Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden’s team has yet to consent to the Trump campaign’s request to have the ears of both candidates inspected for listening devices prior to the first presidential debate.
According to reports ahead of the first head-to-head debate, President Donald Trump’s team requested that a third party check the ears of both candidates to ensure there are no listening devices — a request to which the former vice president’s team has yet to agree, according to Fox News’s Bill Hemmer.
Additionally, Biden’s campaign reportedly requested breaks every 30 minutes, but the Trump team rejected that request as well. However, Fox News’s Bret Baier pointed out that the debate commission always said the debate would be 90 minutes straight through with no commercial breaks.
“As far as the listening devices and the Biden campaign’s response to that, I think that’s interesting. We will have to follow that through the day to [see] what comes out of that,” Baier added:
On Sunday, Trump “strongly” demanded a drug test for “Sleepy Joe” either before or after the debate.
“Naturally, I will agree to take one also. His Debate performances have been record setting UNEVEN, to put it mildly. Only drugs could have caused this discrepancy???” he said:
The Biden campaign’s Kate Bedingfield responded to the president’s request, stating that the former vice president “intends to deliver his debate answers in words.”
“If the president thinks his best case is made in urine he can have at it,” Biden’s deputy campaign manager continued. “We’d expect nothing less from Donald Trump, who pissed away the chance to protect the lives of 200K Americans when he didn’t make a plan to stop [Chinese coronavirus].”
The debate, taking place in Cleveland, Ohio, is slated to begin at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
The Philadelphia Firefighters’ and Paramedics’ Union broke from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and “proudly” endorsed President Trump for re-election, citing the overwhelming support for the president among members.
“The Philadelphia Firefighters’ and Paramedics’ Union, Local 22 of the International Association of’ Fire Fighters proudly endorses President Trump for re-election,” the union announced on Tuesday, hours ahead of the first presidential debate.
“The members of Local 22 respectfully break with the undemocratic IAFF endorsement of Joe Biden and pledge our full support to President Donald J. Trump,” President Mike Bresnan said in a statement, explaining that IAFF’s endorsement of Biden was done “without a canvas of local unions and the consideration of the rank and file IAFF membership.”
Local 22 members, which represent over 4,700 current and retired first responders, were surveyed and “overwhelmingly” chose the president, Bresnan said, adding that IAFF leaders should view the endorsement as a “wake-up call.”
“They know what is at stake in this election and this endorsement should be a wake-up call to IAFF leaders that have lost touch with the will of the membership. There is tremendous support for President Trump among first responders and we encourage other IAFF locals to confer with their members,” Bresnan continued.
“Under the Obama-Biden Administration, several Philadelphia fire companies were shut down,” Bresnan added. “The FEMA grants provided by President Trump put Engines 1,8, 14, and 39 back into service protecting the people of Philadelphia”:
The endorsement may come as a surprise to the Biden campaign. Pennsylvania first responders are one of the few groups Biden has deliberately tried to reach out to, despite his limited campaign trail appearances.
Last month, for example, Biden delivered pizza to first responders in Pittsburgh:
Earlier this month, a maskless Joe Biden stopped to speak to Pennsylvania firefighters after participating in CNN’s town hall event:
The endorsement is also significant, as first responders are one of the few groups the Bidens have donated to over the years.
According to Forbes, Joe and Jill Biden donated “just $70,000 to charity in the two decades leading up to 2017, per their tax returns”:
But when their earnings skyrocketed in 2017, so did their giving. That year they handed more than $1 million, or about 9% of their income, to 26 charities—including their family’s Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children ($150,000) and the Joseph Biden Foundation ($100,000).
The following year, the Bidens “reported a $25,000 contribution to the International Assn. of Firefighters Foundation,” according to the Los Angeles Times, which noted that the union thanked him in the form of a swift endorsement.
Indeed, IAFF endorsed Biden last year during the Democrat primary, describing him as “one of our greatest advocates.”
The New York Times never lets the facts get in the way of a good story – it just buries them so far down no one will see. Then it buries its own credibility, too. That was the case Sunday when the most biased “news” organization in the country published its latest in-kind donation to…
China Has Purchased Less Than One-Third Of Goods It Promised Under Phase One Deal Tyler Durden
Mon, 09/28/2020 – 19:20
President Trump has touted his "historic" US-China trade agreement as a boon for America’s farmers. Still, a little more than eight months have passed since the deal was signed, and Beijing has purchased less than one-third of the US exports it said it would buy this year under the agreement.
A summary of China’s monthly purchases of US goods covered by the deal, derived from Chinese customs (China’s imports) and the US Census Bureau (US exports) data, presented by Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), shows China’s year-to-date total imports of covered US goods (as of August) were $56 billion, versus the prorated year-to-date target of $115.1 billion.
What this means for the prorated year-to-date target as of last month is that China is about 48% below the levels it needs to fulfill the trade deal this year. As for the full-year target of $172.7 billion, well, China has only purchased less than a third.
Here is PIIE’s breakdown of China’s imports by product type, showing Beijing is severely behind in purchases of agriculture, manufactured goods, and energy products.
