LOVE WINS: Barbie Backs Same-Sex Marriage On Instagram

The beloved children’s toy Barbie has now backed same-sex marriage – about two years too late.

Posted to Instagram last week were two photos featuring the iconic doll, who turns 59 in March, wearing a “Love Wins” T-shirt created fashion designer Aimee Song.

The first photo features Barbie posing beside another doll designed to look like Aimee Song. The second photo shows the same two dolls in the same shirts enjoying avocado toast.

“Such an inspiring initiative and fabulous few days I have spent with Aimee, she’s a doll” reads the caption written from Barbie’s POV.

Song’s “Love Wins” shirts were introduced back in June for Pride Month in June; 50% of the proceeds were donated to The Trevor Project, which focuses LGBTQ youth suicide prevention.

“So many of my friends (actually most of them) are a part of the LGBTQ community, and I know that life was not always easy for them,” Song wrote on her official website at the time. “It absolutely breaks my heart that some kids take their own lives because they can’t see that it will get better in the end, and I’m happy that The Trevor Project exists to help those who need it.”

The company of Mattel has made 2017 the year of pushing progressive causes. Earlier this month, the toy complany announced it would use the likeness of Muslim Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad for a new doll in its “Shero” line, reportedly making it the first Barbie in history to wear a hijab.

Secret US Army Data Possibly Found on Public Server

Confidential US Army data may have been left online for anyone to view.

The trove of data was stored on an Amazon cloud server, and apparently configured for public access, according to Chris Vickery, a security researcher with UpGuard. Some of the exposed files were marked as Top Secret, and appeared to belong to US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), UpGuard said in a Tuesday blog post.

US Army Classified UpGuard

PCMag hasn’t been able to independently confirm the breach. The US Army and INSCOM didn’t immediately respond for a request for comment.

Vickery found the data on an Amazon Web Services S3 cloud storage bucket in September; all you needed to see it was the URL.

UpGuard DataThere was information on an Army program that’s designed to supply soldiers with real-time intelligence on the battlefield, as well as a virtual hard drive, and a Linux-based operating system that may have been designed to send and receive classified information. Neither the hard drive nor the OS were fully accessible unless connected to Pentagon systems, but the data certainly would have piqued the interest of foreign spies, UpGuard said.

INSCOM not only conducts intelligence opertions for the US Army, but it also partners with the US National Security Agency.

Why the data was stored on a public cloud server isn’t clear. But the information it carried was probably made available to a US defense contractor. UpGuard found the data contained private keys belonging to employees from Invertix, which is now owned by Altamira, a US government IT provider.

It isn’t the first time UpGuard has found sensitive-looking information exposed over a misconfigured Amazon cloud server. The US Defense Department, Verizon, and Dow Jones recently made similar mistakes by failing to make private data stored on Amazon Web Services.

Changing the permission settings to the AWS server can fix the problem. In the US Army case, Vickery said the data has been secured, but the responsible authorities haven’t commented about the potential leak. “It’s usually a one-way street with those types of entities. You don’t hear back much, if anything,” he said.

HP Accused of Quietly Installing Spyware on Windows PCs

The “service” is called HP Touchpoint Analytics Client and it is harvesting telemetry information without user consent and sending it to HP every day.

If you own a HP-branded Windows PC or laptop, it may be running a new “service” that you never opted to have installed and had no idea was constantly running in the background. It’s called HP Touchpoint Analytics Service, and it is being branded spyware.

According to Computerworld, the software appeared earlier this month and seems to have been deployed as part of a Windows update. It installs without asking for permission and then “harvests telemetry information that is used by HP Touchpoint’s analytical services.” The Analytics Client forms part of HP Touchpoint Manager and, according to ghacks.net, sends data to HP once every day.

It is currently unclear what data is being sent to a HP server on a daily basis. Some users are even reporting it slows their PC down, but thankfully that can be solved by uninstalling it. The official website for HP Touchpoint Manager describes it as a way off offloading “time-consuming tasks of device support and lifecycle management.” But surely this is a service you sign up to first?

To check whether the Analytics Service is installed and running, simply load up the Windows services interface by using Windows Key+R to bring up the run box then typing services.msc before hitting Enter. Check the services list that appears for “HP Touchpoint Analytics Client.” If present, double-click the entry, change startup type to disabled and select stop for the current session.

After the service has been stopped on your system you can uninstall it by using Windows Key+R once again and this time typing appwiz.cpl. When the installed programs list appears locate HP Touchpoint Manager, right click the name and select Uninstall. Once finished your system is free of the service.

We have contacted HP and are awaiting comment on exactly why this service is quietly being installed on Windows PCs.

