Democratic Congressional Candidate Indicted For Fraud And Theft

The democrats plan to retake the House in 2018 just took another hit. They’ve already lost some of their “top-tier” challengers to the pervalanche and now one of their rising stars in Virginia is looking at a federal fraud indictment. Don’t worry though, this particular candidate is black and she assures us that this is a matter of racial discrimination.

Democrat Shaun Brown is running against Republican incumbent Scott Taylor for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional district seat. Sure, she ran against him in 2016 and lost by 23 points, but this time she’s has a campaign with much better financing. More on that in a second.

The Daily Press reports however, that her 2018 campaign may have a few problems. A federal grand jury indicted her on charges of fraud and theft of government property. It seems that she runs a program with her mother that feeds children and/or steals money from the federal government:

The indictment alleges that Brown and others with JOBS Community Outreach Development Corp. filed fraudulent claims with the Summer Food Service Program in 2012, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia said.

The indictment says that Brown directed JOBS staff to inflate the number of children actually fed and to falsify documents in order to obtain additional money, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

She has been charged with wire fraud and theft of government property, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted.

For her part, Brown says that the USDA is discriminating against her and her mother, presumably because they are black. She has filed a $10 million lawsuit against the government agency and her biggest piece of proof the feds are involved in racism is because they wouldn’t reimburse her when she spent $625,000 to purchase a restaurant. Those racist bastards!

Actually the USDA had listed Brown’s organization as a “high risk auditee” because even a bloated government bureaucracy recognizes bullshit when they see it.

Brown’s lawyer thinks the federal indictment is retaliation for her lawsuit against the USDA, calling the the timing of the charges “unusual.”

“And why would they do this right before Christmas?” asked the lawyer.

Yeah, because everyone gets a free pass for fraud and theft over Christmas, right? Is Brown and her lawyer accusing the government of being a part of the war on Christmas over these indictments? Actually, that’s smart. If the race card doesn’t work, they can always play the religion card, though it would be more effective if she were a Muslim.

Back to Brown’s campaign to steal a House seat away from the Republicans. In her FEC filing it shows that she had raised $713,491 by the end of October. That’s not bad, but it turns out only $2,750 came from outside sources and the rest was from her. Yup, she gave herself $710,741. Gee, I wonder where that money came from. Even stranger is that her campaign reports no cash on hand. I have a feeling there may be even more indictments headed Brown’s way.

Brown is actually the perfect democrat. She’s really good a taking other people’s money and wasting it on bullshit and she blames all of her self-inflicted problems on discrimination. If she can beat the federal charges and overcome a 23-point hole, she should be a welcomed asset to the Democratic Party.

Lorde Facing Backlash For Cancelling Israel Show

The famed pop singer Lorde is facing a backlash following her decision to cancel her show in Tel Aviv, Israel, after numerous fans accused her of endorsing the country’s occupation of Palestine.

Shortly after announcing that she would play in Tel Aviv, as well as St. Petersburg, Russia, people hit at Lorde with ferocity on Twitter:

Lorde eventually caved to the pressure and announced that she would not be playing:

Fortunately, singling out the Jews for a boycott does not go over so well with other artists and industry executives, who have since launched their own “anti-boycott” as a response.

According to Deadline, a press release from the Creative Community for Peace says members of the organization are “deeply disappointed that Lorde canceled her show in Tel Aviv after receiving pressure from the radical boycott Israel movement. Artists should never become beholden to the political views of a small but loud minority.”

The Creative Community for Peace then states that the movement to shame artists who play in Israel is a “political movement ultimately aiming to extinguish the State of Israel as the state of the Jewish people rather than a movement for human rights.”

While Lorde joins Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters as one of many artists boycotting Israel, other artists like Radiohead, Nick Cave, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake have not caved to the pressure.

Entertainment executives have now signed an anti-boycott petition that will “continue to work for a more peaceful future for Palestinians, Israelis, and the entire region.” The most prominent names are listed below:

WAPO Republishes Old ‘Jesus Isn’t Real’ Piece On Christmas

The Washington Post has a special disdain for Christmas. Not only did the publication attack the Virgin Mary during the season of Advent, they also published a hit-piece gas-lighting Christians over the very existence of Christ.

The paper published their “Jesus isn’t real” piece way back in 2014; for some reason – perhaps to start their own holiday tradition – WaPo decided to republish the piece on Christmas 2017.

The article reads little as a historical treatise and more as a jab at Christians for believing in Christ at all.

Here’s how the author Raphael Lataster frames those who promote the idea of a “historical Jesus”: “Numerous secular scholars have presented their own versions of the so-called “Historical Jesus” – and most of them are, as biblical scholar J.D. Crossan puts it, ‘an academic embarrassment.'”

