Watch: Normally Mild-Mannered Orrin Hatch Mocks, Enrages Anti-Kavanaugh Protesters

Over the past few weeks — and over the last week and a half in particular — we’ve seen a flowering of anti-Kavanaugh protesters in the Capitol Building using moral blackmail as a tool to bludgeon anyone who might dare support the Supreme Court nominee.

The most infamous case, of course, involved Sen. Jeff Flake being harangued by liberal protesters in an elevator, but we’ve seen plenty of other instances. What always amazes me (and what never seems to be of interest to the media) is the fact that these protesters seem to be omnipresent in the Capitol — regardless of security issues — and that there are always cameras present wherever they are.

But I digress. The point is that the media expects these Republican senators to stand there and take it. If they don’t, stop the presses — it’s time for a meltdown.

Most of the media meltdowns thus far have involved Lindsey Graham, who’s suddenly transformed from a professional milquetoast into a paladin of full-contact conservatism.

However, Utah’s Orrin Hatch also managed to get some attention for his response, with the normally mild-mannered Republican telling protesters to “grow up.”

The protest was the usual affair: Sound and fury, along with the usual stridency we’ve become accustomed to.

“Why aren’t you brave enough to talk to us and exchange with us?” one protester screamed, apparently under the impression that bravery is talking with an activist who’s screaming “Why aren’t you brave enough to talk to us and exchange with us?” at you.

Do you think Brett Kavanaugh should be confirmed to the Supreme Court?

When Hatch waves his hand at the demonstrator, she shouts back, “Don’t you wave your hand at me!” Yes, because that’s clearly the kind of person you want to “exchange with.”

As for that prospect, Hatch pretty much told them that the answer was never.

“When you grow up I’ll be glad to,” Hatch said.

“How dare you talk to women that way?” one of the protesters said.

Yes, because women are every bit the equal of men. Unless, of course, the chivalric code works out to their favor, then how dare you talk to women that way?

According to The Hill, the protest came right after Hatch said there was no corroboration of any of the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh contained in the new FBI report and that the Senate should vote to confirm him.

“After investigations from both the committee and FBI, we have found nothing to corroborate accusations against him and we need to confirm him right away,” Hatch said.

“His confirmation will be a victory for the Senate as an institution.”

Not only that, but it will be a victory for reason over the cacophony of media-approved dissidence. Thank God for that.
