by the gun-grabbing lobby, and funded by billionaires, like Michael Bloomberg, as they took bus tours across the country.

The Sandy Hook Promise Foundation fails to meet some standards set by The BBB Wise Giving Alliance.

The BBB Wise Giving Alliance helps donors make informed giving decisions and promotes high standards of conduct among organizations that solicit contributions from the public. It produces reports about national charities, evaluating them against comprehensive Standards for Charity Accountability, and publishes a magazine, the Wise Giving Guide, three times a year.

BBB WGA does not rank charities but rather seeks to assist donors in making informed judgments about those that solicit their support. Evaluations are done without charge to the charity and are posted for free public access on give.org.

BBB WGA reports on nationally soliciting charities that the public has most often asked about as well as charities that request to be evaluated. Give.org reports on about 1,300 nationally soliciting charities. In addition, about half of the 112 Better Business Bureaus in the United States and Canada cumulatively produce reports on over 10,000 locally soliciting charities using the same BBB Charity Standards as BBB WGA.

The Foundation is not rated by Charity Navigator because it hasn’t yet filed 7+ years of Form 990s.

Sandy Hook Promise usually releases a video at the end of the year, about the time of the anniversary of the shooting. This year they released it at the beginning of the school year and hope to make it an annual event.

Sandy Hook Promise usually releases a PSA in December, around the anniversary of the school shooting. They play on the major networks and across digital platforms. Co-founder Mark Barden says this is the first release around the start of the school year, and he hopes it becomes a routine discussion for back-to-school time.

“Our students should be worried about just the regular back-to-school things like their clothes and their folders and their backpacks and their lunchbox,” Barden said. “Not how to respond or hide or evacuate in a school shooting.”

Barden says Sandy Hook Promise has trained more than 7.5 million students and adults in preventing mass casualty incidents and suicides.

PRAGER: Do You Know What The Democrats Said At Their Debate?

The last debate among 10 Democrats seeking their party’s nomination for president set a new low for demagoguery, contempt for America and just plain foolishness.
Here are some examples:
Andrew Yang: "In America today, everything revolves around the almighty dollar — our schools, our hospitals, our media, even our government."
It is difficult to imagine a more contemptuous, not to mention erroneous, view of America.

Diamond & Silk Attack Dems’ Treatment of Black Voters: They ‘Don’t Need Reparations, They Need Liberation’

Commentators Diamond and Silk, who offer a conservative counterpoint to the liberal line followed by many black political leaders, slammed Democratic leaders Friday for focusing on the subject of reparations when it is not what black Americans need.

“Let me just tell you this here, when it comes to Democrats listening, they promise on everything and they deliver on nothing,” Diamond, whose real name is Lynnette Hardaway, said during a Friday appearance on the Fox News morning program “Fox & Friends.”

“Look at how they’re promising reparations, black people don’t need reparations, they need liberation from the Democrat Party,” she said.

In June, House Democrats held a hearing to discuss how reparations could be handled.

“I don’t think we should rule out cutting checks. There are people who deserve checks,” writer Ta-Nehisi Coates said at the hearing, according to CNN. Coates, who has advocated reparations since at least 2014,  said the early U.S. economy relied upon slavery, which supported “torture, rape and child trafficking.”

On Friday, Diamond and Silk were weighing in on comments from basketball legend Charles Barkley, who said Wednesday that black voters are too often ignored.

“They’ve been taking black people’s votes — and they only talk to black people every four years. All of these politicians only talk to black people every four years because they want their vote,” Barkley said on Sirius XM, according to Mediaite.

In a June interview with TMZ, Barkley said he did not think reparations were logistically possible.

Diamond and Silk, meanwhile, believe the accomplishments of President Donald Trump demonstrate action in contrast to the lack of even trying from Democrats.

“When it comes to the Republican Party, we have a Republican president. He’s not all talk, he takes action,” Diamond said, referencing Trump’s efforts to help the black community by reviving the economy to help more black Americans get jobs, as well as Trump’s support of the FIRST STEP Act to help ex-convicts.

