Not ‘Strong Enough’: Sarah Sanders Defends Trump Comments About Violent Illegal MS-13 Members

But media and Democrats went into overdrive lying that it was about immigrants in general.

Via Washington Examiner:

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders defended President Trump on Thursday amid growing backlash over his use of the word “animals” to describe immigrant members of the MS-13 gang, saying she would have used an even stronger term.

Several Democratic lawmakers and members of the media criticized the president on Wednesday after he used the term during a meeting about illegal immigrants and sanctuary city policies. Some claimed he was referring to all immigrants, even though he was responding to an attendee’s complaint about MS-13 gang members.

“The president was very clearly referring to MS-13 gang members who enter the country illegally and whose deportations are hamstrung by our laws,” Sanders said.

Who Needs Computers in the Classroom? Not Students

Last month Adi Robertson wrote an award-worthy mini history of the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) fiasco, which many of us have long forgotten about. Near the end, this quote stuck out: “What the project did not demonstrate is that kids could use computers for learning.”

OpinionsIt’s a point that needs to be reiterated as the never-ending push to load up the classroom with computers goes unabated.

OLPC is the brainchild of Seymour Papert, an early promoter of computers in the classroom and was soon co-opted by the MIT Media Lab and its extraordinary promoter/director Nick Negroponte, who wowed the World Economic Forum with a $100 prototype.

The whole raison d’etre, though, for the idea stems from the mistaken belief that computers in the hands of children or, for that matter, computers in the classroom are a good thing by definition.

Ironically, as OLPC emerged, a true revolution was taking place that was indeed putting computers in the hands of children around the world: the introduction of the iPhone in 2007. But none of this is education in the traditional sense. Even as a teaching machine utilizing specific learning software, the computer is second to a teacher guiding a student through a chapter in a book.

The computer can beand isused as a testing station. It does that well. Papers can be written on the computer. The student can learn keyboarding and some programming skills. It can expedite the submission of papers and speed up the writing process. But as a raw teaching tool, the computer has never been that good.

If there is nothing else available and you have one teacher per 200 students, then maybe it’s better than nothing. But the machines are expensive and need constant replacement. In short, the whole computers in the classroom idea was a Silicon Valley scam to dump computers and complex networking gear on some suckers with a government purse.

The money is better spent on sincere and hard-working teachers whose job it is to teach and can do a better job than a Windows 10 rig.

So what needs to be done? At this point in history, kids do need computer literacy skills and one classroom filled with machines where computer literacy and coding is taught. This lab would also be available to students to do homework and write papers if they have no equipment at home.

The architecture would be internet-centric, but not dependent. Students would have their homework as storage on personal USB thumb drives. Everyone would be taught how to use the technology to the point where, for example, they understood the difference between RAM, disk memory, flash memory, and ROM in its various forms. I am shocked how many people cannot understand these differences.

If you begin to research computers in the classroom, the search tends to bring up “the benefits of…” and article after article extols these benefits, all written on behalf of people selling computers. When you look at real research such as the OECD report on Students, Computers and Learning, the usefulness is quite sketchy and may even have a negative influence.

And to my way of thinking computers invite time-wasting especially when they are of the handheld phone variety. Just look at the zombies!

So let’s take this pull-quote used on the OLPC article seriously: “What the project did not demonstrate is that kids could use computers for learning.” Always keep that in mind.

Millennial Conservative Candace Owens Ignites Snowflake Meltdown Nationwide

Candace Owens – a black conservative – takes a page from President Donald Trump’s playbook when encountering unhinged liberals: she is fearless.

Her career, at the tender age of 28, has accelerated to the point of making the Nancy Pelosis and Chuck Schumers very nervous, given her growing national popularity to ignite ideological warfare among leftist-indoctrinated blacks, including Millennials on college campuses.

She treads where few conservatives are willing to go, especially white Republicans.  “We need to get off the Maxine Waters plantation,” says Owens, taking aim at one of the most accomplished race-baiters in the Black Caucus.  The new concept, says Owens, is to hold Democrats “accountable” for their “shameful” record of service to America, speaking as communications director of Turning Point USA.

Waters’s abysmal political career of 27 years (repeat: 27 years) remains enshrined in a district (Compton, Calif.) teeming with local corruption and shocking levels of criminal activity.  “She lives in her $6 million mansion (in Hancock Park) while black people continue to suffer,” Owens adds.  “And all she does is talk about race.  Black leaders are engaged in the race business.”

Ardent leftists – who ignore her dismal record – can’t get enough of “Auntie Maxine” devoting so much of her time to hyper-partisan views on racial inequality and calling for the president’s impeachment.

It’s a good thing Owens loves going after the race-baiters, because she encounters more than her fair share on college campuses.  Her rare brand of talking points for Millennials to change their victim mindset – especially students of color – doesn’t always receive the warmest reception.  “Why are you screaming about Jim Crow and slavery?” asks Owens of students waving “Black Lives Matter” signs at a recent UCLA speaking engagement.  “You didn’t live through anything.  You’re just a bunch of over-privileged Americans.”

