Former MI5 Boss: UK Facing Thirty Years of Islamist Terror Threat

The Britain people should prepare for the threat from Islamist attacks to continue for another three decades, a former MI5 chief has said.

Lord Evans said the scale of the threat was “severe” and a “generational problem” that the UK needed to “persevere” to defeat.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, he warned: “We’re at least 20 years into this. My guess is that we will still be dealing with the long tail in over 20 years’ time.

“I think this is genuinely a generational problem. I think we are going to be facing 20 to 30 years of terrorist threat and therefore we need, absolutely critically, to persevere.”

At the end of May, Government sources said there are at least 23,000 jihadists in Britain with 500 being subject to active investigations led by MI5.

Since 2013, there have been 19 attempted attacks on Britain, with a number successfully claiming lives, including Westminster, London Bridge, and Manchester.

Lord Evans added: “There’s no doubt that we are still facing a severe terrorist threat but I think it’s also important to put this in a slightly longer context, because, right the way back from the 1990s, we have been experiencing difficulties from Islamist terrorists of one sort or another.

“Over that period, the threat has come and gone but the underlying threat has continued.

“Since 2013, there have been 19 attempted attacks that have been disrupted and even since the attack at Westminster we are told there have been six disruptions, so this is a permanent state of preparedness.”

In 2015, it was reported that the Muslim population of England and Wales had nearly doubled in 10 years, and a significant proportion is sympathetic to radical views. There is also a growing threat from terrorists trained abroad.

Twenty-seven per cent of British Muslims polled in 2015 said they had sympathy with the attacks on Charlie Hebdo – the French satirical magazine that published cartoons of the Muslim prophet Muhammed.

A further 78 per cent supported punishment for the publication of cartoons featuring Muhammed and 68 per cent backed the arrest and prosecution of British people who “insult Islam”.

‘He can’t be blamed for all this’: Al Gore defends Donald Trump on North Korea crisis he inherited

Climate change activist and former Vice President Al Gore gave an interview to Newsweek on Friday, and when asked his thoughts on President Donald’s Trump’s promise of “fire and fury” on North Korea, he gave a shocking response.

Though Gore called the warning to North Korea “intemperate” and “really unwise,” he did absolve the commander in chief of any wrongdoing in exacerbating tensions between Washington and Pyongyang.

“I think it’s only fair to point out [Trump] inherited this crisis,” Gore said. “The previous three presidents were not able to find an adequate solution [to the North Korea crisis], so he can’t be blamed for all this.

“He has a secretary of defense and national security adviser, both of whom are immensely respected,” Gore said. “I hope he will listen to them, and I hope their cooler heads will prevail.”

Gore also spoke of Trump’s decision in June to pull the U.S. out of the Paris accord, a climate agreement, but didn’t say a negative word about Trump.

Asked about the decision, Gore said, “I was worried when Donald Trump made that speech [announcing the withdrawal] it would have a negative effect. I was worried that some other countries might pull out and use him as an excuse. But that didn’t happen. The very next day the entire world redoubled their commitments to the agreement.”

Despite Trump’s withdrawal, however, Gore still has hope for the U.S. and its role in the Paris accord.

“It looks like the U.S. will meet its commitments under the Paris Agreement regardless of Trump,” Gore said. “A new president could just give 30 days’ notice and legally the U.S. would be back in.”

Not one Republican lawmaker showed up at Paramount and Participant Media's special Washington, D.C., screening of Al Gore's climate change documentary, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, for Capitol Hill. All 535 members of Congress were invited to the July 19 event, held less than two miles from the U.S. Capitol at the Newseum. Gore, who did a long stint in Congress before serving as U.S. vice president under Bill Clinton, hosted the gathering, which did succeed in drawing scores of Democrats. An Inconvenient Sequel, a follow up to Gore's blockbuster 2006 documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, opens in select theaters Friday and arrives on the big screen as the Trump administration continues to dispute that man-made pollution is causing global warming. On June 1, Gore, along with leaders around the globe, were stunned when President Donald Trump pulled the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord. Gore's film, which was produced and financed by Participant Media, follows Gore at the Paris

Alert: Google “Revising” History… Try Searching This US President

Advertisement – story continues below

Even George Orwell would be stunned by this.

The liberals at Google have been making a lot of news lately for all the wrong reasons: Firing an honest engineer who wrote a memo stating the obvious about women in the engineering field; letting political biases skew their search results the company gives its users.

But flat-out lying about Abraham Lincoln is something no American could have expected.

Advertisement – story continues below

But that’s just what the world’s most popular search engine is doing when users type in a question about the nation’s 16th – and most revered – president.

And it’s lying about one of the most basic facts that are known about the first Republican Party president, besides his being assassinated and freeing the slaves.