NPR’s Cokie Roberts: Press Corps Covered Up Congressional Sexual Misconduct ‘For Years’

Appearing on ABC’s This Week, National Public Radio’s Cokie Roberts admitted that “for years” the female press corps has covered up sexual misconduct on Capitol Hill.

While speaking about John Conyers and Al Franken, two Democrats facing numerous sexual misconduct allegations, Roberts let this bomb matter-of-factly drop on the left-wing Sunday show, “I mean, we all talked about for years: ‘Don’t get in the elevator with him,’ you know, and the whole every-female in the press corps knew that, right, don’t get in elevator with him.”

Which “him” is Roberts referring to? Conyers? Franken? Are there others?

But back up just a moment– According to Roberts, “every” woman in the press corps knew that there was sexual misconduct going on in congress, knew that it was so brazen and so permissive that not even a female reporter was safe on an elevator, and NO ONE REPORTED IT?

No one bothered to inform the public?

How do things get so brazen that a Conyers or a Franken or a whomever feels perfectly  safe groping a journalist on an elevator? I will tell you how — when said groper knows there will be no accountability for his behavior.

I am 51-years-old, and I have seen a bit of the world;  I have seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion and I have watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. But something I have never seen is a man grope a woman without her consent.

Yet, according to Roberts, our wonderful, glorious, utterly useless press corps knew for years this was going on in congress and covered it up, said nothing, let it slide, ENABLED It, and through their silence, encouraged it.

What else are they covering up? What else are they allowing to happen in order to protect scumbags?

Other than the fact that our elites suck, this is my theory…

As we all know, Cokie Roberts is a lefty, as is 99% of the female press corps. Does anyone doubt, then, that the primary elevator gropers are/were Democrats, are/wereTed Kennedy/Franken/Conyers-types who voted the way in which the females press corps wanted them to vote, so a little snatch of media-bootie in an elevator was considered a small price to pay for abortion-on-demand?

And this is why, in my opinion, congress has gotten away  with covering up these taxpayer-funded sexual harassment settlements for two decades. The media has known about this. Of course they have/ Nothing was reported, though, because the names on that list are primarily Democrat “icons” like Conyers.

Even now, even when we know about this secret fund, the media’s interest in the story, in exposing the wrongdoers, is practically non-existent. This should be the biggest story in the world, the narrative dominating everything else. It is all there — a $17 million slush fund, cover ups, corruption, sex — but the media does not really care. Just last week, the left-wing Politico was downplaying this outrage, hoping to wrist-flick it all away. And I think we all know why…

Democrats sure got it good.

BOOM! Descendant of Pocahontas is YUGE Trump Supporter — Says He Will Be AMERICA’S HERO! (VIDEO)

Debbie “White Dove” Porreco, a descendant of Pocahontas is a YUGE Trump-supporter. In a September interview with Sky News, Porreco revealed she is in no way offended when President Trump calls Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) “Pocahontas.”

Porreco believes President Trump will be America’s hero.

Amazing.

Daily Caller reports:

In a September interview with Sky News, Debbie “White Dove” Porreco said that Trump once asked her if it offended her that he used the name “Pocahontas” to refer to the Democratic senator.

“I know that he uses ‘Pocahontas’ sometimes with Elizabeth Warren,” Porreco explained. “He said, ‘well does that offend you when I use that?’ And I told him no, it doesn’t offend me.”

“If Pocahontas were alive today, she would be very proud of President Trump,” Porreco said. “Just like Pocahontas was a heroine, Donald Trump is going to be our hero.”

“Sometimes when I’m dining at Mar-a-Lago, I think to myself, ‘You’ve come a long way from that Indian reservation you started in.Pocahontas had dreams and went to England. My dreams brought me to Palm Beach,” Porreco told Sky News.

Sky News compared Porreco’s views with anti-Trump Irene Bedard, the voice of Pocahontas in the Disney movie. Why would anyone care what a fake Pocahontas has to say when her real descendant is speaking out?

Never Trump Plant in Alabama: ‘Write In’ Against Conservative Roy Moore Attended Liberal Dem Doug Jones Fundraiser

Never Trump Plant in Alabama: ‘Write In’ Against Conservative Roy Moore Attended Liberal Dem Doug Jones Fundraiser

“Never-Trump” Alabama Senate “write-in” candidate Lee Busby attended a fundraiser for liberal Democrat candidate Doug Jones.

Busby, a retired Marine colonel and former aide to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, announced on Monday that he will launch a last-minute write-in campaign against Republican nominee Alabama Judge Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones.

Busby admitted that he attended a fundraiser for Doug Jones and even voted for Ohio governor and infamous public eater John Kasich in 2016 Republican presidential primary.