Her appearances are now igniting national debate, spilling over into better polling numbers for President Trump.  Famous rapper Kanye West posted his support of Owens on social media, triggering responses from millions of supporters and haters.  All the commotion was over the rapper’s one-line endorsement: “I like the way she thinks.”

President Trump thanked Kanye for stepping out of the groupthink tank among blacks, and the commander-in-chief watched his polling numbers of support nearly double among black males.

Democrats are right to be nervous because Owens, and black conservatives like her, keep driving a stake through the heart of Democratic messaging.

“You’re never getting off the federal plantation talking about the past,” Owens said, debating a group of BLM flag-wavers at her UCLA talk.  “I don’t know why people embrace being oppressed.  It is so embarrassing.  You act like ‘I love being oppressed.’  You can either be a victim or a victor.”

Her last line provoked a rarely witnessed cultural shift among students breaking into applause for the young speaker – signaling their choosing the label of “victor” over “victim.”  It most likely was disorienting for the BLM hecklers to be challenged as alleged “victims” while shouting out insults in a seemingly safe space for race-baiting: academia.

No subject appears off limits in Owens’s world.  She now has been committing the unthinkable by challenging the legacy of a political leader deemed untouchable in her minority community: former president Barack Obama.

Owens had the temerity to suggest, “We have so many great results in the black community because of Donald Trump” and not Obama, ticking off the unprecedented regulatory rollback, corporate tax cuts, and record low unemployment rates.  “Black people are starting to wake up[.] … We need new black leadership.”

“I don’t think we should spend any time putting down Obama,” said a political opponent during an open-forum panel that later appeared on YouTube.  “We made progress under a black president.”

“Progress is not a skin tone,” Owens shot back.  “Progress is a number.”

Owens’s insights on Obama are tantamount to treason among many in her community, but she plows ahead, oftentimes trampling on liberal sensitivities.  “For so long we’ve been convinced the photo opportunity of Beyoncé and Jay-Z was something,” says Owens, referring to the constant stream of black celebrities invited to the Obama White House.  “It meant absolutely nothing.”

“They [Democrats] have erected a mental prison for all of us,” she tells black students at many of her college stops.  “When someone runs off the Democratic plantation, they [liberals] send the dogs out.”

One can’t help but wonder whether Owens’s ancestors were among the first to throw off the “mental shackles” of slavery (the worst kind) and escape the plantation life, without so much as a glance backward.

White House: Liberals, Media Are Welcome to Defend ‘Disgusting’ MS-13 Gang

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said President Donald Trump’s referral to MS-13 as "animals" didn’t go far enough in describing its "disgusting" members, adding liberals and the press were welcome to defend the gang.

Trump was criticized for reportedly referring to illegal immigrants in general Wednesday as "animals" during remarks at the White House, but he was responding to a statement about MS-13 when he spoke. Numerous media outlets left out the MS-13 comments in their reporting on what he said.

"The president was very clearly referring to MS-13 gang members who enter the country illegally and whose deportations are hamstrung by our laws," Sanders said.

She called it one of the most vicious and deadly gangs, noting its motto of, "Rape, Control, Kill." In what seemed to be a reference to people taking exception to Trump calling people "animals" in general, Sanders said they were "welcome" to defend MS-13.

"If the media and liberals want to defend MS-13, they’re more than welcome to," she said. "Frankly, I don’t the term that the president used was strong enough. MS-13 has done heinous acts."

"It took an animal to stab a man 100 times and decapitate him and rip his heart out," she added. "It took an animal to beat a woman they were sex trafficking with a bat 28 times, indenting part of her body. And it took an animal to kidnap, drug and rape a 14-year-old Houston girl."

Sanders said Trump should continue to use his everything in the government’s power to stop these "horrible, disgusting people."

John Harwood on Murderous Gang Members: They ‘Are Human Beings’

As though it wasn’t bad enough that some journalists are distorting Donald Trump’s attacks on the murderous MS-13 gang, journalist John Harwood on Thursday tweeted a sympathetic spin for the vicious killers.

Instead of altering the President’s comments to be an attack on all immigrants (as others did), the CNBC reporter offered this take on the criminals who dismember their victims. He tweeted: “However repugnant their actions, MS-13 gang members are human beings IMHO.”

Harwood sounds tougher on Republicans than he does on MS-13 killers. During the October 28, 2015 GOP presidential debate, he sneered to Trump: “Let’s be honest. Is this a comic book version of a presidential campaign?”

On April 23, 2005, Harwood described Republicans as “evil”: “I believe it is true that a significant chunk of the press believes that Democrats are incompetent but good-hearted, and Republicans are very efficient but evil.”

Perhaps thinking of people like Mr. Harwood, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders on Thursday said that reporters want to defend MS-13, “they’re more than welcome to.”

Also on Twitter, MSNBC host Chris Hayes dismissed the MS-13 controversy as “nonsense.”

On Wednesday and Thursday, journalists distorted Trump’s comments, which were about MS-13, and made them about “undocumented immigrants.”

Cruz Blasts Anti-Israel Media Bias in Wake of Violence at Gaza Border

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) on Thursday blasted the media’s anti-Israel bias in the wake of recent violent riots at the Gaza-Israel border organized by the terrorist group Hamas.