The rest of the piece attacks the Gospels, using arguments that could have been copy and pasted out of a Richard Dawkins pamphlet. We’ve heard them all: the Gospels were written long after Christ’s death, not all the authors identify themselves and only a few secular sources affirmed Christ’s existence.

Lataster mentions nothing about the fact that more historical evidence exists for Jesus than for Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle. He also makes no mention of the fact that Christ’s apostles were all-too-eager to die horrific deaths for what he calls an “invented” belief.

Worse still, the republished article was already skewered as counter-factual, after its first publication, by Lataster’s own “history of Jesus” lecturer.

After WaPo republished the piece and shared it on their Twitter account on Christmas, people quickly took notice and labeled it a cruel gesture.

Publisher of Encounter books and author Roger Kimball said the tweet shows “Really, all you need to know about that pathetic publication.” James Woods tweeted, “Why is this necessary today? Why insult people of a certain faith on the day they most cherish? It’s not a matter of being right or wrong, it’s a matter of simple courtesy. #Rude”.

Report Claims Taxpayers Have Paid $1.5 MILLION In Senate ‘Workplace Harassment’ Settlements

The United States Senate has paid out more than $1.5 million in “workplace harassment” settlements – including sexual harassment settlements – since 1998, according to a report released by the Senate Rules and Administration Committee over the holiday weekend.

The Senate had been reticent to release any actual figures on how much taxpayers have doled out over their members’ bad behavior, but the small regulations body chaired by Sen. Richard Shelby allowed the public to get a closer glimpse at Senate records while most of the country was busy celebrating Christmas.

According to the report, which is sparse on details, the Rules and Administration Committee has settled “dozens” of individual complaints in the last two decades, paying out $1.5 million – significant, but nowhere near the $15 million Rep. Jackie Speier claims has been doled out to victims from the House of Representatives’s coffers. Six hundred thousand of that total came from individual Senate offices. “Other Senate offices,” like committee and caucus bodies, paid out $850,000.

Most of the complaints aren’t sexual harassment allegations – they’re racial discrimination complaints. The Daily Caller reports that the individual statistics show violations of the “Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act,” as well as age discrimination.

The Senate Rules and Administration Committee, unlike the House does not keep detailed records of each payout, so the information available is only general; there are no names, dates, addresses, or even individual check amounts listed in the newly public information.

Democrat Running For Congress Indicted In $803k Fraud, Embezzlement Case

Profiting from a nonprofit. Time for an IRS audit.

Via Fox News:

A Democrat running for a U.S. House seat in Virginia has been indicted on charges of fraud, embezzlement and theft in connection with events that allegedly occurred in 2012.

Shaun Brown, 58, appeared in a Norfolk courtroom last week and denied any wrongdoing, the Daily Press of Newport News, Va., reported. She said she intends to fight the charges and be exonerated, the report said.

Brown is next scheduled to appear in court Jan. 12 and will plead not guilty, her attorney, James Ellenson, told the Daily Press.

Prosecutors said Brown received about $803,000 via her nonprofit organization as a participant in a U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.

They alleged that Brown acquired funds by filing false reimbursement claims with the Virginia Department of Health.

Prosecutors said Brown and others told employees to inflate the figures for the number of meals served to low-income children, and the nonprofit would the pocket the extra reimbursements, the Washington Post reported.

According to the Daily Press, Brown acknowledged that the program had “irregularities” that she hoped to see fixed.

“I want the irregularities corrected,” she said. “I want to see the program improve.”

Earlier in December, Brown filed a suit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Virginia Department of Health and others, alleging discrimination against African-Americans, delayed payments, falsified reimbursements and claims for reimbursement, the Daily Press reported.

As suspected, the horse poop package was a progressive response to the tax bill

On Christmas Eve, I wrote about a special delivery to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin’s home in Los Angeles which shut down the neighborhood for a couple hours as the Secret Service and LAPD bomb squad responded. At the time the identity of the person who left the large, gift-wrapped box of manure for Sec. Mnuchin (accidentally placing it at a neighbor’s house) was unknown, but it seemed a safe bet that the person behind it was a progressive looking to express his displeasure with the Trump administration. Late Sunday night the person responsible outed himself to AL.com. His name is Robby Strong and, sure enough, he’s a progressive who calls the stunt an “act of political theater.”

L.A. psychologist Robby Strong provided AL.com with convincing evidence that he is the man behind the now-infamous incident, which attracted the LAPD’s bomb squad and other law enforcement personnel to Mnuchin’s home in the city’s Bel Air neighborhood.