If a Google user types in the question “What political party did Abraham Lincoln belong to?” the answer is absolutely astounding – and it’s not the one that every schoolchild learns.

Advertisement – story continues below

The National Union Party? Sure, that was the name the Republican Party adopted for the election of 1864, when Lincoln was facing a re-election challenge from Democrat and former Gen. George McClellan.

It’s an election Lincoln might have lost, too, if it had not been for Union victories in the field of battle – especially the fall of Atlanta the September before the voting.

But no American learns that Abraham Lincoln was the nominee of the National Union Party, because that wasn’t how he got elected to the presidency in the first place.

Advertisement – story continues below

Lincoln was a Republican, the nominee of the party that was literally founded to ensure the end of slavery in the United States and the consequent emancipation of blacks in slavery in the Democrat states of the South.

Trying to wipe away that history is apace with the mainstream media’s complicity with the Democrat Party today in trying to paint Republicans as the party opposed to civil rights for all Americans. However, that is simply not the case.

Manipulating history — or attempting to do so — for current political goals is common in totalitarian, socialist societies. It was such an obsession in the Soviet Union that when Orwell wrote his magnificent “1984,” predicting where socialist dictatorships would eventually lead Western civilization, he made his chief character a man who rewrote history for a living.

In the world Orwell envisioned, the ruling socialists would make inconvenient historical facts disappear down “memory holes,” to be replaced by historical fiction more in line with the political demands of the totalitarian rulers.

But trying to pretend Abraham Lincoln was something other than a Republican?

Even Orwell would have been stunned.

Fired Google Engineer James Damore Holds “Fired for Truth” Protest Sign Outside Google HQ

Last week, Google erroneously fired senior software developer James Damore after a memo he published on gender and diversity in the workplace went viral.

Scientists claim Damore’s memo was scientifically accurate.

On Thursday James Damore stood outside of Google with a protest sign: “Fired for Truth.”

And then on Friday anti-Google street art by SABO has since appeared in Los Angeles, showing the late Apple founder and CEO Steve Jobs’ face above its “think different” slogan against Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai picture that reads “Not So Much.” Another street art piece shows the Apple logo with the phrase “get hired” and a Google logo with “get fired” next to it.

SABO provided high-resolution photos of the anti-Google street art to The Gateway Pundit.

Here is video of the anti-Google street art in Los Angeles.

Ellison: Kim Jong-un Acting More Responsibly Than Trump

Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.) said on Friday that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un was acting "more responsible than" President Donald Trump.

Speaking at the left-wing Netroots Nation conference in Atlanta, Ellison, who serves as Vice-Chair of the Democratic National Committee, spoke briefly on the latest tensions between North Korea and the United States.

Ellison spoke critically of Trump’s handling of the situation and called the North Korean despot more responsible than Trump.

"North Korea is a serious thing. You have this guy [Trump] making bellicose threats against somebody else who has very little to lose over there," Ellison said. "Kim Jong-un, the world always thought he was not a responsible leader. Well, he’s acting more responsible than this guy is."

Ellison also called for the anti-war movement to ramp up its efforts and called for "diplomacy in North Korea immediately."

Black Journalists Turn Backs On Omarosa Manigault at Conference

Speaking at NABJ17 (The National Association of Black Journalists) in New Orleans on Friday, Omarosa Manigault, director of communications for the Office of Public Liason for the Trump Administration, watched as black members of the audience turned their backs to her while she conversed with Bounce TV’s Ed Gordon.

The hostility toward Manigault should not have been unexpected; after she was added to the panel, The New York Times’ Nikole Hannah-Jones, who was scheduled to moderate the panel on police brutality, which featured Valerie Castile, Sandra Sterling, and the New Yorker’s Jelani Cobb, pulled out, as did Cobb; Gordon replaced Hannah-Jones as the event’s moderator.

New York Times reporter Yamiche Alcindor chronicled what happened as Manigault and Gordon argued:

Wait, Manigault said, “Google me?” Isn’t the Left okay with someone telling them to Google something?

Wasserman Prosecutor’s Death Was Ruled A Suicide… Police Statement Unveils 1 Hidden Truth

Advertisement – story continues below

Mysterious deaths with possible connections to the Democratic National Committee have received a lot of attention — and now another body is causing people to ask hard questions.

In late May, a South Florida federal prosecutor was found dead on the beach in Hollywood, Florida, in the congressional district represented by former DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

According to the Sun Sentinel, Beranton Whisenant was killed by a gunshot wound to the head… but one chilling detail about the case was just uncovered.

Advertisement – story continues below

Despite the fact that the prosecutor’s death has been ruled a suicide, investigators were unable to locate a gun anywhere near his body.

“Police searched for two blocks north and south of the crime scene but couldn’t find the gun or any other weapon,” reported the Sun Sentinel.

