NFL in a Panic After Ticked-Off Football Fans Plan Massive Move on Nov. 12

As the NFL continues to become mired in problems related to players protesting the national anthem, fans are letting the league know where they stand.

The Facebook group “Boycott the NFL” calls for a boycott of all NFL games on Veterans Day weekend, Nov. 11, to show support for the flag, anthem and veterans. Veterans Day is on a Saturday, and the group is encouraging fans to not watch any football games that Sunday or Monday.

The group also asked fans not to purchase NFL merchandise over the weekend.

“We will be not be watching or listening to NFL games on November 12th in solidarity with veterans around the country, as football players have continued to disrespect the national anthem, the American flag, and everything our nation stands for,” the group’s page stated.

According the group’s page, 10,000 people have already said they would take part in this event.

“Until millionaire football players stop protesting the National Anthem of the United States, we’ll be here,” it states on the page.

The notion that league players are nothing but a bunch of pampered athletes who are out of touch with their fans has driven some enthusiasts to burn jerseys and merchandise.

It’s a movement that has already gained steam as evidenced by premium TV provider DirecTV announcing it would provide refunds for fans who want to cancel their NFL Sunday Ticket package.

If this trend to hit back at the NFL gathers steam, it might be something that causes football players, coaches, owners and general managers to lose a little sleep at night, because it could hit them where it hurts — their bank accounts.

Announcements that fans are giving up on their teams surely has the NFL panicking.

As groups like “Boycott the NFL” become more popular, it could be a sign that the the league’s nightmare may only be beginning.