He defended his decision to drop the box of manure – which he says he got from a horse-owning friend – off at Mnuchin’s house as a “prank” aimed at raising the awareness of Americans about the idea that “Republicans have done nothing for the American worker” and other political topics.

“The thing I live by is a rule of transparency and I was exercising my First Amendment rights,” Strong told AL.com. “A few years ago when [a Supreme Court ruling] said that corporations are persons and money equals free speech, that is so absurd and my rule of thumb is now that if corporations are free speech, then so is horses***t.”

The Washington Post adds that Strong has been visited by the Secret Service and is comparing himself to both Jesus and Martin Luther King Jr.:

“In the long run, if we don’t do stuff like this, what are we going to have left?” Strong told KPCC. “What I did, I would like to compare to what Jesus did when he went into the temple and overturned the tables of the money-changers, who were exploiting the people financially in the name of religion.

“I feel like that’s what the GOP has done to the American people.”…

His escapade earned him a visit from Secret Service agents Sunday, Strong said — and the agency confirmed to The Washington Post that it interviewed the manure’s self-declared sender.

But Strong wasn’t arrested, and he subsequently compared himself to another man who ended up on the wrong side of the federal government: Martin Luther King Jr.

The fact that this guy is a psychologist is really just perfect. I suspect if Mnuchin were to compare himself to Jesus and MLK, Strong would have an unflattering diagnosis to offer. In any case, this is a pretty extreme way for a professional to seek attention from fellow progressives.

Strong wrote on Facebook, “Bomb scares certainly were not my intention, but maybe they should be a little scared, eh.” Surely he must have known that a large package like this would attract attention from the police. After all, that was his whole intent, to make the news and become a hero of the resistance. What good is political theater without an audience of adoring fans?

Topless activist grabs Jesus from Vatican Nativity scene, shouts ‘God is woman’

This Christmas gift, in a manner of speaking, was already unwrapped.

You see, a topless activist took it upon herself — on Christmas Day, no less — to rush the Nativity scene in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican and grab the baby Jesus, Reuters reported.

The woman from the feminist group Femen jumped over the guardrails and shouted “God is woman,” a Reuters photographer told the outlet. The slogan also was written on her bare back.

Police stopped her just as she grabbed the baby Jesus statue, and she was detained, Reuters added.

The incident took place about two hours before Pope Francis delivered his Christmas message in the square, the outlet reported.

The Femen website identified the woman as Alisa Vinogradova and called her a “sextremist,” Reuters reported, adding that the group’s goal is “complete victory over patriarchy.”

A Femen activist pulled a similar stunt on Christmas Day 2014, the outlet noted.

Feds Found Fetuses in Ghastly Body Parts Warehouse Raid

Last year, we reported on the case of a ghoulish Michigan couple who were busted by federal authorities for trafficking in black market body parts, some which were diseased and were then rented and sold to medical students. In some cases, the pieces were infected with HIV.

The charming couple – Arthur and Elizabeth Rathburn of Gross Pointe – were indicted on multiple counts for their body shop operation where they sold and rented out bits and pieces of cadavers, some which they dismembered using a chainsaw, a band saw and a reciprocating saw.

According to a 2016 Detroit Free Press story on the raid:

In February 2012, the Rathburns delivered a package of eight fresh human heads using a Delta cargo airplane to a customer. None of the heads were embalmed, even though Rathburn claimed they were. One of those heads came from someone who had sepsis and pneumonia.

“This alleged scheme to distribute diseased body parts not only defrauded customers from the monetary value of their contracts, but also exposed them and others to infection,” U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said in announcing the indictment. “The alleged conduct risked the health of medical students, dental students and baggage handlers.”

Rathburn, a former University of Michigan morgue attendant, has long been the central figure in a years-long investigation dubbed “Body Brokers.” The FBI and border officials were on his trail for years, but it wasn’t until December 2013 that they zeroed in on him and raided his warehouse in Detroit, seizing more than a thousand body parts — heads, hands, legs, torsos — that were then stored in a deep freezer at the Wayne County Morgue.

According to the indictment, rather than use industry-standard sterilized autopsy equipment, Rathburn used chainsaws and other types of saws to cut up the bodies. He bought his body parts from cadaver centers in Arizona and Illinois, and got discounts on parts that were infected, the indictment said. He faces wire fraud, aiding and abetting, and making false statements charges. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

An additional development in this macabre case is being reported by Reuters and it isn’t for the weak of stomach. In addition to the diseased and poorly stored pieces of bodies, the feds also found a number of fetuses.

The new details have emerged as Rathburn’s trial approaches.