Bizarrely, Whisenant’s career seemed to be moving up at the time of his death. He became a federal prosecutor for the Southern District of Florida just a few months ago. Additionally, the 38-year-old attorney was the father of three children.

Advertisement – story continues below

Even Whisenant’s family reportedly refuses to accept that he took his own life, and believe that he may have been murdered.

“One relative, Angela Padgett, the aunt of Beranton’s wife, contacted The Miami Herald to ask about progress in resolving what she said the family believes was a murder — by a gunshot to the head,” stated that newspaper.

A string of eerie deaths with various connections to the scandal-plagued DNC and Wasserman Schultz have caused pundits to ask if there is a connection. No direct links have been proven, but that hasn’t stopped observers from wondering if there is a pattern.

A man named Shawn Lucas died about this time last year after appearing in a viral video, which showed him serving legal papers that initiated a lawsuit against Wasserman Schultz and the DNC.

Advertisement – story continues below

That legal action centered on the allegation that Wasserman Schultz and others in the Democrat party committed fraud during the 2016 primary. Shawn Lucas was reportedly set to be one of the witnesses in that case before his untimely death.

The most famous DNC-connected death occurred when Democrat staffer Seth Rich was found murdered in Washington. Some investigators as well as renowned journalists believe that Rich was the source of the “Wikileaks emails,” which showed evidence of foul play by the DNC during the election.

As with Whisenant’s death, the official explanation of Rich’s murder — that it was a botched robbery — leaves more questions than answers. It is considered unsolved, and some researchers even think it might have been the work of a serial killer.

Peculiar and eerie circumstances such as an alleged suicide with no weapon only fuel the level of attention around these deaths.

They all may turn out to be unrelated, but there’s no denying that these types of strange incidents have left giant question marks in their wake.

‘Blonde Privilege’ Is Now A Thing And Yes It’s Racist

See the thing is, Donald Trump is blonde (or orange) and so are his daughter Ivanka and wife Melania so you knew that this would eventually be an issue for the insane left. As it turns out, “blonde privilege” is a thing and of course it is racist. I’m not sure why I continued to be surprise at how crazy liberals are, you’d think I’d be used to it by now, but they are pretty good at pushing the envelope of both sanity and decency.

“Political Peroxide – Blonde privilege” is a real article that was published by New York Magazine. It starts out with an very unflattering history of blonde people and then goes here:

And then, of course, there are the politics of hair color. Attributes associated with whiteness — light skin, narrow noses — have dominated American beauty ideals as long as there’s been such a thing. Which means that blondness has always been … charged

Charged? Oh, like this:

Fox News and Donald Trump have given blonde hair a new chapter: Now, blonde is the color of the right, for whom whiteness has become a hallmark. Over the past decade or so, as inclusiveness became the hallmark of Obama-era liberals, the left found feminist icons in Rachel Maddow, Samantha Power, and Michelle Obama, who make no apologies for their failure to fit traditional ideals. But #MAGA, Fox News America is a place where all the classic signifiers of privilege and wealth work on overdrive: country-club-issue blue blazers with brass buttons and khaki pants, and above all else, for women, that yellow-blonde, carefully tended hair — a dog whistle of whiteness, an unspoken declaration of values, a wink-wink to the power of racial privilege…

This rant goes on forever complaining about blonde women on Fox News and in President Trump’s inner circle.

The alt-blonde common on Fox News is a specific look: It’s layered and yellow and never too long. It’s controlled and polished and always in place…Panicked reports about dangerous immigrants and the president with Hussein for a middle name were presented by white women wearing snug dresses, with pert noses, bronze skin, blonde hair.

Awesome. Not only do we get “blonde privilege” now there’s the “alt-blonde” movement.

And then there are all the White House’s shades of blonde — the president likes men who look like generals and women who look like they all pledged the same sorority house. Many of Trump’s prominent female surrogates have blonde hair: Kellyanne Conway and Ivanka Trump, of course, but also the Trump daughters-in-law and the new-to-the-scene talking heads like Kayleigh McEnany…

At some point this lunacy addresses the fact that Hillary Clinton is blonde, but it’s okay, she’s not a privileged white supremacist like conservative blondes. Like everything else, it’s only bad when when conservatives do it. Hillary’s blonde hair gets a pass, which is weird considering she was mentored by the Grand Cyclops of the KKK and once owned black slaves. Maybe it’s just me, but that seems pretty racist.

On the other hand, this article fails to cite anything remotely racist by conservative blondes, but to liberals, not being a liberal is racism. I know it sounds silly, but they worked really hard on a set of rules and double-standards regarding racism.

Instead of calling blondes privileged and racist, the author should have clarified that only right-wing blondes are privileged and bigoted. It wouldn’t be any less crazy, but at least a little more accurate. You know, in case liberals suddenly find an interest in accuracy?

