CBS ‘Sunday Morning’ Year in Review Touts ‘Peaceful’ Protests, Skips Looting and Riots

MRC’s Brent Baker reported on Sunday that in a brief year-in-review segment, fill-in CBS Sunday Morning host Lee Cowan contrasted "armed protesters" in Michigan’s capital with the "justice and inequality" protesters across the country. One sounded dangerous, and the other was supposedly peaceful.
Somehow, in rounding up the year, all the looting and rioting from New York to Minneapolis and Kenosha — and more than 100 nights in Portland — just slipped everyone’s mind at CBS News. It fell down a memory hole. There was also no time to evaluate how "defund the police" initiatives were followed by higher crime rates.

LEE COWAN: Tensions over COVID took center stage in April, when armed demonstrators took to the Michigan State capitol to protest stay-at-home orders. In May, the nation`s focus shifted to justice and inequality–
GEORGE FLOYD: I can’t breathe.
LEE COWAN: –after the death of George Floyd–
MAN #1: I can’t breathe!
CROWD (in unison): I can’t breathe!
LEE COWAN: –sparking protests all around the country. A peaceful protest near the White House was broken up in June in order to allow President Trump to pose outside a church, holding a Bible.
Cowan also skipped how vandals set St. John’s Episcopal Church on fire the night before, which inspired this pose for law and order.
For anyone keeping score at home, this is the same liberal Lee Cowan who confessed back in 2008 that "When NBC News first assigned me to the Barack Obama campaign, I must confess my knees quaked a bit….his campaign was truly historic. I wondered if I was up to the job. I wondered if I could do the campaign justice. I wondered if the experience would swallow me whole."
