‘Is America Becoming a Banana Republic?’ Farage Expresses ‘Shock’ at ‘Appalling’ Raid on Trump’s Home


Brexit firebrand Nigel Farage has expressed his ‘shock’ at what he called the ‘appalling’ raid on former President Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago yesterday.

Brexit architect and political commentator Nigel Farage has expressed his “shock” at last night’s FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago on Monday morning, an action the veteran populist firebrand described as “appalling”.

Occurring on Monday, FBI agents reportedly entered the former President’s home and forcibly gained access to a safe in the residence, with Trump himself lamenting that “nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before”.

This is a sentiment that Farage has expressed emphatic agreement with, with the GB News commentator saying that the raid shows that the American establishment is “very, very scared of Donald Trump”.

“No former president has ever been treated like this,” Farage said during a Tuesday morning interview with GB News, with the former Brexit Party leader emphasising that even former disgraced President Richard Nixon, who was caught spying on his Democrat colleagues, was never this harshly treated.

“They’re scared he’s going to come back, his party will storm the midterms, and he’s coming back to the White House in ’24,” he continued.

Farage also ridiculed the very justification for the FBI raid, with the long-time ally of President Trump claiming that — while there was no conspiracy surrounding the events of January 6 and, by extension, no documents in existence detailing such a conspiracy — the idea that any sensitive documents that would be stored at Trump’s home is laughable.

“Do you honestly think that, if he had taken documents, that they’d be stored at Mar-a-Lago?” he laughed. “I mean, it’s so ridiculous to be totally absurd!”

On a more serious note, Farage also expressed concern that the raid could prompt a violent backlash from a deeply divided American public that has gotten used to the idea that rioting and street violence has a place in its democracy.

“The danger, and the worry, is that the divisions in America are so great, the preponderance we have seen towards street violence is growing, and I just worry that it could provoke some sort of violent reaction,” he said.

Nevertheless, the architect behind Britain’s exit from the EU ultimately concluded that the raid will play into the hands of both the Republicans and Donald Trump himself during the coming elections, with Farage saying that many members of the general public will be greatly concerned by the nature of the FBI’s actions.

“To any fair-minded person, they’re going to say ‘how on earth can this be happening in 21st century America? What have we become? A banana republic?” he said.

“In terms of the electorate and fair-minded people, it will play very heavily in Donald Trump’s favour.”

The video features Trump delivering a speech about his vision for the future, where “hard-working patriots” rebuild the country.

He then continues, vowing to stand against the “tyrants” and bring greatness back to the United States.

The ad concludes with words on-screen reading “…the best is yet to come” but stops short of announcing a Trump run for president in 2024.

Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe! What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States,” he added.

The FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago was reportedly part of an investigation into former President Donald Trump removing classified documents from the White House and storing them in his south Florida resort.

What are the details?

FBI agents began the raid early Monday morning around 9 a.m. and searched the property until 6:30 p.m., according to News Nation reporter Brian Entin, who cited his sources.

The agents arrived in plain clothes — thus appearing to be Secret Service agents — and only notified the Secret Service about the raid right before it began. "That is why it didn’t leak earlier," Entin explained.

Three of Trump’s lawyers arrived at Mar-a-Lago after the raid began, and the FBI agents did, as Trump claimed, open a safe in his office.

The purpose of the raid was to retrieve classified documents that Trump allegedly removed from the White House, the New York Times confirmed.

From the Times:

Mr. Trump delayed returning 15 boxes of material requested by officials with the National Archives for many months, only doing so when there became a threat of action to retrieve them. The case was referred to the Justice Department by the archives early this year.

Eric Trump confirmed about 30 FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago, that nothing was found in Trump’s safe, and the purpose of the raid was to retrieve documents.

The raid does not confirm that Trump has committed a crime. It does, however, signal that investigators convinced a federal judge they had sufficient probable cause that a crime had been committed and that raiding Mar-a-Lago was necessary to retrieve evidence.

Legal experts believe the raid must have been approved by the most senior levels of the Justice Department, perhaps even by Attorney General Merrick Garland, because Trump is a former president and raiding his residence would require approval at the highest levels of government.

Anything else?

The White House allegedly did not know about the raid beforehand.

But Republicans say the raid is more evidence the Justice Department has become politicized under President Joe Biden.

After the raid, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy promised an investigation into the DOJ should Republicans retake control of the House after the 2022 midterm elections.

"I’ve seen enough," McCarthy said in a statement. "The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization. When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned."

"Attorney General Garland, preserve your documents and clear your calendar," he added.

DeSantis: Biden Regime Has Now Crossed Over Into a Banana Republic

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida torpedoed President Joe Biden’s “regime” for weaponizing the Department of Justice to raid former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in a move akin to the shameless corruption characteristic of despotic third-world countries.

“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” DeSantis tweeted on Monday.

“Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries?” he added, referring to Democrat-backed legislation to more than double the size of the federal tax collection agency.

“Banana Republic,” DeSantis said.

On Monday evening, FBI agents raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

The Washington Post reported that what it called a “highly unusual” search was part of an investigation into whether Trump had taken classified documents with him from the White House to Mar-a-Lago after his presidency ended.

In a statement Monday, the 45th president said the FBI raid was “prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024.”

Trump lamented: “They even broke into my safe!”

In comparing the DOJ’s move to those commonly deployed in “broken, Third World countries,” Trump pointed out that “Hillary Clinton was allowed to delete and acid wash 33,000 E-mails AFTER they were subpoenaed by Congress.”

“Absolutely nothing has happened to hold her accountable. She even took antique furniture, and other items from the White House,” he added.

Republican Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio of Florida also compared the raid to the despotic tactics employed in banana republic dictatorships.

“The FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago is incredibly concerning, especially given the Biden admin’s history of going after parents & other political opponents,” Scott tweeted. “This is 3rd World country stuff.”

Rubio unloaded in a furious tweetstorm, noting that abusing “government power to persecute political opponents is something we have seen many times from 3rd world Marxist dictatorships. But never before in America.”

The senator opined that the left will undoubtedly weaponize the Internal Revenue Service to launch even more partisan attacks on their political opponents.

As a reminder, the IRS apologized for targeting conservative groups during Barack Obama’s presidency.

Rubio then warned Democrats not to get too smug because “one day, what goes around is going to come around.”

There are no words to adequately describe the abject devolution of the presidency and the nation under Biden’s disastrous reign.

He and the Democratic Party have so drastically shifted the Overton window that we’re no longer shocked by the alarming policies and chilling actions they take every day.

From normalizing riots to incentivizing horrifying crime waves to promoting mass illegal immigration, nothing is too extreme for today’s destructive left.