Black unemployment in August was 5.5 percent, far below the 8.1 percent figure from the end of 2016 before Trump was inaugurated.  Trump said in April that the FIRST STEP Act was already helping more than 16,000 inmates.

“Republicans don’t have to pander, because they deliver … our Republican president … is delivering,” Diamond said.

Silk, whose real name is Rochelle Richardson, voiced the wish that black people would have a “come to Jesus moment” and “realize that the Democrat Party mean black people no good.”

RELATED: Diamond & Silk Defend Trump: If You Don’t Like America, ‘You Can Pack Your Knapsack and Go’

Silk said Trump helps the black community by “leading by example.”

“The president is doing what he needs to do when it comes down to black people by showing people this is what you need for the black community,” she said.

“You need jobs so you can take care of your family,” Silk added. “Instead of talking about it, he’s ‘being about it,’  and that’s why black people are waking up to it.”

Silk differed with Barkley on the 2020 election, in which he has expressed a leaning toward Sound Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, one of the Democrats seeking the party’s nomination.

She said she wants a candidate who works toward the “betterment of all Americans.”

“Anybody can support whoever they want to,” she said, “but I want to support someone that is doing something for all Americans, including black Americans.”

The owner of a Portland, Oregon, bar that reportedly served as a haven for Antifa protesters is now in trouble with state regulators for his role in a May 1 brawl that erupted outside his business.

Bar owner Abram Goldman-Armstrong is accused of doing nothing to stop his left-wing patrons from using “illegal weapons” against conservative protesters during a May 1 brawl, according to Fox News.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission also said that Goldman-Armstrong, who operates the Cider Riot, failed to follow state rules and remove unruly customers.

“Goldman-Armstrong stated that his patrons were only acting in self-defense but clearly, according to the video, he was present and watching as patrons displayed aggressive behavior,” wrote state inspector Genny Welp, according to The Oregonian.

The report said the owner photographed his customers while they were using “illegal weapons.”

TRENDING: Beto Reveals the Democrats’ True Agenda

Despite being aware of multiple injuries that were suffered in the fight, and the role his customers played in the brawl, Goldman-Armstrong never tried to boot those customers, the report said, noting that this lack of action broke state rules.

The report also said that Goldman-Armstrong and Joseph LeVasseaur, who was working security in the bar that day, gave false statements to state investigators, based on a review of video evidence and multiple statements.

In one instance, Goldman-Armstrong claimed he ordered police to be called. However, the employee who made the call contradicted that claim.

LeVasseaur initially said he was at his post outside the bar’s entrance throughout the incident.

He later admitted he joined the attack on the right-wing protesters, using mace against them and getting into a fight with one person.

“When I asked LeVasseaur why he had not disclosed all this to me in the first interview he stated he was in fear of Patriot Prayer groups [sic] retaliation as the video had gone viral,” Welp wrote.

The report recommends charges against the owner and his staff of providing false statements, failure to evict and permitting unlawful and disorderly activity. All of those are state alcohol license violations.

The report also recommends a charge of destroyed or concealed evidence, but The Oregonian reported that the details were redacted.

The attorney for Goldman-Armstrong downplayed the charges.

“It’s not clear what OLCC would have wanted my client to do,” attorney Juan Chavez said. “Did they want Abe to be both a one-man police force and a bouncer, all while he was dealing with a small triage hospital in his cidery?”

Since the May 1 riot, Goldman-Armstrong has put the bar up for sale.

School Outright Cancels Football Game After Cheerleaders Punished for ‘Trump 2020’ Banner

A dispute that began when a group of cheerleaders was punished for displaying a pro-Trump banner has now resulted in a North Carolina school canceling Friday night’s football game.

On Friday afternoon, the Stanly County Schools tweeted that the North Stanly High School game would be canceled over security concerns, but it did not elaborate.

The action came after the North Carolina High School Athletic Association put North Stanly cheerleaders on probation because prior to the school’s Aug. 30 game, some cheerleaders posed with a banner that read “Trump 2020 Make America Great Again,” Fox News reported.

