Shepard Smith criticized some of the shows on the Fox News network, and Laura Ingraham, who hosts one of those shows, let him know publicly she wasn’t happy about it.
Here’s what Shepard Smith said
In an interview with Time magazine, Smith remarked on the differences between the opinion side of the news channel and the hard news side.
“We serve different masters,” he explained. “We work for different reporting chains, we have different rules.”
“They don’t really have rules on the opinion side,” he added. “They can say whatever they want. If it’s their opinion. I don’t really watch a lot of opinion programming. I’m busy.”
“I get it,” Smith continued, “that some of our opinion programming is there strictly to be entertaining. I get that. I don’t work there. I wouldn’t work there. I don’t want to sit around and yell at each other and talk about your philosophy and my philosophy. That sounds horrible to me.”
Smith has often been at odds with the narratives from other shows on Fox News – in November he took on the Uranium One scandal and argued that much of it was exaggerated or misreported.
Here’s how Ingraham responded:
“Always liked Shep, but his comments were inconsiderate & inaccurate,” she tweeted Friday.
Always liked Shep, but his comments were inconsiderate & inaccurate. The hard working team at the Ingraham Angle does real reporting, develops impt sources and scores big interviews. Very proud of them. https://t.co/3aR1EHAK3Z