Covered Agriculture Products
For covered agricultural products, China committed to an additional $12.5 billion of purchases in 2020 above 2017 levels, implying an annual target of $36.6 billion (Chinese imports, panel b) and $33.4 billion (US exports, panel c). Through August 2020, China’s imports of covered agricultural products were $11.0 billion, compared with a year-to-date target of $24.4 billion. Over the same period, US exports of covered agricultural products were $9.6 billion, compared with a year-to date target of $22.3 billion. Through the first eight months of 2020, China’s purchases were thus only at 43 percent (US exports) or 45 percent (Chinese imports) of their year-to-date targets.
Covered Manufactured Products
For covered manufactured products, China committed to an additional $32.9 billion of purchases in 2020 above 2017 levels, implying an annual target of $110.8 billion (Chinese imports) and $83.1 billion (US exports). Through August 2020, China’s imports of covered manufactured products were $41.5 billion, compared with a year-to-date target of $73.9 billion. Over the same period, US exports of covered manufactured products were $33.2 billion, compared with a year-to-date target of $55.4 billion. Through the first eight months of 2020, China’s purchases were thus only at 60 percent (US exports) or 56 percent (Chinese imports) of their year-to-date targets.
Covered Energy Products
For covered energy products, China committed to an additional $18.5 billion of purchases in 2020 above 2017 levels, implying an annual target of $25.3 billion (Chinese imports) and $26.1 billion (US exports). Through August 2020, China’s imports of covered energy products were $3.5 billion, compared with a year-to-date target of $16.9 billion. Over the same period, US exports of covered energy products were $4.8 billion, compared with a year-to-date target of $17.4 billion. Through the first eight months of 2020, China’s purchases were thus only at 27 percent (US exports) or 21 percent (Chinese imports) of their year-to-date targets.
Despite the lack of purchases, Trump continues to tell farmers the deal is "fully intact." Nevertheless, increased friction between both countries over coronavirus, technology transfers, and Taiwan have erupted this year, making it less likely for Beijing to fulfill its phase one obligations as it has gone elsewhere.
A new development that could weigh on US purchases is that China appears to be urging domestic companies to limit imports of foods from countries where the virus pandemic continues to rage.
Readers should be asking one simple question: Why isn’t the Trump administration being held accountable for not enforcing their own trade deal?
Over the weekend, action star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — who calls himself a “political centrist” — endorsed Democrat Joe Biden and his far-left VP candidate, Kamala Harris, for the 2020 elections. The announcement spurred radio talk show giant Mark Levin to slam “The Rock” for abandoning his supposed centrism.
The Rock posted a fawning remote video “interview” with Biden and Harris that many said made a mockery of his self-professed “centrist ideologies,” as he says of himself in the video.
But while Johnson puffs himself up as a moderate, talker Levin points out the logical fallacy in The Rock’s display of politics.
Levin slammed Johnson for abandoning his “centrism.”
“By the way, to show you what a clown ‘the Rock’ truly is, he says he’s a centrist and Independent, yet he’s effusive in his support for Kamala Harris, who’s the most leftwing senator in the Senate (left of Sanders!), and was the most vicious and vile hack of the bunch during Brett Kavanaugh‘s confirmation hearings. This should make you even more active in re-electing President Trump,” Levin wrote.
Many of Johnson’s fans agree with Mark Levin. The Rock has thrown away any credibility he may have had as a “centrist.”
Despite Senate Republicans uniting behind Judge Amy Coney Barrett as the next Supreme Court justice, the only two GOP senators who may vote against her confirmation will be two women.
President Donald Trump on Monday announced a plan to ship 150 million rapid point-of-care coronavirus tests to high-risk communities in the United States.
“In a short period of time, my administration has built the most advanced testing system in the world,” Trump said, noting that 243 different tests for the virus exist today.
The rapid tests developed by Abbott Laboratories deliver results within 15 minutes, without having to send it to a lab for processing.
“We’re down to something, that you’ll see, is really from a different planet,” Trump said.
The president asked Adm. Brett P. Giroir, the Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services, to demonstrate the test at a press conference he had in the Rose Garden at the White House.
“Good luck,” Trump joked. “I hope you don’t test positive.”
Giroir said that the administration had already shipped 65,000 of the tests to disaster operations in California, Oregon, Texas, and Louisiana as well as 2.1 million of the rapid-tests to nursing homes.
“Today we start the shipment of 100 million tests to governors with a total of 6.5 million tests this week,” Giroir said.
The president said he would send 50 million tests to protect the most vulnerable population in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home hospice care.
He also said he would send 100 million tests to help states reopen their schools, including tests for HBCU and tribal universities.
The president said that he would continue to use the tests to protect the more vulnerable elderly communities but allow younger and healthier Americans to go back to work.
“It’s important to remember that as younger and healthier people return to work and as we massively increase testing capacity, we will identify more cases and asymptomatic individuals in low-risk populations,” he said. “This should not cause undue alarm. The total number of cases is not the full metric of success.”
"Stu Does America" host Stu Burguiere, and Sara Gonzales of "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered" sat down and predicted how the first presidential debate would go down between Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump.
"What do you expect out of the debate?" Stu asked. "Some are sitting here looking at this election and saying Trump might be a little behind in the polls, but ‘this is the moment.’ Trump is going to wipe the floor with Joe Biden."
He went on to ask Sara if Trump will destroy Biden or if conservatives are a "little bit too excited about it?"