Via Reuters “Exclusive: Federal agents found fetuses in body broker’s warehouse”:

Federal agents discovered four preserved fetuses in the Detroit warehouse of a man who sold human body parts, confidential photographs reviewed by Reuters show.

The fetuses were found during a December 2013 raid of businessman Arthur Rathburn’s warehouse. The fetuses, which appear to have been in their second trimester, were submerged in a liquid that included human brain tissue.

Rathburn, a former body broker, is accused of defrauding customers by sending them diseased body parts. He has pleaded not guilty and his trial is set for January.

How Rathburn acquired the fetuses and what he intended to do with them is unclear. Rathburn’s lawyers did not respond to requests for comment, and neither the indictment nor other documents made public in his case mention the fetuses.

“This needs to be reviewed,” said U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn, a Republican from Tennessee who recently chaired a special U.S. House committee on the use of fetal tissue.

Blackburn recoiled when a Reuters reporter showed her some of the photographs, taken by government officials involved in the raid.

In four of the photos, a crime scene investigator in a hazmat suit uses forceps to lift a different fetus from the brownish liquid. In three other photos, a marker that includes a government evidence identification number lies beside a fetus.

“The actions depicted in these photos are an insult to human dignity,” said U.S. Representative Bob Goodlatte, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. A Republican from Virginia, Goodlatte said that if individuals “violate federal laws and traffic in body parts of unborn children for monetary gain,” they should be “held accountable.”

Blackburn said the discoveries in Rathburn’s warehouse raise questions about the practices of body brokers across America. Such brokers take cadavers donated to science, dismember them and sell them for parts, typically for use in medical research and education. The multimillion-dollar industry has been built largely on the poor, who donate their bodies in return for a free cremation of leftover body parts.

The buying and selling of cadavers and other body parts — with the exception of organs used in transplants — is legal and virtually unregulated in America. But trading in fetal tissue violates U.S. law.

In most states, including Michigan, public health authorities are not required to regularly inspect body broker facilities. As a result, it’s impossible to know whether body brokers who deal in adult donors are acquiring and profiting from fetuses.

The fetuses are a particularly grisly detail in this utterly disgusting story of a bizarre and morbid business that flies under the radar – until now. More disturbing than the fetuses in Rathburn’s freezer is the prospect that someone sold them to him and is likely profiting from the murders of the unborn.

The trial is set to begin next month.

Trump Revamps Often Overlooked Military Tradition

Donald Trump is known for “going big” when it comes to ambition and projects… and now he’s doing exactly that for a military tradition that is familiar to nearly everyone who has served.

According to Fox News, the president has completely revamped his “challenge coin” and given it some noticeably “yuuuge” upgrades.

Military challenge coins are special tokens that feature a unit designation and are carried as a morale item by military members. During a “challenge,” every serviceman present must show the coin, and anyone who is not carrying one is expected to buy a round of drinks for the others.

Coins from a high-ranking officer can also “beat” lower-ranking coins and earn the holder a drink during the good-natured game. For example, someone who has received a coin from an admiral or general has a good chance of beating the other tokens in a group, and can win a round of refreshment.

As you might have guessed, no token can “trump” one from the commander in chief of the United States armed forces, which makes the president’s challenge coin particularly valuable to men and women in uniform.

TRENDING: Cali Gov Says “Nature Is Not Political,” Then Blames Trump for Fires

The coin carried and given out by Barack Obama was fairly basic, with the White House on one side and the presidential seal on the other. There was previously not much difference between the president’s and vice president’s challenge coins, and at first glance they could easily be mixed up.

Not anymore. Trump has stepped up his challenge coin game, and made sure that receiving the token will be a memorable occasion for our troops.

Featuring “Make America Great Again” in embossed letters, Trump’s coin is dramatically thicker and heavier than Obama’s — and has received the gold treatment, making it significantly more valuable.

“In addition to his signature, Trump’s name appears three times on the coin, which is nearly twice as thick as its predecessors, while the traditional subdued silver and copper coloring is replaced with gold,” Fox explained.

The Washington Post reported that Trump was directly involved in the design of the new coin, and a White House aide claimed that the president “wanted to weigh in on it.”

Predictably, some people managed to find fault with the upgrade. CNN whined about the hefty gold coin being “gaudy,” while others complained that including the phrase “Make America Great Again” went too far.

“For the commander in chief to give a political token with a campaign slogan on it to military officers would violate the important principle of separating the military from politics, as well as diminishing the tradition of the coin,” protested Trevor Potter, a former chairman of the Federal Election Commission.

Of course, the coin is not issued by the government but by the president himself. The hand-wringing over Trump including his famous pro-American outlook on a token that he will be personally giving out seems like a very fussy complaint.