Cruz took to the Senate floor where, as an example of the bias, he held up a story from Monday’s New York Times, titled "Israel Kills Dozens at Gaza Border as U.S. Embassy Opens in Jerusalem."

"We can count on global media elites acting as little more than propaganda arms for Hamas and other terrorists and no week has that been more evident than this week," Cruz said.

"For several weeks, we’ve seen riots and violent attacks at Israel’s border, terrorist attacks that culminated in the attacks that led to these shootings in self-defense," Cruz said. "The rioters, they use massive tire fires to create smoke to cover their attacks, they use guns, they use pipe bombs, they use molotov cocktails, they use grenades, they use mechanical catapults to attack the border and to attack Israeli troops. They tie petrol bombs to kites and they launch them to set fire to Israeli fields and livestock."

Over the past seven weeks, thousands of Palestinians living in Hamas-controlled Gaza have gathered at the Gaza border for what organizers call the "March of Return," and clashed with Israeli soldiers. The demonstrations this week became particularly violent as the 70th anniversary of the creation of the modern state of Israel approached and the U.S. embassy in Israel officially moved to Jerusalem. Some of the Palestinians at the border, including terrorist operatives, attacked Israeli soldiers with Molotov cocktails and other weapons as they attempted to breach the border fence.

Cruz, who attended the U.S. embassy dedication on Monday, blasted the New York Times for not including pictures of Hamas’ kites with swastikas or their maps with directions to Israelis intended to make it easier to kill them. He further criticized the media for burying the fact that the violent protesters used molotov cocktails and other weapons against Israelis.

Israel received international criticism for killing dozens of Palestinians, the majority of whom Hamas reported to be part of its group, during the riots. The White House said responsibility for any bloodshed laid with Hamas.

Cruz said as a result of their bias reporting, the New York Times and other outlets who wrote similar stories should not be surprised when they are labeled "fake news."

Report: Inspector General Will Declare FBI, DOJ Broke Law in Clinton Email Probe

A new report suggests an imminent Inspector General (IG) report may rule that FBI and Justice Department officials broke the law in their handling the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

Investigative reporter Paul Sperry said Thursday that Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz has “found ‘reasonable grounds’ for believing there has been a violation of federal criminal law in the FBI/DOJ’s handling of the Clinton investigation/s,” adding that the top watchdog official has “referred his findings of potential criminal misconduct to Huber for possible criminal prosecution.”

In response to growing calls for a second special counsel to probe the Clinton email probe, along with FISA abuses that took place during the 2016 election, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced in March the appointment of Utah’s top federal prosecutor, John Huber, to probe potential wrongdoing.

It was revealed this week that the Inspector General’s highly-anticipated report was submitted for review.

Those invited to review the report were told they would have to sign nondisclosure agreements in order to read it, people familiar with the matter said. They are expected to have a few days to craft a response to any criticism in the report, which will then be incorporated in the final version to be released in coming weeks,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

Multiple reports suggest the report will be made public by the end of May.

Supporters of Seattle Tax Hike Chant ‘We’ll Be Back for More’

Supporters of a Seattle tax hike on large businesses chanted "we’ll be back for more" after its passage on Monday.

The Seattle City Council unanimously approved the so-called "head tax," which will charge large businesses like Amazon and Starbucks $275 per full-time worker each year. It will raise $48 million to pay for services combating the city’s homelessness problem.

In a video flagged by Americans for Tax Reform, advocates holding signs with slogans like "Reject Capitalism’s Race to the Bottom" shouted for further taxes on major companies.

Seattle just told the world that if you bring jobs to Seattle, the tax and spenders in the city will tax them," ATR President Grover Norquist said in a statement. "A little now. More later. Better to invest in a different city, perhaps a different state."

Large companies ripped the decision to levy the large tax hike. According to Fox News, it will affect 600 employers in Seattle that make at least $20 million annually in gross revenue.

"The city does not have a revenue problem – it has a spending efficiency problem," Drew Herdener, Amazon vice president, said in a statement. "We are highly uncertain whether the city council’s anti-business positions or its spending inefficiency will change for the better."

THANK GOD: Pope Francis Hints At Retirement

THANK GOD: Pope Francis Hints At Retirement

Since his election in 2013, Pope Francis remained one of the more controversial far-left liberal popes in the history of the Catholic Church. You may remember his continuous endorsements of socialism and socialist ‘ideals’. You may also remember when TGP reported Francis told believers that Muslim terrorism does not exist and the dangers of radicalism exists equally in all religions. While it may seem far-fetched, the Pope also instructed the Vatican newspaper to praise Karl Marx

Well, all things *may* be reverting back to normal soon, as it has just come out that the Pope is exploring retirement. THANK GOD.

During the Pope’s Tuesday homily, Pope Francis made the remark, “When I read this, I think about myself, because I’m a bishop and I’ll have to take my leave.”

He went further to say that Pope Benedict XVI’s retirement “opened the door” to the resignation of future popes.

Pope Francis has yet to directly say if he definitively will retire and what that timeline would look like.