TRENDING: Beto Reveals the Democrats’ True Agenda

The incident took place on what was being celebrated as “American Night,” and students had been encouraged to wear red white and blue. The Stanly News & Press quoted school officials as saying that the banner was not school-sponsored and that the school had a policy against political statements.

Community members had planned a rally in support of the cheerleaders prior to Friday’s game and planned to display a large American flag.

“There was no threat,” Jeremy Onitreb, who helped organize the rally, said, according to the Charlotte Observer. “Nobody’s coming up there to hurt the kids. It’s not what this was about.”

Onitreb was then asked if the rally is going to ever happen.

“You’re damn right it is,” he said.

“The next rally is going to happen out at the NCHSAA offices. Que Tucker is next, we’re coming for her job. Until she decides to resign, we’re taking this fight to her,” he said, citing the commissioner of the group that put the cheerleaders on probation.

The NCHSAA has said probation is not punishment and that it did not ban the cheerleaders from participating in future games.

RELATED: NC Cheerleaders Put on Probation over Pro-Trump Game Banner, Now Locals Are Rallying Back

Reports in the Salisbury Post and other local media linked Onitreb and co-organizer Jay Thaxton to the Proud Boys, a conservative group that they identified as a “hate group,” citing the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Thaxton disagreed with that characterization.

“From my experience, the left will demonize any narrative that they do not agree with,” he said. “If you don’t fall in line with their creed or mantra, then their gaslight term is to call that organization racist.”

Onitreb had said before the rally that there would be security guards but did not know if there would be counter-protesters.

“I don’t expect any of that and I’m not looking for that and nobody in my group will be looking for that,” he said.

After the game was canceled, he said the decision was an effort to muzzle free speech.

“The reason they decided to cancel the game is because somebody out there wanted to shut down our free speech so bad — they wanted to shut this rally down so bad — that they were willing to call the school and threaten the school,” Onitreb said in a Facebook live video on the event page.

He said those supporting the rally will continue to show up to wave the flag at future games.

“We’re not going down like this,” he told the Charlotte Observer. “Rocky Balboa wore American flag trunks for a reason. Do you know how hard it was to knock that man out? Well, it’s going to be real hard to knock us out.”

Widow of Pastor Who Died by Suicide Reminds Everyone That ‘Pastors Are People’

Just four days after another California pastor died by suicide Kayla Stoecklein, widow of pastor Andrew Stoecklein — who died by suicide in 2018 — posted a simple yet powerful reminder.

Thirty-year-old Jarrid Wilson, who was an associate pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship, died by suicide on Sept. 9, the day before World Suicide Prevention Day.

Wilson’s unexpected death not only impacted his family and friends, but also the thousands of people that he and his wife, Juli, reached through their Christian non-profit, Anthem Hope.

According to its website, Anthem Hope is “dedicated to amplifying hope for those battling brokenness, depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction and suicide.”

TRENDING: Beto Reveals the Democrats’ True Agenda

Both Jarrid and Juli were passionate about helping others who struggled with mental health and Jarrid was open about his own journey with depression and anxiety on social media and in person.

In a tweet he published hours before he died Wilson wrote, “Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure suicidal thoughts. Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure depression. Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure PTSD. Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure anxiety.”

“But,” he continued, “that doesn’t mean Jesus doesn’t offer us companionship and comfort. He ALWAYS does that.”

The day after his death, Juli wrote a heartbreaking tribute to her late husband and promised to continue his legacy, promising that suicide wouldn’t get “the last word,” but instead that hope would.

Juli’s words sound similar to those of Kayla Stoecklein, who lost her husband Andrew, then the lead pastor at Inland Hills Church; he also died by suicide on Aug. 25, 2018.

“I will continue to live for you. I will raise our boys to be men of God, just like you were,” Stoecklein wrote in an open letter three days after Andrew’s death.

“Your name will live on in a powerful way. Your story has the power to save lives, change lives, and transform the way the Church supports pastors.”

