“My firearms are as safe as my cell phone,” says the owner of a Tempe, Arizona gun store that drew national attention when it sold out of AR-15s and AK-47s in only four hours by running a “Beto Specials” promotion.
In an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, Alpha Dog Firearms Owner Matt Boggs said his cell phone is “going to hurt just as many people” as his guns – because he obeys the current gun laws:
“Me, as a law-abiding citizen, you know, my firearms are as safe as my cell phone, in my opinion. I’m going to hurt just as many people.”
“Making legal gun owners into criminals, that is not a solution,” Boggs said in response to calls to outlaw AR-15 and AK-47 rifles, as Democrat Beto O’Rourke has promised to do if elected president:
“They’re not out to – it’s an inanimate object – and going after people and grabbing these things and making legal gun owners into criminals, that is not a solution. And, it seems like to be the way people want to go about doing this.”
Boggs’ gained national media coverage after he ran a wildly successful “Beto Specials” promotion in response to O’Rourke’s promise that “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47” if he’s elected president.
Boggs also criticized politicians who think there is a quick-fix, one-step solutions such as gun confiscation, to the problem of mass shootings:
“I think what’s going on is people are trying to find a simple solution for a very complex problem. And, it’s not more of this or less that, and everybody just wants to throw these quick tidbits and just, ‘Oh, this is going to be the solution for it,’ and this is really a complex problem. And I, just as an American citizen, I look at this and I say this is not something that is going to be a one-step solution, this is going to require some actual thought.”
