WATCH: CNN Guest Refers To Black People As ‘Slaves’

A CNN guest accidentally referred to black people as “slaves” during a segment that aired over the weekend while discussing an upcoming decision from the Department of Justice.

Andrew Beveridge, Professor of Sociology at Queens College, appeared on CNN’s “Smerconish” with host Michael Smerconish on Saturday to discuss an upcoming decision from the DOJ about the implications of the department asking people whether they are citizens in the 2020 census.

Answering a question about redistricting, Beveridge said, “Ever since the 14th amendment, all people in the United States have been counted, women, children, slave–ugh blacks, non-citizens, etc.”

“But I think the sort of the holy grail of this from a point of view of the Republican redistricters is to try to get these people out because it would radically change a loss of districts across the country and it would rural areas but I think it would also help the outer ring suburbs that are largely white, largely citizen, and largely very affluent, also retirement areas would have a much better count,” Beveridge continued.