Workers Find Thug Stealing Tools… Bystander Records Hilarious Street Justice

Advertisement – story continues below

Sometimes, you have to take matters into your own hands — and that’s exactly what a group of construction workers just did in North Carolina.

The blue-collar crew in Charlotte reportedly caught a man trying to break into a construction vehicle and steal tools.

In a form of street justice, the men taped the suspect to some nearby scaffolding until police arrived… and the aftermath was caught on video.

Advertisement – story continues below

“I gotta do what I gotta do to hold you. You got no business in my truck,” one of the workers explained as the man was trussed up, according to WJZY, Fox 46 in Charlotte.

“I wasn’t breaking into it!” insisted the suspect. “I wasn’t in it! I was just checking it out.”

A bystander recorded the altercation, and told the local news what she saw.

Advertisement – story continues below

“You don’t stumble into those things but there I was,” said Tina Quizon, who is also a freelance videographer for WJZY. “The leg is taped to the scaffolding, they put a rope around his waist.”

“I was like, nobody is going to believe this,” she said.

Officers arrived quickly to the scene, and the suspected thief did not appear to be harmed, just embarrassed and indignant.

Advertisement – story continues below

After the video was posted on Facebook, it received over 8 million views. Many commenters tried to claim that detaining the suspect was somehow racist or cruel.

“This reminds me of slavery,” one commenter wrote. “They didn’t have to TORTURE him. They should be charged. Next time call the Police.”

The viewer was apparently ignoring that fact that the construction workers were clearly a mixed crew of blacks and Hispanics, and that the police arrived within minutes.

“Humiliating someone should be against the law too!” whined another commenter.

“Notice how most women who never served in this line of work or have any idea how expensive tools can be, are the ones defending this punk?” shot back another respondent.

“My job site got robbed in 2013, Took 8000 dollars worth of tools,” chimed in another Facebook user, who had no sympathy for the alleged would-be thief. “I’m guessing they got all of it in the bed of one truck. It doesn’t take many tools to start adding up to big bucks. It’s absolutely infuriating and that man deserves the humiliation.”

The fact is that a citizen’s arrest is completely legal under the right circumstances.

Like many states, North Carolina has a law — G.S. 15A-404(b) — which permits a citizen’s detention of criminal suspects.

“A private person may stop and detain another person when the private person has probable cause to believe that the other person has committed in his presence a (1) felony, (2) a breach of the peace, (3) a crime involving physical injury to another person, or (4) a crime involving theft or destruction of property,” explained Shea Denning, a professor of public law at the University of North Carolina, in a piece written for the UNC School of Government blog in 2014.

It seems likely that the alleged theft of valuable construction tools falls under that law.

There’s a difference between “playing cop” and stopping somebody who has been caught in the act.

It looks very likely that these construction workers just wanted to do their jobs, until a would-be thief tried to take their hard-earned living away from them.

Strapping a suspect to scaffolding until police arrive may unconventional, but it was probably exactly what needed to be done.

When did America lose its mind?

The Atlantic Magazine has a cover that purports to explain inside, “How America went haywire.”The very, very, very long cover story, titled “How America went crazy,” highlighted a variety of false beliefs that bedevil the sort of people who don’t read The Atlantic. For example:

A third of us believe not only that global warming is no big deal but that it’s a hoax perpetrated by scientists, the government, and journalists. A third believe that our earliest ancestors were humans just like us; that the government has, in league with the pharmaceutical industry, hidden evidence of natural cancer cures; that extraterrestrials have visited or are visiting Earth. Almost a quarter believe that vaccines cause autism, and that Donald Trump won the popular vote in 2016.

Andersen blames Rush Limbaugh for introducing an “alternative reality,” as if the media Rush critiqued were objective reality and El Rushbo a fantasist. As Clay Waters of Newsbusters summarized: “Andersen only portrays a single side of ideological slant, as if the major networks were fair and balanced before nasty Fox News came along.”

I have several ideas as to when America lost its mind that would never occur to writer Kurt Andersen or the editors of The Atlantic. Here are some of them.

America lost its mind:

When it started to believe Al Gore on climate change despite all the lies and false predictions.

When it believed repeated lies that if you liked your insurance and your doctor you could keep them and your premium would go down.

When the great society programs pretended they would reduce poverty instead of making people more dependent on government.

When it believed that food stamps and unemployment are the best stimulus programs, and allowing people and businesses to keep more of their own money is not.

When it reelected a president who left people to die in Libya while making up a lie to protect his political power. (The media never cared what Obama did that night. We still don’t know.)

When it was acceptable for an organization, founded by a racist woman fond of eugenics, to kill and dismember humans for profit.  (The Atlantic is a prolific and creative supporter of Planned Parenthood.)

I can think of many more reasons America lost its mind that would never occur to the folks at The Atlantic.