Lee Busby argued that the allegations of sexual misconduct against Roy Moore created an opening for an establishment, centrist candidate to launch a third-party run for the December 12 Alabama Senate race.

Busby said, “I think you can flip this thing. If this were a military operation, the left flank and the right flank are heavily guarded. I think that gives you an opportunity to run straight up the middle.”

Busby’s write-in campaign mirrors Evan McMullin’s third party bid in the 2016 presidential election. McMullin, nicknamed “McMuffin” by Trump supporters, admitted during the presidential election that if he could not stop Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump from being elected president, he would be “happy” just stopping Trump from becoming the 45th president.

McMullin, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operations officer and Goldman Sachs employee, announced a “Never-Trump” candidacy to upset the election in favor of Hillary Clinton by appealing to Mormon voters in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho. His establishment insurgency failed to win any electoral votes and failed to win Utah, which features a strong Mormon voting base.

Bubsy has no campaign website or any serious campaign ground game. The former aide to John Kelly hopes to rely on social media to spread the word about his campaign. Identifying himself as an independent candidate, Bubsy, who retired from the Marine Corps in 2013, intends to emphasize his experience as a military leader, as well as his background as an investment banker, defense contractor, and entrepreneur.

The third-party candidate contends that both Moore and Jones should not serve in the U.S. Senate.

“I just don’t believe that either one of them are qualified to be in the U.S. Senate,” Busby argued.

He cites the sexual allegations against Moore as having “created enough distaste in my mind” to rule out support for the Republican nominee. He lists Democrat candidate Jones’ extreme abortion positions as disqualifying for Alabama voters.

A Raycom News Network survey found that only three percent of Alabamians plan to vote for a write-in candidate for the Alabama Senate race.

A recent poll revealed that Roy Moore has a seven-point lead over Jones.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) launched a war against Roy Moore after Moore won the Alabama Republican primary runoff election to replace then-Sen. Jeff Sessions’ (R-AL). McConnell called for Moore to resign in the wake of the accusations that Moore made inappropriate advances towards multiple teenage girls.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), an establishment Republican, said on Sunday, “It would be better for the country’ if Moore stepped aside.

Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel argued that Alabama voters will be the “judge and jury” of Roy Moore –compared to McConnell, Speaker Paul Ryan, and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who all have called on Moore to drop out of the race.

ABC’s Cokie Roberts said that with President Donald Trump’s endorsement, “It is going to be very hard to defeat” Roy Moore.

College Campuses And The Origins Of The New Totalitarianism

Amazon has sold out of Hannah Arendt’s The Origins of Totalitarianism, a work that engaged the question of why totalitarianism came into being. Speculation has it that the newfound interest in Arendt emanates from the rise of Donald Trump. If so, readers of The Origins are going to be sadly disappointed.

For the precious few who will attempt to wade through Arendt’s subtle and difficult concepts, not to mention sentences that seem to go on forever, it will become obvious that ground zero of totalitarianism’s resurgence is not the White House but the college campus.

Whereas the essence of democracy, as Tocqueville so brilliantly notes, is compromise and conciliation, the essence of totalitarianism is that truth is whatever the movement says it is. Different ideas are to be quashed.

The individual who believes that politics is a series of negotiations or deal making is hardly a totalitarian. By contrast, the diversity administrator who organizes a bunch of pubescent thugs who have been inculcated in the belief that truth is that which advances the interests of their identity and those who share it, is a totalitarian. He or she is no different from those who mobilized Hitler’s Brownshirts to shut down intellectuals whose ideas were not sanctioned by the Nazi movement.

As Nazism rose, Einstein’s theory of relativity became Jewish physics. Freud’s psychoanalysis became Jewish psychology. In 1933, when Hitler consolidated his power, Jews dominated classical music in both Germany and Austria. Yet, not only were Jewish conductors and musicians banned, so too were works written by Jews. The same censorship extended to art and literature.

This is the campus mentality that prevents conservative speakers from setting foot on campus and disrupts their speeches when they do. They have either the wrong identity or the wrong ideas and sometimes both.

Some years ago, I attended a lecture by Daniel Pipes at the University of California, Berkeley. At the venue, we were required to go through security procedures almost identical to those at any airport. Inside, university police lined the walls on both sides of the auditorium.

Pipes had barely begun to speaking when some started shouting him down. Campus police repeatedly had to physically remove the disrupters, who were mostly Muslims. After a series of orchestrated disruptions, the group of protesters got up as one and left.

By contrast, the most radical speakers from the Left can appear on any campus without the need for police protection or concern about disruption. It cost the University of California, Berkeley $600,000 in security expenses to guard against threats when mainstream conservative Ben Shapiro spoke on campus.

