President Donald Trump celebrated the firing of now-former deputy director of the FBI Andrew McCabe late Friday night and said the move would prove to be positive for the FBI and America.
He even managed to bash McCabe’s former boss, former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired last May.
What did he say?
Shortly after midnight, Trump tweeted: “Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI – A great day for Democracy. Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy. He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI!”

Trump’s relationship with McCabe was tumultuous at best. Trump was often critical of McCabe, who seemingly had many conflicts of interest, including having a wife whose political career was partially funded by former Virginia Mayor Terry McAuliffe (D), a close friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Trump actually noted this on Twitter last year — many times, in fact.
The president even once trolled McCabe and tweeted he was “racing the clock to retire with full benefits.”
FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is racing the clock to retire with full benefits. 90 days to go?!!!

Prior to his termination, McCabe was set to earn a full, very lucrative, government law enforcement pension for his more than 20 years of service at the FBI. Many believed McCabe would retire on or just after Sunday — his 50th birthday — which was the earliest date he could have retired.
Now, according to CNN, McCabe’s benefit’s package is very much in the air, though it likely isn’t completely gone. Many noted on Twitter Friday that any government office could pick McCabe up for a few days, so he could hit his required retirement mark.
One suggestion from a McCabe supporter: if a friendly member of Congress hired him for a week he could possibly qualify for pension benefits by extending his service the extra days

Mr McCabe is right to worry about Trump’s unprecedented threat to the rule of law. He is not right to worry about his pension; I am sure many many loyal Americans from every political persuasion will join me in contributing to a fund for him and his family. The truth will prevail https://t.co/mywEVeeW3o
