The Missouri lawmaker who called for President Donald Trump’s assassination on Facebook in August compared the president to Adolf Hitler with a meme she posted to social media on Thursday.
Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal tweeted a photograph of Trump taking his shirt off to reveal that he is Hitler – a move that outraged many on the social media platform.
“The meme has been shared among St. Louis protesters for nearly a week now. It’s old and support the protesters fighting against brutality,” Chappelle-Nadal told the News-Leader. “I also support Puerto Rico since that is where my family lives and are suffering. Two of which are military veterans. I’ve been mainly posting about Puerto Rico and St. Louis protests.”
Chappelle-Nadal was nearly expelled from the Missouri Senate in September for her Facebook post in August that said “I hope Trump is assassinated!”
At the time her post garnered national attention and after initially refusing to apologize, the senator swore up-and-down she would never do anything like that ever again.
“I made a mistake, and I’m owning up to it. And I’m not ever going to make a mistake like that again,” she told reporters in August.