Kayla clung onto the phrase that her husband used in some of his darkest times — “God’s got this” — and even continued posting to his blog named after that phrase to share her journey of holding onto faith in the midst of otherwise unbearable grief.

I was 22 years old when I first found out I was going to be a mom. We had been married for a year, we had no idea what we were doing, but all of our friends were popping out babies so we decided to join the club.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Since the birth of my first boy I have learned that becoming a mom is really becoming love. It’s love in action, love with skin on, it’s a selfless, exhausting, endless pouring out kind of love.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I have experienced the extreme beauty and extreme pain of this love throughout the years. From muscling through labor and delivery without an epidural to holding each of my little ones for the first time, from sitting by an incubator for a month watching my middle boy fight for his life in the NICU to watching him grow healthy and strong, from transitioning from working mom to stay at home mom and now working mom again. The ups and downs and in betweens, the mountains and valleys of motherhood.⁣ ⁣ As a mom you wear many hats: nurse, chef, teacher, leader, secret keeper, coach, advocate, comforter, and friend. And this year as my role has changed again, as I place a new hat on my head, I am reminded there is beauty and pain to be found here too.⁣ ⁣⁣ Cheers to all the moms today, in every shape and form. The single moms, the solo moms, the step moms, the soon to be moms, the adoptive moms, the longing to be moms. Today we celebrate you. Love in action, love with skin on, love embodied every minute of every day, you are valued, you are brave, you are beautiful, and you are strong. You rise to the occasion every single day, and you inspire us all to rise up too. Happy Mother’s Day, from me to you. ❤️

Both of these men left behind loving wives and young children. Both of these men secretly struggled with their mental health until they felt like they couldn’t any longer.

And both of these heartbreaking deaths have sparked a conversation among Christians about mental health, the gospel and how the church can support its leaders.

In the midst of that debate, however, Kayla Stoecklein had a simple yet powerful reminder as Christians across the country were once again wrestling with that question. After hearing about the passing of another prominent pastor, she felt called to speak out.

“I wanted to say something from my heart, the heart of a pastor’s wife whose husband died by suicide, and it’s this: ⁣Pastors are people,” she wrote on Instagram.

She went on to say that the “perfect pastor” people may be searching for does not exist.

“Whether pastors are ‘candid about their current brokenness’ or not they are all broken,” she continued. “They are all broken because WE are all broken.

“Our brokenness is what makes us human. Our brokenness is what makes us beautiful. Our brokenness is what beckons us to the foot of the cross.

“None of us have arrived, ⁣None of us have it all figured out.⁣ None of us are whole. All of us are still growing.⁣  All of us are still learning.⁣ All of us are still broken.⁣”

I saw a post yesterday that tore my heart apart. It didn’t help. It only widened the gap between mental health and ministry. Instead of commenting on the post and only giving it more attention, I wanted to say something from my heart, the heart of a pastor’s wife whose husband died by suicide, and it’s this: ⁣ ⁣ Pastors are people. ⁣ ⁣ You can visit every church in the world and you will never find a “perfect” pastor because it does not exist. ⁣ ⁣ I watched my husband week after week step into his calling and carry the mantel he had been given with grace and strength.⁣ ⁣ And then he got sick. ⁣ And guess what? Sometimes we get sick. ⁣ ⁣ Mental illness is not a choice, it is not the result of an underlying sin issue, and it does not disqualify anybody from ministry. ⁣ ⁣ Mental illness is an illness just like any other illness and it should be treated with the same tender care, empathy, and compassion.⁣ ⁣ Whether pastors are “candid about their current brokenness” or not they are all broken. They are all broken because WE are all broken. Our brokenness is what makes us human. Our brokenness is what makes us beautiful. Our brokenness is what beckons us to the foot of the cross. ⁣ ⁣ None of us have arrived, ⁣ None of us have it all figured out.⁣ None of us are whole.⁣ All of us are still growing.⁣ All of us are still learning.⁣ All of us are still broken.⁣ ⁣ And Jesus loves broken people. He loves broken people SO much He gave His life to save us all so we wouldn’t have to be broken forever.⁣ ⁣ Less judgement, more compassion.⁣ Less criticism, more empathy.⁣ Less hate, more love. ⁣ ⁣ I am broken, but I am still serving God, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. #Godsgotthis #MoreEmpathy

Greg Laurie, the senior pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship, issued a similar reminder in the wake of Jarrid Wilson’s death.

