Taylor Swift Latest Liberal Elite to Politicize Tragedy… Promotes March for Our Lives

If it’s a day ending in “y,” there’s usually a celebrity out there trying to politicize controversy or tragedy, almost always on the liberal side of things.

Friday, that celebrity was Taylor Swift.

In a post on Instagram, Swift promoted the “March for Our Lives,” the political movement that seeks gun control legislation in response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that killed 17 individuals.

“No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence. Or to a nightclub. Or to a concert. Or to a movie theater. Or to their place of worship,” Swift said in the post.

“I’ve made a donation to show my support for the students, for the March For Our Lives campaign, for everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform,” Swift continued.

“I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again.”

The March for Our Lives movement has essentially been borne out of the political activities of the vocal liberal survivors of the Parkland shooting — survivors of an unspeakable tragedy who have been astroturfed by Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group Everytown for Gun Safety and promoted incessantly in the media.

Do you think Swift’s politicization of tragedy was uncalled for?

As it so happens, Everytown is also the primary driving force behind the marches on Saturday.

“On March 24, the kids and families of March For Our Lives will take to the streets of Washington DC to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end this epidemic of mass school shootings,” the website for the movement reads.

“The collective voices of the March For Our Lives movement will be heard. Join us in DC or march in your own community.”

Over 800 marches are planned across the world, although the primary march will be in the nation’s capital, where celebrity performers like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Common will continue to vulgarize tragedy for political purposes.

And, at the end of the day, when the marchers have gone home, when the celebrities are done Snapchatting and Instagramming in solidarity, when the sanitation workers are cleaning up the mess, we will be no closer to a solution to school violence, we will be no closer to a consensus on public policy on gun rights and we will be no closer as a people.

However, the coffers of Everytown will be fuller, the profiles of those who want to profit off of this tragedy will be higher and the celebrities in the Hollywood Hills can continue to bask in the social media goodwill as they bask in the sun. Nice work.