Generally, schools are as unlikely to discipline students who disrupt conservative speakers as they are to wage demonization campaigns against radical leftist speakers the way they do against conservatives.

On nearly every campus there is now a diversity bureaucracy whose very existence depends on characterizing people as enemies of identity groups and mobilizing compliant students to oppose them. Conservative speakers provide justification for the bureaucracy’s ludicrous existence.

The disruption of the free exchange of ideas transforms the very essence of a university from a place dedicated to the search for the truth to a place where only certain ideas can be heard, a place dedicated to propaganda.

This is not just a breakdown of an institution but the beginning of the breakdown of society. Individuals are important only insofar as they fit into identity categories. The truth is whatever advances the interests of protected groups. Compromise and conciliation are not valued, for compromise and conciliation are not possible with the oppressor. Normalization is viewed as the enemy of the chaos and disruption on which totalitarian mindset feeds.

These are values that are antithetical to the functioning of a viable democracy. They are, as Arendt notes, the basis of totalitarianism. They are not the values our universities should teach.

Liberal Reporters Fear Press Not Attacking GOP Enough

On CBS’s Face the Nation, moderator John Dickerson asked his political roundtable if there were any stories they felt were not getting enough news coverage. Predictably, the liberal journalists on the panel fretted that Republican efforts on the state level to “ban abortion” and engage in “voter suppression” were happening “completely under the radar.”

After Dickerson encouraged the pundits to highlight “something that you’ve noticed that’s been happening that deserves more attention that’s out there,” USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page chimed in: “If look at even a hot-button issue like abortion, Republican state legislators have managed to pass bans on abortion in some circumstances.”

She warned viewers:

Just in the last six months since the last election, in five states, bans on abortion in certain circumstances. Eleven states, major restrictions on abortion. In three states, new restrictions on funding for Planned Parenthood.

Page seemed to even use the issue to make a get-out-the-vote pitch to Democrats: “And that shows the importance of the midterms next year, not just for Congress, for these state legislatures too.”

<<< Please support MRC’s NewsBusters team with a tax-deductible contribution today. >>>

Slate Magazine’s Jamelle Bouie followed up by claiming that supposed GOP efforts to keep minorities from voting were being ignored: “I think lost in these conversations about African-American voters is the very real fact that efforts at voter suppression are ongoing in the states. Efforts to sort of restrict access to the ballot.”

He then started hurling accusations at the Trump administration: “And then, on the federal level, it is simply the case of President Trump’s cabinet members – Attorney General Jeff Sessions has been remarkably successful at turning the Justice Department’s mission away from its charge of defending the civil rights of Americans.”

“And I think that’s going completely under the radar in our sort of focus on whatever the President is saying on any given day,” Bouie concluded.

Dickerson didn’t actually require his guests to bash Republicans, they could have mentioned any topic, but both just naturally had the instinct to attack the GOP.

Here is a transcript of the November 27 exchange:

10:42 AM ET

(…)

JOHN DICKERSON: I want to end with a philosophical question – Susan, I’ll start with you – which is there’s a lot of things that get covered but there’s stuff that doesn’t get covered in these periods. And I wondered if each of you have an idea, something that you’ve noticed that’s been happening that deserves more attention that’s out there. Susan?

SUSAN PAGE: You know, one of the things that we’ve talked about on this roundtable is how the Republicans have been unsuccessful in delivering anything since winning unified control of the Washington capital. But if you look at state capitals, that’s not the case, big Republican gains there.

If look at even a hot-button issue like abortion, Republican state legislators have managed to pass bans on abortion in some circumstances. Just in the last six months since the last election, in five states, bans on abortion in certain circumstances. Eleven states, major restrictions on abortion. In three states, new restrictions on funding for Planned Parenthood.

So the Gridlock that has affected Washington has not affected state capitals. And the Republicans who have made big gains there. And that shows the importance of the midterms next year, not just for Congress, for these state legislatures too.

DICKERSON: State legislatures.

JAMELLE BOUIE [SLATE MAGAZINE]: So in our conversation about Alabama, we talked about black voters in the state and their enthusiasm their enthusiasm. Before the Virginia election, there was a lot of talk about black voters and their enthusiasm, but I think lost in these conversations about African-American voters is the very real fact that efforts at voter suppression are ongoing in the states. Efforts to sort of restrict access to the ballot.

And then, on the federal level, it is simply the case of President Trump’s cabinet members – Attorney General Jeff Sessions has been remarkably successful at turning the Justice Department’s mission away from its charge of defending the civil rights of Americans. And I think that’s going completely under the radar in our sort of focus on whatever the President is saying on any given day.