“Sometimes people may think that as pastors or spiritual leaders we are somehow above the pain and struggles of everyday people,” Laurie wrote. “We are the ones who are supposed to have all the answers. But we do not.

“At the end of the day, pastors are just people who need to reach out to God for His help and strength, each and every day.”

We are praying for Wilson’s family as they continue to grieve his death, as well as all of those who heard the news of his death and lost a little (or a lot) of hope. You are seen, you are loved and your life is worth living.

UPDATE: Out of Touch Elizabeth Warren Still Doesn’t Know What ‘Selfie’ Means

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), who curiously unveiled her "free college" plan on communist agitator Vladimir Lenin’s birthday, continues to wage war on the English language. Since June, her campaign has carried out a "selfie strategy" involving "selfie lines" at events. Supporters wait in line—for hours, in some cases—to take a photo with the candidate, and are encouraged to share the images on social media, a medium that was artfully mastered by President Donald J. Trump during his historically victorious campaign against Hillary Clinton, the once-prominent public orator.

Unfortunately for Warren, 70, a prior Washington Free Beacon analysis found that her so-called "selfie strategy" is a perverse prevarication. By now even elderly Americans are familiar with the term "selfie," which was formally included in the Merriam-Webster dictionary in 2014 and defined as "an image that includes oneself (often with another person or as part of a group) and is taken by oneself using a digital camera especially for posting on social networks" (emphasis added).

In reality, Warren’s "selfies" are almost always taken by a campaign aide and cast doubt on the candidate’s commitment to the truth. Recent evidence suggests that Warren’s campaign, aided by the corrupt mainstream media, continues to bastardize the popular term for the candidate’s personal and political gain.

In light of this sustained deception—whether due to recklessness or sheer incompetence—perhaps Democratic voters should think twice before nominating Warren as the candidate to take on President Trump, who has occasionally been criticized by leftists for stretching the so-called "truth."

If Warren doesn’t know or care enough to run a campaign based on accurate terminology, how much confidence should the American people have in her ability to stand up to Vladimir Putin? Is her definition of "Ukraine" similarly flexible? These are just a few of the important questions the mainstream media refuse to ask.

FREE BEACON CLIMATE CONFESSIONS: How Are You Coddling the Environment?

NBC News has been soliciting anonymous "climate confessions" from its readers. "Even those who care deeply about the planet’s future can slip up now and then," the site reads. "Tell us: Where do you fall short in preventing climate change? Do you blast the A/C? Throw out half your lunch? Grill a steak every week?"

Like most things on the internet these days, NBC’s special feature has been infiltrated by trolls.

Apparently some people find the idea of "confessing" one’s preference for bacon or plastic straws to a media outlet to be rather stupid. In fact, even the ostensibly earnest confessions could be easily mistaken for satire.

NBC has unintentionally highlighted one of the more absurd aspects of the political urge to "do something" about climate change. Even most climate activists would probably agree that none of this matters. Individual efforts from people "who care deeply about the planet’s future" aren’t going to solve the problem. It’s going to require massive government intervention that imposes choices on the public writ large, or at least the vast majority who can’t afford to buy carbon offsets for their private jets. The rest of us will have to Skype our kids on the west coast as federal agents inspect our pantries.

In any event, NBC’s feature has inspired the Free Beacon to collect anonymous climate-related confessions from our own readers, because even those who couldn’t care less about the planet’s future slip up now and then. We appreciate your honesty in expressing the guilt and shame you feel over how your actions have contributed to the relentless coddling of the so-called "environment." Your sins are forgiven.