RELATED: Trump Makes Alaska Great Again, Brings Back Gold Mine Obama Nearly Buried

A spokesperson for Secretary of Defense Mattis — who also gives out challenge coins — explained that the tradition is about boosting morale.

“It’s not about him. It’s about the person whose hand he is shaking,” Mattis’ office told The Washington Post.

The complaints about “gaudiness” miss the point: Meeting the president of the United States is a rare and special event for most members of the military. The challenge coin should be rare and special as well, and the 45th president’s token will no doubt be a unique keepsake for troops who receive it.

President Trump has shown his genuine admiration and respect for the military many times. He could have simply ignored the challenge coin tradition or re-used the design from his predecessor.

Instead, he took the time to make the tradition truly special, and ensure that troops he meets walk away with great stories… and with a gold coin in their pocket that guarantees they’ll probably never have to buy a round of drinks again.

Trump Makes Alaska Great Again, Brings Back Gold Mine Obama Nearly Buried

For Donald Trump, making America great again doesn’t just stop with the lower 48.

According to Fox News, a permit application has been filed with the Trump administration to move forward with the Pebble Mine, a mining project that was nearly buried under the regulatory heft of the Obama administration.

The Pebble Limited Partnership, which is a subsidiary of Northern Dynasty Minerals, has filed a wetlands-fill permit request with the Army Corps of Engineers for the proposed gold and copper mine in Alaska’s Bristol Bay.

The permit application was a major step in a plan that was thought to be dead under the Obama administration, but has seen new life since Trump took office.

“At the outset of 2017, we established three ambitious corporate objectives for Northern Dynasty and the Pebble Project,” a statement from  Northern Dynasty President and CEO Ron Thiessen read.

TRENDING: Watch: Kayaker Catches $100,000 Wreck on Video

“We committed to reaching a resolution with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to restore the Pebble Project to normal course permitting, to re-partnering on the Pebble Project and to initiating permitting under (National Environmental Policy Act).

“As we approach the end of the year, I’m proud to report that we will hit our mark on all three important milestones.”

In 2014, the Pebble Mine was blocked under Barack Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency even before Northern Dynasty submitted plans for it.

The decision was based around Section 404(c) of the Clean Water Act, which allows the EPA to “restrict, prohibit, deny or withdraw the use of an area as a disposal site for dredged or fill material if the discharge will have unacceptable adverse effects on municipal water supplies, shellfish beds and fishery areas, wildlife or recreational areas.”

In this case, the EPA said it was concerned that the mine would affect salmon fisheries and and local Native American tribes whose culture is based around them.

However, the switch in administrations made backers of the mine more comfortable going forward with plans.

In May, the EPA reached a settlement with Northern Dynasty that allowed the company to restart the permitting process.

“We are committed to due process and the rule of law, and regulations that are ‘regular,’” Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said in a statement at the time, according to Fox News.

RELATED: Alert: Someone Got Trump to Nominate Obama’s Most Liberal Activist on Gender Ideology

“We understand how much the community cares about this issue, with passionate advocates on all sides.  The agreement will not guarantee or prejudge a particular outcome, but will provide Pebble a fair process for their permit application and help steer EPA away from costly and time-consuming litigation.”

Earlier this month, according to the Anchorage Daily News, Northern Dynasty got a new investor in the plan in the form of First Quantum Minerals, which became a partner by investing $1.5 billion in the project.

After the application, according to the stock market news site Seeking Alpha,  Northern Dynasty stock went up 6 percent, another sign that investors expect the plan to go through.

However, many environmentalists and those in Alaska’s salmon industry are still vehemently opposing the plan.

“My family has been here for generations and we rely on the salmon to feed our families and to have a livelihood,” said Kimberly Williams, executive director of Nunamta Aulukestai, a Bristol Bay nonprofit associated with 10 corporations that operate in Bristol Bay.

“Salmon fishing is not just part of my culture and history, but it provides jobs for everyone in the community and helps send people to college. The mine puts all that at risk.”

Company officials insist that environmental damage will be minimal, however.

“The project design we’re taking into permitting includes a substantially reduced development footprint and meaningful new environmental safeguards that respond directly to the priorities and concerns we’ve heard from stakeholders in Alaska,” a statement from Pebble Partnership CEO Tom Collier read.

“Not only are we confident that Pebble as currently envisaged will secure development permits from federal, state and local regulatory agencies, we are confident it will co-exist with the world class fisheries of Bristol Bay and earn the support of the people of the region and the state.”

Please like and share on Facebook and Twitter if you think that this gold mine should go forward.
